Screen resolution changed upon awake; old resolution no longer available

My new MSI Z97 i7 mobo based Windows TP woke from sleep this morning, with the resolution changed to 1024x768.
When I went to change it back to 1920x1200, that resolution is not available; only 1920x1024, and the screen looks odd. Unless advised otherwise, I will try to re-install the display drivers that came w/ the mobo, to get the display correct again. Otherwise,
really liking Win10

Hello Giggirock,
Firstly, i would take the display and conect it to another machine. See if you can achieve this resolution with another computer. If the same problem occurs, i would say its the controller board on the LCD. if the resolution was there(on the other computer) then u may have a problem with the video card in your computer.
try this out, and let me know how you go
Cheers

Install errors have nothing to do with activations. Otherwise nobody can tell you much without proper system info and other details.

  • Bootcamp 2nd monitor resolution changes upon restart

    Here's my problem:
I have 3 monitors connected to my Mac Pro (specs listed below).  Whenever I restart in Windows 7 (drivers updated, installed monitor control panel, Mac drivers updated) one of my monitors always gets screwed up with the resolution.  I have 2 22" monitors and 1 28" monitor.  The one that always gets messed up is the 22" screen with a resolution at 1680x1080.  Windows 7 detects the resolution being about 600x800 or something.  To fix this, I have to unplug the mini dvi port from the computer and simply plug it back in.  The monitor instantly goes back to full resolution and then I have no issues until I restart again.
I don't seem to have issues if I leave 1 22" monitor and the other 28" monitor plugged in.  This only happens when I have all 3 connected.
I've tried numerous times to update drivers and download the graphic card control panels, but none of it seems to help.
Would anyone have a clue as to why this happen?

Strange. I naturally assumed that it would be the HDMI socket that has this issue.
Did a little digging and found this by Mr Grand Bennett. It was here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2746930?start=0&tstart=0
A related topic, but the same fundamental issues is being discussed nearby:
Can I use all three ports on the ATI Radeon HD 5770?
The movie version is that Mini DisplayPort does not convert directly to DVI, and the card cannot run three displays reliably unless you are using ACTIVE or POWERED adapters to convert to HDMI or DVI, which provide active conversion.
This is not your Mac Pro model, but you ARE using its display card, so these DO apply:
Mac Pro (Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009): Issues with three displays and multiple DVI, HDMI connections
Mac Pro (Early 2009), Mac Pro (Mid 2010): Supported display configurations

  • Old PKGBUILDs no longer available?

    Hi Arch Forums,
We used to be able to search for a package and on that package's page click "SVN Entries" then "View Log" and easily obtain older PKGBUILD's (and any associated files).
The process is even described in the wiki here:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … he_Package
As of somewhat recently, unless I am missing something, we can no longer do this.
Now when "log" is clicked we just see a log of changes and a diff style representation. (example)
Just wondering if I'm missing something and somehow can easily view and download old PKGBUILD's? ...and if not, why was this change made? Personally I found the old functionality to be really useful at times.
I did search the forums to see if anyone else had already asked this but didn't find anything. Apologies if the issue has already been raised and responded to, if so could someone please link me to the thread.

    You want the whole PKGBUILDs?
    http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/ … c7a420ac92
    Plain one for download http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/ … c7a420ac92
Maybe the change is related to the move from SVN to git.

  • How to reinstall old app purchased on iphone that is no longer available in App Store?

A couple years ago I purchased a Colorado maps app (I can't remember the name) from the App Store. The computer that I had it backed up on crashed, so I had to reinstall iTunes on a fresh hard drive.
I still have the backup files of the hard drive that had the app backed up on it. But I don't know how to access the files for that lost app.
Is there a way to reinstall or recover old apps no longer available in the app store from an old backup of itunes or something?
    Thanks

You're actually overthinking it. You have the backup of that app of your old HD, yes? On Vista, go to:
    c:\Users\[Username]\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Mobile Applications
The tricky part is finding the app name, since you've forgotten it, but try to go with the obvious names first. "Colorado.ipa" etc. Try Appshopper.com's search feature, to possibly refresh your memory. When you've found it, make a copy of it, and install it on your new iTunes Mobile Apps folder. Click on it, and let it load. You'll see it in iTunes (if you're using the same account as before). Good luck.

  • Gnome freezes with screen resolution change

I have on old Dell computer for learning Arch. I installed gnome
and my screen looks fuzzy. I checked the screen resolution it
was set beyond the recomended resolution of the monitor (1024X768).
I set the resolution to 1024X768 and clicked "apply". The resolution
changed and indeed looked sharper, but the computer immediatly froze.
I had to power down and up after which the settings were lost.
I have no idea if this is a hardware or software problem. It would
seem that (perhaps) if 1024X768 were put in a configuration file,
the problem might be averted. But what configuration file?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I believe you can change your default resolution in the file
    /etc/xorg.conf
Check this section of the wiki :

  • Automatic Screen Resolution Changes?

