Screen Saver Engine in MacBook Pro 2010

Hi,
I have, by mistake moved my Screen Saver Engine from it's desired position and now the Screen Saver does not work, unless I open it in Utilities. Does anyone have any idea of it's original position.
Thank you in advance.
Smithy26r.

Thank you for the answer. I just noticed that when i now plugged in the power adapter, the problem went away. It might surface again after a while, but it could also be that it only occurs while on battery power. Could you test if it occurs for you after having it running only on battery for a while just so I can rule out that possibility?

  • Grey screen and continuous beeping (macbook pro 2010)

Hi, I unplugged my computer from its display/keyboard/HDD setup to use it portably and then upon waking it from sleep - it froze and a continuous beeping began from within the computer.
When I started the computer I get the bong and white/grey screen (completely blank) and the beeping begins immediately. But thats as far as it goes.
I've looked online and there's a lot said about RAM related beeping but having removed the RAM i know this not to be the case as the beeping I hear is much quieter and far more regular than any of the loud RAM beeps.
Safe boot, pram reset and cmd s did nothing.
Any ideas whats wrong and how to solve?
    Thanks

    You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease?

  • My macbook pro 2010 extremely noisy and a warning flashed on the screen about a power or battery issue- can you help please?

My macbook pro 2010 has started getting extremely noisy in the last few months and I had a strange warning flash up on the screen a month or so ago about a power or battery issue… can you help please?

Calibrating a 2010 MBP is not required.  All it will achieve is putting an unnecessary cycle on it and shortening its life:

You may try a SMC reset:

Open System Information>Power and post the following from your MBP:
(Make certain that the charger is connected)
    Ciao.

my macbook pro 2010 is really laggy and slow any help

    Hi..
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac GuidesFreeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
Starting up in Safe Mode deletes system caches that can help also. Keep in mind a Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient. Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Restart.
And disabling the resume feature can help.
Open System Preferences > General. Deselect:  Reopen windows when quitting and re-opening apps

  • Macbook Pro 2010 keeps freezing and restarting

    Hi.
Last few days I have problems with my macbook pro 2010 model, running latest OS and all software. I have problems with freezing very often. Screen turns to black and after few seconds it restarts automaticly. It happens when I try to open iPhoto, surf the web (scrolling quickly). I have tried to restore OS to older state from Time Machine, but didn't help. It also shows this report:

Anyone knows what this happens or what coud be problem? I suspect my HDD, cos it always happens when the HDD is reading, or it could be RAM problem? But why now? I didn't change anything lately (only systen updates last week).

  • Macbook Pro (2010) vs Macbook Air (2011)

I have a Macbook Pro (2010 model, 15" screen, i7 2.66ghz, 500gb 7200rpm drive) which I currently use for work which includes some photoshop. I am a little tired of lugging it around as it is quite heavy especially when you include the power pack and wireless mouse. So I was considering getting the 2011 Macbook Air (13", i7 1.8ghz, 256gb SSD drive) as a replacement.
According to this web site (http://www.primatelabs.ca/geekbench/mac-benchmarks/) the Air (5786) scores marginally better than my Pro (5562).
Before (and if) I make my purchase I was hoping someone here knew more about a direct comparison of these notebooks and wouldn't mind sharing their knowledge.
    Thanks!

The 1.8GHz dual-core i7 Air is 32% slower than your 2.66GHz dual-core i7 Pro in all respects other than hard drive speed. In highly disk-intensive operations, the Air's SSD may make up the difference, but in pure processing operations, your Pro has a big edge. For graphics, the Air's integrated GPU with shared VRAM is considerably less powerful than your Pro's discrete GPU and dedicated VRAM. Nothing in the Air is upgradeable; your Pro can be outfitted with a larger hard drive or a faster SSD and twice as much RAM as the Air will ever have. All the non-resizable user-interface elements (menu bar and its text, dialog boxes and their text, tool palettes and toolbars in many apps, etc.) will be dramatically smaller and may be hard to read on the Air, unless your Pro has the optional high-resolution 1680 x 1050 display, in which case things will be the same size on the Air screen, but you'll see less of them because there are fewer pixels in its screen.
I think sticking with the Pro is a no-brainer. To lighten your load, leave the mouse at home and use the wonderful features of the MBP's trackpad. The Pro will never be as light as an Air, but it's a substantially more capable computer, and best of all, you've already paid for it.

