Screen saver includes wiered pictures?

About every 10th picture or so on my screen saver includes a wiered colorful graphic on top of the photo. Its never in the same spot and covers about 20% of the photo. Its random and oddly the graphics lool like flags or gems. When I view the same photo in iphot the graphic is not on the photo. Any ideas if this is some sort of virus?

Turns out the wierd pictures are actually iChat Icons from the folder /Library/Application Support/ Apple/iChat Icons. How the heck does that happen when I have identified iPhoto as my source for the screen saver?

  • Screen Saver Built in Pictures are Low Res

I just purchased this 30" Cinema Display. Really like it a lot. I wanted to use the Beach or Forest screen saver. All the pictures are low res. Is there a way to get HD picts to replace those for a great looking screen saver. The originals are very grainy. I didn't install the software in the box as I don't believe with the new systems you need to. I am hooking it up to a MacBook Pro.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Bennie

The size of the photographs used in the Beach, Forest, Cosmos, etc., slideSavers is 1024*768 and is obviously so on my 23" ACD, let alone a 30".
Interface Lift has some great hi-res wallpapers.
In the past, I've copied the Beach.slideSaver (/System/Library/Screen Savers) to the desktop, right clicked on the copy to "Show Package Contents", burrowed down to "Resources" to find the photos, trashed those jpegs and replaced them with my own. You can rename the slideSaver to *.slideSaver, copy it back to the folder from whence it came (authenticate) and/or to /Library/Screen Savers and you now have hi-res slideSavers of your choice.

  • Screen saver images over pictures

I have a couple of questions. When my Mac goes to the screen saver mode it uses random photo's from iPhoto. Occasionally some design, maybe a smiley face, a heart, or something, will be over top of the photo. Any idea's as to how to get rid of these?
My other question is about the same screen saver mode. I have photos coming up that I have deleted from my albums but they still appear on the screen saver.
    Thanks for any help,
    Jim

I am having the same problem. So far, the superimposed flags and faces are endless.
I sure do hope there is a solution. This is not a new problem to the imac. In a google search, someone was describing this same thing a couple of years ago. Any help is appreciated!

  • Why wont screen saver resize my picture in iso 7

Hi have a favourite picture i wish to use as a sreen saver but when i try to resize it it just springs back to original size and is too big for screen i cannot crop it as the two people on picture are sat about a foot apart why is this happening and how do i cure the problem

If you really like the picture, i suggest you put it on your computer, Instead of cropping it, open it with paint or something and give it a large boarder for cropping; i provided an example:
After this: You can insert it back into your phone and crop it to however you like. For some reason all the photos are FIT to SCREEN on io7. it even happends with my ipad, This is the only way i've countered the problem.

  • Edited pictures not showing in screen saver

I have a lot of pictures in my Picture Folder. I have my screen saver set for Picture Folder. And all the pictures do show up when the screen saver is running. But those pictures that were originally taken in landscape format but later converted and saved in portrait format still appear in landscape mode -- that is, on their side -- in the screen saver. How can that happen?
I have gone through every picture in the Picture Folder to make sure that each is properly oriented and saved in that orientation. Yet they still appear on their side in the screen saver (though they appear normally in Preview). What's going on here? And how do I fix it?

I have edited some photos (crop and/or colour
adustments). Although the thumbnail is still visible,
it will not load in full screen mode - I'll only see
a gree square with an explanation mark.
Even more annoying, a photo book I'd ordered came
with grey spaces: again the thumbnail appeared
allright, but if I click to view the page I get this
screen picture holder. I'll have to ask for a
reimbursement, but in the mean time, I'd like to know
    what to do.
    thanks in advance
I'm having some trouble posting. Sorry for my last post with only original message showing and my comments missing.
I am having trouble with full screen also but not quite the same. I cannot get a previosly edited photo to show full size on the full screen. It only transfers in the same small size as it is in the Library source screen even though I clk on the preference for "edit in full screen." Any idea what is wrong?

