Screen remains blank after call/voicemail
Like it should, my iPhone screen goes blank when I am speaking on the phone and when I am listening to a voicemail. However, about 75% of the time, my screen does not reappear after the phone call has been completed or after listening to a voicemail. Multiple taps on the screen nor pressing the "home" button return the screen. Instead, I have to push the button on top of the iPhone multiple times to return to the screen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hey talanz,
Do you have a protective case on the iPhone? If so, it may be covering the proximity sensor. Trying removing the case. http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/index.html#sensor
You can also try to reset or restore the iPhone.

Screen remaining blank after reopening lid (after 10.5.2 update)
Hello
after (successfully) updating from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 several relevant problems appeared.
One is that closing the lid while the computer is on, and then reopening it later, the screen remains blank instead of coming to life. It is possible that the computer itself went to sleep and does not return, but the only way to get back is to press the on button for a few seconds to turn it off the hard way.
The other problem is described in a separated post. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Marinho.me too, and I'm about to go nuts. There are tons of people having this issue, I fixed it temporarily by changing my hibernate mode (from 3 to 0) using terminal, everything worked great until the last update, now it's acting up again. Now, if I close my lid, and unplug something, or plug something, it gives me the startup sound (sounds like something moving) and won't come back if I open the lid.
There has got to be a solution. APPLE, FIX THIS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. -
Screen remains blank after waking
I have a Z10 that is unresponsive after waking up sometimes. As far as I know, there are no background apps running to cause this issue. There is a similar known issue reported here but pressing/holding the power button does not offer any options, and the device just reboots. I have restored the device to factory defaults to see if this issue can be resolved this way. However, this is the second device that we have had an issue with. The user is synced with an Exchange server if that makes any difference. I have also disabled the swipe to unlock feature which did not fix the problem either.
Is this a known issue among users? Are there any steps to resolve this issue without having to reformat the device each time it comes up?Hey talanz,

My MacBook pro retina display 15 inch (2013) doesn't start. After I press the start button there is only a beep sound at regular interval. The screen remains blank and the keys don,t light up. Can anyone help please?
If your MBP is under warranty, bring it to an Apple store and have the technicians fix it. If not, try the steps in this support article:

After downloading the latest version of iTunes, the store will not load. It appears as if it has loaded, but the screen remains blank.
I have the same problem and have been fighting with it for several days. I think the last thing that I did before this happened was to let Quicktime update itself. When I open itunes and click on store, the connecting bar gets halfway and then stops. That leaves me with the white store page, if I leave it alone for a bit, I see words as in names of singers and but no pictures.
I have ran the diagnostics and see no problems at all, no event logs in windows, no errors at all. I've un-installed itunes and re-installed but no change. I'm using Norton 360 from comcast. I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. Also, the help in itunes doesn't display.
I put in a ticket with apple and the response I got back basically told me to do what I've already done. I created a new user and have the same issue.
Any help at all will be very much appreciated. I think this started August. 8, 2011.
thanks so much for reading -
Screen remains on after bringing it to my ear during a call (After ios 7 update)
Screen remains on after bringing it to my ear during a call (After ios 7 update)
Try these steps:
Screen will not lock or go black when answering calls
Verify mute or speaker have not been activated, just prior to placing your ear over the receiver.
While on a call hold your hand over the top third of the display, and verify that the screen is locked or goes to sleep.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.

You might also want to try a reset:
Reset: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -
IPhone 4 screen goes blank after lock screen
My iPhones screen works perfectly on the lock screen but as soon as i enter the passcode it goes blank.
Its still fully functional in terms of recieving calls, vibrating, screenshotting etc. but what could i do to fix it.
I've already tried reseting the settings by holding the home and sleep button at the same time.
What else can I do?I'm sorry, but this makes no sense. What do you mean by "screenshotting"? How can you tell anything is working if the screen goes blank after you enter the passcode?
If a reset didn't fix it, try a restore. If that doesn't fix it, restore it as a new device. -

iPhone 4 screen remains blank and only the apple logo appears on and off when connected to mains or PC. Only on mains occasionaly proceeds to display IOS 6 logo and a slide sign to start recovery which proceeds to an instruction to connect to iTunes. Hwever, as soon as disconnected from mains (in order to connect to the PC) screen goes totally blank again. On connecting to PC the Apple LOGO starts appearing intermittently but does not proceed to display IOS 6 LOGO. I have recharged overnight and followed resetting instructions as per the iPhone support page. Any suggestions (short of taking it to a service centre) ?did you get any help regarding the problem?? because even i have the same problem!!! guess it all started after updating to iOs 6