  • Weird Display issue MacBook Pro 2010 15"

    Hey
i recently turned my MacBook pro on and after about ten minutes my display started to flicker some coloured lines until settling on this flickering:
I restarted,  tried to see if any updates where avaiable neither of which helped,
I took a screen shot and emailed it to my partners Laptop and the lines wern't there,  so i dont think it is a software problem.
i then shut down my laptop for the night and turned it on the next day and it was fine,  about 40 minutes on it and it started flashing again but didnt go as bad as the previous day,  It hasnt done it since but im slightly concerned as you can imagine.
Tech Tool Deluxe reports no problems at all.
I do have apple care but im out the country at the moment so not much i can do about it if things get worse,  i will be taking it to get checked over when i return home in a month!
Has anyone had similar issues,  or got any ideas as to what caused this?
    Specs:
    MacBook Pro 2010 I5 2.53Ghz 15"
    8gb Crucial Memory Ram
    Stock 500Gb 7200RPM Drive
Western Digital Scorpio Blue 640gb 5000RPM in Optibay
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB graphics and built in card

I will have to when i get home in a month,
it hasn't done it for a while now so hopefully i can last out the month with out any serious problems,  my main concern is the graphics going completly and me not being able to use my laptop at all!

  • Lion Login gives me Beach Ball lock up - Macbook Pro 2010

Ever since i updated my Macbook Pro 2010 15 i7 to lion, when i turn it on and it comes to the log in screen (i need it password protected for turning on), the beach ball just spins and it wont let me type my password in.
I ran disk permissions, i made sure my HD wasnt over loaded, ram has been in there since i got the mbp. I reset the pram once it let me in, then later on the mbp crahsed on me and it told me to restart it. I did and the beach ball came back on the log in. I powered down and reset the pram and still i got a beach ball at log in. Powered down again and it let me type my password half way then beach ball. Powered down again and then it let me type my whole password.
Have to say this is becoming a hassle, anyone have any ideas? or is it best to just go back to Snow Leapord?

I'm having the same problems on a 2011 iMac i7.
It won't let me type in my password - the spinning beachball is there instead.
It only happens to me when I leave my iMac locked for long periods of time.

  • Macbook pro 2010 (mid) not working

    Hey everyone,
My macbook pro 2010 mid does not turn on anymore because I spilled a drink all over the keyboard and I do not want to pay to repair it. In addition, it also had display problems as well like white and black screens. I tried using the "Power On" program for apple and it says that my laptop is not worth anything but I am able to recycle it for free... I was wondering if my macbook pro is still worth something since I have the battery and memory in it still

Looks like that the speaker may be blown.
Have you checked the Audio MIDI setup?
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

  • My laptop macbook pro 2010 froze while i was installing its latest update what should i do ?

My laptop macbook pro 2010 froze while i was installing its latest update what should i do ?

Shutdown then restart if possible. If you do restart OK, then try the update again after doing this:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • Macbook pro 2010 windows 7 slow stratup problem solution

Seems to most of people having this problem. Me too. I just find out the reason cause the slow startup. When you guys just finish install the windows 7, should not be any delay on loading screen., right? However, only after you install the SLIC of some kind of brand like sony, will casue the slow startup. In my situation, I installed Sony SLIC then the slow loading screen appeared, when I go back to windows, uninstalled the Sony SLIC, just 2 second flash the goes into loading page. Everything's fine now. So, not sure which SLIC will make you guys machine work better. In my Macbook pro 2010, I use ASUS SLIC, work prefect. Try it out.

Go find a latest Windows Loader like Windows_Loader_v2.0.5. I installed Alienware SLIC now work like rocket. If anyone still have problems or cant find the Loader, email me, I will send you one. [email protected]
