Screen resolution in Vista Ultimate in Boot camp cant' select HD

I am using a new imac 24" and can only seem to increase the screen resolution to 1600 x1200.
Shouldn't I be able to select HD 1080 x 1900

Best I can think of if your iMac has Nvidia chipset...
Download graphic driver directly from Nvidia.
Uninstall and delete the Apple driver.
Boot into Safe Mode and run "Driver Sweeper" (found on Guru3D along with instructions).

  • Vista Ultimate in Boot Camp doesn't connect to Internet

Brand new MBP, came loaded with Tiger; I immediately upgraded it to Leopard. Ran Boot Camp, partitioned HD, then loaded a new OEM version of Vista Ultimate. Then I inserted the Leopard disk and it added the drivers. Rebooted into Windows, and now I can't get on the internet. My airport network DOES show up, but it won't let me connect.
This is confusing - I've seen posts here where the wireless DOES work, and others where it doesn't. But nowhere have I seen any solutions.
    Anyone? Thanks.

"then loaded a new OEM version of Vista Ultimate"
I'm not saying that this is the problem for sure, but it could be. OEM version of Windows (any version) is specific to the computer it came pre-installed on. So the computer manufacturer COULD have made so the OS was not fully functional on any other computer. The agreements between computer manufacturers and MS can be pretty weird.
Are you having any other difficulty with Vista besides the internet problem?

  • How to increase screen resolution in Vista under boot camp?

I have installed Vista Home Premium under boot camp (OS X 10.5.7) but in preferences I can only get the maximum of 1280x960 while my screen resolution on SyncMaster P2250 in OS X is 1920x1080.
(I am using new Mac mini with NVIDIA GeForce 9400).
I have inserted Leopard disc in Vista and installed boot camp but still I can't make the resolution higher.

OK everything works fine! The problem was that after installation of Vista I was inserting old Leopard disc that I bought a year ago instead of inserting the Mac OS X installation disc that I got with new Mac mnini.
When I put the Mac OS X that was toghether with new Mac mini it installed missing driver and everything started working

  • Just installed windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. Problem is when I chose to boot the windows partition, I get the windows icon on the sreen showing that it is starting, but few second after I get a black screen

Just installed windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. Problem is when I choose to boot the windows partition, I get the windows icon on the screen showing that it is starting, but few second after, I get a blank screen. I suspect a driver (screen) issue, since I also installed Parallell using the boot camp partition and that works fine.
Do anybody out there has an ideal of what to do to solve this issue.
    Thanks

  • I bought macbook pro at cash america used and loaded with windows 7 ultimate by boot camp.My questions is it has mountain lion loaded but original ower has name with password so how can I reload so I can sign on as administrator for downloads and upgrades

I bought a 13 inch macbook pro9.2 at Cash America with windows 7 Ultimate with boot camp program.
The Mac op sytem has Mountain Lion installed but the previous ower has his name and password attached to it and can only use as guest.
My question is how do I get around this to be administrator to reload software so i can use mountain Lion, and not loose the windows op .

If you reformat the partition that contain Mountain Lion and reinstall Mountain Lion, it should not effect the Windows pratition.
Have said that I suggest you backup everything you might want to save just in case.

  • Boot Camp - HD selection screen

    Hello,
I have been searching for awhile and cannot find and information regarding this. I have a Razer Deathadder 3500 series mouse and when I go into the Boot Camp HD selection screen my mouse movements are inverted. Up is down and down is up. I am not sure why this is or how to fix it. Does anyone know?
    Thanks,
    Brad

Try a new post in the BootCamp USB, Mouse, etc. forum. This is the 10.6 forum and we don't cover BootCamp issues.

  • Vista SP1 using Boot Camp

I have a MacBook Pro and installed Vista SP1 using Boot Camp. Vista ran fine but I noticed that there's no bluetooth control panel anywhere (it seems like OS Leopard isn't installing drivers). Any suggestions? Thanks!

There is no such "prompt" to install your disc, other than the written word, of course.

  • Can i load windows vista even if boot camp only supports windows 7?

Can i still load windows vista, even if boot camp now only seems now to support windows 7? I had loaded it previously same mac same windows vista but took it off becuase of a hardware issue. now when i want to use it again (playing games mostly) i can load vista but all sotes of things are not working internet connection and graphics and the driver disk that is made through bootcamp says noy that in order to use it i need to be running windows 7 .
    Can anyone help
    Cheers
    Rob

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
On OS X Mountain Lion, Boot Camp only supports Windows 7, so you can't install Windows Vista or XP, and if you install Windows Vista or XP, you won't be able to install Boot Camp drivers because they aren't supported under XP and Vista.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X DVD (or the Snow Leopard DVD) that came with the computer and install Boot Camp drivers. If your Mac didn't come with DVDs, you can't get Boot Camp drivers for Vista