  • Apple TV 2.0 - Old screen saver no longer works-scrolling multiple pictures

Does anybody know if it is possible to activate the old screen saver. The old that creates a nice scrolling mosaic. Or is it gone forever, really like that one. Several people told it is still there but it doesn't work for me, after 2 minutes the traditional screen saver appears where there is one picture for the entire display.
I'm referring to the old one that has multiple pictures of varying sizes scrolling on the screen at differing speeds.
    Thanks.
    Lloyd

I must be missing something. If I go to settings/screen saver/photos I have one directory that is selected. When the screen saver starts it shows one picture at a time from that directory and then the next picture, but the screen saver with multiple pictures scrolling at the same time doesn't work for me, just the screen saver I described. Am I missing something?

  • IPhoto Album pictures differ in Screen Saver selection

When selecting an iPhoto Album as a Screen Saver, the Preview picture pane often displays pictures in other albums. Also, in certain albums, only one picture in that album displays continuously.
I hope this problem is fixable.
    Thanks for your help!

Hello Albert & Welcome to Discussions,
Very simple fix. Go to SystemPreferences>Desktop & ScreenSavers.
Once there click Screen Savers and uncheck, Use random screen saver.
Now click "Choose a folder" and select the folder you want to use for your screen saver. Now, click Options and make any changes you want.
Now, after all that is done go back to Desktop and make sure you choose the same folder you're using for screen saver and let it create the photos. Then,
click on any image and a pull down menu will appear that allows you to make changes to the way the pictures appear on the desk top...ie Full Screen, tile and so on.
    Hope this helps.

  • Screen saver no longer respects iPhoto albums in 10.4.8?

System Preferences -> Desktop & Screen Saver -> Screen Saver offers a list of iPhoto albums. It used to be that the screen saver would display pictures from the selected album only. But now all my iPhoto pictures are rotated through the screen saver, regardless of album selection. The only thing I've changed AFAIK is the 10.4.8 upgrade. Any way to get the old behavior back?
(I've found other posts about problems with iPhoto and screen saver, but nothing addressing this precise problem.)
    PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPhoto 2.0.1

I just tried it, having also just updated (in fact I did about 12 updates all at once, including QuickTime, iPhoto 6.05 as well as the system update) and it worked as expected, just cycling thru the photos in the selected album.
I have seen cases in earlier versions of iPhoto and the OS where the screensaver wouldn't work when using System Prefs, but would it you selected it in iPhoto. Don't remember how the earlier version of iPhoto worked (I think there was a button in the toolbar at the bottom of iPhoto), the way it works in iPhoto 6 is very weird: you select an album, then select the photos, then go to the Share menu and select Desktop. It plasters all the photos onto your Desktop and launches the System Prefs where you can set the options for the Screensaver. You'll notice that instead of an album being selected there is a new folder in the top section called "iPhoto Selection." I then switched my Desktop back to its usual neutral gray and screensaver remained as I had set it. Truly goofy, but it might be worth a try.

  • Low resolution photos in screen saver

    Hi,
I have a question regarding the screen saver in system preferences. Whenever I select one of my iPhoto albums, or a picture folder, to be displayed as the screen saver, the displayed pictures look jaggy and low in resolution. I've checked/unchecked every option in the pref pane, but none of them seem to help. The preset screen savers, like forest and cosmos, look great though. My photos are all 5MP (2592x1944pixels), so I can't imagine that their resolution is what is causing the problem.
    Cheers,
    Shinbone

Hi, Shinbone. Welcome to the Discussions.
As a guess, it may be from the need to scale down the images to fit your screen resolution, which I suspect is less than 2592x1944.
The images in Cosmos, for example, are 1024x768 pixels.
    Good luck!

  • My MacBook Air screen saver isn't working?

