Screen Saver Come On When Unwanted

OK, this one has me stumped. It started about a week ago.
Using 10.5.8 on a Dual G5 Power Mac, the screen saver comes on even though all of the Preferences settings are set to be off. This happens even when there are computer processes going on, such as recording a long movie screen capture using SnapZPro for example.
The Screen Saver preference pane Time slider is all the way to NEVER. All the Hot Corners are set to nothing. Yet it still comes on.
I could not find a Screen Saver .plist to trash in order to try and reset it.
Any suggestions for a fix?
Thanks in advance.

Also take a look at the Energy Saver settings for when the display is set to go blank / dark / turn off.

  • Screen saver fails immediately when launched.  Anyone know what the porblem is?

On MacOS 10.6.7, screen saver started failing when launched. It briefly displays and then immediately dies. At first the problem was intermittant. Now is always fails.

    Hey Kce919,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. The next step may be to force close the iTunes application:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
Before reopening, it may be a good step to sign out of the iTunes & App Store via Settings:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If the above does not resolve your issue, the next best step will be to restore your iPhone using a computer with iTunes. Please be sure to backup your iPhone first.

  • IChat signs off when screen saver comes on

If I ever leave my computer for the 10 minutes or so that it takes for the screen saver to come on, I'm kicked offline. When I get back to the regular screen it automatically signs me back on, but I want to stay online the entire time, not sign off and sign back on. Even if I change my screen saver settings to a longer period of time before it comes on, my computer still goes into some energy saving mode after only a few minutes, kicking me offline.
Is there a way to prevent this?

My Screen saver on my XP (BootCamp) nor my MacBook Pro in OS 10.5.1 do not do this.
I see nothing in Screen Savers or Energy Saver that would cause this.
It is almost like your computer is thinking it is Asleep whilst still displaying the Screen Saver. (Macs always cut Network connections on Sleep)

  • ITunes crashes when screen saver comes on

Hello. When my screensaver comes on, iTunes stops playing. When I wake my computer from the screensaver, there is a window on my computer saying that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I'm forced to shut iTunes down.
Anyone encountered this, and have a solution??
    Please help! Thanks!
    My specs:
    Windows Vista RC2
    iTunes 7.0.2.16

If I read it right, the advice there is to turn off the screen saver and turn it back on all the time. Not terribly helpful.
I am having this same problem, it started when I downloaded/upgraded iTunes 7.0.2.16, before that it was no problem.
I have also had intermittent problems with iTunes playing one some in a playliest twice (repeat is not clicked, it will play a couple of sonds then repeat one then play a few more then repeat one) and once it played the same sone twice at the same time, about 10 seconds out of sync, which was very odd.
Is this a bug in the new version, or does anybody know a fix? Help is appreciated!

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Boot from your install disc and run Disk Utility in case the startup disk needs repairs.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space
If you cannot boot from your install disc, try booting in Safe Mode You can run Disk Utility from there.

  • Screen that comes up when a tcode is executed

    Dear experts,
the screen  with various fields that comes up when a Standard tcode is executed is determined by what settings? i mean are the fields standard, or customized? If customized, please how is this done?

    Bisolaaina,
At a very basic level, SAP maps the Tcode to a program.  When you enter the Tcode, SAP executes the program.
Each program can have one or more screens attached to it.  Most standard SAP screens allow some kind of customization.  Some of the screens can be altered in configuration, some can only be changed using ABAP.
It is possible to create customized Tcodes, which can execute customized screens, or can even execute customer created programs (commonly called 'Z programs' because the customer program names usually begin with a Z or a Y)
For more information about this topic, you are advised to consult with an ABAP developer.
If you really want to get into detail on your own, here is a link that gives an overview of ABAP (the programming language upon which SAP is based).  Although this doc is a bit dated, 'screens' are covered pretty well.

  • Why won't my screen saver come on?

I recently had the hard drive on my MBNP re-formatted and now the screen saver does not come on.  I have made several different adjustments to the Desktop/Screen saver preferences and to the Energy Saving preference and nothing seems to work.  I have set the computer and display to NEVER turn off, I have set the computer to NEVER turn off and the display to turn off in X minutes.  Neither choice sems to work.  Withy both set to NEVER the computer and desktop display justb stays on all of the time.  With the computer set5 to NEVER the display goes black after the set number of m inutes but the screen saver doesn't begin.  I have tried to set it for different possibilities but always get the same result, nothing. HELP please.

