Screen slides to the right

Ever since I downloaded and installed Lion the screen at the flick of the mouse will move to the right exposing another desktop with widgets and other stuff. The only way to get back to my regular desktop is to click on the arrow at the lower right of this new unwanted screen. How do I stop this feature. Thank you in advance.

You have Dashboard set to show as a space, rather than as an overlay, which the OS treats as being a full-screen view. And, the two-finger swipe has been set to switch between full-screen apps.
This means that when you swipe the mouse with two fingers (which, as with all gestures, can happen accidentally) it switches the view from one space (e.g. Finder) to the other (Dashboard).
You can stop this from happening either or both of these two ways -
• In System Preferences > Mission Control uncheck the item "Show Dashboard as a space". If you make just this change, Doashboard will appear as an overlay (instead of in a separate space) when activated in the Dock, and the two-finger swipe will still be available when needed to switch from one full-screen app to another.
• In System Preferences > Mouse > More Gestures, uncheck the item "Swipe between full-screen apps". If you make just this change, Dashboard will still appear as a separate view (rather than as an overlay) but will not be switched to by a two-finger swipe gesture.

• Sometimes my screen display suddently slides to the right and disappears totally. This is especially annoying when I was reading an email or doing a puzzle

Sometimes when I was typing an email and doing a puzzle, my screen would slide to the right side and disappeared. Why?

If you see something like this:
You're seeing the Dashboard, and you've accidentally performed the gesture which evokes it (three fingers slid to the right). You should be able to slide three fingers left to get back to the desktop; but you can turn off keyboard access to this screen by going to System Preferences - Mission Control, and unchecking "Show Dashboard as a space".

• Desktop appearance problem: For no apparent reason my Mac running OSX 10.4.11 imposed a mesh-like pattern over the folders on my desktop and also across the top of the screen and down the right-hand side where I have the dock. How do I remove it?

For no apparent reason my Mac (2 GHz PowerPC G5) running 10.4.11 has put a mesh-like pattern over the folders on my desktop and also a band of the same pattern across the top of the screen and down the right-hand side over the dock. (See screen grabs below.)
It doesn't affect any operations but makes folder names and drop-down menus difficult to read through the pattern.
I'm not aware of changing any settings so suspect I must have clicked on something without noticing. How do I get rid of the overlaid pattern, please?

Information about my computer is as follows:
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac8,2
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1

• Screen shifts to the left and left half of my screen appears on the right.

So there were some issues with my Harddrive, after having it replaced at the genius bar I chose to reinstall everything rather then just restoring from my Time machine.
After reinstalling Mountain Lion my screen occasionally shifts to the left and the left half of my screen appears on the right.
It seem completely random and occurs randomly. I haven't been able to tie it to any specific program.
After a couple of days of this happening once or twice a day I called apple and they suggested I do a fresh reinstall and don't move any of my data over and see if the error re-occurs. It didn't (tried it for 1-2 days..) but it might well be lucky/random that it didn't happen.
In any case.. since I couldn't deal for another day without my stuff I restored from Time Machine and the error did happen again.
So... it's something on my mac. I've done all updates... obviously
I have no idea what to do.. Everytime it happens, my mac just freezes and I can't do anything but for shutdown by pressing the shutdown menu.
How can I debug this? Anyone ever heard of this before?

• My desktop screen jerks to the right. It also goes to dashboard on its own.

After upgrading to OS X 10.6, my desktop screen jerks to the right. The screen also changes to Mission Control or Dashboard on its own. I am wondering
what I can do to stop this from happening?

OS X 10.6.8 and before can be very glitchy with the Apple Magic Mouse. OS X 10.6.8 just makes it very slow and occasionally it will zoom in/out unintendedly but with OS X 10.6 and below it can be more glitchy and cause more problems. I had the same problem with my mouse and I bought a new Logitech M325 actually yesterday. It works great. There's never any glitches, there is navigating with the scroll wheel, and scrolling with the scroll wheel actually feels... good!

• Why can't I get the slider on the right side to remain active ?

Why can't I get the slider on the right side to remain "active" ?
I'm using iTunes 11.4 on a Mac Pro with OS 10.9.5
In good old iTunes 10.7 there was a slider on the right side that you can move up and down to locate songs. That same slider is there, (but much smaller), with iTunes 11.4, but it seems to deactivate itself for reasons I do not understand.
I have found that when I go to the lower right corner and resize the iTunes window the slider will appear briefly. If I don't act very fast, that slider vanishes and I cannot scroll up and down.
Thanks !!

As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

• How do I change the size of my screen, in Develop Module, so that I can access the Exposure Slide in the right-hand colummn?

The right-hand column, under the Develop Module, begins with the Histogram and directly under the Histogram, the Tone Curve is seen. Missing is the Exposure Slide. How do I change the size of the screen to show the Exposure Slide before the Tone Curve?

