Screen saver and IP conflict

Hello,
In the recent weeks, I've noticed that when my MAC's screen saver's comes on, that when I log back in that I often get a message that there is an IP address conflict.
It is annoying because I have to re authenticate to all my open RDP and Citrix sessions!!!
Thanks

Something else on your network has the same IP address.
Did you try and find out what other device has the same IP?

  • Screen Saver and Size of Background - Help, please!

    Hello there!
I have a brand new Dell computer from Best Buy. With my last computer (Gateway), I was able to set up an automatic screen saver of a slideshow of pictures if my computer was not used for a certain amount of minutes.
With this new computer, I have set up the same settings, but the screen saver NEVER comes on. I have clicked everything I need to, accepted, and saved the settings, but it never works. Any ideas?
I decided to try and fix it myself, so I went into the Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Change Screen Saver, and then went into Power Settings to see if maybe the display wasn't working for this reason. I cannot remember what I did, but now the background picture is HUGE.
To fix this, I have gone into screen resolution and display/power settings, but everything seems to be set to "recommended", so I cannot figure out what happened to make the images so large suddenly.
    1) Can you help me get the screen saver slideshow to activate?
    2) How do I get my background pictures back to normal size?
Thank you so much for your help!!! I really appreciate it.

Wow, so sorry for the hype delayed response. it could be that your laptop was timing out for powersave before the screensaver would kick in. The best thing to do is go into your screen saver, set it to 1 minute and then let it sit for a minute without touching it (with it plugged in). It should kick in. Again, most laptops cut the monitor off after just a few minutes to conserve the power of the battery. I'm glad that the other solution worked for you =)

  • Screen saver and wallpaper

I want to use my own photos as the screen saver and wallpaper - how do I do this ?

    Hi there soniastojanovic!
I have an article here that can tell you exactly how to do that:
    Mac Basics: Change your desktop
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2478
Here are the instructions from the article:
Of course, you can turn any of your own photos or artwork into a desktop picture too. Here's how to do this:
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
In the window, click Desktop & Screen Saver, then click the Desktop tab to display just the desktop preferences.
If you want to use a photo from your iPhoto Library, select Library in the left pane. Otherwise, select Choose Folder, navigate to and select the folder that contains your image, and click Choose.
In the right pane, click any thumbnail to place the image on the desktop.
Depending on the size of your chosen image, you can opt to tile or center it if it's small. Note: Your image will look pixelated or have jagged edges if it's too small. Or have the image fill the screen, or stretch to fill the screen. Just choose an item from the pop-up menu that appears above the thumbnails, the one next to the thumbnail of your current picture.
If an image is too small to display satisfactorily as a full screen image,
you can choose Tile from the pop-up menu.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Screen saver and screen sleep not working consistently

Recently with one of the most recent updates my screen saver and screen sleep stopped activating when they should.  Sometimes I leave the room and come back an hour later only to find my screen is on and no screen saver.  I have screen saver set for 5 minutes and screen sleep set for 10 minutes (regardless of battery or plugged in state).  I have tried changing them and reserving to no avail.  Any way to fix this?
    Thanks.

When was the last time you restarted your computer or even repaired permissions?
Try trashing the ~/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.systempreferences.plist file and restarting the computer.

  • Screen Saver and Dock and Mail all not working properly

I'm helping my husband troubleshoot some issues he is having. His machine is a new (couple of months) Mac Pro Quad Intel with 10.6.2.
He has never been able to get the ScreenSaver to 'see' iPhotos. iPhotos completely quit launching today and I did everything I read on the boards, finally settling on deleting and reinstalling from the Snow Leopard disk. It works fine, but Screensaver still does not see it. I have deleted, the com.apple.screensaver caches and anything in preferences that had to do with screensaver including the plist. I restarted the machine and it made no difference, other than the hot corners finally started working.
It won't keep certain applications in the dock. Like Word. They disappear every time the machine is restarted. As above.. I have deleted the com.apple.doc.db and com.apple.dock.plist to no avail.
This just started today as well... When the mail has when the program has been Quit, with every 30 minutes set in the mail preferences, it will launch, every 30 minutes. The dock icon will bounce and Mail will ask for the password so it can check for new mail. But the program was not open for it to be checking for mail. Oddly, something like this is also happening on his old G5 sitting in the other room. The only thing common to them is they are on the same network and pulling email from the same ISP account. Though the G5 is no longer scheduled to actively get new mail at any time, it is for some reason self-launching. I have no idea why my mail was open on that machine when I saw it this afternoon, but there it was.
It is a lot of issues. He has been having issues since he got the machine and gets one resolved and then discovers another one. But the Dock and ScreenSaver he has never been able to resolve, Mail is a new issue. He has re-installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 twice thinking something had become corrupted, I am using the same OS X on my machine and having no issues, I can see no difference in the settings. If I can't get some ideas from y'all here then I guess I am going to have to go to tech support because it seems to be one weird thing after another.

Even in big sky country, people must know where the Desktop resides. It's what's on the screen when all windows are closed. Thus, move the om.apple.screensaver.XXXXX.plist file in the ByHost subfolder out of there and put it on the Desktop. The next statement: +*System Preferences->Desktop & Screen Saver->and iPhoto should be available.*+ means open System Preferences, select the Desktop & Screen Saver prefPane (preference pane) and in the listing should appear iPhoto. It does on my machine. If not, then restart and see if the iPhoto folder appears in that prefPane.

  • Hi  I have just been given a macbook 13'' A1181 it has a brocken screen so I have linked to my dell screen and all I  get is my sons old screen saver and the arrow but cannot open anything where  ever I click. Any suggestions please my first apple

hi I have been given my sons macbook 13'' A1181 it has a brocken screen so I have linked it to my dell screen and only get his old screen saver and the arrow but where ever I click nothing opens up It is my first time with an apple computer could anybody advise?

