Screen problem in macbook PRO retina 15"

When I boot the computer in cold (after teen or more hours without use) the screen vibrates two or three minutes and then the screen stabilizes. This happens to me since a month ago. After the vibrations the computer works fine. If I connect one additional screen, this looks good from the start. How I can fix this problem? Thanks
Fernando

Might just be a GPU or OS X 'glitch' - it's a new one that I've not read of on this board. The best thing that you can probably do is to take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them take a look at it. Let it sit for the ten or so hours before you take it in so that you can duplicate the problem for them.
No idea why you're having the problem - or why you don't have it when connected to an external monitor.

  • What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"?

    I just bought a new MacBook Pro retina 15". After unboxing, I turned it on and there was no any problem. But the second time I turned it on and charge battery, I got 2 problems, 1. The machine made noise loudly and 2. The charging is not working. What is the problem on MacBook Pro retina 15"? However, after about 1 hour, it works normally. Should I still use it or sell it before it has more issues?

  • The screen on my MacBook Pro Retina has horizontal lines and has a brightness flicker every few seconds since june 2013 upgrade of airport utility.

    The screen on my MacBook Pro Retina has horizontal lines and a flicker every few seconds this happened after  this weeks Airport Utility 6.3 upgrade.

    Hi John,
    I would take your machine into a Apple service center. Its highly likely a hardware issue. The most likely issue being the display has failed. If there is no external damage to the machines display they will replace the whole display under warranty for you.

  • How do I get rid of a frequently occurring blue screen on my MacBook Pro Retina?

    Even as I type this question, a blue screen is frequently popping up for a good 5-10 seconds. It happens when I start up this computer, when I adjust the screen in order to get a view, or when I move the computer. Nothing appears to be disrupted other than the screen itself, for I can type even when the blue screen is flashing. My computer is a 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina, and I've had is since September. Other than this, I've encountered no problems. Any help would be apprecitated, and I hope I'm not the only one who has encountered this problem.

    Hello,
    It may be partially related to the discussion, but it appears that my imac (2013, intel, OS X 10.8.5) has misbehaved in a very similar manner. Here is a brief account in case it could help in some way:
    - perfect performance until today, when I tried to connect and external vga monitor;
    - imac does not detect the monitor, connected via a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter;
    - monitor works flawlessly, when connected to a dell laptop as an external display;
    - imac conects perfectly via the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter to the d-sub port of a smart tv;
    When the monitor is connected to the imac occasionally imac displays blank blue screen intermittently at random instants lasting about a second or so, once a few seconds. When the monitor is turned off the problem disappears.
    I am unable to find out why the imac would not detect the external display and the intermittent blue screen when the external monitor is on is even more baffling.

  • Screen on 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display.

    I bough my 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display in August 2012. I recently noticed that when I open the macbook,  I can see the screen shaking everytime I move the macbook pro on the table. I can feel it loose and when I touch it I test if it is loose I can see like 1/2mm movement back and forth when it is open.
    I don't know if it is just me and my OCD sense senses for this macbook pro.
    I just wanted to make sure.
    Does it get loos when opening after you have used it for more than half a year?
    Appreciate your oppinions!

    They can explain why it wiggles, tell you whether that is normal or not, give advice about what you can do to reduce its annoyance, and fix it if it is not normal. That is what they are trained to do, all day every day.
    There is no expectation that every time you visit they will find a way to make money off you, like a car dealership.
    The Genius Bar service exists because Apple wants you to be a happy customer, if possible. If you are willing to make an appointement and come to them (spending your time and energy to do so) they will work with you for nothing in an attempt to solve your problems, whatever they may be.

  • Having Memory problems on Macbook Pro Retina 13'

    Hello!
    So a month ago or so I bought a new Macbook Pro Retina 13'.
    I'm into video-editing and have been editing a lot of videos this summer and noticed that it took up a LOT of space on my hard disk. So, I deleted all the films I have on this computer and emptied the trash file. I also used Disk Inventory X to make sure everything was deleted.
    I'm going to be buying an extra hard disk where I'll put all my edited videos, but for now, I'm having slight problems. Even though I made sure every film/video was deleted on my Macbook, according to Utilities I still have 27GB of Films on my Macbook. (Link to print screen)
    Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of that?
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Jay!

    Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located. However, don't delete anything that is located outside of your Home folder as those are system files.

  • Mark under screen glass on MacBook Pro Retina

    On my 15" MacBook Pro Retina (Early 2013), around the entire screen, under the glass, there is a smudge that extends the entire width of the area before the viewable portion of the display.  You can see an example in the picture below.
    Anyone know what caused this and whether or not this would be something covered under warranty?  My warranty expires in June and if it's covered, would like it fixed.

    Because you have glass in front of the screen, there is space between the two. That is most likely dust. But it can get baked onto the screen. Your warranty should cover this. My daughters Imac had the same problem and it was covered. You should get it in before your warranty expires.

  • Screen Sharing issues MacBook Pro Retina

    Loving my brand spanking new MacBook Pro Retina 15" running Mavericks. Display set to 1900x1200. The only thing it doesn't do, is play full screen YouTube video from my Mac Mini (2011), as soon as I put that in full screen mode on the Mini. Mouse and keyboard no longer respond, the only option is to wait untill it is finished or use the controls on the Mini. My screen sharing is set to all adaptive settings.
    What I have done to do checks:
    remote control MacBook Pro Retina from Mini (same settings for screen sharing, resolution on Mini is 1080p) and play full screen HD YouTube video: no issues, scaling works flawlessly;
    check all network settings on both computer - no issues, both connecting full speed (400mpbs), wireless file exchange proves this;
    reinstalled Mavericks both on the macbook and Mini;
    removed all plists and preferences on both machines;
    saved files to external HD, emptied harddrives, and clean installed Mavericks on both(!) computers
    Installed all updates to december 12th 2013 (including the december screen sharing update).
    All to no avail. So I figured to draw some new variables in the equasion and do some control testing.
    I have done a test from an older MacBook Pro 17" (2010), display set to 1900x1200 as well. No problem at all controlling either computer. Scaling works flawlessly. Dito from an older iMac 21" running Mountain Lion. Like a charm, correctly scaling to meet the screen and network confitions.
    So I figured shrinking the size of the application window on the MacBook to about 1/4 of the surface, and guess what: there she flies. Enlarging the application window on the MacBook Pro has a linear effect on the responsiveness of the screen sharing application, trying to view full screen video the Mini.
    Verified this by controlling the older MacBook Pro 17" (1920x1200) from the MacBook Pro Retina 15". Confirmed that the above problems persist. Shrinking the screen again smoothens things out.
    This quite definite to me, it is the screen sharing application that is not able to handle scaling on the hardware or interact with the software drivers of the Intel Iris Pro/NVidia GeForce GT750M combo. I hope this gets fixed soon!!

    Setting Low Res on the apps didn't seem to help, however (as has been mentioned elsewhere) changing the display settings to non-HDPI does fix it, for GoToMeeting at least.  (Also it let's you appreciate how nice the retina display is, in case you've already gotten used to it!)
    You need an app for that however.  SetResX from http://www.sendspace.com/file/mef6sk works well for me.  To return to nice Retina/HDPI mode you have to go back to Display Preferences (and the "Show in Menu Bar" option for Display Preferences is sadly AWOL in Retina/Lion so you have to navigate through System Preferences.)

  • HT5455 image persistence problem on Macbook Pro Retina 15"

    Is it a faulty or normal behaviour if we see an image persistence after 5 minutes ( less than 15 minutes "Default setting of Energy Saver while using Power Adapter" to sleep/ turn off the display of Macbook Pro Retina 15 inch)?
    Today, the Technical support checked my screen using the gray.html and it did not appear. And She said it is a normal behaviour to have an image persistence, because the retina bla bla bla (i don't remember exactly) and just dont leave the laptop too long.
    http://r238.local/display/gray.html
    Just now after playing a Chess (appx 30 minutes) , and run that test. The image persistence appeared and I guess I need to make appointment again..
    Any solution and suggestion?
    or We will stick with what the technical support said "Normal Behaviour" ?

