Screen sometimes moves/stutters to the right, mouse/keyboard then unresponsive
Sometimes my screen will just stutter/shudder/jump to to the right... a bit like on normal monitors when they try to refresh the resolution or something. It will hold it there for several seconds then jump back. During this time I cannot use the mouse or keyboard until it returns to the normal position (the mouse moves but clicks do not work).
This is not the Zoom issue some people have... the screen is not zoomed in, it just jumps a few small amounts a few times to the right, then spring back a few seconds later.
Anyone know why?
This did not occue in SL and is just since the upgrade to Lion.
I figured out the issue, and feel a little daft...
The issue is due to the two finger swipe to move to a new space. Whilst working I would unknowingly move my two fingers on the mouse a little and the screen moved. Not knowing it was my fingers I would leave them there and be trying to click things, then eventually I would let the mouse go and the screen moves back. But had no idea it was my fingers at the time!
It happens often, so guess I better disable the swiping to move spaces.

[SOLVED] Thunar 1.6 doesn't drag-and-drop with the right mouse button
Hallo all.
It might be something I've done (though I did delete my ~/.config/Thunar directory before upgrading), but Thunar doesn't let me drag-and-drop with the right mouse button, thus stopping me from copying something instead of moving it, etc. Has anyone else had that too?

Come on! Read what GordonGR wrote!
Microsoft Windows, Nautilus, the Haiku Tracker, and probably many other file managers have a feature where, when you right-click or middle-click and drag an icon to a new location, a pop-up menu appears and asks what you'd like to do (Move, Copy, Link). I thought I used to use this feature in Thunar too but it seems to have stopped working in recent versions. Has anyone else had any experience with it?
EDIT: Here's random blogger talking about the feature in an older version of Thunar: http://jeromeg.blog.free.fr/index.php?p … and-tricks So that's good, I wasn't just imagining the feature.

This also happened in Windows XP which I was using until recently.
The Yahoo mail menu is there but the Firefox menu is on top of it. I tried Firefox safe mode with everything disabled and the problem still happened. I tried Yahoo mail in IE 9 and the right mouse button works correctly. Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.<br /> -

Yes, I know that, but I ever work with the right mouse button,
because selecting groups and subgroups with double click make some confusion for me.

Using the right mouse button with JTables

I can not open the bookmarks tab or use the right mouse button in firefox
''locking this thread as duplicate, please continue at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1053467 /questions/1053467]''
I recently downloaded firefox to my new laptop. I can not open the bookmarks tab or use any of the right mouse button options.Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

Moving tabs from one window to another makes the new window vanish. I have hot corners enabled so when I move up to the right corner of my display I can see all my open windows but when I click on the tab that I moved to make it its own window it vanishes
I came up with an alternative solution.
Instead of actually trying to move the JInternalFrame from one JDesktopPane to another, I added a single, maximized JInternalFrame to the left side. When one of the right side frames is to be docked, I merely copy its ContentPane to the single JInternalFrame on the left, set the original to be non-visible, and adjust the properties of the JSplitPane to make the "docked" frame appear.
When the "close" button on the docked frame is pressed, I simply undo this procedure to "undock" the frame and redisplay it on the right-hand side (with its content intact from the docked frame, but in its original position). -
When importing from my camera or file in Lightroom 5 my pictures are over-exposed by 1-2 stops, while they are well exposed on the camera-screen. How to get the 'right-exposed pictures on the screen?
There is an option in your Lightroom preferences on the General tab, "Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separate images". If you have that option checked then Lightroom will import and display both your raw and JPEG files. Are you using active D-lighting on your camera? If you are then you need to turn off that feature.

