I grasp that after doing an recovery you are stuck on the command prompt screen.
I suggest you do a hard reset. Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset.
If this has not helped and you would like further assistance, would you please provide your exact model of HP notebook and the Operating System you are running. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Any additional details would also be useful.

I tunes tries to update over and over again to 10.2.2.  Each time it fails and lists  message"Service 'ipad service'could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privelege to install system services."
I have an iphone and use itunes to update it. I do not have an ipad if that is an issue.  Is this problem related to apple, or to Windows vista?  I am system administrator on Windows 7 so the problem must be related to apple. I would appreciate a clue as to what I need to do. Or are there sufficient problems with 10.2.2 that I should be happy it will not update? This problem is getting beyond annoying since i have work to do other than cater to apple itunes.

I would say it is Windows.
Which are you using btw, Vista or 7?
And did you download the 64-bit version if that is what you run?
There were a lot of tips to troubleshoot (never needed to in 4 yrs though knock on wood).

My computer is stuck on the "Starting Windows" screen.  I can't get it to boot up.  What do I do?

try tapping f8 as it powers up and see if you can get into safe mode. When presented with this problem I usually boot the laptop from a technician's disk and run a preboot environment version of Windows, then do a chkdsk; /r on the primary hard drive. 60-70% of the time that fixes it.  You can also run the chkdsk: /r from safe mode if you can get there.

  • Determine if user is a windows system administrator

Yes, I understand the goal of Swing is WORA, but I have a very specific challenge...and if I can't meet it, this application will be written in .Net rather than Java.
The challenge: The application needs to know whether the current system user is a Windows system admin (i.e, assigned to the Administrators group) and, if not, hide certain functions. I have considered writing a file to a location and checking for an error, but that's not always reliable...depending on system policies. I am wide open for good ideas. :)
    Thanks.

    >
..The application needs to know whether the current system user is a Windows system admin (i.e, assigned to the Administrators group) and, if not, hide certain functions. >When constructing the GUI..
    try {
      //  certain functions
    } catch(Throwable t) {
      //  hide certain functions
...Or to put that another way, "The application needs to know whether the current run-time environment offers the functionality that relates to the app.". That is a different thing to knowing whether "the current system user is a Windows system admin".

  • Windows System Configuration in Solaris 8 x86

    Hi
I am doing the Solaris 8 Web Jumpstart Installation wherein it configures for Display. While configuring the display whatever resolution I mention it will not show the image and eventually it will not configure the Windows System and hence the Open windows will not be displayed. The screen goes blank when Open Windows starts and I am forced to install the Solaris software through command prompt.
    The hardware description :
    PC : HP Brio
    Pentium III MMX 650MHz.
    Video Adaptor : Matrox G200 8MB.
Please help me in this regard since I checked the Hardware Compatibility List in which I meet the hardware requirements.
    Thanks

I can't help you either. But I have the same problems. Running a Matrox MGA G200 with Panel Link (Digital Flat Panel). Doesn't work with Linux, doesn't work with Solaris 8. I am configuring over and over. But after continuing with F2 in kdmconfig monitor goes into power save. That's it. Any suggestions from forum members ?
    Thanx.

  • Permissions Screen Stuck in Middle of Video

Using Internet explorer on Windows System 7 with Adobe Flash 15.0.0.189
The player will start. I can see the video - I can hear the sound - but - this little screen about adobe flash Player Settings is stuck in the middle of the screen. There is no effect when I click on "Allow" or "Deny".
Essentially flash works but I want to get rid of this permissions screen that is smack dab in the middle!
I can right click on this annoying screen and get some information (that I cant screen capture but allows me to click on "Settings"
and the screen in the middle of the video changes to the following:
But - once again I can not click on any of its options.
OR - The information that comes up when I right click gives me the option to click on "Global Settings"
    Which brings up this screen:
I click on Allow and the following comes up:
I've played with some of the settings in this but don't understand them and am reluctant to change anything - afraid to cause more problems.
Can you help resolve this issue?
    Thanks

Randomly, out of the blue there is the volume button stuck in the middle of the screen. However when i gently tap the phone on my hand, or push the button up or down, it disappears for a bit. but once the phone is locked, and unlocked again it comes up? Also, now when i'm on the phone i can hear this crackly sound in the background. Nothing has changed to my phone whatsoever. I tried the tips that you gave above, and still nothing has changed? the volume symbol still appears when it feels like it, and the crackling continues...
    Please help?