    MrRules,
If in fact you are running 10.7.2, you should run software update to bring it up to 10.7.5.
You can also try a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Follow directions for a battery you should not remove yourself/or which applies to your computer
    Also try a NVRAM/PRAM reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Also check your system preferences, energy saver, screen saver, and also check that wake for network is not checked, as well as blue tooth...

  • Screen Saver activates even when disabled

OK, this is not a huge deal, I'm just annoyed that my computer doesn't do what I tell it to. I'm not sure if this issue is specific to the mbp or is an issue with OS X. I am running 10.5.1 on a newer 17" mbp. I set screen saver to "Never," but it activates anyway. The worst part of it is that if I also set the display to "sleep when it is inactive for: x mins," and the screen saver activates afterwards, the display will wake and not sleep again. This forces me to set the display to sleep after a longer period than I normally would. Does anyone have a solution to this issue? Does anyone have a similar problem? Thanks, in advance, for any help.

    Howdy...
I have this same problem. I can be typing away and my screen saver will activate by itself. Very annoying.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
    Thanks!
    Best,
    Ben

  • Screen saver starting even when disabled

Just today, my screen saver started to kick in after about 10 minutes of inactivity. The problem is, I've disabled the screen saver by setting it to "never." I've also set all of the energy saver prefs to "never."
Before today, the screen saver never started. What could be causing this? A corrupt prefs file?

The only thing I can think of is to make sure you don't have hot corners set in the screensaver preferences pane. If the screen saver just turns on randomly no matter where the mouse is, then that is really strange.

  • Since downloading the latest Firefox my Adobe Flashplayer stops working when the screen saver comes on

I like to listen to internet radio while i'm working, but since downloading the newest version of Firefox each time the screen goes into powersaver mode the radio goes off.

Try "Secure Padlock" in the Search Firefox Help box above.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
First go from the 12 to 12.1 Update (See Help Menu/Update).
Assuming that you are running your program on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit and that the program was installed to the default Local Disc C location
    Go to
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements 12
and in the Premiere Elements 12 Folder are:
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe
    and
    Adobe Premiere Elements.exe
Double click the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe file. Does the program open to its Welcome Screen?
You say that you are instructing the Welcome screen to open with Welcome screen by going to settings and selecting Welcome
Screen, followed by Done. Are you hitting Done as your final action there before you close out of the program and reopen it?
If so, if you cannot set for Welcome Screen, can you set for Organizer or Video Editor with the Welcome Screen settings?
    More later.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • How to stop the screen saver?

Twice in the past two weeks, the screen saver come on when i'm watching a moving and pressing the D key or esc doesn't get it to disappear.  I've been powering off entirely and i know this isn't good.  Any advice as to what might be causing this and of course, how to correct it when its happening will be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Try resetting the NVRAM.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
    Release the keys.

  • My Ipad (4?) screen went black but I can hear it. I tried hitting both the sstart button and sleep button for 10 seconds and the apple icon comes up, my screen saver shows for 1 second and it returns to black screen again. I can hear SIRI. How do I fix?

I had been using the IPAD and all of a sudden it started talking back to me and when swiping apps to close them they would not close. She (the IPAD) kept talking back to me such as "use three fingers" etc. Then the screen went blank and if I touched it I could get it to beep at various touch points. SIRI would also communicate, but the screen stayed black.
As was suggested here, I tried getting a reboot by holding the sleep key with the home key and after 10 seconds the apple logo shows and 5 seconds later my screen saver comes on for just one second, and then it goes back to a black screen. SIRI tells me shes not available and someone else, must be her sister, says things like 90%, 85%, 80% if I continually swipe the screen. Can anyone help me?

    Hello, Juniorjr2.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like screen curtain may be enabled.  Screen curtain is a feature that allows display privacy.  To disable screen curtain while VoiceOver is enabled, you can three finger triple tap the screen to disable this feature.  You may need to press the home button once in order to process these steps.  If you wish to disable VoiceOver, see the link in the article below.
