Screen Sharing keyboard shortcuts

I frequently use the built in screen sharing in finder to connect to my Mac Pro from my laptop and vise-versa. I have two 20" displays set up to the desktop and often need to switch between display 1 and display 2. I tired to assign a keyboard shortcut from the Keyboard Shortcuts tab in the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane, but I think my command is being sent to my Mac Pro opposed to the Screen Sharing application on my laptop. If I look in the View menu in the Screen Sharing application it shows the shortcuts I assigned, so I know there is not problem with setting the shortcut.
Is there any way I can have my command be sent to the app on my laptop opposed to whatever I am currently controlling over the network?

Sharing keyboard shortcuts via script

Our company maintains a custom InDesign shortcut set which we share among our users. We push the .indk file to each user's "InDesign Shortcut Sets" folder at system startup.
Trouble is, when users receive an updated version of the .indk file, InDesign doesn't automatically honor the new keyboard assignments. Users need to open the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog, select a different shortcut set (such as Default), click OK, then reopen the dialog, select the shared set and click OK.
Not very efficient.
So, I'm wondering: Is there a way to script the selection of a shortcut set? I can't seem to find anything in the object model that would do the trick.

Hi Jurgen - it did go away in 10.4. A lot of users who relied on this feature before have found FastScripts Lite to be a suitable replacement. I can see why you wouldn't want to run yet another app, but hey at least it's free! It will give you essentially an identical user experience as before.
Hopefully Apple will add the shortcuts back in 10.5 (maybe for the whole script menu like FastScripts does?).

Screen Saver keyboard shortcut?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to activate a screensaver? If not could I assign a keyboard shortcut?

There's neither a keyboard shortcut, nor a straightforward way to assign a keyboard shortcut, to launch the screen saver. However, there are some workarounds to this:
1. One method can be found in the last four paragraphs of this Macworld article. It will require you to provide your password when you want to end the screen saver.
2. See this topic on Mac OS X Hints. There are a variety of ideas discussed therein, including writing an AppleScript to launch the screen saver, which can then be assigned to a keyboard shortcut using third-party apps like iKey and QuickKeys, which provide more function than Mac OS X in defining your own keyboard shortcuts.
To see all the comments in that topic, in the pop-up menu below the main comment that reads "Threaded" select "Nested" and then click Refresh.
3. A couple of folks have developed utilities for this. You can check out LockTight (also mentioned in the Mac OS X Hints topic cited in point 2) and Salute. Note that I've not tried either of these apps, but the comments I've read about them have been positive.

Change screen share keyboard shortcut

Hello,
I just got a new keyboard that connect to multiple computers. Very helpful...however the Command F2 button actually registers as Command F15.
Is there a way to change my share screen shortcut or change what my keyboard perceives is happening so I can use share screen from this keyboard?
Any help would be great!

Sure does seem to be missing from the obvious places, doesn't it? Probably because it's not actually in a menu anywhere.
Recording an action does yield a bit of a clue... It records as Merge Visible With Duplicate:
The Alt seems to add the "With Duplicate".
Just a guess, but based on the above, if you were to change the Merge Visible shortcut to something besides Control-Shift-E you might find that adding Alt to whatever you assign to that function would be a Stamp Visible operation. I didn't try that.
Or you could record an action as above and assign it a function key.

Exposé active screen corners - keyboard shortcuts disappear

I use e.g. the command key shortcut for activating the active screen corners (in order to avoid that they are activated when the mouse pointer is accidentally placed in one of the screen corners). It works fine and ...then one day the command key setting disappears from the settings. The active screen corners do continue to work, but simply by moving the pointer to a corner without pressing the command key. Very frustrating. What's wrong?

Simply go into System Preferences > Expose & Spaces.
Select the dropdown for the appropriate corner, press the keys you want (cmd alt ctrl & shift are possible.)
Then select the action and let go.

