Screen size changing

Hi all.
I'm a new Toshiba laptop owner. I had a Dell Studio but the dc jack took a dump and it was going to cost more to fix it then to replace the whole system. I purchsed the satellite laptop and really like it.
I am having an issue while on the internet. As I am scrolling on the mouse pad, the viewing screen just shrinks and alot of it is inaccessible. CTRL + works to get out of it but it is getting annoying.
Is there any way to lock the screen from shrinking unless I use the CTRL - shortcut?

Misterx,
Thank you for the reply. I don't think it is a pinch and zoom issue. I am familar with that on cell phone etc. The zoom changes on all screens changes for some reason. When it changes, the mouse pointer changes to a little things that points in all directions up - down - right - left. I can make it happen my holding down the mouse pas with one finger and sliding a finger to the left to make the zoom/screen smaller and to the right to make the zoom/screen larger. Any help would be great.

  • Screen size changes......sometimes

I started seeing some strange behavior with a VI right after I started setting properties in preperation of building it into an .exe
The VIs properties have been set to run in Maximized mode.  But on starting (sometimes) the VI will very briefly flash to a very small size before maximizing.
I added a property node in the VI itself to insure that it would run Maximized and to possibly eliminate this "flashing" that I was seeing.  At first I thought it worked.  But occasionally I'm still seeing the problem.
What's really odd is that the size the VI seems to "flash" to is same size (and shape) of my Project Explorer window.  I've never resized this VI to look anything like that, and certainly never saved it that way.
So I'm curious about two things.
    1. How do prevent this "flashing" from happening?
    2. What might have caused it in the first place?
Is it "safer" to not use the VI's property menu to set things like mode?  Am I better to do this programatically?
    Thanks

I'm about 99.7% sure that I never saved that
particular VI in any size other than maximized.  Until I get my new
laptop, (hopefully this week) I'm still doing everything in 1024x768.
So even maximized isn't all that big.  Especially when you're talking
about an app that pulls from a database and dumps into a big table.
    Yesterday
I changed the VI's properties through the menu to stay "Unchanged".
But I still left the property node in place that Maximizes the FP when
the VI starts.  I think that may have fixed it.
Any particular formula u used to arrive at 99.7? (just kidding)

Its not what we don't know that causes the biggest problems.  The biggest problems come from what we DO know, incorrectly.  Challenge your assumption!  After all, you haven't solved the problem yet

  • Swing Screen size changing in 1.5

we developed swing screen in jdk1.4 based on the JInternalFrame. The screen is fit well with in the MDI. But jdk1.5 it looks not fitting. Anybody have idea what is the issue.

Anybody have idea what is the issue.
I'm willing to bet the issue is a poorly constructed UI - let me guess, are you using null layout managers anywhere? Have you used a visual UI builder?
If not then what exact symptoms are you seeing? Two comparative screenshots would be useful.
The XP L&Fs in 1.4 and 1.5 are slightly different in terms of default spacing for some components but a properly assembled UI should not have a problem with it.

Possible reasons a window would change size
Ctrl or Alt Spacebar and left click drag (standard zoom feature)
or my best guess, he has Zoom with mouse wheel check in General preferences.  This operates completely by itself, (no other key needed) so would be very easy to make happen unintentionally.

  • Changing resolution in i3wm causes screen size to shrink

On i3wm, I use xrandr when I use an external screen, such as the following command:
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto --output VGA1 --auto --same-as LVDS1
This allows me to duplicate my screen on another monitor. However, when I do this, the effective screen size changes: the maximized windows will only fill about 3/4ths of the monitor from left to right. In addition, the right side of the system tray shift so that it fits within this smaller screen size. The rest of my i3bar and my background (using feh --bg-scale) still fill the entire screen. Additionally, I can move my mouse to every part of the screen, and floating windows can exist everywhere. Here's a screenshot depicting the situation. How can I resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

i3 will then use the lowest common subset of screen resolutions, the rest of your screen will be left untouched (it will show the X background). So, in our example, this would be 1024x768 (my notebook has 1280x800).
Looks like it is meant to be that way described in the userguide.