I received mail regarding New Year Wish. There were numbers of recipients in CC. I just clicked reply to all and trouble started. Now I am unable to see mail. It is up dating and showing the numbers of new mail, but when open it, the screen remains blank, nothing appears and after few seconds it closes itself. I tried reboot, switch off, deleting mail account and creating again, all the possible solutions, but issue is not resolved.
<Email Edited by Host>Hey 9909904332,
If you are having an issue with the Mail application on your iPhone being unable to launch, and you have already tried restarting the iPhone, your next step is going to be to back up any data on your iPhone and then erase the iPhone and restore it as a new device. See this article for how to -

Screen remains black after power on
Brand new MacBook Pro 17" Unibody. I powered down last night and this morning on power up the screen remained blank (no visible faint displays). Keyboard backlight was on. Startup "noise" normal.
Battery was fully charged when shutdown.
Power cycled several times with no success. Removed all attachments including the power cord and after several attempts it finally powered on with a good screen display.
VERY frustrating experience. I have older 15" MBP and an iMAC and have never experienced this before.
Is there a patch/fix for this? Running 10.7.1 factory installed OS.
Is there some recourse to this? Should I take MBP to Genius desk? Can they investigate/eliminate the problem?

What kind of iMac do you have? A PowerPC G3, G4, G5, or an Intel-based iMac? What OS are you using? OS 9, OS 10.2.x Jaguar, 10.3.x Panther, 10.4.x Tiger, 10.5.x Leopard, 10.6.x Snow Leopard, 10.7.x Lion, 10.8.x Mountain?
This particular forum is for older PowerPC G3, G4, G5 iMacs running OS 10.5.8 or older. If your iMac was made after 2006, then you have an Intel-based iMac.
That being said, here are a few tips to try:
Option 1
Restart the computer while holding down the Option key. This will tell the computer to look for bootable drives. If it finds your normal startup disk, select let, then click the right pointing arrow to boot up the computer. Now open up System Preferences> System> and select your normal Startup OS as the default startup disk.
Option 2
Reset your PRAM. Press and hold down the Command Option P R keys while starting your computer. You will hear the startup chime. continue holding down those keys until you hear the startup chime a second time. Release the keys. If the computer restarts, you will need to reset your Date and Time. It might be time to replace your PRAM battery.
Option 3
Reset the SMC by removing all cables (USB, Firewire, Ethernet, Modem, Power cord) from the back of your computer. Let it sit for one minute. Press and hold the power on button on the back of the iMac while plugging in the power cord. Release the power on button. Count to five, the press the power on button again.
Option 4
Place your original, came with the iMac when purchased install disk, into the slot on the iMac, press and hold the C key while pressing the power on button on the back of the computer. (If you have upgraded your OS from when you purchased your iMac, example your iMac came with OS 10.3 installed, and you're now using OS 10.5, then use the OS 10.5 Retail Install disk that you had used to upgrade your OS instead of the original, came with the iMac disk.)
Continue holding the C key until you see the OS starting to load. DO NOT do an OS installation. At the top Menu bar, select Utilities or Utility, and pull down to Disk Utility. On the left side of the window that opens, select your normal OS drive. Click First Aid at the top middle of the window if it isn't already selected. Click Repair Disk from the lower right area of the window. When that is done, click Repair Permissions to the left of the Repair Disk button you clicked earlier.
When that is done, quit Disk Utility. From the top Menu bar (I think its under Utilities) select the Start Up Manager, and choose your normal boot volume as the startup disk. Restart the computer. If successful, and you've rebooted from your normal startup disk, eject the install DVD/CD, and you're good to go.
Good luck.