  • Can I upgrade Vista Home Basic to Vista Business using Boot Camp & Fusion

I have installed Vista Home Basic 32-bit through Boot Camp partition and am running this through Fusion 1.1. I need Fusion's capability of running Windows at the same time as my Leopard. Presently, this OS is running smoothly as are my peripherals, including my LAN networked printer. However,
I am told by VMware Fusion email tech support that they do not support Vista Home Basic. They would support a number of other Windows OSs including Vista Business which I can readily afford, or Vista Ultimate which would be much more difficult monetarily.
I am concerned that I will need Fusion's tech support in the future and thus am willing to do the upgrade to Vista Business or Ultimate if I have to. I have been informed that Home Basic is FAT32 but Business is NTFS; that FAT32 is Apple readable and writable, but NTFS is only readable. I am a newbie and don't know what that means.
It appears from what I can understand on MS Windows support forum topics that Ultimate is more compatible with Home Basic. Could someone with technical expertise please help advise which way is best to go with this, and if I have to, which upgrade to choose; and, how to go about installing without messing up what is already working.
I'd really appreciate help with this as I have over a month trying to get this right and have had to communicate with tech support of various companies, do several complete deletions of partitions and reinstalls of various OSs and other software needed to accommodate my PC needs. My frustration level is really high at this point. Thanks to whomever is wiling to help this struggling newbie.

Thank you, The Hatter, for answering so quickly.
You asked about my needs. I use Apple OS capable Word to create documents, but often need data from a PC-only CD that was loaded on my Toshiba laptop for these documents which I share with others via email attachment sometimes from PC side and sometimes from Apple side depending on whether I still have things to add to the file and of course need to print from PC side also. That's why Fusion's side-by-side and drag and drop capabilities are perfect for me (I actually used to try to email the document to myself and go to my Toshiba to retrieve it, complete the document and email back, but MS Outlook often failed to operate.) I also receive from a friend, sound files created in PC format that I previously used Roxio to burn to CD. (Haven't gotten this running yet, apparently info I saw online about which Roxio v. would work with VHome Basic was wrong).
When I am traveling and away for 2-3 weeks, I need to have everything on one laptop so I gave up my iMac w/Tiger v10.4, which I loved, for a new Macbook Pro to get the duo core, with a 23" Cinema Display. After reading Apple discussion forum and talking to Apple Sales, decided to get Fusion to run both OS simultaneously (this part works beautifully). I need to be able to print from the PCVM (which I've finally resolved).
RE XP: In my conversations with Fusion tech supp. I was given instructions to load my XP Pro directly in VM w/o Boot Camp, telling me BC was unnecessary because Fusion could do partitioning and everything else necessary, so I scrapped everything and tried to do a new install, but their detailed instructions wouldn't allow installation. When I emailed them of the problem, they didn't reply. I really needed to get my PCVM up and running so went back to scrubbing everything and beginning again using Boot Camp and Vista Home. If there is a way to use use my XP upgrade with or without BC, I'd be happy to, but don't know how to go about it. I ordered Vista Bus. full on a special promo online for $127 but it hasn't arrived yet, so I believe I could return it if I don't need it. Will I need to scrap everything again and start over, or can I install the XP Pro upgrade with where I am now? Will the Vista capable application software be able to work with XP? How do I check whether my current partition is NTFS? What is MacFUSE, do I need it, and if so where can I get it? Is it expensive? I've really over-extended having to purchase things I believed I needed to proceed.
I also have a Seagate 500 firewire for backing up my Leopard using Time Machine. Boot Camp partitioned the 500 for Leopard and PC using FAT32, but Seagate TS tells me that I can't use both OSs and that's why I can't see the PC partition in the Fusion desk top. Fusion TS tells me that I can't use FAT32 to back up Vista. Stymied again! So, I just found a Seagate 300 Free Agent to back up the PC side if I need to I have 13 days to decide.
    Suggestions...instructions?
Again, thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I'm really grateful. I have tried to keep notes on what I've done and how, but I've scrapped everything and redone things so many times, I'm just confused at this point.

  • Two ATI video cards in Vista 32 with Boot Camp

    Hello,
I just installed a second ATI Radeon 1900 video card in my 2007 Mac Pro. It seems to work fine while in OS X, I can adjust and use three different monitors at once. However, while in Vista 32, only two monitors on one card will work and the video is mirrored. I tried adjusting it in the control panel but it could only see one monitor. I also tried to install the ATI catalyst manager but I cannot seem to find the application, it seems to not install correctly. The two screens worked fine before installing another video card of the same model. Is there anything I can do to get all three screens to work correctly?
    Thanks for any help

I have used the Expansion Slot Utility to change several different settings. I tried one where the original card was on x16 and the second card was on a x1 or x2, and another attempt where both cards were on x8. For use with OS X it didn't make a huge difference, they all worked fine. However in Vista, I cannot get the cards to work when both are installed. The card will function fine in x8 or x16 while it's on it's own but when the second one is connected no card works well. I have installed catalyst and new drivers, in Vista. When only one card is installed the ati driver works fine and catalyst can control the monitor. With the second card installed the driver doesn't load. I have also updated the firmware with the boot camp firmware ati update.
Thanks for any help or suggestions, I may go back to VGA splitter for Vista.