  • 5G vs iPod Classic Screen Size / Resolution

Has there been in change in the screen size, resolution or # of colors between the 5G iPod (not the 5.5G) and the iPod Classic? I think there may have been a screen size change at least from the 5G to the 5.5G, but I'm not sure.
    Tony

No, the screen size did not change at all from 5th Gen to 5.5 Gen. What they changed was to go with a brighter screen that used less power.
I have not seen any indication by Apple's marketing weasels on the web pages going on about a better, bigger, brighter, more colorful, etc. screen, so I am assuming that is uses the same screen as the 5.5Gen iPods.
I figure if it had more colors or something like that, that would be one of the new and improved features they would be going on about.

  • Hi can some one please help my screen size has changed its self  and is now larger than the screen can someone please let me know if this is a bug? if so how do i fix this? or am i just a nonce? if so how do i resolve this thanks in advance.

sorry Q is in the tittle having big issues with my screen so its hard to use

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Universal Access
are both places where screen size may change inadvertantly.  Use higher resolutions, but lower screen zoom.

  • Changing phone screen size

is there anyway to change the phone emulators screen size?

Sure. If you look in the wtklib/device/[the emulator you want to change] directory there is a file called [the emulator you want to change].properties (like DefaultColorPhone.properties).
There you'll find all the emulator's settings, including the screen size, the image to use for the skin, the location of each button, etc. You can play with those values and create your own skins for the emulator that way.

  • Can Reflow change display tools based on changing screen sizes?

I have a lenghty check list in a desktop-sized view, but want to change to a selection wheel type of display tool for a phone-sized screen.  Is there a way to make the display tool change, yet keep the same content simply by reducing down to the smaller screen size?
Is it even possible to add a selection wheel type tool in Reflow?  If you don't know what I mean by "selection wheel" I've found this site that has a functioning example.  http://www.menuhead.com/example.php

One way of having different content at different screen sizes is to have both elements on your page, and change the display of each of them to either "Block" or "None" depending on whether or not you want it to be displayed for that media query region.
And no, we don't have a selection wheel element in Reflow. Your best bet there is probably to use a box to represent it in Reflow, and then replace it with the desired element using Dreamweaver, Brackets, or whatever other tool you use next in your workflow.
Hope that helps, and thanks for using Reflow!

  • Why is my Apple Mail's initial screen sometimes changed to half it's regular size?size

why is my Apple Mail's initial screen sometimes changed to half it's regular size? I'm using an iMac PowerPC G4 with OS/X 10.5.8 and Mail 3.6 (936).

It could be remembering where it was when you last quit the program.    The Green button in the upper left forces the window to the last adjusted size.

  • Changing screen size for screen sharing

Is there a way to change the screen size for screen sharing?
I have a 13" macbook and a G5 with a 20" monitor. When I use RDC to a PC it automatically adjusts to use the full screen on the G5 and when I use VNC to a linux system I can create a vncserver with any arbitrary geometry that I want, but when I use screen sharing all I seem to be able to get is a 13" screen. I can use JollysFast VNC, and view it full-screen, but it's still just 1280x800.
So, is there anyway to create a virtual window so that I can take better advantage the screen on my G5 when screen sharing to my macbook?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Well, the question should really have been, "What is the ideal page width for the iPad?".
The answer is that there isn't one since the iPad, like most portable devices, has two screen widths depending on whether its used in portrait or landscape mode.
If you are designing a layout specifically for the iPad, one solution is to use a folding design where the sidebar folds down to the bottom in portrait and jumps back up to the side in landscape. This will only work for personal computers and iPads.
The popular way of designing a layout to suit a large range of portable devices is to use a liquid, or semi liquid, layout that will automatically adjust to the fixed width browsers used on these devices.
    Something like this...
Neither of these methods are possible using a template based editor like iWeb and this is probably one of the main reasons that Apple has given up on the application. Surfing the internet on mobile devices is growing daily and its now become essential to have a mobile version of your website or one that can be viewed on all devices.

  • Exporting QT changes the screen size

When I finish any work, I send it to compression on both m2v and mov, high quality. My problem is that QT changes the screen size (squeezes up and down) when I open any mov file. This doesnt happen before, with the early QT version. Im sure its a QT issue since I have tried the videos I already stream in the web (which have no distortion) and QT wont let me SEE them in their original 4:3 size.
    Anything to try?
    Thank you.

    Hi:
Could you be getting confuse with pixel aspect ratio? QT shows your video like square pixels what gives you a distorted image.
If you play your m2v from inside DVDSP you must see your movie fine (rectangular pixels).
