Screen Saver Lock-out

Our WMS 2011 Premium server boots and then after the association of the mouse and keyboard the screen saver starts and then simply moves when the mouse moves or the keyboard is touched.
There is no way to get around the screen saver and the system is not accessible from any other station.
We can start the system in safe mode and log in, but not apply changes or update the system.

I had this happen to me and I ended up solving it by disassociating my LAN client, installing all of my USB stations, and then associating my LAN client again. Evidently, when the LAN client was connecting, my system would lock up. By adding all of my USB
stations first and then the LAN stations last, it solved the issue for me.
Also, I experience screensaver lockup when my Windows was set to put my monitors into sleep mode after a minute. I turned that off in the USB Power settings and the lockup went away. With this issue, I could turn off the client and turn it back on to jump
start the system.
Also, have you looked at this link to see if the SRCShell user account has been deleted? With WMS2010, at least, Microsoft says you'll have log-in issues if that account is deleted.

  • Cannot log in back after screen saver locked the computer

    Hi there,
We have a domain environment with Windows 2012 R2 and a Windows 2003 domain controllers and Windows XP and Windows 7 clients. We have setup a GPO for screen saver which lock the computer after 15 minutes idle. In the last few weeks on some Windows 7 computers
after the screen saver locked the computer the users cannot log in back. Error message come up with Username or password is incorrect.
I've tried to reach the computer through RDP but same error came up even tried to log in as domain admin. I could log in as domain admin locally (switch user option) but as a user cannot. I've tried to restart Netlogon, Workstation and Server services but
nothing happened. In the event viewer no related error message. The only way to login back as a user to restart the computer. It is not really good solution as they opened lots of things which wasn't saved.
Anyone has any idea or experience to solve this issue?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Since you could login with Domain Admin locally, it should didn't have problem with Netlogon service and other logon correspond service. It seems like the account itself problem.
When this problem occures, have you tried to use other computer logon with the problematic account for test? If other normal computer also had same problem when using the account. It's should your Server authenticate problem. If not, it maybe the domain
account profile problem, you can try to remove the account and readded it for test.
If there was any updates, please feel free let us know.

  • Screen saver locks up computer

When my wifes 1-year old iMac goes into screen saver, it has a tendancy to lock up, requiring a hard power-down and restart. This has only started recently. It has the latest Lion updates installed. I've seen a few similar comments but no one seems to have posted a solution. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can prevent this from happening?

I can't really say until more info is learned about the issue.  If it's a screen saver that's got a corrupted plist then it may be a simple as getting rid of the plist.  If it's a screen saver that's just incompatible with lion then get another screen saver.
My philosophy on screen savers is that if a screen saver has a problem it is just not worth trying to find out why with some many other screen savers to choose from.

  • Screen Saver Locking up DVD Player

While watching a DVD in full screen, the movie stopped playing and the application locked up. A force quit was able to get out of it, but it happened once again. After setting my screen saver to never go off the problem stopped.

OK. Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that list into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

  • Screen saver locks up, won't allow changes

After bringing everything over from the previous iMac, went to set up the desktop and screen saver system preferences.  Desktop worked like always, but when you go to make a selection for which screen saver you want, goes into the endless spinning ball and the only way to get out of it is a force quit.
Apple help guy said to dump the com.apple. file, that worked once and then back to locking up.  Reinstalled Leopard from the Mac disk, but with the same result.  Did show up on the first boot-up but then back to normal next log in.
Any ideas?  (went to search the tip section but couldn't figure out how to get a question in)

I'm not sure I understand the current behavior: you say it still locked up, yet that the canned screen savers now work. Can you explain?
One thing others have suggested for a similar issue is to make sure the iLife Support 9.0.3;/a> update is installed, but I'm not sure that applies to you.
Also, make sure any custom screen savers you have are not PPC-only ones.
Well, those were the three magic words—downloaded the update, rebooted, and the screen savor pref worked perfectly, just like it should!! Don’t know why this upgrade never showed up in the software update from Apple, it certainly should have.
Here’s what it was doing in more detail: The desktop side of the pref worked with no problem, but when you went into the screen saver side you could do one thing--say pick one of the canned saver and close the window. But if you went to scroll down to get to the ‘choose folder’ option and opened that up, the beechball came on forever, and the only way to close the window was a force quit, which meant you lost any changes you wanted.
Thanks for your quick replies, do appreciate it. Been a long time Mac user (1985 to be exact—what a change from the original to the new!), and one of the things I’ve always liked about the experience is the discussion forums. Hope anyone else having this problem can find the answer here by searching

  • Touchsmart Envy 23 screen saver locks with photos

Screen freezes when trying to exit photo screen saver.  Screen saver works fine with pictures rotating, but locks up when I try to get out of it.  Changed back to bubbles and other generic windows screen savers and it works fine.  Only when in photo mode does it do this...?????

