Screen Recording Software

I just purchased my first MAC and just love it. Can anyone suggest a software for screen recording. Adobe Captivate would be great but it is not available for MAC. I am recording tutorials so the program needs to be sophisticated enough that I can edit during the recording. I was thinking about QuickTime Player 7 Pro. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

QuickTime X Player can capture your screen. If you need more sophisticated capture capabilities, search MacUpdate for "screen record" and you'll find a number of third-party products, one of which will probably meet your needs.
Regards.

  • Can Microsoft add a screen recording software in the next update

Apple has screen recording software on it when you get it. Can Microsoft do this to? It will promote more gamers to use it and more people who use Youtube to post videos.

Apple has a great screen capture software downloaded on the computer for you,  completely free! To by that same screen capture software for
Windows is about thirty dollars. Microsoft add a free screen recorder in the next update. This will put
Microsoft up above Apple. Think about it. More gaming is done on Microsoft computers than on
Apples. This will promote even more people to use Microsoft
and will allow more gamers and people who have Youtube channels to use Microsoft computers. I want a safe screen capture software that is easy-to-use and reliable.

  • Best Screen Recording Software for Mac?

Looking for recommendations on a good computer screen recording program, as I'm trying to make a tutorial video, and need to be able to record what I am doing on my computer screen.
Would prefer free, but don't mind paying a bit - quality is most important. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

    without doubt - Screenflow
    why ?
because, it is not only a 'grabber', but it includes an 'editor', drop-dead-simple as iMovie, which includes many features ESPECIALLY made for tutorials - e.g. you can zoom-in after recording without quality-loss, you can change cursor-size, highlite, 'print' pressed keys on screen, add a pic-in-pic (if you like your face in your tuts ) ..
    side-note: screen-grabs are off the standards, iM or FinalCut/express support! so, a built-in editor is a ++ ! (the exports/uploads from a SF-project are superb!)
not cheap, but worth every cent!

  • Free Screen Recording Software

I need a free screen recording software. Anyone know of any good ones?  I have been looking at CamStudio.org but I can't find anyone to really vouch for it yet and the download package is sketchy at best. It's a zip file with a single .exe so I tried unzipping it in a VM and it wouldn't uncompress fully (stops at like 93% and just holds) I've scanned it but I'm still sketchy.
Anyone have an alternative to that one, or can vouch for that one?

  • Screen Recorder Software

    Hello
I'm looking for Screen Recorder software for 10.4 - I understand there's a version of Quick Time which actually has a built-in feature to enable 'on-screen' recording.  I would also pay for such a software program.
I searched the internet and came up with this, (10.4 Min Syst. Requirement).

Has anyone tried this, or knows where there's a decent program?
    Thanx for your help!

That is the cheapest I've seen, but beware...
    * During installation of this download you will be given the option to install Google® Chrome and closely related programs from the NCH Software suite. These are optional and you can select what you want depending on your requirements.
Likely adware as well as the Chrome spyware, & very well may be Intel 10.4 & above only.
I think Quicktime Pro had such an option, good luck finding that though!

  • Free Screen Recording Software Reccomendations?

    hey guys
i'm looking for a free screen recording program..
    does one exist?
i've found a couple programs that let you pick and record an area of the screen but they are all demos
    any recommendations?
    thanks

I don't know of any for free either. You might want to check out iShowU which only costs $20 and works well. I had SnapzPro which costs significantly more and I much prefer iShowU.
Again I realize it's not free but it's reasonable.

  • Screen Recording Software (Video Screen Cap)

I have been googling for a bit and cannot seem to find any recent results for video screen recording tools for Linux, and certainly nothing on the Archlinux forums.
However, my research led me to believe that XVidCap is the most popular (as of about 3-4 years ago).  I was wondering if this is still the case or if there are other programs out there.  Also it's page on SourceForge shows the last update being about 4 years ago.
BTW- I am interested in all DE's and do not mind using a command line program.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Snow Leopard Screen Recording Software VS. 3rd Party Software?

