Screen Sharing in Lion from iPad

Hello!
I am using 10.7.0 Lion now and when I had 10.6.8 installed (or when booting from the back up) I was able to see my screen from my iPad using Mocha VNC or VNC Viewer.
Now, when I open my mini from the iPad I get a login page, but I can't do anything, I can't type a password or click on the account. This is using Screen Sharing from Preferences.
If I use a server app like Real VNC, I get a black screen on the iPad, but I can move the mouse around and click anywhere I like, but with a black screen.
I am aware that screen sharing has changed in Lion, I can now log on any account on the Mac, but it is not working from the iPad (using Mocha VNC or VNC Viewer).
Can somebody help me? I use this feature every day.
Wilfredo.

I use mocha vnc and have the same problem but you can get around it by making a simple macro #T (no space) then your password (no space) #R . When you see the login screen recall this marco and then press the enter arrow in vnc and you will log into lion. Makes it useable until a software fix.
This works like a charm!
I was also able to input the account password and make it work. Don't know what I did, but it is now working in Mocha. I like VNC Viewer too, but sometimes I am able to input the password and sometimes I can't.
Thanks.

  • How do I activate the Multi-Screen Sharing in Lion?

    Hi,
How do I activate the Multi-Screen Sharing in Lion? I was told it was on by default but when my partner logs in from his machine, I can't also login to the actual Mac itself. When I first enabled Sharing it allowed him to connect even though I was already logged in but it was very sluggish and eventually the whole system crashed.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Found it!
Make sure you have multiple desktops already running.
    Go to System Preferences->Keyboard
    Choose Keyboard Shortcuts
On the left select Mission Control.  On the right, I have "Switch to Desktop 1, Switch to Desktop 2, etc"
On my iMac they were checked, and working.
On my MacBook they were unchecked.  Checked the boxes, now it works.

  • Is it possible to use screen sharing between lion and mountain lion

I could always use screen sharing between my 2010 macbook and my 2007 macmini, both with lion. But now since I upgraded the macbook to mountain loin it doesn't work. The macmini did at first show up on the macbook finder sidebar under sharing like it always had done but as soon as I tried to connect the sharing option disappeared and won't come back. The macmini can still see the macbook however, its on the finder there. But when I try to connect from the mini to the macbook I get an error message that says something like "server error" and contact administrator(that's me!)I can't upgrade the mini to mountain lion as it's too old.So it this an incompatibility between the two operating systems or is it something else?
I also tried to do it with BackTo My Mac,enabled through icloud on both computers but no luck, not even showing the Back to my Mac icon on either Finder sidebar like it's supposed to.When I did it through system preferences-icloud,it said this was successfully enabled but it just doesn't work at all.
Cross about this since I always use the macbook to control the macmini which is plugged into a flat screen tv and it's much easier than fiddling around with a mouse and keyboard.

I can screen share my wife's Lion iMac using Mountain Lion and the reverse is true. If the computer is not showing up to be selected under shard on the left column of the finder it is probable a connection issue. I would check my home network, restart the the macs and toggle the sharded settings and energy saving settings like wake for network activity. Be sure and set up iCloud on both your macs and turn on UPnP if you have a router for your home network serving up NAT IP Numbers. UPnG will make the port forwarding enteries in you router to allow you macs to connect behind the firewall created by nat addressing.
I am currently having a problem with back to my mac. S
creen shares great the the Lion iMac but Mountain Lion to Mountain on one computer will not connect if the computer is sleeping. It lights the screen on the sleeping computer but never shows on the computer requesting to share. File share always workd. If I wake the computere before I attemp the connection, screen share work as it should. If I try to screen share while the second computer is sleeping, It will never work again until I restart the iMac.

  • Screen Sharing between Lion and SL?

I was about to purchase the new Mini Server but saw that it has Lion pre-installed. So I assume it won't run under Snow Leopard, which would have been my preference. As my other machines are all running SL and having no plans to change this soon, I am wondering of screen sharing would work between my MacPro (OS 10.6.8) and the Mini (OS 10.7).
Does anybody have experience with such a setup?
    Thanks.

I will try it and see later but it will be this evening, (about 10 hours from now). FYI, mine are both all but standard Macs on a standard network. The Pro is wired the mini wireless. I have nothing like Remote Desktop installed.
If I don't reply, send me a message later. I may have forgotten.