I understand the PC freezes when exiting the photo screensaver.
Try this Microsoft FixIt and let me know what happens.
    http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9726338&entrypointid=MATSKB
It does seem to be related to something that is in the photos library/folder since other screensavers work fine.
What is the product number of the PC?  This can be found in the same area of the serial number.
NOTE: Do NOT provide the serial number.

  • How to screen saver lock

On PC's you can lock your screen when you walk away and must enter your login password to unlock.  Is there a keyboard sequence where you can lock your Mac the same way?
    Thanks... Gary

This process works well, and is easier than a key stroke:
Under the "Security and Privacy" tab in System Preferences, click the box next to 'Require password [immediately] after sleep or screen saver begins." Then, under the "Mission Control" tab, click "Hot Corners" in the bottom-left corner. Choose a corner (I have mine set for bottom-right) and click the tabbed menu. Choose either 'put display to sleep' or 'start screen saver.' When you are about to leave your desk, just drag your mouse to the bottom-right corner until the screen sleeps or your screen saver kicks in. Simple as that!

  • Track or log screen saver locks/unlocks

    Hello,
I'm looking for a way to track when folks unlock their screen savers. Is there a program or log file that can assist me here? I need to be able to do this so I can track when users are logging into their machines when they arrive to work. Most users don't logout of their machine, so the screen saver is my best option I think. I manage about 18 mac minis running 10.6.
Suggestions are welcome for tracking times other than this route as well.
    Thanks in advance,

  • CC save locks out CS6. It's pay forever from now on.

It's official, the handcuffs went into effect with CC's release. Files saved in CC will not open in CS6. The scheme works and forces existing users trying to stay current with their tools into Adobe's pay forever scheme. Yes there is IDML workaround but that is hardly a solution or group friendly, let along long term viable. I am stunned that CC actually shipped with this scheme still in place.
So today it begins. We have no choice but to give Adobe managers 100% control to stop access to our work, our long loved tools, and let Adobe hold anyone hostage at any moment for more money with a simple change to the ULA, or glitch.  It's pay whatever the current keymasters decide, whenever they demand it, or lose everything.  I am sick to my stomach.
Adobe, how could you do this to us, after 10+ years of devotion to building you up?  Don't give me that story that it's too hard to support both CC as standalone and as Cloud, that is just a plain lie. Why not dump about 75% of the worthless apps added for "value" and use those resources. CS6 lags behind but sold forever is stupidity too, while we watch CC engineering efforts grow. This is disgusting. Excuse me, I need to go throw up.

While I don't like the new CC model, which version of ID ever allowed opening its files in a previous version natively?
No one is forcing me to sign-up to CC. Not one previous customer has indicated they are moving forward with CC. Heck, most of my ID customers are using 5.5, maybe a third are using CS6. Should I get a new customer requiring CC, I'll pay for the use of it and drop it when the deliverables have been handed over. I don't like that this is how I will need to handle it, but I'll cross those roads as I come to them.
Adobe is under no obligation to make my life easy in the use/licensing of their software. Just like I get to make decisions that better my businesses in my POV, they do too. We both get to deal with the fall-out for those decisions.
    Take care, Mike

