Screen saver can't find my pictures in iPhoto since I installed Lion

Since I've downloaded Lion the screen saver starts by saying looking for pictures and then goes to the selected folder contains no pictures.  When I know they are there and I've just set the screen saver in system preferences and tested it.

I'm trying to use me photos from Iphoto as my screen saver.  many of the pictures heads are cut off.  How do I get the pictures to fit the screen properly and not look distorted?

Restoring a backup is specific to the backup program you are using to do your daily backups - consult it's manual, help file or author's support site
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library starting with the first option and trying others until you are succesful

  • Can't find my pictures in iphoto

Helllo, I am new to the iMac and having some start up problems. I use photoshop cs4 for photo editing and I just edited a pic. I want to access it in iPhoto now but I can't find the picture. I try to import the new pic but it tells me it is already in the library. I go to search and type the filename and it doesn;t find anything This is really frustrating can someone help me?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Below is the correct way to use Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

The photos you've already edited with Photoshop are in the library but iPhoto doesn't know they are there. Also since they are inside the library package iPhoto assumes they have already been imported and won't import again.
If you can find just those photos you edited with PS and don't show up in iPhoto and move them to the desktop you can import them. However, do not rename, move or otherwise change the contents of the iPhoto library from the Finder. That is the cardinal sin if iPhotol

  • Screen Saver can not find iTunes 8.1.1 artwork

I recently upgraded my G5 to OS X 10.5.7 and iTunes 8.1.1 from 10.4.11 and iTunes 7.6.1. iTunes 8 has made two changes that disappoint me.
#1 is my screensaver can not find my iTunes artwork. My setup is a G4 with iTunes files on an external HD and a (networked) G5 that shares that external HD for iTunes. The G5 could find the iTunes artwork for the screensaver when running 10.4 and iTunes 7 but now with 10.5 and iTunes 8 the link to the artwork is lost. But the artwork IS there for coverflow, etc. in iTunes. Have I lost my favorite screensaver?
#2 is the removal of checkboxes in iTunes DJ. I USED those (to keep songs from re-appearing)!
    Tracy

    Hi Tracy
Have you managed to resolve this problem?
I'm having the exact same problem with the artwork screen saver.
I upgraded from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 and at roughly the same time (same day) upgraded to iTunes 8.1.1. Shortly afterwards I noticed my screen saver no longer working and the error about "no artwork found" came up. In iTunes - all my artwork is still there for each song and album etc. Front Row also displays the artwork properly.
I've tried deleting plist files, pref files and all that but nothing works.
It may seem trivial because it's only a screen saver but it's very annoying since it was the only screen saver I liked and used.
    Any help is appreciated. Regards
    Marcel.

  • I can't find my pictures on iPhoto

i downloaded photos from my phone (iPhone 5c) to my iMac OS X back in May and it was around 4000 photos. i clicked delete (when it had finished importing) so they would come off my phone and onto the computer. i have looked many times on iPhoto and can't find them. I'm not sure if it because i imported too many pictures or i did something wrong. if this has happened to anyone before where can i find them?

    Do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

    1. No.
    2. Yes.
    3. Some apps for dealing with duplicates in iPhoto
    iPhoto Library Manager
    Duplicate Annihilator
    Decliner
    iPhoto Duplicate Cleaner

  • Screen saver can't recognize .jpg files in photo folder

I just upgraded my iMac G4 (power PC) from OS X 10.1.3 to OS X 10.4.8 and am having a serious problem with my screensaver (I guess serious is a bit blown out of proportion since for me it is a fancy feature to show off family photos). I know where to look to find my own picture files. And thankfully I don't have the problem of not getting the option to choose my own file like I noticed others have had. But when I go to my pictures file in my home, the screen saver just doesn't recognize picture file formats (I've tried .jpg and .pdf). The files are there in the list, they are just listed in grey and not selectable. Thus the screensaver is black and says in white writing that there are no pictures in my file. I'm stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   recently updated from 10.1.3

I know you don't select individual photo files for the screen saver, but when I pick a folder (that contains photos recognizable by preview or iphoto) that is in my "photos" file in my home, the screen saver does not recognize that there are any photo files in it. And by the way, downloading new .jpg files from my camera in my new OS X 10.4.8 did not solve the problem. The strange thing is that the "desktop" program can see the files (both old photos that were created in OS X 10.1.3 and my newly created files). Weird and annoying!