Right-click (Cmd-click Mac) on the tone curve panel header or any of the other panel headers and make sure there is a checkmark for Basic.

• Has anybody else been seeing (Not Responding) at the top of the screen and having thier browser not respond to wheel scrolling and scrolling with the usual slider at the right part of the screen?

I have noticed my Firefox browser is having way too many incidences where it is "Not Responding". The browser freezes up for a second quite often and the "Not Responding" message will appear at the top of the screen.
The browser will also not scroll with either the scroll bar on the right nor with the mouse wheel. Both used to work in previous versions of Firefox, but it seems to have gotten worse since Firefox 5 0r 6. The same with the "Not Responding". It is happening more with Firefox 7 than in at least the past two versions.
Anybody else having these issues? Seems like they are hand-in-hand. Thanks for any and all help or advice. It's making me pretty angry since I'm online all day for work.
Just an FYI. At the bottom of my troubleshooting copy/paste is a suggestion to update the driver for my graphics. That was a no-go. I tried that.

Thank you for this first reply! I'll have to give this a try later....the main laptop I experience this on crashed not more than an hour after I posted this issue. I'm on a tiny, slow netbook that hasn't had the same problem. Now I'm wondering if I picked up a Trojan on the main laptop and the "Not Responding" message is a side effect of a virus or Trojan.
One of the system .dll files has been corrupted and I'm not being allowed to use recovery discs, previous disc images, or any recovery options. That was an all day sucker yesterday and from what I've read on forums and have researched, it appears I'm going to need to reload the operating system. If it is indeed a Trojan/virus, I'm surprised it made it through my antivirus and firewall. Anything is possible, really.
Thanks again, I'll get back with results once I get the wounded laptop back up and running.

• My ipod nano has horizaontal lines through the bottom portion of the screen and the left half of the screen is black, the right half of the screen changes from red, to blue to orange, etc. Any idea how to fix that?

White stripes suddenlt appeared at the bottom of the screen on my ipod nano a few weeks ago. I figured it was just from use and that it is an older model- I could still see through them and use the device. Yesterday, only the left half of the screen was visible, the other side was black. This morning, the stripes are still there, all the way across the screen on the bottom, the left side os black and the right sise is red most of the time. Any ideas on what happened and how to fix it?

Hello scgreco,
I would be concerned as well if my iPod nano screen had stripes and was partially black. I found a resource that I think would help in a situation like this.
I recommend following the steps in this troubleshooting assistant for your iPod nano model:

• All files larger than the screen aligns to the right by default

Hello,
I looked around from the existing solution pool but could not find one so here I go;
PROBLEM; All files or programs(Numbers, Pages, Finder, Web brousers, Itunes etc)that do not horizontally fit the sceen(ie requires horizontal scroll bar) in my macbook pro moves to the far right by default. Hense I cannot view the program on the left side unless make it all small enough to fit the screen. Is there a solution to this?
I am fully updated on the platform 10.6.8.
Thanks.

Thanks for the tips Captfred.
As you mention it works while I hold Control button and this is helpful. Now is there also a permanent way to keep the screen aligned to the left(or the alignment of files on the screen stays as positioned by the user) without holding the button?
Thanks.

• My MacBook Pro screen slides to the left automatically. It also shakes a bit. Help!!

I hope someone can help me with this issue. I am about to start writing my thesis and my Mac is not working properly.
If I am working on a document or on the web, my screen will slide to the left automatically. Once it slides, it shakes a bit (like it's stuck). It may slide back to the screen that I had open if I am lucky. But, I can not control the computer at this point. I see the cursor and try to control it but I can't. It just slides back and forth and shakes.
It doesn't happen all the time but it happens more often now.
Any help you can offer would be GREATLY appreciated. This computer is only 2 years old!
Thanks!

I just had a long chat with the Apple service. And they were able to help me.
SOLUTION
Go to "System Preferences" of your Mac and select "Mission Control". On top there are 5 checkboxes. Uncheck the 5th box ("usage of different spaces") and restart your Mac.
It worked out for me! Problem does not occur any more.

• My father is running firefox and his screen aligns to the right any ideas as to what he needs to do?

When my father loads any screen in Firefox what you would expect to see in the centre of the screen is instead on the right hand side as a result what you wouldnmormally see on the right hand side is missing.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.
* Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
This issue can also be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• My screen is not the right size on ipad2

I can see everything on the screen except about a quarter of an inch around the sides. I have tried double tapping to enlarge, then again to resize but that does no good. Have also tried shutting down and restarting but that also does no good. Has worked great for a year until the kids were using it last night.

If by the nano software, you mean the installer/updater, you can always download the most recent version of that (and iTunes) from Apple.
