Screen/Projector Resolution in Windows

We've just setup around 50 or so new iMacs that we're running Windows Vista on via Boot Camp. We're having some trouble connecting projectors to them that we haven't had with previous models.
We can get the projector to mirror the image with no problems, but for some reason we seem to be limited to a resolution of 800x600 when we do this. The projector and, of course, the iMac display are capable of much higher resolutions. If we disconnect the projector, we can set the display resolution to whatever we want. If we boot to Mac OS, we have no problem scaling up to higher resolutions on both the built-in display and the projector--so it would seem the hardware (nVidia geforce 9400, as I recall) is definitely capable.
Is there some little setting somewhere that I'm missing?

just to rule ou the obvious:
Have you installed the BootCamp Windows Drivers from the OSX DVD yet ?
If not, while in Windows pop in the OSX DVD and the Driver Installation should start automatically.

Just finished installing BootCamp with Windows 7 Pro. For some reason the screen resolution in Windows display driver only goes up to 1200 not 1440 x 900. On MacOS it is obviously working fine. Any ideas?

On my MacBook Air 11 with Windows 7 64 bit I experience an even worse situation: when ever trying to install a NVidia driver (also when following the mentioned instructions) the setup executable reports - after a check of system compatibility - that no compatible graphic hardware (=320m) could be found. Luckily at least MacOS X is aware of a NVidia 320m installed.

Airplay screen mirroring on 4:3 projector, resolution problems.

I have an iPad 3, an ATV3 and a NEC NP400 projector which I'm trying to get to work together. I'm not sure about the projectors resolution, but i know it has a 4:3 aspect ratio.
I've tried to use screen mirroring with both the ATV 3 and a VGA adapter, and the problem is that I get black bars on each side no matter which method I use. I understand that the iPad 3 has a 4:3 aspect ratio and that black bars would appear with a 16:9 screen, but not on a 4:3 screen which is the ipads native aspect ratio.
It feels as if the iPad by defalut assumes that I'm having a 16:9 projector and adjust the aspect ratio to that fact. Is there anyway to tell the iPad that i'm having a 4:3 projector? Or should it detect that automatically?
The ATV fills the whole screen without black bars on each side, but as soon as I'm turning screen mirroring on via airplay the aspect ratio changes. There is no difference if I'm using the ATV or the VGA adapter.

M400 Screen Resolution for Windows 7

Hi all,
I have an m400 tablet that I just got off lease and fixed up. It is great running Windows 7 except that I think that I am supposed to be able to set the screen resolution to something higher than 1024 x 768. Right now, that is the highest setting. The only other choice is 800 x 600. I have installed the latest graphics drivers for windows 7 from the toshiba support website.
Is this the limit for this machine? It seems like it should go higher considering the M200 machine goes to the higher resolution with windows 7.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I looked it up and you are right about the screen resolution. It makes me feel better to know it is correct. I had been reading about the higher resolution and I didn't realize there were diffferent specs for different versions of the notebook.
The m200s that I bought both allow for the higher resolution (by default on XP and with a hacked driver in windows 7). It is understandable as to why they changed to the lower native resolution though. The higher resolution makes reading text difficult on a 12.1 inch screen.
It is hard to belive that this notebook retailed for $1700 in 2007 and I bought this one for $50 on ebay + $25 for a battery and power cord. I already had a hard drive and copy of windows for it (Windows 8 Consumer Preview also worked very well but I removed it because I thought the graphics driver was not working haha).

LT1423p not running at native resolution on Windows 8.1

I have had the LT1423p touch mobile monitor for about 6 months and it was running fine with Windows 7 and my T440p notebook. Recently upgraded the notebook to Windows 8.1 and am having problems with the mobile monitor not running at 1600x900 resolution.
It runs at ALL resolutions except 1600x900 (e.g. it is fine up to any resolution up to 1440x900). However if I select the resolution to be 1600x900 (either via normal windows screen resolution dialogue or via Lenovo Display Link Manager) it runs at a resolution of 1280x1024 EVEN THOUGH Display Link Manager and default Windows screen resolution dialogue think it is currently running at 1600x900.
It is a very strange issue. Initially I tried with the default LT1423p drivers and have since upgraded both video drivers and displaylink drivers to latest version.
Seems like people here are running with Win 8.1 successfully so I am wondering why it is not working for me.
Any tips greatly appreciated.