I have a Retina MBP 15".  When I use Mail or Safari, I like the setting set to "Best (Retina)", but when I use Photoshop, FCP or other media based apps, I like to change it my screen resolution to Scaled: "More Space".
Is there a way (in Automator or something else) to have the MBP trigger screen resoultion changes for certain apps? and then return it to the default upon quitting that application?
    Thanks

    Hello anitagold:
Welcome to HP's forum. Thank you for visiting us how ever you are on the wrong forum. You own a business Touchsmart witch has a total different operating system then home user's does. This section is for home user Touchsmarts. This is where you need to post http://h30499.www3.hp.com/ You will receive a much accurate respounce I also think they have live chat assistance as well during business hours on line as well. Your software is also different then ours is so it would not do you any good for me to give you direction on how to adjust your screen resolution. Because your computer even though they look a like on the outside they are not alike inside. Thank you frrw.

  • I have an Ipod Touch 5th Geneation and Windows Vista.  Unfortunately, everytime I plug in my Ipod, it changes my monitors display (resolution and bit from a 32 down to an 8)  How can I prevent this from happening everytime?  I am unable to read my screen

I have an Ipod Touch 5th gen and I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit Home Premium.  Unfortunately, everytime I plug in my ipod, my screen resolution changes and i go down to an 8 bit from 32...on its own.  I can I prevent this from happening every time I plug it in to my pc?

    All I can suggest is:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

You can also try rolling back the driver for your video card.

  • Facebook screen resolution changes automatically everytime on Mozilla Firefox 4. Other websites opens fine.

I have recently updated to Firefox 4. I am having many problems with this version.
I am unable to use Facebook properly. The Facebook screen resolution changes every time automatically. The screen resolution gets very big.
When I open the FB site the resolution will be fine as soon I open another tab to check other website and roll back to the FB tab the screen resolution gets big and can't get back to normal view.
I have to close the FB tab and open a new tab to put the FB URL to use it. When I try to view other tabs and then open the FB tab the screen resolution is changed.
I have problem with only FB on Firefox 4, other websites are working fine.
I also tried opening FB on IE8 and Chrome. Their the site is opening normal. Have no issues with their browsers. I spotted it to be a problem with Firefox 4 and also the IDM (Internet Download Manager) doesn't work on the FF4 where it used to work on the earlier version of FF.
Do something about the IDM integration with FF4 to download FLV,MP4 videos from YouTube and other websites.
There is no "Go back to multiple pages" button in a FF4 tab. It only allows us to go back to the previous page. If I have open 10 pages in a single tab then I have to click the back button 10 TIMES to open the last (10th page) but in the previous FF3 there is a facility to view all the pages in a drop down which the current version of FF4 doesn't have :-( I am using Windows XP 2 Professional 32-bit and owner of the computer.
Please fix the issues asap else I have to move back to the earlier version or have to shift to some other browser :

  • Screen resolution changes after opening PDF in preview and is enlarged.

Screen resolution changes after opening PDF in Preview and is enlarged.

    Do a backup.
    Quit Preview.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all.
    Containers/com.apple.Preview
    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileList.plist

  • Screen resolution changes every time I open I-Tunes

The screen resolution changes when I open I-Tunes. I have to go into control panel every-time to adjust the resolution to make the print and screen layout small enough so its entirety is captured which then allows me to use I-Tunes. Otherwise the graphics are too large to be captured on the screen making the program unusable.

  • Spontaneous screen resolution change

I am running OS X Maverick since a few days.
If I don't use my system, the screen "goes to sleep" after 10 min. (like I always had).
Since the OS X upgrade I have the problem that my screen resolution changes to 800 * 600 after when I "rewake" the screen (by pressing a key).
When I look in the system preferences, the screen resolution is set to "best for my screen"
I have to change it manually to the original setting (1280 * 960)
    Error in the screendriver????

  • Restart GKrellm on screen resolution change in KDE

    Hi all!
Any trusty GKrellm wizards still out there? Or KDE mastahs?
I much prefer GKrellm and dockapps for my system monitor needs and currently use the former as a panel in the top right corner on my KDE 4.5 desktop. It works great except for screen resolution changes where switching from larger to smaller resolutions and vice versa breaks the alignment to the right border of the screen.
My question is if there is a lean way, either through GKrellm, KDE or even bash/d-bus or similar to restart GKrellm (which is fast and good enough a solution for me) when I change resolution? Any ideas?
I wish KDE had as an option for "on resolution change, execute X". Come to think of it, I would like KDE to offer this option for power management state switches as well. Hmm, perhaps there should be a generalized "state-based" daemon for launching arbitrary external commands in KDE much like the tools available on Android phones these days, like Tasker, Locale and Setting Profiles...

No hints for how to do this? What about in Gnome?