Instant screen lock keyboard shortcut

I am posting this because I was unable to find answer on these boards-- but I found the answer by experimentation.
Pre-Mavericks, the key sequence was Shift-Control-Power Button. Now, that just puts my MacBook Pro 15" (late 2011) to sleep.
I discovered that Shift-Control-Eject does the trick.

Shortcuts over Screen Sharing

Hello,
I am using Screen Sharing to remote control a machine that can handle tasks that my MBP cannot.
It allows me to do everything from the keyboard/pad of my MBP, no extra interfaces, which is very handy, I love it.
The only issue I encounter is with the use of keyboard shortcuts - while "in" Screen Sharing, some shortcuts apply to the master machine (e.g. iTunes default shortcuts) and some others to the slave machine (e.g. Finder "delete" shortcut).
What's the rule, how does it work?
I did set up a series of custom shortcuts via Quicksilver to run Applescripts controlling iTunes, and I'd like to have them working (=taking effect on the master machine) while being in Screen Sharing, which is not the case at the moment.
Any idea on how to achieve that?

I've been complaining about this problem for a long time too. Just bought a new Mini X Server which I would like to run headless. It's silly that Time Machine won't redraw properly - actually making TM more or less useless if you are accessing it using VNC or Time Machine.
Come on Apple...

CS6: Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts javascript error

Does anyone know how to fix this:
In CS6, when I right-click a new snippet and select Edit Keyboard Shortcuts, I just get a javascript error, the same error I get if I try to create a keyboard shortcut directly from the menu at the top of the screen, Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts.
The error is "At line 321 of <path>\Keyboard Shortcuts.js getMenuTree: Argument number 1 is invalid."
After that, where the list of standard shortcuts should appear, the list is blank. All the other built-in shortcuts also are blank, and trying to duplicate the standard set just creates a blank set and doesn't let me add anything. Deleting Dreamweaver's cache file, the blahblah.dat thing, doesn't fix it.

IChat screen sharing - switch computer keyboard shortcut? Help please.

When I am screen sharing with a person in order to switch to my computer I must move my mouse and click the window in the bottom left...when doing so I interrupt something someone is doing on their computer...is there a keyboard shortcut to switch between the two computers without moving your mouse?

Ok, I just found out how to do this. It isn't an official solution, but it works quite well.
Simply press the power button. You will then regain control of your mouse. Hit command-tab or use the dock to switch apps. Do not click cancel until you've switched apps, or you'll be thrown back into the screen sharing. Once you're out of iChat, you can do whatever you need to do. The Mac you were sharing with will remain in the background above your desktop, so you can keep an eye on it. When you need to get back in control of the action, just click into the other Mac's screen, which is effectively an iChat window. iChat will return to the foreground, and you'll be back where you started. Are there any shortcut keys to switch between displays in screen sharing?

I have been trying the option-command-1 & 2 shortcut but it doesn not want to work for me. Is there something I need to setup before doing this?

I was talking about the keyboard shortcuts for the screen sharing app. I found out you need to be in Observer mode before using the option-command-1 & 2 shortcut.

Screen Sharing and different language keyboard

Hi all,
my MacBookPro has US Keyboard and my iMac ITA.
If I tray to access to my iMac from my MaBook via Screen Sharing while it's Standing By, it asks me to login.
Unfortunately it was started with the Italian keyboard and in the session there is no chance to change it in the login form, so... it's very difficult input password with different keyboard layout...!!
Anyone know if there is a trick (keys combination) to invoke a function to resolve this problem?

Screen Sharing and Keyboard Commands

Wow! I just discovered screen sharing on Leopard! I knew I could share across Ichat but didn't realise you could share on your own home network. It works brilliantly but i have a question.
How do you use keyboard commands whilst sharing?
For example I want to use quicksilver on the computer I'm controlling from my laptop of course quicksilver becomes active on laptop not the machine I'm controlling.
In other words how do i direct all keyboard entry to the other machine?