  • Blank Screen with cursor after login Windows 7, Unable to start new tasks

My problem is similar to the well know Windows 7 Black Screen as referenced by Prevx, though different. When I boot my Windows 7 computer, the login screen appears as always. Following entering the password for default user,
the screen will give the impression of login, but the final result is a plain black screen with the cursor only. The black screen appears indefinitely and the Windows GUI never appears. The only available option from booting in normal mode with this is Ctrl-Alt-Del
(Task Manager). From analyzing another computer with Windows 7 Professional, my Task Manager is missing the following user processes: dwm.exe, explorer.exe, and taskhost.exe. Additionally, it is missing the following system processes (possibly irrelevant):
    spoolsv.exe and wmiprvse.exe.
When I attempt to start a new process using Windows Task Manager, an error message will appear saying “Windows Task Manager has stopped working” and forces you to close Windows Task Manager. This includes starting
any process such as cmd or explorer.
I attempted to boot into safe mode.
The result was the same as above. Then I attempted booting into safe mode with command prompt. This showed some hope. Following authentification from the login screen, the command prompt appears with the same blank screen with a cursor behind it. Initially
I attempted to run msconfig.msc to run a clean startup. System Configuration Utilities opens briefly then displays the error same as above. “System Configuration Utility has stopped working” and again forces the program to close. Then I tried to
open regedit. This works with no error messages! So I have access to the registry, but have no idea what I should modify to get my computer running normally.
    Things I have tried:
    1)
Restoring to last know good configuration. (No result)
    2)
    Repairing Windows configuration. (No result)
    3)
Scanning the drive 3 separate times for viruses with both Avast and Symantec. (No viruses detected)
    4)
Repairing the REG_SZ value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell as proposed in
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/5b94b775-992e-4f48-b3ff-c89b3cf45e82
    5)
Executing Prevx’s fix file as proposed in
    http://www.prevx.com/blog/140/Black-Screen-woes-could-affect-millions-on-Windows--Vista-and-XP.html
    Any ideas are much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

  • "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap (Wdf01000.sys)" and a Blue Screen appearing frequently on my Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop and laptop restarting all of a sudden.

Hi I am Arka Dey. I am using a
Windows 8.1 64-bit single language Dell laptop. Recently I have installed an update to my Windows 8.1 (X-64) operating system from the "Windows Update" available in the "Control Panel" section of my laptop.
But from that very day when I installed the updates, my laptop started behaving weird sometimes.
The problem is while I am using my laptop, a

After displaying this for a few seconds in the blue screen mode, my

    Hi roberto-
Yes, its a shame. I have also contacted lenovo support hoping that they can sort out this problem. However, first response from them was 'contact your internet service provider since internet connectivity goes down'! :-/ I am hoping I have been able to get through to them now at least about where the problem lies. I wonder if anyone has tried using the laptop with the same broadcom wireless adapter with some other version of OS (linux, windows 7 etc.) and whether they still face the same problem. I haven't tried that yet. If this is just an OS / driver issue I hope someone somewhere is working on a fix! If not, I guess the only other solution would be to get an external USB wifi adapter but that is not something one would want to do when you buy a brand new Lenovo laptop. This was a big let down for me.

Simple your XP installation disk is outdated and cause troubles with latest hardware.

    EDIT: RESOLVED
For anyone else who finds their way here like I did, this link did it for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/527599/windows-8-issues-solved-please-r ead-if-you-39-re-having-black-screen-and-or-flickering-/
Specifically, the posts by Dunsany and valkyr did the trick.  I booted in safe mode, uninstalled and deleted the Nvidia driver, disabled automatic driver installation, and restarted normally.  I then manually downloaded and installed the previous Nvidia driver for my graphics card (which at the time of this writing was 335.23, rather than the latest which was 337.88), and everything is now bueno!
Two hiccoughs along the way: First, when I tried to uninstall the Nvidia driver the first time, when I restarted I got the login screen (which was a good sign), but it quickly went black again.  I powered down, restarted in safe mode again, and repeated the uninstallation process, and it worked the second time.  Second, when I started the manual install of the 335.23 driver, the computer played a sound similar to the one for disconnecting a USB device, and the screen went black.  I'd seen a lot about trying to increase the brightness (though it hadn't worked up to this point; but if you haven't tried it yet, might as well); I tried it, and it worked! So far I'm back up and running. [/fingers crossed]
    Hope this helps someone else!

    Hi Hari,
    not yet.
I am sending for QAS the configuration with the Search help KRED_C, and lets see what happens.
What I think is that there is some EXIT implementation in one of the underlying Search Helps of the KRED, once it is a Collective Search Help.
As I found in the SDN, "Search help exits containing dynpro-specific functions, for example, CALL SCREEN, are not supported.".