  • Bootcamp 5.1.5621 Problems w/ Macbook Pro Retina 15

    Hi there,
    I downloaded the latest bootcamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1720) from Apple.com and proceeded to install windows 8.1 on my Macbook Pro Retina. I used the cd and the first time I tried to install it; i had difficulties getting the program to recognize the properly formated partition. So I restarted the process and everything went fine. Once I got into windows though - my wireless card wasn't working, my track pad won't "right click" and the headphone port is lit up red. I looked at the documentation for that version of bootcamp and it says it resolves those issues.
    ANy idea on what the problem might be? In looking at the device manager in windows, there are a handful of things that did not install with drivers and there is no mention of a wireless card either.

    I tried running the setup file on the thumb drive but i get the error that "this version of bootcamp is not intended for this computer model" Is that what you mean?

  • Problems between Macbook pro retina and CS6

    Hi,  the problems with the macbook pro retina and CS6 are solved? problems with the pixelated interface in PS, InDesign, Illustrator...
    Thanks

    Photoshop and Illustrator with their latest patches are compatible with retinal displays. InDesign CS6 is not and never will be compatible. You'll need CC for that.

  • Poor external screen resolution with macbook pro retina

    Hi guys, pretty frustrated but i hop you can help
    i have a mid 2013 macbook pro retina 15inch. i've downgraded in screen size from my imac 24inch. i purchased a 32inch lg smart tv to use as an external monitor but the resolution is horrific. i thought i could get myself a lot of screen retail space but it only seems to run in 1080p and everything is far to large and blurry. i'm connecting using HDMI. i've tried different colour profiles, i have tried using this script in terminal that i found to turn on font smoothing for all monitors but it doesn't work
    defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 3
    any one know what i can do? i'm truly gutted atm

    Something that's running on your machine (or something that's connected to it) is preventing it from sleeping when you close its built-in display. It should sleep and stay asleep as soon as that display is closed, unless you are running it in clamshell mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131
    Does the computer sleep properly when you close its display if the external monitor is not connected to it? Does the monitor have a USB cable that connects to the computer, in addition to its video cable?

  • Screen Problem on macbook pro MD102

    Hi , i 've got a macbook pro MD102 and i put my foot on it, i realized that fast, but my screen on the black color some area became less black, it's like some kind of pale, but there's no problem in any other thing , what can i do for it? ,

    Hello parhamm and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
    I'm pretty sure that the way these are front glasses are constructed is; there is a front glass w/ a black mask and that assembly is glued to the back.
    http://www.ebay.com/bhp/macbook-pro-13-unibody
    "i put my foot on it"
    So probably what you did was to cause the adhesion between the mask and the front glass to separate. It's probably possible to re-adhere the two back together but I wouldn't attempt it if you weren't very versed in such repairs.
    "there's no problem in any other thing"
    Yah, so messing with it more would cause problems with the screen itself and then you would have problems.
    Try not to walk on your MacBook Pro. It don't like it.

  • Graphics problems with macbook pro retina mid 2012

    It seems like I've started having graphics issues after installing the latest firmware upgrade. At seemingly random times, I start getting graphics garbage showing on my screen. Here is a screenshot:

    I'm also getting some really bad sound quality on facebook notifications. I've been forced to disable them they sound horrible like they are clipping.
    Trying to figure out if this is a problem on all Late 2013 15" macbook pros or if mine is defective? This occurs even at around 20-30% volume levels with the Facebook notification sound problems...

  • Black screen with Distortion - Macbook Pro (Retina 15 inch Late 2013)

    Hello.
    I don't know much about computer problems like this, hence why i'm here but yesterday my Macbook Pro started to get pixel size flickering snow with some flashing horizontal lines. It kept functioning fine although this was happening.  Then later when I opened it up I discovered it had become much worse only showing the below screens when the power is turned on and nothing more.
    It's as though everything has been compressed to the left hand side and then fragmented across the rest of the screen.
    Any ideas?  It hasn't had any drops or bumps etc.
    Can't get an appointment with a genius...
    Thanks.

    I would take it in, It could be graphix card, display, cable, lose connection.  No easy resolve on your part.
