Screen turns bluish on shutdown Asus ee pc running through an Aspire 5670 monitor

I know this is a bit of an odd one but I hope that maybe someone can help me!
I'm running photoshop on my Asus eee pc but I have it running on an Acer Aspire 5670 monitor (bigger screen makes it easier for my retouching work!) and whenever I shutdown photoshop my screen gets a little bit bluer.
I can fix it by doing a recalibration but it's still kinda annoying because I don't always remember to do it and I'm sure you can understand that trying to get skin tones right when your screen is blue can be an utter nightmare.
Please let me know what other information you might need to help.
Thankyou!

John - when you say that I may have been talking to call centre drongos, you're probably right. I'll go back and make sure I get a recording next time. I wouldn't mind but apparently I was speaking to the head of the department. I didn't take any names so I guess that was my fault.
I've re-read my email and as much as it seemed like I'd taken out all the emotion at the time, coming back and looking again I can see that it's still very obvious I'm fairly upset about all this.
Sorry, It's just that so far I've spent 6 hours on the phone, which is about 24 photos retouched (a decent bit of money when I can do it properly). Now it looks like I'm going to have to be on hold for another few hours tomorrow. I'm frustrated and I'm lashing out where I shouldn't. Sorry again. I've turned in a couple of pieces that looked fine on my (bluish) monitor but looked horrible when I was being shown why I'm getting less work now.
My main client pays for me to get a recalibration every 6 months but I'm finding I need one every few weeks. If I wasn't friends with someone that recalibrates monitors for a living I'd have to pay $100 a pop. I'm getting one every couple of weeks at the moment and I'm at the point of tearing my hair out here.
I'm saying this more so that you can understand where I'm coming from here rather than as some sort of justification of my earlier post. I know that I shouldn't be rude to people that are trying to help me and again, I'm sorry.
In terms of "another potential source of error" though, I should point out that I only came here as a last resort - I don't get this problem when I run any other applications on either laptop. I have spent a lot of time on the phone to both asus and acer over the last few months. I was a bit quick to point the finger but I've spent a lot of time ruling out other options.
I recognise that by saying it's your code's problem I'm almost saying that your baby is ugly and I really shouldn't have gone so far earlier. Honestly though, if you could at least give me some ammunition when I call the other various hardware support places I would be eternally grateful.
Wolf - As mentioned, I have a friend that can recalibrate my monitor for free. It's getting to the point where I'm being really demanding and he just keeps giving out of the goodness of his heart. I appreciate that that's what you guys are doing also and I hope people haven't been put off my the harshness of my earlier message. I'm just really really frustrated by all of this.

Hello I just found a problem with my Ipod nano 6th generation. It worked fine an hour ago but then the screen turned a dark grey. Did the restore through Itunes and then it went white. Hi clarity,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You may want to first try removing and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes by following the steps in this article:

My macbook pro (10.6.8 version) the screen turns blue, can not operate, forced shutdown, I installed the windows 7 Home Basic version.

To fix your issue is too complicated and lengthy to go into all of it here, it will require the services of person very familiar and experienced with Mac's to first recover your data and then restore OS X back to a functional state, then hopefully achieve the goals you were attempting.
I advise you hire the services of a local Mac computer support technician experienced in these matters.
Have them look at your Wifi and computer backup proceedures in the process.
    Good Luck.

  • When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login. What should I do?

I was having some problems with my mac, safari and itunes was freezing alot. I have to force shutdown and when I tried to start up again i get to the login page, type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue for a few seconds and it goes back to the log in screen. What should I do?
    Please Help!!

    Somewhat similar problem:
Put in the password, hit enter, the screen goes blue for half a second, then goes back to login screen and carries on logging in as usual.  Drives me mad.  It doesn't happen with a fresh Lion installation, nor if booted into safe mode.  On the machine in question it also happens to new user accounts.
I've removed all login items, including Startup Items and Launch Demons (pun intended) and Agents, I've compared system login plists with a fresh Lion installation - can't see differences.  I've removed Little Snitch and PeerGuardian (no more third party kexts).
@Carolyn: I've done disk maintenance with DiskUtility and fsck and even DiskWarrior, cleaned caches, etc. etc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Sorry for trying to hijack the thread (as it's not about Lion), but it seemed dead anyway.

  • Screen turns black suddenly, then re-emerges within a second

    Hi,
here's a new strange issue with my new Asus Eee PC: Recently, and perhaps it's because some updated packages, the screen turns black totally without warning, and shows up again as if nothing has happened. That is, no matter what I currently do, at any time the screen turns completely black (not even dark or something like that) for just a second, and appears again simply. Nothing strange can be noticed, my session just continues as if this didn't happen.
I haven't had any success finding the triggers for that behaviour, it seems so accidentally ... be it browsing the web, right after session startup and everything else. What I've noticed though is that it happens only a single time within a session and both on battery and on power.
Graphic chip is an Intel Mobile 945 GME, and I'll add my xorg.conf as soon as I can. Strangely, there is no note in Xorg.0.log either.
What I'm currently doing now is checking whether this also happens in a GNOME session. Sounds strange, but the first time I've noticed this behaviour is with Openbox, and the last days I was using only Openbox. Still I don't know whether Openbox might cause this problem.
I'd be very glad if someone could give me some hints on tracking down this issue. Perhaps this also happens at someone else's machine.
    Gratefully,
    Leye

Good to know that there are other people with the same issue as well. As long as I use Openbox, I've deactivated gnome-power-manager, though I hope this will go away with new updates. In the meantime, deactivating gnome-power-manager is o.k.
I don't know though what you should do if you rely on the whole GNOME desktop.