Been doing some more testing on this.
As it happens the screen resolution does look OK but Windows 8.1 is drawing screen objects with a weird resolution. If I take a window and slowly drag from my notebook screen over to the mobile screen the window resolution is perfect while I drag it across, and then as soon as more than half of the window being dragged is on the second screen, the resolution of the application window (like Windows Explorer or Firefox) just changes to a low resolution that matches a 1280x1024 screen.
The screen itself seems to have the correct resolution but OBJECTS within it have some sort of downscaling applied to them which just seems bizarre!
Going to http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/ via firefox in both screens reports different resolutions (1600x900 on notebook and 1280x1024 on mobile monitor). However if I drag an icon or set a 1600x900 wall paper with no stretching they look perfect.

I spent 2 days working through boot camp issues and finally got it installed. The reason I wanted to install it is because I wanted to play some games that only come on PC - especially Star Citizen.
When I play the game, its PAINFULLY MISERABLY slow. It takes more than 20 seconds for it to respond to my actions. I posted some questions on the board there and they said that it's either my resolution or my RAM.
Is there a way to change the resolution only on the PC side so I don't have to always change it back on the Mac? That would be very inconvenient. I tried to change it but it seems like I have to change it on the Mac. Also when I tried, then logged into the PC again, there was just a green screen - it didn't allow me to log in.
Another player commented that it may be my RAM. I have 8GB of Ram but they said that the PC may get less since I'm using Boot Camp. Would that be correct? Do I need to install more RAM?

I haven't been able to change resolution in windows at all. I changed in Mac side but it would not load windows after I did that.

Hi,
When I screen capture [using RoBo ScreenCapture] either web
pages off the Net, or dialog boxes of programs [I'm using Flash for
a presentation instead of PP] the images are pixelated or fuzzy or
well, not good enough.
Let me explain In using RoBo, I make the capture at the
highest Jpeg resolution possible. When I bring the jpeg into Flash
[import directly into Library] and bring on the stage, I have to
resize the image because it is too big for the stage [being
800X600]. The projector I will be using for the presentation is
800X600.so I set the stage for that.
When I publish the file and review it [setting my monitor to
800X600] the images look terrible.
Maybe I should explain that when I do the screen captures at
first, my monitor is set at 1600X1200.
Should I set it at 800X600 when doing the captures first? I
mean, does this affect the final output of the resolution of the
jpg's when they are placed in Flash after the capture and import
into the Library?
I have had to make captures of web pages, so I have my
monitor set at 1600X1200 normally so I can get the most real estate
on the screen as possible. I make the screen captures using that

A screen capture captures whatever number of pixels you are
grabbing. If
your monitor is 1600x1200 and you capture the entire screen,
then the
resolution you have captures is 1600x1200.
Then two things are happening:
1) you are making it a JPG, which is lossy compresion
2) you are shrinking it to 800 x 600.
To shrink it, Flash has to 'throw away' 75% of the pixels of
the original.
So, no matter what, you are ending up with a lower resolution
image than
what you started with.

That would make sense. Why? You can only show 800x600 pixels
in your final
presentation. What's the point of capturing more than that?

If the images are that resolution, then yes, if you increase
the size of the
flash file, you should be able to see all of the pixels at
that particular
resolution.

As long as you bring the images in at 100%, the available
resolution of the
images shouldn't change at all.

I'm not sure what RoBo is, but have you considered using a
product like
RoboDemo for this type of thing? That should handle
everything for you.

Tecra M5: Cannot clone on two screens, driver nvidia with windows vista doesn't work

i has installed windows vista 32 bits, the bios updated and all the drivers from the toshiba oficial website, if i put a second screen the resolution of my lcd screen it's going to 1024X800 but in the external screen don't recieve signal.
If i start the tecra with the external escreen connected only has signal in this, no signal in the lcd screen.

As far as I know the Tecra M5 was delivered either with the Intel or nVidia graphic card.
On the notebooks with nVidia graphic card you can set different option in the nVidia Desktop manager; for example Enable multiple desktops
You should find it in control panel.
Unfortunately, I dont know exactly where the settings are placed in the nVidia manager because this notebook was delivered only with WinXP but Im sure you will find it.

Hello, i know that this laptop can run in 1440x900 resolution screen mode
but my windows 7 runs only on 1280x800.
it's quit a little resolution for me, because i work with coreldraw and some images just doesn't fit at full screen.
i know that that this laptop can perform this resolution, as it even written in manual.

JInternalFrame Full Screen Exclusive mode lag Windows 7?