  • Screen Sharing and Wake from Sleep

    Hi,
I'd like to know if there's any way a Screen Sharing request from a remote vnc client can wake a Leopard machine from sleep. I've opened the vnc port on firewall, tested screen sharing while its awake... all good. When the target machine is asleep though it doesn't see the request as "Wake for Ethernet Administrator Access" I guess ?
Has anybody found a way to do this? I spoke to Apple support but they suggested I try Discussions.
    Cheers.

None of the file sharing or screen sharing apps actually send the WOL packet. You can have launchd watch the screen sharing app and then send the WOL signal when you use it. There will be a slight delay but it does work. You need to download and install wol as it does not ship with osx. You will also probably want to get "lingon" so you can set up launchd easily.
Commentary: I find it ridicules that this stuff isn't already built into the apps. Electric costs money and using it unnecessarily is a waste. Yet not one of the apps or tools designed to work over ethernet with another computer sends the wol command. Its like the developers expect you to have your computer on 24/7.

  • Screen sharing between Lion and Snow Leopard

Does anyone know whether it is possible to do Screen Sharing between two Macs where one is using lion and the other Snow Leopard?  I use this feature to help my father with his computer problems but am wary about upgrading my machine to Lion without an assurance that it will work across OS's.  He is in Europe where I believe Lion a) may not yet have been released and b) think it unlikely anyway that I will be able to encourage him to change something he is already finding difficult (aged 84) having never had to use a computer prior to 3 years ago at my behest.

after reading your post, i thought i'd do the same on my lion machine -- toggle screen sharing off and back on -- only to discover that it was *already* off, although it was positively enabled on the same machine when running snow leopard.
i never disabled it, as i use the feature quite regularly, which is why it never occurred to me to check the sharing settings, because i always leave screen sharing on. but apparently installing lion either caused the setting to revert, or it's possible lion simply installs with screen-sharing off by default. (who knows.)
    regardless -- a simple fix.
    thanks.

  • Screen sharing in Lion question

I am trying to set up screen sharing in my local network.
I am using a MacBook with latest Lion as server to which I am trying to connect.
I am connecting with a Powerbook 12" 10.5.8 without problems and controlling the MacBook via Screen Sharing.
I am unable to connect to the MacBook using a MacBook Pro with same Lion installed.
Before that I used the same setup to try out RealVNC. Again, the Powerbook connected to the MacBook without problems, but the MacBook Pro is unable to connect.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
Oops, posted in wrong forum. Will try under Lion. Sorry.

  • Is there a way to switch to single-user mode for screen sharing in Lion?

    Hello,
with the new multiple user mode one screen sharing guest can not see the mouse cursor of another - even if they use the same login.
It's a pity, because we use screensharing to discuss the content of the screens with multiple screen sharing users.
It is necessary to point with the cursor to show the other members of this 'screen sharing meeting' things while discussing.
This is not possible anymore with Lion and multi user screen sharing.
Does anybody know a patch or terminal command to switch back to single user mode for screen sharing?
    Kind regards
    Carl M.

    Hi, try this...

    By Mad9000...
This is what worked for me:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Sharing and uncheck Screen Sharing and File Sharing
    2. Restart Mac
    3. System Preferences > Sharing and recheck Screen Sharing and File Sharing
    4. Problem solved (for me anyway)

  • Screen Sharing not working from Yosemite 10.10.2 = Mavericks

Seemingly after the upgrade from 10.10.1 to 10.10.2 my workstation can no longer connect to the workstations that I had successfully before been connecting to before the upgrade. I have already tried formatting my hard drive and transferring files from a previous Time Machine backup.
From the terminal if I issue this command:
    open vnc://192.168.1.201
Below you can find the relevant logging to /var/log/system.log (including leading and trailing logs for potentialy relevance)
    http://tny.cz/69b303b6
I can succesfully connect to that URL from a machine running mavericks version 10.9.4 on the same wireless network.
Clearly something is crashing on the newer Yosemite machine – potentially relevant lines are:
"Screen Sharing[309]: No valid display name"
    "acquire_kerberos failed com.apple.idms.appleid.prd"
"-[SSAddress url]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x7fad60e77510"
Another thing to note is that I can only perform that operation one time and achieve that stacktrace. Every other time I issue that command Screen Sharing.app fails silently.
    Thanks!
    James

    Hi Bill,
You could try removing all the installed components manually and then try again (install, don't open but update right away).
According to the installer the files are located in:
/Applications/Remote Desktop.app (that one was hard to find )
    /Library/Application Support/Apple/Remote Desktop/
    /Library/Preferences/com.Apple.ARDAgent.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.Apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    /Library/Receipts/
    /Library/Widgets/RemoteDesktop.wdgt
(not sure if the following files tie into other parts of the OS so removing them may cause issues)
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement
    /usr/bin/share/man/man1
perhaps a permission repair after all parts have been deleted and a restart before trying again.

