Screen Sharing Connection failed when using dock shortcut

I have 10.10.2 installed on this computer - just updated - and 10.10.1 installed on a couple others (in the process of upgrading) as well as older versions installed on some older computers.
I have Screen Sharing in the Dock and when I right click on it I get a list of recently connected computers. Until recently this generally worked for making the connection to that remote computer. Sometimes there were minor issues such as systems showing up which are no longer on my network - or showing up with an obsolete name. The big issue is that lately systems are showing up with a .vncloc extension and even when they don't it is hit or miss as to wether or not using the shortcut will make the connection.
I get an error message that says: Connection failed to "ComputerName".
Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
In every case - after I see that message if I open a Finder folder - and navigate to the other system and click on Screen Sharing in the Finder window it will connect - and I can do this repeatedly. Every so often the shortcut will work but mostly it does not.
I have looked for ways to clear that recent items list without success.
I have cleared the keychain access to the remote computers and reset without success.
I don't recall seeing this behavior prior to the first 10.10.x system being on my network.
I have not (yet) tried - turning off screen sharing on ALL systems throughout the network then turing them all back on.
Not sure if this is a I am using a single iTunes/iCloud account for many of the systems - but also have one permanent and several guest machines that have their own iCloud account.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you are having intermittant trouble with screen sharing. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, there are several things you can check that may be able to help the issue.

Screen Sharing: Authentication Failed

Since updating to OS 10.7 on my Mac Mini, I have been unable to log in via Screen Sharing (using my 10.7-installed Macbook). I continually receive the error "Authenticaion failed to 'MacMini'. Please verify you have entered the correct name and password." The name and password are correct, and I can log into the computer as an administrator via the Finder to access its files without issue. Only the Screen Sharing application fails to authenticate. I had no troubles literally an hour ago using Snow Leopard.
Thoughts?

After restarting both computers a few times, I can now no longer connect via normal File Sharing -- it will connect as a guest just fine, but when I try to connect as a user, it stalls out. It sounds like the problem in this thread:

Screen sharing - difficult to show the dock

I've had this problem in Mavericks and now again in Yosemite. When screen sharing with another computer whose dock "Automatically" hides and shows the dock, I have a very difficult time positioning the cursor so that a hidden dock will reveal itself. Sometimes an initial waking of the dock works normally but subsequent tries to bring up a hidden dock will take multiple tries, putting the cursor close to the bottom edge of the shared screen, moving the cursor along the bottom edge, etc. It's almost like you have to tickle the area where the dock will appear to get its attention. Sometimes I'll spend minutes trying to get the dock to appear. This happens on a local network so it's not like there is a network delay problem.
What's going on here?

I have this too. Very irritating. Especially when you are in full screen screen sharing, because when you hover the cursor at the bottom of the screen, the host dock pops up and obscures the dock in the screen sharing window.
Here is a workaround: Press cmd-option-d (d for DOCK).
This will show or hide the dock.
And because you are in screensharing, all shortcuts will be sent to the target system and not to your local machine.

Saving Screen Sharing Connections

Ok, this is driving me crazy. How do you save a Screen Sharing connection so that you do not have to enter the IP address every time. I am referring to accessing a computer remotely over the Internet done through port 5900. I have the screen sharing set up and working fine, and I even have one of these shortcuts made a year ago, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it again.
I think may be it was a trick using TextEdit? I know you can do this for ssh connections, but I can't remember the syntax for doing it for screen sharing. If I remember correctly you can type the right syntax followed by the IP address in TextEdit. Then you highlight the text and drag it to the desktop which results in a .inetloc file. After that you can simply doubleclick on the file and it will automatically launch the Screen Share.app and go to the right IP.

Open Safari
Type in "vnc://your.ip.address" in the address bar (I use Bonjour so it's "vnc://computername.local")
Drag the blue globe in the address bar onto your desktop

Why do I get connection failed when logging in on app store on wireless, but Wired LAN works fine?

I've been having the same issue as many other people. On OSX Lion with latest updates as of 3/20/2012. Tried deleting .plist files, checking keychain access and even reset keychain. I still get the error of Connection Failed when trying to download updates or a new app from the app store.
I also can't connect to the iTunes "Account" area. It produces an error that the request failed (-1200)
I finally decided to try a wired connection instead of my wireless. Now it works great! So I removed my wireless network and re-added it. Back to square one. Work around for now is fine, but I should be able to use this over wireless, too!
I just now tested connecting to a different wireless network (EVO Hotspot) and it worked fine. So it's something specific to my office wireless network. Nothing changed on our firewall (I'm the administrator). It just stopped working.

Well heres my story. I tried kde4 from extra the last 3 weeks and I like it. I have used xfce for the past 3 years, previous to that gnome. Tried kde but never really liked it. Now I am only using workspace, base, mutimedia and graphics.
Here is what I like.
1- Dolphin, awesome I have used thunar a while and it is great but I love splitview, and fish for ssh (which has been around a while I know), and the ability to mount other partitions on my hdd with a click no fstab entry or nothin'.
2-Pretty, I've used xfce with built in compositor an love the snappiness. But I like desktop grid with kde4 and flipswitch. Compiz-fusion is cool but I prefer not to use I'll take what the DE gives. Plasmoid are cool too.
3- Gwenview is nice too. Use to use gqview, but thumnails are nice.
Looking forward to or lacking
1- Keyboard shortcuts, Yes xbindkeys is there but if I have a DE I want it to do it. They just don't work now.
2- kde4 has windows specific settings, but I can't set the opacity for particular windows , doesn't work.
3- Ram of course is much higher in kde4, but maybe I'm getting old I just don't care as much.

The TC is the wifi base station, also have AirportExpress on the network, both of which work fine. The TC has an external disc connected as well, which is also visible in the sidebar but also cannot be connected to. Several MB computers use the network, all of which either can or cannot connect to the TC disc depending on when it is acting up.
Any ideas other than clicking "connect as" or powering down the network every time?

Connections drop when using Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client

Folks I have a strange issues. I have a few laptops that I'm testing using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Network Access Manager. We like the interface and overall are happy, but have one nagging issue. Periodically the connection drops when using the client, and the only way to reconnect is to choose the Network repair option on the client. That fixes it just fine, but we shouldn't have to do this. The same clients using the built in WIndows supplicant do not have this problem. We are on version 3.0.07059.

Right now I'm testing on a single access point (autonomous) with WEP! The same laptop works fine without the Cisco client. Usually it is several hours, 12 or more when it happens, but I've seen it less than that. And I've seen it up for over a day and a half. At this point I just don't trust the client to roll out to a larger audience.