Hi everyone I'm not sure if i'm posting this question in the right category so feel free to move it. I recently have been playing around with full screen exclusive mode and JInternalFrames. Now what iv'e noticed is on every platform i've tried it works fine. When clicking and dragging the JInternalFrame to a new location it is quick and responsive. However when doing this same operation in Windows 7 the JInternalFrame lags significantly behind the mouse location as i'm dragging the internal frame. I haven't had a chance to test this on any other Windows platforms such as Vista or XP but I don't think it happens on those platforms, at least I don't remember this ever happening when I had Windows Vista and it doesn't occur in Mac OS 10.6.
The following are the circumstances i've found that produce this problem:
*1. The program is set to Full Screen Exclusive mode.*
*2. You are using Windows 7 (possibly other Windows platforms)*
*3. Click and drag a JInternalFrame to a new location.*
I've tried several things to see if it fixes the problem such as setting the look and feel to cross platform but nothing helps. In fact when the LAF is set to cross platform it is even worse.
Now i'm new to Full Screen Exclusive mode so i'm guessing (hoping) this is a problem caused by an error on my part. Here is the source code, i'd appreciate it if you give it a try. My question is how do I fix this lag so that the JInternalFrame is quick and responsive to the user dragging the window and i'm also wondering if this only happens on Windows 7 so if anyone could also tell me if they experience the problem I am describing and the OS you are using that would be great. Thank you guys :)

I don't see the lag you describe. There's some flicker when moving the internal frame around rapidly (it looks as if the borders follow the content a split second later, but can't be caught in a screen capture) but that's no different when I show the internal frame in a normal (not full screen) window.

Could this lag be something wrong with my VM on Windows 7, cause the lag is extremely bad as in it takes a couple seconds for the internal frame to catch up with the mouse. I also just noticed that any other components in full screen exclusive mode on Windows 7 lag as well. Such as scrolling though a large amount of text, the scroll bar will lag far behind the mouse location and take a couple of seconds to catch up even when the mouse is moving fairly slow. I was hoping it was something in the code I was doing wrong but I guess not? Any suggestions on how I could fix this problem? It really makes my applications appear sluggish. For example when you click on a normal window such as in Windows Explorer and drag it to a new location the mouse stays in a fixed position on the window while you are dragging it. However with this lag the mouse appears to be "detatched" from the window and does not stay in the same location on the window while dragging. Does anyone else experience this or is this normal? I'm using Windows 7 64bit but I don't think that would make any difference. I'd also like to point out that I'm using Java 6 update 21 I don't know if that would make a difference opposed to update 17.

I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.

When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me).

Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Black Screen After Upgrading to Windows 8

I'm experiencing a black screen after upgrading a Dell N5050 B890 to Windows 8.
Tried to refresh the installation but the problem persited. re-installed the Windows 8, the machine logged in successfully but the problem arose again after reboot.
Urgent assistance needed

This problem is solved...
I guess the problem is concerned with the display module controller in the BIOS which is having a slight compatibility issue with windows 8.
This issue is solved by updating the BIOS of your Laptop/PC to the latest version. You can download the latest BIOS from the website of the Laptop company/Motherboard Company.
But for updating the BIOS, you have to start your computer/Laptop for at least one time in Normal Mode. So here are the steps to do so...
1) Boot the Laptop/PC.
2) After the boot screen (The Circle Animation & Windows 8 logo), you will be presented by the lovely & awesome blank screen.
3) Wait for 1 minute so that drivers load into the memory.
4) Press the Power button of your laptop/PC for only a moment (Just Press and release it quickly. Don't hold. We don't want to shut down).
5) This will force the laptop/PC to go into Sleep mode.
6) When the laptop/PC goes in sleep, the laptop fan & other sounds will stop.
7) After 4-5 seconds, press the power button again & release it quickly.
8) Voilllaa!!! The laptop/PC starts & you are presented with the lock screen. Now..... Login! What are you waiting for! :P
This is not the permanent solution. It just lets you start you Laptop/PC.
After updating the BIOS, I strongly suggest that you must download the latest graphics driver for your Computer/Laptop to avoid any further issues.

My japanese macbook pro (late 2011) physical keyboard does not match with the on screen japanese keyboard in windows 8.1 so does caps lock

I am using windows 8.1 pro on my Japanese macbook pro (Late 2011) and enabled japanese language but the problem is that when i press caps lock (lower left corner) it changes the input method from english to japanese. I checked my on screen keyboard (OSK) in windows and its different from my physical keyboard i.e. keys are different on my physical keyboard compared to OSK. Can anyone help me?

How to set an image to windows lock screen and desktop background for windows store app in c#?
if changing lock screen is available in windows store C# how about changing the desktop background using Windows store C#?

To change the Windows lock screen we can use this API:
LockScreen class with set image methods.
To change the desktop background, it is not possible as I know.