I want to do some screen recordings and bring them into a 720P 24n sequence in FCP. How is the quality of the screen recording built into Snow Leopard? Is there any reason to still need 3rd party programs like iShow U?
    Thanks.

The quality of the Snow Leopard capture is fine, but the reason to use 3rd party programs is that Snow Leopard screen capture is very limited. You can't set the size of the capture, that's OK for a laptop but if you have a big monitor you could be capturing massive amounts of unneeded data. You can't restrict the capture to one window. You have no control at all over settings, while in a 3rd party program you can set the frame rate, the bitrate, the video and audio codecs, audio sources (one program or all, include mic), audio quality, the capture area and location, the file format, file name and save location, limit the capture time, create presets, etc. I think the frame rate of the OS X capture is also low, like 8fps, but I'm not sure about that one. You could do a short capture and analyze the clip in FCP.
A 3rd party program would, in short, let you do a capture with specs that match the FCP project you are working on.

  • Screen recording software - that is Mac friendly

I would like your recommendations for software that will allow me to record that activities going on in my desktop so that I can successfully create Photoshop Tutorials.
I also would like to know if by doing this I am breaching any copyright of Apple? I am also going to be contacting Adobe to find out with them also. I do see hundreds of tutorials on YouTube so I am guessing that it should be ok - if anybody can help give me some advice on any of the issues above I would be very grateful.

I second iShowU...I use it for my tutorials. And no, you aren't breaking any agreement with Apple by making a tutorial about their product.

  • What screen-recording software (Win8) is compatible with Premiere Pro?

What do I need to do to record my screen in Win8 and edit the video in Premiere Pro? I've spent 16 hours trying so far, only to find screen-recorders which crash while attempting to record my screen, and other recorders which successfully write SWF and FLV files, which Premiere Pro and Media Encoder refuse to import. So, how much do I need to spend, on what product, to cut my losses and get on with this? Thanks.

Like most other things, it takes some getting experienced. When I first did some Lightroom & Photoshop & Photoshop Elements tutorials back about 2005/6, I used the freebie & then Camtasia. At first I just couldn't get it to look like everyone else's sharp tut's. But then finally tweaked into the settings that worked on my system after a couple days of messing around, and it was great.
I'm wondering also if the trial version is willing to output at the frame-size/resolution that the paid version can produce? Camtasia is capable of beautiful results.

  • Comprehensive Captivate Screen Recording Tutorial

I am looking for a complete treatment of screen recording, software simulations, FMR, and so forth. The ones I have found tell me how to check boxes and establish the settings. What I am looking for is how to capture a full screen (so resolution and screen size is an issue), how to scroll smoothly (on a website "how-tom" the scrolling is jerky, auto-panning frequently overruns the position of the screen view, and manual panning results in mouse movements that are more for moving the recording region than for the demo being recorded.), and how to edit the results without having the mouse appear on a subsequent screen shot or how to take out portions or how to add a delay on certain portions.
I am using Cp7. I want to record a demonstration about using our website. The CP project is to be published at 800x600. My monitor is 1920x1080. How do I work around the size differences and avoid the poor scrolling and panning? I have recorded at 1920x1080 and then resized the project in Captivate to 800x435 (my numbers may be off but I maintained the aspect ratio) and when I play it back, it is jumpy and certain images flash.
I just want a decent turorial. Perhaps a training class. I full treatment of how-to do screen recording so that it is smooth and is at the right screen/image size.
    Any help is appreciated.
Signed, a small Adobe product user who yearns to be a big Adobe product user with just one great product: Captivate.

