Screen overlap when connected to projector

when i connect my macbook to my NEC projector using mini DVI to DVI cable part of the image from the right hand side of the screen is displayed on the left hand side. How would i correct this display problem?

Hi,
SwitchResX (http://www.madrau.com/) control will give you more control over your monitor, or in this case projector, than the Monitors control provided with OS X.
It sounds like the projector is not putting out correct DDC data, and hence the MacBook is not generating the correct timing for the projector. You can tweak settings with SwitchResX that you can't get at with the normal Preferences control. Try setting the vertical sync rate to 60 Hz. You may need to experiment to find the best horizontal rate. To get to the tweaking area, open SwitchResX, click custom, then click the plus sign in the lower left of the window. A new window with detailed settings will open.
Best wishes getting synced up.

  • Cannot play the video in powerpoint when connected to projector

i have linked a video into a powerpoint slide... it played perfectly on the screen. but when connected to projector it cannot be played.
i am using a macbook pro with Lion OS.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem today in front of an audience with 300 people (MacbookPro OSX 10.10, Thunderbolt-VGA adapter, PPT 14.4.6).
Here what I figured out so far:
    1. It happens when you have PPT open and connect to beamer afterwards
    2. You can resolve it (in my case) by quitting PPT and launching it WHEN connected to beamer
    3. Yet, make sure Mac does not go into sleep mode or you get a lock-screen in the waiting time. if you do so, you get back to square 1. quit PPT again 2. restart it.
    4. Also.... in one case I had to hit the volume control once to get the sound back even though movie was playing
So in short: Connect to beamer first, then launch PPT
I know it is only a symptom fix but it worked for me

  • ThinkPad W530 with Windows 7 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector

    Hi,
    I have 2 identical ThinkPad W530 laptops model 244723G
Both are set to discrete graphics from BIOS because with optimus driver my projector will not work at all.
But how i have other issue that causes BlueScreen when connection laptop to projector.
I have installed latest driver from Lenovo download site -> still BSOB when connecting to projector.
When i install driver from Nvidia site it fixes BSOD issue with discrete graphics and external projector.
Can same one else confirm that there is a error on Lenovo optiomus driver when using discrete graphics?
    Solved!

Would you mind posting the links to those drivers, or copying their exact name for us to search on the appropriate site(s)?
I use a w520 (quad core/nVidia 1000 discrete graphics board) with a projector and anything that makes that smoother I have to consider. There have been posts about how to re-create the usual ThinkPad use of the F7 key for choosing projector view mode but I admit I have never been able to take the time (and risk of failure) to try the swap of internal files to make it happen. (Starting a project like that always makes me feel I have to have time to do the project and if it goes wrong re-install the OS and all updates -- all before the next time the laptop is needed for anything important. That condition is almost never possible.)
    Yeah, I know, I'm chicken! <grin>

  • ThinkPad W530 with Windows 8 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector

Nine, that only covers Widows 7. Many people in this thread have reported the problem using Windows 8. Has that been addressed by Lenovo yet? Stability problems like this should NEVER be allowed to go so long without a resolution.
Edit Note : This thread was created base from the previous thread "ThinkPad W530 with Windows 7 x64 Pro BSOD when connecting to projector. As we currently Cx reporting facing the same issue on Win8 I have seperated this thread in order not toconfuse other customer. For cutomers facing this issue please continue posting in this thread.

    Hi shan_mcarthur,
Thanks for posting. I read through this thread again and noticed that most of customers here do indeed have Windows 7 installed as what the title represented unless I'm mistaken or may have missed out are you or anyone else here facing the same issue on Windows 8. If that is the case I'll be more than happy to bring this up with the teams but it will have to be a new thread though as I'd like to keep the resolution separate based on the OS use just to not confuse other customer .
For those facing the same issue above on Win8, please do let me know so we can start a discussion around this.
    Do let me know.
    Regards

Take it to Apple and ask them to fix the physical damage the water caused.

  • Videos won't play in powerpoint when connected to projector

I've tried to find a solution for my problem online but haven't come across anyone with the same issue. I often work with powerpoint presentations with many videos in it. The videos play just fine on my laptop and also when hooked up to an external monitor, which I use when at work, both in slideshow mode and when previewing my animations. However, when I hook up my mac onto a projector the videos won't play - not on my laptop screen nor on the projected screen. I've tried rearranging the displays by draggin the menu bar to either display and also switched from mirror screens to presenter's view within powerpoint but nothing helped solve the issue. The only solution I found is to play the presentation on my windows partition - which is not really what I'm planning to do for long term...
I'm using Powerpoint 2011 for mac and this problem has occurred using multiple projectors.
Any help on how to solve this issue is highly appreciated!

The laptop is a new Satellite Pro C70 64 bit with 6GB RAM, preconfigured with Windows 8.1
Resolution for laptop screen is 1600 x 900, but goes to 1289 x 768 when a normal monitor is connected.
I don't know what it is when the projector is connected because both screens are blank.

  • A205-S5866, "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL/Blue Screen event", when connected to Ethernet,

I will apologize in advance if I'm in the wrong place or if this is too elemental, I tried searching a bit before posting.  But here goes...
I started getting the "DRIVER.IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message/Blue Screen problem event yesterday.  There are a few things that over the course of the last 24 hrs that started to appear as potential triggers/accomplices. (maybe I was/am reaching, I don't know)
*It only has happened when my laptop was connected to an Ethernet wire/chord.  This was the 1st time I had used it, previously I had
always used wifi. (without any problems)
*It seemed to crash/shut down around when I would sign in or out of yahoo messenger or my "myyahoo" page
Extra points of relevant info... 2 things that I did hours before the 1st occurrence:
    1) I did a windows update (the automatic kind, that you get notices prompting you about);
    2) I had internet service set up in my apartment & the company's tech did the installation. (also, I am from the U.S. and bought my laptop at home before I left, but I am now in Seoul, S. Korea, just in case that is relevant somehow)
What I have done (after this started to happen) so far, is 1) used the internet via wifi without problem, 2) performed a system restore to before the automatic update, 3) tried again with the Ethernet & encountered the same problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions!
    Solved!

