Screen Tips within RoboHelp 7

I am still a new user with RoboHelp 7 and I am trying to configure screen tips.
Now I am able to access a section of a project and doubleclick on the images to assign a screen tip to them and it shows up when I preview.
What I would like is a way to apply a screen tip that a specific image, so that when it is used anywhere else within the project that it shows the same screen tip.
IE - like a save button image with a screen tip of Save

Hi again
You will likely find that in order to do that you will have to perform a copy and paste of an image containing the screen tip already configured. You might create one or more topics that have the images with the screen tips, then have those topics conveniently located in the Project Manager so it's easy to find and open them when you need to. Then copy the desired image(s) and paste into the relevant topics.
Other than that, you could perform a massive Find and Replace operation to populate the screen tips.
Further, note that screen tips don't work in Firefox. At least they don't for me.
Cheers... Rick

  • RoboHelp HTML v7to9 Migrate issue, Screen Tip field in images' properties w/DHTML Drop-down hotspot

Hey all, thanks in advance for any info you can provide.  All the RoboHelp references below relate to us using the respective version of RoboHelp HTML, and on my XP SP3 pc.
For various reasons, we tried migrating our data from RoboHelp v7 directly to RoboHelp v9, but noticed this same issue also occurred when we tried to migrate our data from RoboHelp v7 to RoboHelp v8, as this was one of the reasons we did not use RoboHelp v8 as our production "version".
I noticed that RoboHelp v9 (and RoboHelp v8) will not populate the "Screen tip:" area/field of the image's properties window with the existing Screen tip text, even though it is in the html code of the page and when viewing the page within RoboHelp (Ctrl-W) or through a browser like IE6 or IE8, the Screen tip text will display when hovering the mouse over the picture.  Only the RoboHelp v7 will properly display the text info in the Screen tip area.
Please note, we have most of our images inserted in a DHTML Drop-down hotspot and use buttons associated with a java script to "Show All Images" (or "Hide All Images") and these examples are the ones that the "Screen Tip:" field in the image's properties did not populate in RoboHelp v9.
Is there any easy way to get the ALT text to appear in the actual "Screen tip:" area/field of the image's properties window in RoboHelp v9, or must they be manually entered?  Otherwise, currently it shows up as all blank, as though we neglected to fill it in.  Is there an actual fix for this?  Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Create a one topic project. See the Contact page on my site and send the project as instructed there. Do make sure you include a link to this thread and please do not email the project direct.
I will open the project in Rh10 and generate webhelp.

  • Need help with Responsive HTML5 screen layout in RoboHelp HTML 11

I have a few questions/issues regarding screen layouts for Responsive HTML5 output in RoboHelp HTML 11.
First off, I decided to just use the Theme1_Standard layout that came with the program (only other default option was Theme2_Government) and started customizing the layout. I originally added a company logo to the 'Header' component in the Customization dialog, but have since decided to remove it. I can't seem to do this from the dialog, so I tried just deleting the image file from the whole project. The file is gone, but the logo is still there. This is only displayed in the header when a topic is displayed, it does not appear in the header at the TOC, Index, Search screen, etc. How do I get rid of this???
Secondly, the text in the header for the topic screens appears differently than the one on the screens for the TOC, Index, Search, etc. In the former of these, the header is displayed in maroon text in a much smaller font, similar to that used in the topics. In the latter, the topic is displayed based on what I configured in the Layout Customization dialog; much larger in white text on a black background. In each case the heading text serves as a link to the default display topic shown when the help file is launched, which is fine. However, how do I get the header to be consistent across all screens (topics and TOC, Index, etc. alike)???
As a result of these issues with the Theme1_Standard layout, I'm trying to import a different Responsive HTML5 screen layout than the two provided within RoboHelp HTML 11 (Standard and Government). I did some digging in the program help and found another layout I'd like to use (Theme3_Black.zip) at RoboHelp screen profiles and layouts. I tried importing the new layout, but it's looking for a .SLZ file and the only one in the files that came with the ZIP file is SLZConfig.xml, and I don't think that's what I need, though quite honestly, I don't know.
I extracted the contents of the ZIP folder to a folder in the !ScreenLayout! folder within the RoboHelp project, but when I open the project, I don't see Theme3_Black as an option. I need to figure out how to import this screen layout because the color scheme matches the one used in the program for which I am writing the help. How do I import and apply this other screen layout???
Any tips, tricks, or guidance on any or all of these items would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks much in advance,
    Dave

Item two of the original post is also something I am having issues with:
"Secondly, the text in the header for the topic screens appears differently than the one on the screens for the TOC, Index, Search, etc. In the former of these, the header is displayed in maroon text in a much smaller font, similar to that used in the topics. In the latter, the topic is displayed based on what I configured in the Layout Customization dialog; much larger in white text on a black background. However, how do I get the header to be consistent across all screens (topics and TOC, Index, etc. alike)???"
We have the text toggle between red, white and blue depending upon the topic selected. In the customize Selected Layout we have the title color set to white. It seems to think that it is a link and I would like to know how I can force the text to be white and to stay that way no matter which topic is selected.

