Screen Saver Pixelation Problem

Greetings All;
Here is a weird situation: After several minutes of inactivity, my Mac will go into the Screen Saver mode and display pictures from my Pictures folder. About third to half of the pictures displayed will be pixelated - not clear. The pixelated pictures are random.
How can I fix this problem?
Thank you.

Hi ya Bruce;
You the Man! It worked! Kinda strange that the Pictures folder has the problem but not Photos.
Thank you. Thank you.

  • Photo screen saver pixellated after Leopard installation???

    Did an archive and install of Leopard (past experience tells me to NEVER do an upgrade to a new OS), and everything seems great, except for my screen saver. I am set up for a slideshow screen saver, and now, half the images in the screen saver come out pixellated in the screen saver. The original images in iPhoto are perfectly fine, just when they're viewed through screen saver.

    Hi Brad.
    I tried installing Onyx (version 1.8.3) and got a message saying it wouldn't run with my version of the OS. I am running 10.5.1 (Leopard). Which version of Onyx did you use?
    I've had the same problem of some photos being pixellated while others are sharp. I figured I needed to see if I could set the screen saver to reject files under 100K or so.
    Thanks!

  • Problems with screen saver image quality

    Just got a MPB 15 inch. Very happy with it but have a small problem with the screen saver. I use my i Photo folders as the source for screen saver images. Some photos are shown in very good quality but others are very poor - as if low res. The original images are all of the same high quality. Seems to occur whichever video setting is used under power saving. A minor issue I now but any ideas?

    Hi, Mark. Apparently some of the photos being used are low-resolution thumbnails, not full-resolution images.
    What version of iPhoto do you have, and which OS version are you running? On my MBP running 10.5.6 and iPhoto 7.1.5, "All folders" is not an option in the Screensaver pane of System Prefs, so I don't know what you're actually choosing. But if I select "Pictures" (which refers to the Pictures folder in my Home folder), then the screensaver uses every .jpg file that it finds in any of the several iPhoto Libraries inside my Pictures folder. The thumbnails created by iPhoto are .jpgs, so they get used by the screensaver along with full-size high-resolution images.
    The solution is not to select a folder that contains any thumbnails.

  • ITunes album art screen saver problem

    Hi, recently when I use my iTunes album art work as a screen saver the albums have a purple tint to them. It hasn't always been like that so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Just thought I'd let you know that you're not alone. I've tried everything i could think of to fix this problem. The only thing that worked was re-installing the os
    and not messing with the settings. But that's not really an option. I only found that out because i got a little delete happy while screwing with my mac.

  • Album artwork/screen saver problem

    I having a similar problem too like most on here, but it has a slight twist to it. This is just recent happened to me and I am not sure if any other people on here has experienced it. I was adding some music and my iTunes loaded the music into my library. Then all over sudden it decided to just crash, I didn't think nothing of it. Tried to reopen it crashed, crashed, and crashed. I started panicing so i restarted the computer, but that is when i released what happened.
    I didn't notice this small problem until my album artwork slide show screen saver started.Somehow or way my iTunes has lost all over its Album artwork in it's folders, BUT.... it's still there on the albums and so forth. So what is the deal? I scanned for viruses i came up with none and I verified the DISK and reparied it everything was okie. But right as I was scanning for viruses the 1st time the whole OSX crashed. Which was the reason see if the HFS Volume 1 had problems but it did not. So has anyone experienced this problem yet? Or is it telling me I should move on and get me a new Mac soon?

    If you post the problem in a new discussion with a new title, someone will be able to help you out. I doubt you need a new computer, try everything and with some luck you will be OK. There are others who will be able to get you quickly fixed right, I am not the best at the problems you are having.
    Cheers, SZ

  • 6280 screen saver problem

    i have a 6280 since the past monday and today i realised that the screen saver isn`t working, although it`s enabled in the Display menu. i tried to restore the phone to the factory settings and the problem persists. you know, at all nokia phones, after a while, the screen turns black and it displays the clock and maybe the date. mine doesn`t do this either.
    can please someone help me!?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    you won't believe it . it was the network . when there is no network the screen saver doesn't work. try yourselfes to see if it's true .
    SOLVED!

  • Screen Saver Problem/bug?

    I'm really enjoying leopard. I've only found two minor problems/issues. One is Ichat backgrounds, but I why its not doing what it should and why. The problem I'm trying to Figure out is the screen saver. Specifically the Itunes screen saver. They will load/display up individually fine (loading into the screen saver and in Itunes), but when the screen save tiles them they all appear with a red hue. (Tiger worked fine). Has anyone else had this problem? can it be fixed adjusted (easily)

    I've got the same problem on my iMac 20" (Intel 2.0 GHz Core Duo), BUT, the problem occurs on my +*second monitor*+ (over DVI) all the time, but only on some pictures on my main (built in) monitor.
    I've tried to create a new Color Profile for the second monitor, but this did not solve the problem.
    The problem is also only visible when the screensaver is fully loaded (during the 'loading' of pictures, the color is okay).
    I've created a screenshots to my main and external monitor here:

    Main monitor (all okay, except for 1 image):

  • Screen saver problem. Yosemite

    Help please. I keep having to go back into Screen Saver to reselect the iphoto album I want it to run. It works for a few cycles, or sometimes only once, then switches back to National Geographic slides. Grr.

