Screen Scrolling is terrible on my MBA

Hi folks,
Hope someone can help.
I have a mid 2012 MBA i7 with 8GB RAM. I have had it for around 18 months and just in the last few days the screen has been showing lots of tearing in both horizontal and vertical movements. Its so bad that when scrolling slowly in Safari I cant read it at all.
I did the extended online AHT last night thinking maybe I had a video graphics card fault but everything came back passed. I have reset the PRAM. Should the VRAM show something other than Null?

Thank you for your quick reply.
I want you to try a factory reset on the monitor if you haven’t attempted one already.
1.       Press the Menu down in the bottom right corner of the monitor.
2.       Once the on screen display appears toggle down to factory reset.
3.       Select on that option
You might see your monitor go dark a couple times but that is normal. Test it out after the reset.

Just updated my iPad 2 to ios7 and now my screen resolution is terrible...

I tried rebooting several times, but it didn't help. Everything else seems to be working fine. Any suggestions?

Just tried this...did not work. Resolution is still horrible. This is not an issue of it just not looking smooth or sharp. It's so much worse than that. It was actually fine right after the update. The next morning when I turned it on it was messed up.

Question when I log into Firefox, the screen scrolls down and I have to use the side-bar to go back up to type my query into the 'search' window. How can I stop that and get Firefox to start with the 'search' window accessible? With thanks, Peter

My screen view is terrible - text is much less legible than in IE

I just changed from Internet Explorer to Firefox, and my screen view is terrible. The text is thin, and not very legible. Is there a setting that needs to be changed? This is in gmail, the screen I am viewing now in Firefox, and comcast. Does not seem to be a problem with Word documents ( not internet)

You can enable ClearType system wide for all programs to make other programs like Firefox use it.

Screen scrolls by its self and ipad operates by its self

I've had my ipad for 4 weeks and on several occasions the screen on the ipad operates by its self, opens and closes programs and sites without me touching the screen, the screen scrolls by its self even when i try to stop it by touching the screen. Any ideas what is causing this?

Try a reset by holding the home and power buttons for ten seconds, until the Apple appears, then let it restart.
If it's still doing it, try a restore from iTunes on your computer.

Screen scrolls up and down / left to right

My wife has the old white glossy 13" macbook. About 4 years old, but with her service contract, has the latest software and all that jazz.
Our one year old got to hitting a bunch of keys on her keyboard and disrupted some settings, that we can't figure out how to get back to normal.
Now, when my wife uses the trackpad, the whole screen will move with her finger movements...up and down, and left and right...
How do we stop this?
Also, everything on the screen is almost doubled in size as well? What is the normal screen settings for a 13" macbook?
I hope that is clear. Not sure how else to really explain what has happened.

You have accidentally triggered the Zoom feature.
If you hold down ctrl and scroll on the trackpad upwards with two fingers, the screen will zoom larger and you'll get the effects you describe.
To zoom back, hold down ctrl and scroll on the trackpad DOWNWARDS with two fingers until everything on the screen becomes normal again.
This is actually a useful feature, but you're not the first to get caught out this way

Screen Scrolls in games with arrow keys

My kids play a lot of games online. I can't lock the screen or whatever you want to call it. If the game requires the arrow keys to move the character, it scrolls the screen until they can't see the game. I have tried to click on the flash player game window but it still scrolls to the bottom of the page when you pich the arrow keys. Any help? Thanks!

What is "it"? Did you create the game in Flash, or is this an online game?

Issue Screen Scrolling Very Jumpy - How can it be improved?

I have setup 3 MS Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Servers, connecting to Wyse C10LE terminals. When scrolling in documents the display screen does not do so clearly. I've tried reducing the encryption level and security settings but still
no improvement. These are RDP Configured connections. Running out of ideas and wyse is not much help. Network connections are 1GB. These are VM's.

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As per your description for your issue, I would like you to check the driver for your Wyse terminals. Please update to the latest driver and verify the result. Also when you are facing this issue, only during access of particular document or for any of the
program access on wyse.
In addition try to disable the TCP auto-tuning and verify the result. You can perform this with below commands.
Disabling the TCP auto-tuning
1. Open up a 'cmd' as administator.
2. Type in: netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
3. To check if it worked: netsh interface tcp show global
To re-enable it: netsh interface tcp set global autotuningl=normal

IiPad reply screen disappears behind keyboard. This happens on a long message in email and I need to type "blind" if the message is even medium long. How do I get the typed area to scroll up as it did before the latest IOS update?

I,m having and identical problem. In fact when I went to type this my split keyboard is dead center on the page.
When I hold down the button on the bottom right corner when I'm in split mode I get the option to Dock and Merge or just to Merge. There is no option where the keyboard stays split once it's been docked and merged.
Help! I have small hands and it's so much easier to type in split screen.

GNU Screen Scroll problem

Hello everyone, I'm a new member in the Arch community and I'm enjoying myself a lot by using this distribution.
the problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get the mouse scrollwheel to scroll upwards in GNU Screen running in a Terminator emulator once the terminal is filled.
I have searched a bit and found that I should put something like this in my ~/.screenrc

I have changed the xterm* to terminator* to match my emulator, my full .screenrc is as follows

When I first open screen I can scroll up and down using the mouse wheel, but once the terminal gets filled all the way, the mouse wheel starts to show the command history instead of scrolling, which is a pretty odd behavior in my point of view.
Anyone knows why is that happening?

I can't help with the problem directly, but those who can will probably be more inclined to do so if you include file contents of command output in [ code ] ... [ /code ] tags to keep it clean and readable.

Screen scrolls by itself

I have a new 27" IMac with all updates installed. I use Track pad and wireless keyboard and wireless number pad. No Blurtooth in the house . Bluetooth boards replaced. Nearest neighbor is several thousand feet away and not home during the day. When using Sarafi the screen will rapidly scroll to the bottom and stay there. It might be anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes until I am able to scroll back to the top of the page. During this time I can't get any of the bookmark folders to stay open although if I do not take my finger off the track pad I can hold it open. Some times I have to reboot Safari to reset the page. This happens on an intermittant basis and it may be days between occurences,
Is this a know bug in either bluetoopth, Safari, or the OS?
Genius Bar at the store says its interference but I can't find any.

A few months ago, I bought a new desktop iMac. (After using a Mac for 22 years, I'm pretty disappointed for several reasons.) I have experienced the runaway scrolling issue. For example, on FB, the page will scroll downward throughout all the old posts on my news feed. Another quirk is that while scrolling, the window I'm in can start zooming in and out, then it stops on its own. When this happens, scrolling up or down controls whether it zooms in or out. It will stay zoomed in or out even after rebooting.
I've read several complaints about this issue, and I want to add my stats to yours and help eliminate as many things as possible. People are questioning their mouse or software, and desktop models vs. laptops. This seems to be a equal opportunity bug, though. When I bought this Mac, I chose the old-fashioned corded mouse and the big corded keyboard, so don't blame your fancy mouse or wireless. That's all I have.