  • Can Screen Tips be output as Alt Text from RH HTML to Word 2007?

I have a large documentation project that is single-sourced in RH HTML to create WebHelp and printed documentation. My expectation is that if I put screen tips in the image properties, these will be converted to alternate text both in WebHelp and printed documentation. WebHelp is fine. I output to Word 2007 because document cleanup is always required. In my Word file, the screen tip is gone, replaced with the document file path. When converted to PDF, that's what appears as alternate text. Is there any way to get this done short of entering the text twice (in RH HTML and again the Word doc)?

When they upgrade you, RoboHelp will have to be reinstalled and that may fix the problem. You are creating the link using the Rh menu rather Word's menus?

Your link has an extra http:// in it. When I went to it, there is a sign in page that I generally will not use. Sorry, I have not seen the file as a result.
As I understand your post, you are using the MS plugin for PDF conversion since you only have AA7 and need the links that are not available by printing to the Adobe PDF printer (assuming you got that to work in VISTA). You are then trying to open the file in Adobe (not Acrobat) Reader 9 and the hyperlinks fail. However, the hyperlinks work in AA7. Hopefully that is a correct statement of your problem.
Are you sure you have the hyperlinks embedded, or just an appearance of hyperlinks. Acrobat and Reader will try to recognize apparent links and use them if they do. If you have the links embedded, then there should be no problem. I suspect that the links are not embedded.

To retain the links, you have to use PDF Maker to create the PDF. PDF is typically shown as "create PDF" in OFFICE products with the current Acrobat. It may be under an Adobe menu item in your OFFICE product. If you print to the Adobe PDF printer (basically a ps printer), then distiller should be started automatically to complete the PDF. However, printing to the Adobe PDF printer or any other PS printer, does not preserve the hyperlinks. Prior to AA9, the links were added by the PDF Maker preprocessor to add PDF Marks to the PS file prior to starting distiller. I am not sure how it is done in AA9, but the same idea of the end result is there. The PDF Marks contained the information needed for the links.

  • Losing screen tips in pdf

    Hello,
I've created a pdf from a Word doc. In the Word doc I created bookmarks. When I create the hyperlink I added Screen Tip text and then selected the bookmark. After I convert the pdf, the link works fine, but the screen tip is missing. any help on this?
    Thanks,

The Screen Tips feature is unique to Word and does not carry over into the PDF.

  • Screen tips in images without links

I would like to create an image map, but instead of hot links

  • Opening screen tips.

When I first opened Photoshop 10 there was a screen with quick tips on it.  I inadvertently clicked so it would not be seen.  How do I open it again?

Help --> Show start screen/ tip of the day, I would assume (not using Elements products, but that's how it is in otehr products).

  • Screen Tips - Display Time

    Hi there
In addition to what Colum offered, you may be interested in

    OverLib page
Unlike Colum, I've never considered the duration to be
controlled by the application. I suppose it's entirely possible.
I've always figured it was just a built in function of the

  • Integrating database Permissions within Robohelp

    Edition
    RoboHelp HTML
    Version
    RoboHelp 10.
    Problem:
We are designing the web help for our project. Our requirement is each help page is permission driven. This permission are stored in our SQL Server database. How could we plug-in our server side .NET code within Robohelp so that before displaying any page RpboHelp checks for permission and if successful, it displays the help page to the user. Will I able to acheive this with RoboHelp ?
Our second requirement is our help should be localized in 13 languages. I have checked the Robohelp documentation and it supports this 13 languages. I would like to design a single help page in 13 langugages. I DO NOT want to create 13 seperate files for 13 languages. How do I go about it ?
    - Natrajan

Your first requirement can not be met in RoboHelp. This would have to be done programmatically.
Your second requirement can be met in RoboHelp. There is a couple of good articles on the required strategy at:

  • When I open an ap or a safari page the screen tips upside down.  The screen doesn't automatically move to fit the direction the ipad is sitting

I have an I-pad retina.  Starting yesterday I noticed when playing a podcast video I could only view it with the screen in rectangular mode instead of the horizontal.  Starting today when I open an app or a page in Safari the screen tips upside down.  In other words, it doesn't follow the direction in which I'm looking at the screen, I'm constantly having to make the adjustment myself.  How can this be fixed?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