  • Ipod Touch - White Screen Lock Out - Apple response poor/process inflexible

    Hi
I have 2 Touchs and one has the random white screen issue. Screens goes grey`white and there's nothing you can do, till what seems like it needs to be recharged. i haven't had this happen when at home and near the 'master dock' .
I see thats its a prob that is more and more common, and have also seen on other forums that Apple are acknowledging it and in some cases have been providing freebies as sweeteners as well (allegedly).
So first - does anyone have any 'fixes' - other than what I have seen which is a replacement?
And secondly this is my 'Apple Service experience so far'
I called Apple UK support on Thursday morning, and pressed the options for Ipod and then Touch.
A woman answered and as soon as I told her my issue she advised she was IPHONE SUPPORT ONLY as that was section I had come through to and could not help me. I asked to be put through to relevant help section.
On hold for a few mins then line went dead.
Called back - making sure i pressed Ipod Touch options - in case it was user error first time - (it wasn't BTW) anyway got put through to IPHONE support again. This time the woman agreed to help, although i shall temper that by saying that my perception was that she started that day and had a script of 'if x do y' questions.
I explained the issue and that I had carried out web research. She was very polite but asked me questions I had already answered in my pre amble - i.e. screen is locked out, no response from buttons etc - but I was still asked what happens when you press the power button. Anyway I stuck with it - she then asked what firmware I had, and i advised I just upgraded to 1.2.
Ah thats the problem - you need to upgrade to LEOPARD (I have Tiger). That annoyed me as clearly thats rubbish and was really her ' ad libbing' I explained I had 2 touchs and other was fine.
She consulted a colleague and suggested I either send it in or make an appt at my local Apple store. Thats when it really went down hill...
More disappointed at the process, I called my local store (Regent Street - London) and was advised that the Touch would be replaced under warranty - but that I needed to make an appt to have that done, and no they couldn't make an appt on line (you are warned that up front in the recorded message before you get to speak to anyone). This I find odd - two people from Apple advise I can get a replacement under warranty, yet I have to make an appt - thats not good service.
As i am nearby, I decide to go to the Apple store anyway. I get same story and ask to speak to the manager. He is very well trained. He says all the diplomatic things, he agrees unit will be replaced under warranty, but says I have to see a technician - but I cant until tomorrow at earliest.
What then follows is a discussion about the process - his argument is that it allows the customer to attend at a time that suits them (but it suited me NOW - I was nearby). In reality the converse is true you can only chose a slot that suits apple.
The manager, stated that there are two diff stocks of goods. Items for sales and items for replacement. I suggested that he went to the replacement pile and provided one from that. NBo go - the technical dept could only do that.
I agree that booking for TECH SUPPORT is a great idea, but for a product replacement under warranty - especially when 3 people (and user forums) had advised this would be the case - this is not good service at all. The manager looked at me and uttered platitudes along the lines of ' thats your opinion', ' you are entitled to think that' - all of them verging on patronising. he even went as far to say that customers like being able to book a slot - erm - they have no choice!
He advised he 'would take my views on board' and would 'pass them on to the manager' - he was in fact the deputy manager. I left my details and explicitly asked for her comments - needless to say I am still waiting.
So i feel like I have fallen out with a close friend. I have been an Apple convert for 2 years now and this is our first major falling out. I am annoyed, as a customer, at being treated like this and forced into such a rigid system, and bitterly disappointed that a company that has such a a wonderful end user experience in terms of the products themselves and the sales side should treat loyal customers (in fact any customers) this way when trying to dal with faulty goods!
So, anyone have any thoughts - agree/disagree - who can I voice this to in Apple - the store doesn't seem to care past lip service!
I will also try to repost this on the general area if there is one
    Rgds
    Michael

    Hi,
I used to work at an Apple Store so I have 2 summers of customer service experience under my belt. Let me just say that, yes, I empathize. Some of the store policies are ridiculous, which is partly why I left the company. Well, ok no, I just like to say that that's why I left. I'm actually a student.
Anyways, whoever told you that you can't make an appointment at the Genius Bar was WRONG. Shame on them. Go to this website (it's just apple.com/uk/retail (and Regent Street's site specifically) and on the right hand side there's a column for you to click Genius Bar Reserve.
    http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/regentstreet/week/20071118.html
Here's the entire gist of the store policy. The store is obligated to give you a new iPod Touch if there's a manufacturer defect within 2 weeks of your original purchase. You'll still need a Genius Bar appointment, but all they do is take a look at it, confirm that it's a defect, and they'll return it for you (& they'll label it as DOA - Dead on arrival), and give you a new one. Easy.
I'm guessing you are outside of the 14 day period which is causing you all the trouble. So now we're talking about the year warranty. So you got your replacement iPod touch. Should there still be a defect in your replacement, you still have 14 days from the day you received THAT iPod touch to get a new one. There's a chance that if you talk to the manager (a different one and there are several), he'll hook you up with a brand new iPod touch, without having to go through replacement protocol.
The manager you talked with sounds like a jerk to me, and believe me, I hate it when Apple employees try to think theyre "all that." We student employees used to laugh at how seriously some employees took it. But really, those guys are there to help you and give you solutions, at least that's the company line. With that in mind, demand them to do what's right. I wish I could actually help you. I used to take care of people in situations like these all the time.
    Good luck.

  • Podcast screen saver

I have a screen saver (locking screen) of Harry Potter that displays while I listen to a podcast.  I cannot figure out how can I change it.  It is not wallpaper and seems to have been set automatically when I loaded the copy of the movie (HP7 digital copy).  Normally what displays is an image from the podcast and I find this very annoying that it changes the system on me.

    Hi...
Thanks, I thought there was going to be something like the visualizer (I knew windows has something) that’s why I asked....
I know I can do a few things at once - but - who get’s the audio? I know I could bring something up on YouTube or something from the internet; but I’m thinking there’s going to be an audio issue. I haven’t really tried - but I just know there's going to be an issue.
Is there a way of “designating” audio while several visuals are playing?
In any event - the visualizer is just great - thanks.
