Screen too small

Don't know what I did, but the area I can use in my 15" MacBook Pro has shrunk.  The area I can use is in the upper left, below and to the right it is just multi-colored pixels.  I cannot seem to expand it.

Krizpix what is the screen resolution of your current screen?  Also which operating system are you using?

  • Is 3.5" screen too small?

I love these new displays and all, but I'm starting to think 3.5" is just too small. It's a very introverted experience. I'm using a Dell Streak now with a 5 inch screen, it's about the same thickness as the Iphone4, but with a much bigger screen. I was planing to have both Iphone and an Android phone, but there's no getting around this small screen problem now that I've tried something bigger. will Apple ever develop a larger screen? Even 4 inches like the EVO is better.
Please no Android vs. Apple debate, I'm wondering if 3.5" will be extinct soon and Apple will ever come out with a 4 or 5 inch phone. They've already achieved the highest resolution needed so the only way to improve now would be to make the screen bigger, right?

I had a 3GS and I loved it but I upgraded to the HTC HD2 after 6 months just for the larger 4.3" screen and gave my 3GS to my mum, can't get her off it
I mostly use my phones for sat nav use so the large screen is amazing.
It's much thinner than the 3GS and very quick and not that much bigger than the 3GS because HTC made the screen corner to corner unlike the massive bezel on the iPhones.
I never found the size to be a problem and fits into my pockets just fine, can even just about use it one handed.
Have owned it for about 6 months and love it, very clear and crisp screen but I do miss my 100 iPhone apps, many that I paid for.
I do have an iPhone 4 32gb on the way to replace my HTC HD2 once Apple decide to ship it, should be here around the 14th July, hopefully much sooner.
Can't wait to play with it, amazes me that they squeezed all the technology into something even thinner than my already very thin HD2
Will really miss the 4.3" screen though, shame Apple didn't use a 3.7" screen at least. For me 4" and 4.3" is the sweet spot.

there is a wide black border around the screen, obstructing the wifi, time and battery at the top. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but it wasn't like this always...?

I tried tapping/typing on the iPad, the keys are too small and too close together for me to be comfortably typing on it. I need it to be bigger, and I figure that if the screen can be at 15" then the keys can be the same size as what I have on my MBP, spaced out about the same.
Not quite like an iPad, but you can get a 27" iMac with a touch screen:

  • Resolution Problems after Leopard Install....MacBook screen too small?!

Everything from Safari, Firefox, iTunes, Pages have been affected. After installing Leopard it seems that my Macbook's 13 inch screen is too small instead of it automatically formatting the information. Even my Dashboard after installing Leopard had to be cleaned up because the previous Widgets were covering the entire screen. I'm including a link to a picture of "Creating a new Pages document from the Template chooser" to show you what I mean. Do I really have to reinstall Leopard to fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the default settings for labels and text in Finder windows, if that's what you mean, is 12 point. You you can change font size through View Options. Text sizes for menus, etc. is fixed; I don't know what the size is specifically. For Firefox, text size for web pages is specified by the web site generally, but you can change the size Firefox will default to in the Firefox Content preferences.
I hope I've answered the question you were asking. Regards.

  • Itunes screen too small

ok i just got a new ipod nano and i downloaded the new software. when i connect it and it shows up to say register your ipod its too small to see and i can't see it say register now just register later on the left side. what should i do?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Two options:
    1. Increase your computer's display resolution above 1024x768 (XGA) or
    2. Click the left hand pane scroll bar and drag to the left, shrinking it to the point where the Register button appears on the right.

  • MuVo N200 Screen Too Small To Re

    Hi,
I just bought the MuVo N200 (52MB using Win XPHome) and trying to figure it out. Now that I got the software up (w latest the firmware installed), I'm challenged by the tiny screen area.
Dunno if I'll rue this purchase therefore!
Getting out by sunlight or holding it under a bright light helps (The backlight goes off before I've begun to make things out). A magnifying glass helps a bit too.
How have others of you managed with this (I can't be the only one!)
    Thanks
    Chet

I would like a larger display, although that would probably mean that player needs to be larger. That would be okay though, since I also want the player to use a AA battery and have an AM and FM tuner. Having models with 52 meg, gig, and 2 gigs to start(with higher capacity models coming later as flash memory prices drop). I would also like to see a deluxe model with a much higher quality mic(so students can adequately record lectures given in large lecture halls, or businessmen could record meetings) and a high quality line in(then the mic and line in could be omitted on the standard model).

  • Myatt screen too small & doesn't auto-rotate

It's a smartphone app that isn't designed for a smartphone size screen. Please update your myatt app to allow it to auto-rotate, like web pages, for increased readability.

Considering the amount of money we all send AT&T for cell phones, cellular service and U-Verse service, I don't think it's too much to ask that their cell phone apps work properly with their cell phones or that their U-Verse DVRs should include the same frame advance and slow motion features as all of their competitors. (Even cheap VCR & DVD players include frame advance and slow motion.)

  • All of a sudden the screen on my iMac 10,1 is too small for the image. Can't figure out how to reduce the size of the Finder or any of the Apps.

