Screen shrinking or am i imagining things

When my backlight goes on, there is a black "border" of about 4-5 pixels around the whole screen. I might be losing my mind, but i could have sworn that it had used the entire screen surface before (ie right up to where the clear screen meets the white of the iPod body.. Does anyone else have the same issue?
It's like a whole area of 4-5 pixels all the way around the screen are not letting light through. Did i mess up a setting. or is this how it is supposed to be?

Thanks. It's odd, i just noticed all of a sudden the other day. I have been under a ton of stress the last week or so with finals. I just finished my last final project for my MBA program. So with all the stress, i wan't sure if i was losing my mind or not:)
if i look really really closely at it, at a certain angle, it appears to be part of the actual LCD, like 4 or so pixels all the way around don't light up. Oh well, if others have the same thing, it must be normal. Saves me a trip to an apple store where i would have looked like a moron.

I downloaded a video in a zip file, when it started the whole window went white. When I right click on the screen under properties it tells me it is a Firefox document. I rebooted to fix the problem and I saw a brief view of my wallpaper and desktop icons then back to the white screen. When I boot up or log in to the admin account (guest account is fine) I get a pure white screen. I cannot access any thing including the task bar. The only way out is to reboot and the problem repeats. I have booted with my anti virus program and it finds no problems. When I exit the anti virus program there is the brief view of the desktop and back to the white screen. HELP, I don't want to lose everything because I have to reload the OS.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />

Screen shrinks; Remote server error message

When Users other than me log on they get an error message after a few minutes. The screen shrinks to the upper left hand corner and red text appears in the center of the screen: "Unable to connect to remote server. Please ensure main computer is running and within the same local area network. Click to continue". I cannot figure out where this message is coming from. I do not connect to any remote servers, I have sharing off, and firewalls on. It only occurs for my non-administrator users.
Any ideas what is triggering this message?

I would suggest a complete reinstallation of the software. First uninstall the software using windows uninstaller and then comfirm if the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5\ or c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5 whichever applicable has been deleted. After this, install the PSE again

Mine doesn't show anything in the CSS Designer panel when I make a selection in Code Vew. It will only pop up the css set for a given element if I select that element in Design View first. If I drill down using the Sources and Selectors sub windows in the CSS Designer panel itself, it works the same in both. I pretty much never use it, but it doesn't do what you're explaining in my version of DWCC, so I'd guess you may have some slight corruption in the program.
Unless, does it make a difference if you have Live View turned on or not?
You could try clearing the program cache/personal config folder: Deleting a corrupted cache file

This morning I had some time to spare, and just for fun I decided to check if it was still impossible to change the language of the interface of these forums. Just to make sure I was doing things right, I went first to this FAQ with instructions that I knew did not work at the time, and even for months after been posted (which I had reported, as others but without any reaction):

As this FAQ had not been changed since it was posted, the instructions were the same that I remembered. I obediently went to look for the Region links at the top of the page, only to find that IT IS NO LONGER THERE, so there is now no way of changing the language of the interface. Or at least, one that I could find.
And then I noticed that this was not the only change up there. For example, the You are logged in as Claudio González line had also disappeared!. But this was not all. The best´part was that, marvel of marvels,
some of the enormous wasted space up there had been reduced, and I could see the titles of the first few threads without having to scroll down!!!
I was working on my new Mac and I thought that all this could be just a combined effect of a new computer, a new operating system, and a new browser, so I mover to my Win laptop, and I couldn't believe my eyes: everything I had seen was reproduced here as well!!
Then I remembered this thread for announcing updates in these forums, where I thought I was going to find a proud message announcing these changes:

Am I imagining all this? Am I witnessing the test phase of a change to come? Or have these changes actually been made in absolute secrecy? Screen shrinked in ITS

Hi Friends,
We have developed a custom screen, with few buttons on application tool bar and ALV in custom container.
Every thing is fine when report is viewed from normal tcode logged in thru GUI, but same is shrinked to 1/4th of size in vertical size when viewed from ITS.
Appreciate if someone can help me in this regard.

Well, you can't perform a reset then. What happens when you plug the phone into a power source? If nothing, then you'll have to make an appointment at any Apple store. The genius bar will offer you an out of warranty replacement. Cost is US $269.

Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Screen shrinks after vga connection

Following the most recent OS X update (Mountain Lion to Mavericks) to my macbook pro, whenever I connect my VGA display that is linked to an Elmo document camera and an Optoma projector/Promethean board the screen on my laptop shrinks and the icons are magnified (this never happened before the update). I have gone into the system preferences and toyed with the settings but to no avail. Does anybody have any clue as to how to rememdy the situation?

I don't read Spanish very well, but did you leave the Blackberry plugged in when you
rebooted the PC? Vista might have tried to used the BB as a drive for error checking or system functions.

hey i was wondering if i could take a screen video like a screen shot,

So after updating my ipod touch 3rd gen to 4.3.1 i noticed a lag everytime i turn it back on. it stays on the lock screen for minutes sometimes hours. the screen is usually unresponsive the only things usually changing are the time and battery percentage.

so aafter upsating my touch to 4.3.1 i have noticed everytime i restart the ipod there is a huge lag at the lock screen. the screen only updates itself every three to five minutes only updating the time and battery status. i cannot do anything, usually it will stay like this for minutes sometimes hours. i have tried restoring it and thought updating will fix the problem but it hasn't yet. i currently have ios 4.3.3. recently i had a friend look into the ipod and he told me on a folder called damaged files he found this, 37c3ad com.apple.autowake.plist. how can i fix this?

If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.

What to do if the screen is stuck on the draft screen? I was writing a mail, saved it as draft, then later, was able to send it. However, the screen did not revert to the inbox page. The draft page seems to be hung or stucked. Safari and all others are working ok though.

I sent the draft to myself several times. That did not seem to be working, but when I opened Mail this morning, it has been sent all of the times and the Mail screen is no longer frozen.