  • Bugfix required : edit shared library playlist from iPad

    Hi,
Editing playlist on iTunes using shared library from iPad 3 is faulty. Would it be possible to fix please?
    Example of fault:
On iPad using built-in 'Music' app
View shared iTunes library stored on PC from iPad
    View playlists
    Edit playlist
Add a song to this playlist (still viewing PC playlists)
    Click Done.
    Finished!
All seems ok on iPad. I can view new playlist stored on PC via iPad.
HOWEVER : all is not what it seems ,
    THE PROBLEM:
The playlist on the PC has not changed at all.
The iPad appears to display the newly updated playlist.
But this new playlist is only valid for the current session as nothing has been updated / synced to the PC.
A manual iPad to iTunes sync makes no difference.
Please fix this as soon as possible.
I find this useful when playing my guitar in another room to my itunes shared PC library through my iPad. When I find a new song I like to play, I like to add it to a 'guitar playlist' on the PC for a permanent record for next time.
There's obviously a small glitch as facility is there , it just does not quite work.
Would you folks at Apple please have a look at this for me.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Alex.

Ok thanks king penguin. Posted it there. In the meantime if anyone else has this problem I'd be interested.
Incidentally I have found a work around but it's a bit long winded
I can edit the playlist from the 'Remote' app but it's just a bit of a long way around for something which looks as though it should work from within the app.

  • Sharing a journal from iPad to iTunes, where did it go?

    Hi,
I made a journal on my iPad and shared it to iTunes and I wasn't sure where it ended up because I can't find it anywhere on iTunes on my computer.  Where is it? I wanted to be able to send it to someone.
    Thanks!
    Todd

Downloaded films (and those synced from your computer) should be in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :

  • Is Screen sharing is possible in iPad apps

Is it possible to create an app that shares my iPad screen to another iPad.I understood from several discussions that it is not possible to  create an app that share smy iPad screen among other iOS devices since apple does not permit it.So can anybody share the apple documentation link that supports this answer? Thanks in advance.

If you are attempting to create an app to do that, you should post in the developers forum, as previously suggested.
If you are looking for an app to do that, search the app store.

  • How to screen share an ibook from ipad to mac?

Is it possible to view an Ibook from my Ipad onto my Mac computer?

    Take a look at Reflector:
    http://www.reflectorapp.com
Note that it won't give you control of the iPad from the Mac. You'll still have to change pages, etc. from the iPad.

  • Sharing Garageband project from ipad to ipad

    Hello
i want to share a garageband project from an ipad to another one, but when saving it from itunes to my computer, it is stored in folders. If i send the folders to another computer, it is not possible to import these folders using the itunes, (so the project would go straight to the garageband ipad app)
Is there any other way to share it from an ipad to another??
    thx
PS: im using itunes for windows

When transferring projects there are several ways to do this. If you talking about transferring a project that when loaded from the other person they get all your settings as you see it on your iPad. Ie. tracks that we're recorded, reverba nd delay choice and settings, instruments used ect... Then NO. What you can do is simply email the track or song to the other person. When they receive the email they can open it and save the audio files in garagebands and it shows up in the iPad GarageBand apple loops folder which then you drag and drop them into your project. You can also open the email audio right from within your iPad if you have Daw Multitrack or MusicStudio App for iPad then you simply hold down the song icon in your email for a few seconds and the option to open the file comes up by these two apps. Simply select the app to open it, copy to the pasteboard and that audio is now available throughout all you audio apps that support pasteboard copy which is pretty much all of them. To paste in GarageBand simply choose an empty track make sure you select the microphone, make the bar count set to auto, set the tempo to the songs tempo, set the key signature to match the song and touch the blank track and you will see paste, touch paste and whatever was in the pasteboard at the time will be pasted into your project. If someone wants to see an exact duplicit of what you are seeing then send them a note or text with the setting since there is only 8 tracks and just a few minor FX setting they should be looking at what you are fairly quickly. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays.