  • BSOD w/Vista 32bit after Boot Camp 2.1 update - bluetooth related?

Ok, so 2.1 has officially hosed my Boot Camp installation now - I was really hoping for access to more than 2GB of RAM on my Mac Pro but instead I'm blessed with BSOD every 20 seconds - thanks! This seems to be somewhat random but I figured out that I can actually cause it pretty easily by opening Internet Explorer 7 and trying to type into the Live Search bar - I'm using an Apple bluetooth (aluminum) keyboard and it almost seems to be related - my password doesnt show up when I type it in at Vista log in either and its really funky when it does work.
I installed my Boot camp drivers from the Mac Pro (2008) disc that came with my MP - didn't have any troubles with those - all I really wanted was to use another GB or 2 of RAM..... instead I get constant lockups.

You need the 64-bit version of Vista for one thing to use more than 1.9GB RAM.
Most of the problems people have with SP1 update have been pre-existing 'dirty file system'
To backup or clone Vista, I would use WinClone from OS X, or use Vista Businss/Ultimate before hand to backup files and system and make sure you have a good restore point before applying updates. Taht is one thing I would like to see Apple do, which MS updates often will.

  • Blank screen when installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp - Mac Mini 2011

I'm new to the Mac scene, having barely any knowledge on the OS.
I've been trying to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp on my new Mac Mini (Latest offering from Apple).
I have an External DVD Drive which I have been using, connected via two USB's to the back of the Mac Mini itself. It's fully functioning, with the Mac recognizing the Drive. I've used it for some CD's and DVD's so far.
I have a full, licensed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, bought from the Microsoft Store on a DVD. There's both a 64bit and 32bit DVD, of which I have tried both to install Windows 7.
I've been through the Boot Camp Assistant software, un ticking both the "Create a Windows 7 install disk" and "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" because I already have the Windows 7 install disk. I've had troubles downloading the Windows support software from Apple, as it just stops about 1/4 of the download for no apparent reason.
So once I've made the partition, I insert the Windows 7 DVD into the External Disk Drive, and it reboots. At first it looks like the Disk Drive is working, as you can hear the Disk movement and a blue light on the front of the Disk Drive... But then the screen goes blank, and the Disk stops spinning (from what I can tell). Nothing else happens from then on.
Is there any reason as to why this is happening?
    Thanks, Dominic

Yes. Booting from a USB-DVD to install Windows
The MacBook Air has extra drivers. Some people have edited the script preference plist to add their model Not all USB DVD devices may or may not work.
Burning electronic versions like an ISO or in .exe format you will see threads where that is the issue.

  • Data sharing between OSX and WinXP/Vista partition in boot camp

Due to software and external hardware issues, i need to revert back to an XP/Vista setup but would like to keep 1 computer to minimise having multiple copies/versions of data e.g. music, video, photos and office related docs.
If i perform a boot camp install, will the following scenarios work?
    1) Have 1 large OSX partition which will store all my data. Will WinXP be able to read/write/delete data on the OSX partition
    2) Have 1 large WinXP partition which will store all my data. Will OSX be able to read/write/delete data on the WinXP partition (Assuming i have the NTFS-3g software installed)
    3) Have 1 (for arguments sake) 30GB OSX, 1 30GB WinXP and a third partition formatted as NTFS to hold my data.
Scenario 3 would appear to be the most sensible option as it keeps data away from the OSess so if i loose one, the data will be intact regardless.
Which brings me to my final question:
If i have to reinstall OSX, would i loose the WinXP partition in the process?
    Many thanks!

Along with MacFUSE, take a look at MacDrive7 for Windows to read/write to HFS Extended volumes.
    WinClone to backup Windows XP/Vista
Reinstall or restore? either way, and you really should never need to reinstall if you take an hour to backup (clone) or use TimeMachine (or combination of both).
I think Boot Camp Assistant is far too much of one-way only in not allowing or supporting more than one partition for OS X and one for Windows.
You can shrink OS X volume and create a partition out of free space. Or you can shrink Windows Vista (probably XP also) and partition that (but that can confuse OS X startup disk or boot manager "Option key.").
MacFUSE has had the side effect of making "Windows" volume not show up in OS X Startup Disk also.
I'd say MacDrive7 is your best bet without requiring an external drive (but do have one or two for your backups).

  • In-built speaker issue: Vista 32-bit/Boot Camp

    Heya all!
I can't seem to get my new MacBook 2.0GHz to behave with the speakers! The one on the right seems to be functioning reasonably well, albeit a little quietly, but the one on the left is very quiet, and takes a while to turn on when told to play sound. I have the Realtek Drivers installed from the OSX disc, but as I say, can't seem to find a solution. Does anyone know what I can do, or, failing that, what drivers to download/install/reinstall for Vista so I can try again?
    Cheers!
    TC

Nix that, installed the Boot Camp drivers a second time, seems to have fixed it. Now, if only I could get half the blinking Windows apps to behave... but that's another story. :P