All of a sudden the screen is too small for the image. Hard to explain, but in order to see the entire Finder window, I must scroll the image up/down, left/right.
It's not just the Finder though, all of the apps are affected this way too.
It's probably got something to do with the fact that I have an HDMI cable running from the Mac to a Vizio 42" TV. It's been running this way just fine for over two months though.
    Any ideas?

You probably accidently zoomed the screen.  Hold down CNTL while scrolling down with the mouse or trackpad to unzoom.  Cntl - scroll up to zoom.

  • Screen size in windows 8.1 - all icons too small! How do I enlarge the entire captivate 8 screen?

The entire Captivate 8 screen to too small. How do I enlarge the entire window? All icons and thumbnails are 1/4 the size they should be. Using Windows 8.1.

It looks like it is an issue between Adobe and Microsoft. (Many Adobe programs are responding this way to Windows 8 and 8.1)
I am posting this to try and get some (ANY) ideas/feedback...but to also bring it to the Captivate Community attention. I hope the Captivate Staff is aware of this issue.

there are many many more out there......
I tried this first, it comes with Windows and changes your display properties by application: (but it didn't work)
The program above basicly edits these settings (you can get to these by right clicking on the exe application) I tried many combos, an even tried them under the "change for all users" setting.....NADA!
I have tried editing the Windows display settings: (all screen shots below are with this setting size)
The screenshot below is at 250%. It does not make any difference in the application (check out the menu bar, properties, icons....) If I go over 150% I lose dialog box space...the buttons disappear! If I keep it at 150% the words "Advanced Actions" at the top of the dialog box shrinks slightly, enough to fit the buttons in...) I showed the difference using snag it (12 pt arial compared to the appearance of the UI ~ 4 pt.) This is so hard to see! Same issue in some of the other adobe applications. (fyi...they are all up to date)
    Photoshop = same problem
    Dreamweaver = working fine
    Flash = working fine
Premier Pro = half working....(menubar is ok but everything else is real small)
    Muse = not working
Adobe Edge Code = Working fine
OOF! Well, any thoughts anyone? I appreciate any and al feedback and ideas!!!

  • Photoshop Font Sizes too Small on High Resolution Screen

On my Toshiba Satellite P55T 4K the Photoshop fonts and tool menus are so small that they are very difficult to read.  I have set the UI fonts to the largest size, but they are still way too small. Is there a way to further increase the font and tool menu sizes?

You must have a very high resolution screen, also called HiDpi.
If you have Photoshop CC 2014, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Experimental Features and checkmark "Scale UI 200%"
If you have CC, CS6, or below, there is no way to scale the UI as of yet. There may not be. These products are no longer being updated.
At best I can recommend reducing the resolution down to around 1400 px horizontal. That's not the native resolution and defeats the purpose of having a Hidpi screen.
So only thing left aside from returning the laptop, is to work with a large external monitor, or for $10/monthly, join the Photography Plan and you can use CC 2014 and the 200% UI.

  • 100% zoom is too small on screen

Hello, I'm using photoshop CC on amacbook pro retina. I mainly use photoshop for web design and when I open a document that is 300x200 px, the 100% view is too small on screen. Any ideas, It was this way on PS cs6 also before I upgraded. I just tried to delete the prefs file and restarted PS and it did not change. I have also tried to change my screen resolution to "best for retina" and it is still the same.
    Steve

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be condescending.  But the problem is you've paid extra for something that's actually an improvement, but now you don't want it to work any differently than what you had before.
You don't appear to understand how images and displays actually work.  I'll try to provide an explanation...
Images are made out of pixels.  Little squares of one and only one color each that when stacked in rows and columns together make up what we call an image.
Your display has the ability to display little lighted squares of one and only one color each (it's really a bit more complicated than this, but I'm trying to keep it simple).  Stacked in rows and columns these tiny display sites make up your display screen.  Before the Retina display, every square inch had roughly 100 x 100 of these display sites.  Now (assuming a 15" Macbook Retina display) you have 220 x 220 of them in every square inch.
In order to fit so many more in a square inch they have to be much smaller.  With me so far?  Each tiny display site is 1/220 of an inch on a side, by definition.
When Photoshop displays an image, it sizes it per your guidance - you set the Zoom factor.
100% zoom - by definition - means that one pixel from an image will occupy one display site on the screen.
Can you now see how, since the display sites are much smaller on a Mac retina display, an image displayed at 100% will appear smaller?
Now here's where some additional magic comes in:  The folks who programmed your operating system and browser realized that you would probably not like to see everything less than half the size it was, so they automatically use 200% (or more) zoom behind the scenes so that the pictures and stuff on web pages and application controls are displayed nice and big.  This happens with older non-retina applications automatically as well - it's called pixel doubling.
    To directly answer your question:
Set an appropriate zoom level in Photoshop to make the image as large as you'd like to see it and you will be fine.
It may help you to feel better to think, when you see the sharp edges of the pixels at zoomed-in sizes, that you have a display that's got such high resolution and is so accurate that you can see the edges of the actual pixels, while all the folks who don't have Retina displays are just seeing them blurred together.