A few weeks ago I bought my first MacBook air (13 inch).
I was setting up my desktop and screen saver settings, and selected "Vintage Prints" for my screen saver, using some pictures from iPhoto as the images to be displayed. I selected the screen saver to start after 5 minutes. However, after 5 minutes of my laptop being left untouched, the screen just goes black. If I hit a few random keys, it will turn back on again, I type in my passcode and continue using my computer as normal, but I don't want a plain black screen, I want my Vintage Prints screen saver. If you know anything I've done wrong, a setting I forgot to click or why my laptop has this problem, please let me know!

The Display sleep time is found in Energy Saver. That's the period of inactivity after which the screen goes black.

  • Screen Saver (using iphoto folder) - 2 questions

New imac....thanks for the input. Two questions with the screen saver that uses random iphoto folder pics.
    1. The resolution on some pics looks horrible (I thinked they must be zoomed in), but even on ones that are not, the pics look more grainy then when I see them in iphoto at roughly same size. Any suggestions?
    2. Wife liked the ability to scroll through the screen saver pics in Windows XP but hitting right arrow button. THis would not disengage screen saver and should could see all the pics. Anyway to do this on Mac...she would LOVE to know!
    Thanks!

HI Dan and Welcome to Apple Discussions and congrats on the new iMac!
For starters... here is information for slideshows/screen savers available to use with a .mac account:
Using a .Mac slideshow as a screen saver
You can use a .Mac member's public slideshow as your screen saver.
To set up a .Mac screen saver, you need the .Mac member name of the person publishing the pictures. You do not need to be a .Mac member to see a slideshow or use it as a screen saver.
Open a web browser and visit a website to make sure you're connected to the Internet.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Desktop & Screen Saver.
Click Screen Saver, then select .Mac in the Screen Savers list.
Click Options, and enter the .Mac member name in the .Mac Membership Name field.
The slideshow is downloaded to your computer. When it's finished, you can disconnect from the Internet.
To publish your own slideshow, you need a .Mac membership. To learn more, visit www.mac.com
And rule of thumb using your own photos as a screen saver: If the pictures look fuzzy, try using larger pictures (such as 1024 x 768 pixels).

  • Rotating text messages on Screen Saver for disabled person?

I have an iMac set up in my mum's living room, she has dementia and I use the computer to speak to her using Facetime and Skype.
I would like to be able to place rotating messages on the screensaver (in large font) to remind her of things e.g. when her shopping is due, with my phone number. I assume this is not possible with OS X, but is there an application that will allow me to do this i.e. rotating messages on screen saver with control of font size?
    Thanks in advance

There's no completely simple way to do this but there's one way I can think of that doesn't require advanced geeking:
    1. Set up a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive so it runs on her computer and on your computer.
    2. On her computer, set the screen saver to use PICTURES from a specific folder only, with whatever effect you like. Choose a folder that's inside the Dropbox or whatever that you set up.
    3. Now you can create pictures yourself and put them inside that folder and know that they'll display on your Mum's screen saver. You can choose whatever font and colours and whatever that you want to use for each message.
43 Just make sure that you delete messages once you don't need them anymore, and that that folder only ever has one picture in it - less confusing. You'll probably want a default picture to put in there when there are no other messages, I'm not sure what would happen if the screen saver points to an empty folder.
This isn't the only way to solve the problem but it's probably the simplest.

  • Screen Save Waveform Chart

I have a Labview DAQ VI with some controls and a couple of waveform charts.
I would like to print just the waveform charts but not the whole panel at
times using a screen dump or print screen to include as pictures in a MS
Word report. Can this be done?

Actually, the whole process is rather simple. Attached is a snippet of code taken from LV's report generation tools. Using a reference to a front panel control, it extracts the appropriate data and writes a BMP file.
The vi is inside a quick demo that show how it can build a BMP of a graph. Run the demo and then check your temp directory. There should be a new file there that with a name like CT********.bmp.