Jerry & CristopherC, again, thanks for your replies.  Not sure if you realize how much the "technologically challenged" like myself appreciate the help!
    OK...
ChristopherC you understood correctly, I have been able to access the net (& stay on for long periods of time) without any problems.  But when connected by the ethernet/modem I get those messages, etc.
*I am trying as hard as I can to avoid the "clean wipe" of my cpu because as I mentioned, I am in Korea & I have a "slingbox" type thing that I am accessing back home to get American cable, and if I perform that, then the network connection I established will be lost.
Jerry - You nailed the "stop #/BCCcode" it was D1.  The time I had the Microsoft "auto search" for a solution, it came back with this info.: BCCode d1, BCP1 00000004, BCP2 00000002, BCP3 00000001, BCP4 8BDD5DD9, OS Version  6_0_6001, Service Pack 1_0, Product 768_1
BUT... I copied down the just the message info. (without the autosearch) 2 of the other times, and it gave:
    -Stop:  0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x82BF3DD9, 0xA6DE3204, 0x00000000)
    -Stop:  0x000000D1 (0xCBE46973, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8289DB4E)
Also, I made an attempt once at the "Safe Mode Diagnostic", and got this other info... Prob Event Name: Blue Screen, Locale ID: 1033, OS Version (which seems slightly different than the #'s above) 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
I not sure what, if any, significance this info has. :-)
OK, I will to do those hot fixes you suggested & report back.  Thanks again!

  • How to get the connected screen off when connected

When I connect my iPod nano (4th gen - I believe) to both my car (through the AUX jack with a USB cord) and to my computer, the screen that says "Connected Eject before disconnecting" comes up and won't go away - even after it syncs and everything. In the car, it will plays some music but since I can't see my screen or any of my playlists I can't change the song or anything from the iPod. On the computer, I can click the eject button and the screen goes away and all if fine except that it obviously isn't connected and then won't sync. When the iPod isn't connected to the computer or the car it works fine. HELP!

        Hello, ghost3947-
I am sure this would be quite frustrating! Let's take a look at that! Please ensure there is no debris in the HDMI port on the device. If dust, lint, etc get in that port, it can cause these sort of glitches. After you verify the port is clear, and it continues, please move on to a factory hard reset (http://tinyurl.com/9bgrztr) to resolve the concern. After the reset, the phone will walk you through activation and signing back into Google services. Keep me posted!
    Thanks,

  • W530 blue sreen when connecting to projector on battery

Experiencing BSOD when I connect to Projector using VGA port and laptop is on battery. I am running latest BIOS, video drivers as per Lenovo System update. Laptop has Nvidia K1000M and integrated HD4000 and under optimus configuration (in BIOS). In NVIDIA Control panel --> 3D Settings --> Preferred graphics processor is set to Auto-select.

This is very frustrating, has happened both times when I tried to connect to projector and reboots after which connects to projector without BSOD.

Yes I am having this problem as well.
When connecting my W530 to a projector using the VGA-out port, I get a bluescreen regardless of whether or not I am plugged in or not.
HDMI-out works fine. I have yet to try to find an adapter for HDMI to VGA.
Using Windows 8 and NVidia 320.00 WHQL Quadro drivers.
The relevant difference between his and my W530 is that I use a K2000M.

  • Is There a Way to Leave the Screen on When Connected to USB?

I assume even if the screen is on it continues to charge so it seems unnecessary to let it time out and have to enter the password again and again.  So, is there as way to set it to stay unlocked (screen on) when it's on USB, but time out and lock when on battery only?

No, there is not setting to differentiate when charging and when on battery.

  • Since iOS7 update my iPad slows when connected to projector via VGA cable

I use my iPad in class as a teaching resource every day. It's invaluable. However, since I updated it to iOS7, whenever I use my lightning-to-VGA adapter cable to connect my iPad to my projector it a) slows down the iPad to a crawl, and b) shows a black screen on the projector. I must stress, it's an original Apple cable that I paid a lot of money for, so I'm not particularly happy about this development.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and if there's anything I can do to rectify it?
    Thanks in advance!

I am not using keynote. I am just using the VGA to mirror the iPad... or at least, that it what I have done until now. Maybe the odd SlideShark presentation, or a YouTube video, or maybe to display text on a PDF in Dropbox or iBooks on the WB so all the students can read it together or maybe complete a quiz online using Chrome, Safari or Puffin browsers. Now it doesn't even mirror, and the iPad just slows completely. When I unplug the lightning-to-VGA cable it speeds back up again.
All apps are up to date as far as I am aware. I will be testing it again tomorrow - since the latest update to iOS 7.0.3, as the projector's in my class and I'm currently at home, and will post if there's any difference. I'll also see if a reboot helped, as my iPad's been rebooted over the weekend after the update.

  • Screen Size When Connecting iPad2

    Hi,
I have connected my Apple TV to an XGA projector for us in my classroom. When I use the built in Apple TV options (like Netflix) everything works fine. When I connect my iPad2 via AirPlay the projection is reduced to about 2/3 of the available size. I would like to take advantage of the entire screen. Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Eric Kobb

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The output from the Apple TV is aimed at a standard television set which has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3, so when you mirror the iPad to the Apple TV, you will always get black bands as each side to compensate for the difference in the two aspect ratios.