If I turn out to be correct, yes.  But I might be wrong.
You can test whether or not this is the issue by just capturing a section of the Prezi where nothing much in the way of animation is happening.  Find say a five or ten second slot with little or no animation and see whether that FMV part still exhibits the same issue.  If your PC seems to handle that OK, then try a longer section with more animation.  If I'm right, you should not have the issue where little or no animation is present, but the longer your file goes on and the more animation the chip in your motherboard has to decode, the slower it will get,

  • Higher Quality screen recording

Hey, I need to make a screen recording. I already have the soundflower trick for computer audio and that helped a bunch, but what I really want to know, is how can I record with QT and get up to 720p quality?
    things I have already tried:
-Basically everything on the app store. there are quite a few applications that CLAIM to be able to do what i want, but none have yet succeded.
-Quicktime pro 7. It's not free and has the same quality issues as QT.
-snapz pro x. now this is an amazing option, the only problem is that the visual effects I plan to record with this are quite taxing when it comes to computer performance, so i need the recording software to display the lag in real time when im recording so i can adjust the settings acordingly. So for example:
my computer (while not recording) can display these affects smoothly. however, when I am recording the FPS drops significantly. quicktime displays this dip in frames to me by slowing down what i see on my display (what will be in the video) Snapz however will continue displaying high FPS while the video i just recorded might have dropped significantly. I know it's a bit of a specific problem, but there you go.
-bootcamping and trying to run fraps. simply doesnt work. the program the effects are on doesnt work on bootcamp. there are other reasons that were explained to me but i cant be bothered to write them here because they are very technical and long winded.
I know this is all very specific but i have one more requirement... I would like to spend $20 or less. I know its a lot, but im depending on the fantastic apple community to come through.
    thanks,
    hemmy1416

I have the same question, and have looked at the answers here. I am not trying to answer your question, just add to it.
I have used snapz pro x and find that I like that way quicktime displays whats on your screen with the same amount of lag that will be in the finished video, while snapz does not. surely there is a way, deep in preferences or maybe even in terminal, that will enable me to take higher quality images in my screen recordings. I find the audio is fine but the image is what I have a problem with. I dont have the 100+ dollars to spend on other screen recording software, and would really appreciate some help.
    thanks,

  • Screen Recording Video - Which Preset do I use?

Hi. I am using a free screen recording software...I've tried both CamStudio and Debut...and I was wondering which Preset I should use when I create a new project? I'm thinking Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder but I don't know for sure...
I am having trouble getting the video to export sharp and clear. The videos are good quality when I record but something seems to be happening to the files when I import them into Premiere and add my animations. When I export back out as .flv (to add to website) they are extremely low quality.
I'm wondering if this has to do with the preset from the very beginning. I've worked on videos within Premiere before but they were using actual footage from the video camera...not using Screen Recording devices.
I've tried exporting the files as .AVI, .MOV, .MPG, etc. and still get the same low-quality export.
    Thank you.
    Leslie

    Leslie,
I cannot tell you the Preset directly, but think that you might find some useful information in the links in this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,

  • Screen Recording Help

I have used a screen recording software and the file is not displaying properly in Windows Movie Maker. The original file itself works fine, but when I want to add things Movie Maker fails. I have already used my Photoshop trial and I have purchased Photoshop in the past. I would like to find out if Photoshop will have this same error in your software and if I can get proof that it doesn't exist I will re-purchase the software. https://archive.org/details/PhotoshopHelp Left side is the recording. The right side is after windows movie maker. Will your software do the same thing? And does photoshop have screen capturing and a movie studio? I want to place the mp3 over the video and then have an introduction.

First of all the use a user forum you're not dealing with Adbe here. Your concern rambles all over the place has not identified what error you have in Microsoft software or even identified exactly what you want to do or what the things are the that you want to add.  You state you have purchased photoshop in the past but did not identify the version.   You state you used your trial of some version of Photoshop but not which version.
Photoshop like all active programs its maintained continue to evolve and improve like most software it contains some bugs most will be fixed at some point in time.
You ask if some undisclosed problem in a Microsoft Movie Maker application does not exist in Photoshop and you want proof that is does not.
To answer your rambling rant.  I would point out Photoshop is not a video editor by design.  That as of Photoshop CS6 Photoshop has same basic video editing features.  Yes you can add an additional audio track to video in Photoshop Video timeline. However it you want to do video editing you should look into applications designed for video editing for example Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects. You should not be looking at images editing software other then addition software to aid your video edition.