  • Where can i find the pictures from massager?

Hello, i have a little problem, i can't find my imassanger pictures in a folder or sth else. Where can i find the pictures?
    Thanks for help:)

It takes a few steps but it's doable.
Start with the contact. Tap edit. Tap edit under the photo. Tap edit photo in the window that opens, take a screen shot. Tap outside of the photo, tap done.
Now we go to Camera Roll.  Choose the screen shot you just took. Tap edit. Put two fingers on the photo and separate them to enlarge it. Take another screen shot. Squeeze the photo back to normal size.
    Your photo is ready.
Why they don't just save the contact photo in the first place I'll never know.

  • Please help, I can't find the pictures which I took with my camera. Its like I never took them

I can't find the pictures which I took on my camera, I still have lots of memory left, they are hidden or something . Oh and the other thing is that when I'm trying to save a picture as something that I like its say the the directory is full even when I put a single letter. I have a huge space on my memory card, I don't know what's wrong . Please help. Thanks

See if you can boot into safe mode by holding down the shift key immediately after pressing the start button. Keep holding the shift key till a loading progress bar appears on the lower part of the screen. It will take a lot longer than normal to start this way. If you have Lion 10.7 installed you can try holding command-R  keys to get intto recovery mode and run disk utility.

  • Where can I find my picture files in the finder?

I download iPhoto with another person's account, so I never could update the new versions; because I don't know the password, and the person cannot enter to the account anymore. Now apple doesn't let me open iPhoto, because the version is too old, 9.2.1 to be exclaty.  Where can I find my picture files in the finder, so I can export them and save them?

There should be an iPhoto Library in the Users> "user account" > Pictures folder.
You may also try to see about finding them through the user finder window where it says search for 'all images.'
Not sure about the rest of that situation.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Where can I find my pictures in Time Machine?

In the Finder I can find my pictures after right-clicking IPhoto and then under Originals. But when I open Time Machine and want to check if my data have been backuped correctly I can find my music and documents but not my Pictures. Where can I find them?

Open iPhoto and select Browse Backups from the File menu. iPhoto's library is stored in the /Home/Pictures/ folder.

  • Can't find the pictures after moving the library to EHD

I followed the instructions of moving the iphoto library to the external HD. I created an alias and moved it to the Pictures folder. I opened IPhoto and I can see all the events and thumbnails, however when I try to open any picture and I get the message that the picture is not found. I guess is that the picture files are located outside the library. the library has the pointers to the old folders....
I have 17000 pictures, how can I find each of them?
I tried opening IPhoto with the "option" key pressed and choosing the library in the EHD. I get the same result. I can see all the events and thumbnails but It can't find the pictures.

Did you try opening and checking the validity of your library before you copied it back to the EHD? By not finding some of the photos do you mean you get the "!" window when you double click on a thumbnail?
If so then try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1 and #6.
If all else fails create a new empty library on the EHD and do the following: sart over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
Then you can compare the number of photos between this library and the other to see if either is more complete.

  • I upgraded to the new operating system, OS Yosemite. When I open iPhoto, I can't find my pictures that were downloaded over the last two years. Where are they?

I upgraded operating systems and now I can't find my photos in iPhoto. There are only random photos, but I can't find all the other albums I had. Where are they?

    Silly question first... when "deleting duplicates", did you delete the picturs or music folders? :}
Are the "Previous system" folders still there? Are the photos/music inside the recent Previous folder?
Have you tried doing a search for the files?
Do you have a new account set up, that you are now signed in to, rather than your old account?