The App Store screen is way off to the right so I can't access it. It has the little spinning wheel I can see when I swipe up to see what's open. It won't close. Should I try to force it? How much more time should I give it? I did just give Google some accessibily access that it asked for. Just upgraded to Maverick. I thought everything was fine. Says iPhoto needs a retry; but I can't get to the screen to try again. Pages also says it has an update; but also says it just updated.
Thank Carolyn,
I had tried that; but to restart it had to close, and to close it had to close the App Store, which was stuck. Finally did a force close. Am now trying to update iPhoto. We'll see if works this time. -
I am using an extension All-In-One Gestures. It works on my other installation of Firefox 4 - particularly, the right-click menu pops up if I click right mouse button and then release it so I can perform gesture or turn the wheel instead of getting a right click menu.
But on this installation (basically the same addons and OS), the right-click menu pops up on pushing down the right mouse button so the right-button+wheel gestures do not work, and the menu stays there while I am performing the gesture which is rather annoying.
So I though maybe there is some obscure configuration option to toggle to make right-click menu pop up after the button release? Or is this entirely the extension's fault? Note that it does work as expected on other installation...You have to enable in Firefox
-> Options -> Content -> Activate JavaScript (yes) -> More
-> Allow scripts the following actions
-> Inactivate or replace context menu (yes)
in order to allow All-in-one-Gesture to block the immediate appearance of the context menu.
If you forbid Firefox JavaScript and/or the manipulation of the context menu by use of JavaScript, All-in-one-Gesture cannot work properly. -
When I try to work in a second desktop, a program cannot be used if already open in the first desktop. The screen just moves back to the first desktop. Anybody else have this issue?
Whether or not this behavior occurs depends upon various preference settings and upon how you try to access the application in question. Personally, I like to organize my desktops according to project, so I regularly have windows from the same application spread out over several desktops. No problem.
For example, I have a Safari window in Desktop 1 and I want a Safari window in desktop 2. If, while in desktop 2, I bring Safari to the front by clicking on the Dock icon, I can open a new window in the usual ways. I could also just control-click on the Safari icon in the dock to get a new window in desktop 2.
(The only application that is a little weird in this regard is Finder. You have to do the control-click on it or it will always switch to a space with a window open.)
To make all this occur, I have Safari assigned to no desktops (control-click on Safari icon, then on Options) and in Mission Control preferences (in System Preferences) I have "When switching to an application..." UNchecked.
(Note that, with these settings, if an application is already in front and you click on its icon - or click twice on the icon if the applcation is not in front - the OS will assume you are looking for another open window and will switch spaces to give you one.)
Hope this helps.

Sometimes fails to load the right codec (or chipset) for audio
Sometimes fails to load the right sound codec (or chipset) for at boot, I think that it's same issue with alsa and OSS.
At boot time (toshiba u300) alsa (or kernel maybe) fails to load sound.
When it works this is loaded:

I've followed this topics without luck.

My next step is go into kernel but I think it's better to ask here first.
I have to say that before Arch it had installed Ubuntu 10.04 with OSS (problems with keyboard sound keys with alsa), lately before change to Arch I must to restart sound system before it works frequently with this procedure; «soundoff», then «soundon» absolutly freezes the laptop so I had to turn off it and turn on again, then «rm /usr/lib/oss/starting», and last «soundon», then it sometimes works.
Now my only way to have sound is to restart the system time and time again until it works.
Thanks for your advices.

Blacklisting [https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … acklisting]
Blacklisting, in the context of kernel modules, is a mechanism to prevent the kernel module from loading. This could be useful if, for example, the associated hardware is not needed, or if loading that module causes problems: for instance there may be two kernel modules that try to control the same piece of hardware, and loading them together would result in a conflict.
Some modules are loaded as part of the initramfs. mkinitcpio -M will print out all autodetected modules: to prevent the initramfs from loading some of those modules, blacklist them in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf. Running mkinitcpio -v will list all modules pulled in by the various hooks (e.g. filesystem hook, SCSI hook, etc.). Remember to add that .conf file to the FILES section in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf (if you have not done so already) and rebuild the initramfs once you have blacklisted the modules, and to reboot afterwards.

I suggest that you take the MBP into an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation. There are liquid sensors inside and they should check if any have been activated. This may give you a clue as to what you may expect regarding future reliability.