    Back up all data. Quit System Preferences if it's running.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A folder should open. If it does, look for a file with a long name that begins "com.apple.screensaver". There may be several such files. Move them all to the Trash.
    Log out or restart the computer. Test. If the problem is resolved, empty the Trash and recreate your settings in the Screen Saver tab.

  • Pixel problem? Lines on the screen

    hello my iMac is 3 1/2 years old. about 6 months ago I started to get lines on the screen, last week one of the lines turned into an 1 1/2 inch white line. From what I'm reading it's a pixel problem. My question is should I have this problem repaired, or is it not worth doing. thank you.

    Are the newer versions less apt to have this problem. and is there a history of this problem with iMacs thanks.
    Tough questions, the problem is that iMacs are sort of All-In-Ones, using basically Laptop components with a Desktop Monitor & Hard Drive, if one thing goes you can't just replace say the Video Card like on a PowerMac or MacPro, because most everything is built into the Logic Board.
    I strongly suggest that anyone getting an iMac or Laptop go for the extended AppleCare.
    As for the new iMacs, they look really sweet, but I myself would not buy one with an nVidia Graphic Card, I'd have to order the more expensive ATI Graphic Card.

  • Annoying Screen Saver Problem

    I have set up a separate file that contains photographs to be used as my screen saver. Most of the photos display properly, but I have a few that get cropped in such a manner that you cannot see a person's head etc etc. I did drag those pics into "Preview" and used the "tools" to resize those pics . . but nothing I do corrects the problem.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    T.Y.

    I thought about tweaking the resolution but my fear is that this might cause a problem with the pics that currently render themselves as they should! I have around 200 pics in this file to be used by the screen saver . . .less than 10 are giving me a problem . . so do you see my concern?
    Thanks . . . .

  • Security problem: Waking from screen saver botched in 10.5.5

    When using my MBP, I like to have my screen saver as simple computer lock in that it requires a password to wake the computer from sleep or screen saver (option in the Security system preference pane).
    Since the update to 10.5.5, my computer just wakes from sleep or when in screen saver mode, without demanding a password to be entered, even though the option is checked in the pane. I did an immediate SMC reset after the installation because the fans were acting oddly, and a PRAM zap just now to see if it'd do any good with this problem.
    Has anyone experienced something similar?

    I had this happen a few times back when I was running Tiger. I was able to fix it by going to Homefolder/Library/Preferences/ByHost and deleting all of the com.apple.screensaver.xxxxxxx plist files, and then logging out/in.

  • Problem in MIT-SCREEN-SAVER

    I'm using beforelight (v1.3) from XFree86. This program uses MIT-SCREEN-SAVER for screensaver event. It works fine under 5.6, and 5.8 if built with 32-bit. But after I rebuilt it with 64-bit (add -xarch=v9a in Makefile) and ran the binary, I got a core dump in the function XScreenSaverSelectInput(). Workshop reports invalid address alignment in XScreenSaverSelectInput at 0xffffffff7e510108. What could be the problem?

    Tested with a simple program, main() does nothing but initializing MIT-SCREEN-SAVER and starting a eventloop listening for screensaverevent. The initialization code is:
    int main(argc, argv)
    int argc;
    char **argv;
    Widget toplevel;
    XEvent event;
    XScreenSaverNotifyEvent *sevent;
    XID               kill_id;
    Atom          kill_type;
    toplevel = XtAppInitialize (&app_con, "Beforelight", NULL, ZERO,
                        &argc, argv, NULL, NULL, ZERO);
    display = XtDisplay (toplevel);
    root = DefaultRootWindow (display);
    screen = DefaultScreen (display);
    if (!XScreenSaverQueryExtension (display, &ss_event, &ss_error))
              exit (1);
    if (XScreenSaverGetRegistered (display, screen, &kill_id, &kill_type))
              XErrorHandler old_handler = XSetErrorHandler (ignoreError);
              XKillClient (display, kill_id);
              XSync (display, 0);
              XSetErrorHandler (old_handler);
    XScreenSaverSelectInput (display, root, ScreenSaverNotifyMask);
    XSync (display, False);
    XSetScreenSaver(display, MyTimeout, 0, 0, 0);
    eventloop();
    This works fine when linked with 32-bit, but crashed (sometimes report BadDrawable) in XScreenSaverSelectInput(). I'm wondering if the 64-bit MIT-SCREEN-SAVER doesn't work properly.

  • Problems with Mavericks screen saver

    I downloaded Mavericks on Saturday.  On Sunday after the download was completed my screensaver from my IPhoto library was replaced by a blue "wave" shot which is one of the default screens on the new OS.  I tried to reload my photo as a screensaver with no success.  I spent 3 hours with Apple Support and three different support representatives.  All unsuccessful.  It would appear that the Mavericks OS will only allow you to use one of the Apple default screens as the screen saver.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  In my old OS one simply clicked on system preferences, then screensavers and you chose a photo from the list of Apple landscapes, etc or a photo from the IPhoto library.  That option seems not to exist any longer. Welcome comments by new Mavericks users.

    Yes,  I have the same issue.

  • How does screen saver smooth pixelated photos?

    When selecting an album of photos in Screen Saver preferences, I noticed that a small sized photo within the album appeared quite smooth when displayed via the Screen Saver, but the same photo viewed via Preview at the same magnification appeared highly pixelated.  I would like to know how this is done to make other photos look smooth at high magnification, outside of Screen Saver.