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Display there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

  • Random screen saver and iPhoto

I use the random screen saver function but would really prefer that it not use images from iPhoto. I have hunted through the screen saver panel and through iPhoto prefs looking for a way to stop the screen saver function from using iPhoto data, but can't find such an option. I've taken to "hiding" iPhoto data by renaming its data folders and/or moving them to alternate locations, but each time I use iPhoto, everything gets "refound" and applied back to the screen saver library.
Is there a reasonable way to stop the (random) screen saver from insisting that it must use iPhoto data?
    -brian

not on my mac right now, but i am pretty sure you can choose "folder" within the iphoto screen saver settings - and choose which folder you want to use.

  • Screen saver and .mac or mobileme

I just upgraded to 10.5.4 and am trying to set up my screen saver to look at a gallery on my .mac(mobileme) account. But when I enter my username...ssssss it says that I don't have any pictures available. Suggestions? Thanks....

I spent 4 hours with mobileme chat over the weekend and was not able to solve the problem on my MacBook Pro at my vacation location. They wanted me to test it at home where I have an Airport Extreme and an Alu iMac. ....The outcome..the same...I can not connect.. so I will be getting back to them today or tomorrow...

  • I recently upgraded to 0S 10.6.8 on mab pro and now have pink lines around the desktop borders. A horrible red colour appears in the background of the screen saver, and in parts of Safari and other applications including MS Office. please help

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to SL OS 10.6.8 and now have pink lines around the desktop borders and some menus. There is also a horrible red colour that appears in the background of photobooth and parts of Safari. The screen saver looks like an alien life form with red in the background. There are odd translucent colours in the background of other applications including MS Office. It looks like a horrible psychedilic trip from the 60's. I ran the upgrade again but nothing changed. Can you help?

Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, under the Utilities menu > Disk Utiltiy > Repair Disk, and Repair Permissions
(quit and stop if Disk Repair (only) issues a failure and notify us)
Quit and install 10.6 again, reboot and Software Update again,  this time download it and then run it. Check Software Update until clear.
c boot off the 10.6 disk and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk again (fixes a bug)
Reboot and check any installed programs, some may not function who have installed kext files into OS X, those need to be reinstalled.
You didn't mention if you upgraded from 10.5 or 10.6.7, the above steps are for fixing a 10.6 to 10.6.8
If you upgraded from 10.5, you should erase the drive in Disk Utility first, then install 10.6 fresh, but then all your programs will have to be reinstalled or updated from original sources.
Also the 10.6.3 upgrade disk has no free iLife, but you can install 10.5 fresh then upgrade to 10.6.3, then to 10.6.8 and then all new programs and that will give free iLife that came on the factory 10.5 disks.
You also can use Pacifist to extract iLife from 10.5 disks.

  • Unavailablity of screen saver and contact group im...

    Hello
I have nokia 5230 nuron and 3110c handset
even the basic java phones has the option like screen saver contact group image why the 5230 symb. set doesn't having those option
    prakash

The 5230 is a touch screen, and the screen lock therefore turns the screen off, making it basically pointless to have a screen saver option since the screen is turned off once you lock it. Also, the screen saver on idle has been removed for battery saving concerns since the large screen would eat up the battery in no time. If you really prefer to have a screen saver instead of having your battery last the day through, you can download lockscreen apps which allow screen savers.
As for the contact group images, I cant remember if my last java phone (5610) had that, but I cant see the point of having it when the phone shows you the contact's image when they call, meaning you really wouldnt see the contact group image anywhere of worth.

  • Screen Saver and Display Sleep No Longer Work

    My set up:
Mac Pro (stock) w/ 3GB RAM running 10.4.8.
Two ADC displays connected via ADC to DVI adapters
    Issue:
Recently I've noticed neither my screen saver nor display sleep work. I can get the machine to sleep manually, but not automatically. My energy settings have the display sleeping after 10 min w/ the computer and HDs never sleeping. Screen Saver is set to go on after 5 min.
My MP used to go into screen saver -> display sleep mode fine. I don't know exactly when the issues started, but probably around 10.4.8. I have not installed any major software recently other than normal Apple updates.
    What I've tried:
I've tried resetting the Energy Setting and Screen Saver Prefs and then doing a restart.
If anyone has an idea what is preventing my MP from going into screen saver -> display sleep mode please post. This is driving me nuts.
    MacBook Pro 1.83 (7200 HD)/ MacPro 2.66/ mini 1.5Ghz / PBG4 1.25Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Turned out a bad USB device was preventing sleep. Once I removed it the display went to sleep like a baby.

  • Windows Screen Saver and Monitor Status

How do I communicate to windows to find the Windows screen saver status and the monitor status?
    Tim
    Johnson Controls
    Holland Michigan

I don't know the particular API calls you need for that, but here's the general way to access Windows innards:
Use the CALL LIBRARY function, and point it to ADVAPI32.dll.
This particular call is set up to call "GetUserNameA", returning the logged-in user's name.
If there's an API for what you need, then configure this function to go call it.

  • Screen Saver and NAS

    Hi,
I have a Synology NAS (DSM 209+) and I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and Aperture 3.4.1
    all latest available software
My photos are stored on my NAS, so aperture is using referenced files.
But since I upgrade to Mountain Lion, my screen Saver doesn't work anymore.
First, subfolder images are not taken in account. I can't use my NAS folders
Second, aperture library is not working. It says 'loading photos' for ever
Do you have the same issue ?
    Can you help me ?
Please apple stop doing updates like that !!!!!!!!!
