Screen shifts 1/4" to 3/4" and will not respond

I have an IMac running OS X Version 10.9.3 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory. It has a 500 GB hard drive with 256 GB used and 242 GB available.
The problem is that while using Safari, Mail, Word, Pages, most any program, the entire Screen (including any and all windows that are open) will shift either to the right or to the left a very small amount (1/4" to 3/4") and will then sit there, and I will be unable to complete any action, escape, close, type, etc. Sometimes the screen will jiggle to right or left and then remain unusable until everything returns to the original position at which point I can go on with whatever action I was trying to do. Most often this screen shift is when I am using the mouse on the screen to maneuver around. The screen never goes up or down, only sideways.
Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution. I took the machine to the Genius Bar and their only solution was to wipe the machine and then have me restore it from back-up after which the problem still remained.

The problem normally caused by graphic drivers corruption. Try reinstall the OS on top of the existing one. Ally our apps and data would be maintained. Reboot then the problem normally go away.

Apply Store did full hardware diagnostic and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back to Mountain Lion but problem remains. Apple Store can do no more.

I did some more digging, it appears to be a backlight problem only. I can see the screen very dimly if I use a bright flashlight in a very dark room. It also seems to run ok if the brightness is turned down a LOT.
So I'm thinking this is a LED driver board issue or the display itself. I'll open it up and check the connection between the two and see if I can get any more clues. At least I can use it somewhat now by dimming the display significantly...

Try double-tapping the screen with 3 fingers and see if that zooms it back out - and if it does set Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom 'off'. If it doesn't zoom you back then try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

It sounds like you have done some great troubleshooting for your iPod nano that is not responding. In this situation, if resetting it did not resolve, I would suggest restoring the iPod back to its factory settings and then sync your content back onto it from iTunes. The battery has to drain eventually. Be patient. Letting it drain and charging it back up after it goes black should fix this.

Try a reset:

Try resetting your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.

I have tried both uninstalling the software and reinstalling it, I have tried to run the software in safemode, and I have tried to change the Quicktime settings to see if that helps.
Nothing has worked. It always does the same thing, where it freezes the moment I tell it to "play".
I have tried to use my other computer instead, going through the same process and I got the exact same result where it freezes.
Therefore it has to be something to do with the software, because the computers use different graphics cards, yet it responds the same.

Also, I suggest paying close attention to the list of programs that you would need to uninstall, in order, so that you can fully uninstall iTunes and all related components from your computer. If those programs and steps are not followed exactly, you may end up with issues using iTunes.