  • Screen turns blank all it sudden...

I installed SL on a MBP all went normal, but now all it sudden the screen turns black. All I can do is to push the power on/off button till it reboots.
All works fine and then all it sudden I loose the screen again.
I was on skype with a friend while it happened, sound and everything else was still going fine, only the screen turned black (actually very dark gray).
This happens since I installed SL, it does get a little better (had waaay more blank outs shortly after the install) but I normally don't get more then maybe 30 minutes out of the laptop before I have to restart it again.
    Any ideas? Any help?
    Sure appreciated.
    Thanks

I had a similar experience this weekend. First road trip with my MBP converted to SL. I normally get the "you are running on reserve power" notification when I'm running low, but when watching movies on the flight out and back, the computer spontaneously went black - I thought it had shut down out of power. But both times when I later turned it back on I had more than 25% power still remaining. I was thinking it was some kind of problem between the DVD player app and low power notification, but after reading this I am wondering if the screen simply went black as is being described. Unfortunately I did not even try to reboot it after it went dead, assuming it was simply out of power.
Picking up the 'book and putting it back in my briefcase it did not feel overly or unusually warm. On the way out I was running with an external drive connected to the 'book and on the way back I was watching a DVD ... so the only interesting symptom was that in both cases power usage was a little more (or at least different) than normal (I usually watch movies right from the hard drive). The worst thing is that the spontaneous shutdown on the way out seemed to have killed my little external drive - I mean dead. Can't even find it at all in Disk Utility - pretty weird, but that smacks of some kind of power event as well.

  • Extended white screen on startup and shutdown?

When I startup, I receive the gray screen with the apple logo and spinning wheel, then the screen turns white and sits for 30-45 seconds before showing me my desktop.  When I shutdown, it pretty much does the same thing.  What could be wrong?  My system still works, but I am concerned about the delays. The issue existed before I upgraded to Lion and still exists.

No solution, I'm afraid, but just to say I seem to have the same problem.
Since installation of Mountain Lion, my iMac no longer starts up properly. It tends (not always, strangely, but about 75% of the time) to stop after a few seconds and leave me with a black screen filled with white text. I believe this is verbose mode or some such. I googled, which led me here and elsewhere, and I phoned AppleCare. Answers were little beyond a PRAM reset. Nothing worked.
My iMac had to go off to repair for a separate incident anyway, so I asked them to look into this too. (The separate incident was truly separate. A faulty optical drive. It turned out Apple had neglected to connect it after dealing with another, serious hardware fault before I'd installed Mountain Lion.) Apple told me that, with regard to the startup problem, there was nothing they could do, loads of people had the same problem and fingers crossed a software update would come along at some point to fix it.
My iMac has to go back again anyway, so I might as well ask them to look into the Mountain Lion issue again, just in the hope they again register the problem and that that might help a fix actually turn up one day. (Apple evidently damaged my iMac taking it apart to deal with the optical drive. It now has white glowing spots and a one-inch streak emanating from behind the screen.) Mountain Lion just seems in line with the evermore nightmarish Apple "experience". I shouldn't have bothered, of course.
(My iMac is 2.5 years old, and I skipped Lion and upgraded from Snow Leopard.)

    >> It is customary and in this case Necessary for you to provide the exact model of Notebook you have a problem-with. [ There are MANY variations of HP Pavilion 15-T Models, for example. ]
    >> You should always be sure you have installed/applied ALL updates for all of your Notebook's hardware devices, and ALL Windows Updates labeled "Important" and ALL "Optional"-section Windows Updates for any hardware device in your Notebook which the Windows Updates service detects (and offers an Update for).
    >> For example, this link:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=6787... has the latest HP Drivers and Patches for a specific variant of the Pavilion 15-T.
    >> AFTER you are certain you have all the latest drivers and patches in-place, you can try the 'old Trick' as follows: Shutdown Windows; when your Notebook has turned-Off completely (after Shutdown completes), THEN remove the AC Adapter connector and remove the BatteryPack.
    >> Hold DOWN the power-button continuously for a full 62 seconds. Then put your BatteryPack back in your Notebook. Do NOT connect your AC Adapter yet. Power-On the Notebook and Logon into Windows. Check the Control Panel\Power Options settings and find out the Charge Level of your BatteryPack. If it is below 25%, then (and only then) plug in your AC Adapter and connect it to your Notebook... and let the BatteryPack charge up "completely" to 98-100% Level. *Note: if your Adapter has a removable AC cord-connector, be certain that connection is 'tight'. <Do NOT stick your fingers or ANY object into any AC Adapter!> If you even think your AC Adapter is faulty, GET A NEW ONE! Damaging a $400-$800 Notebook PC is NOT worth it, versus the cost of a New Adapter.
    >> Use the built-in Help functions of your Notebook to find out how to DISABLE(!) "Hibernation", and eliminate that TROUBLE-CAUSING 'feature' of Windows PCs. When you have done so, always REStart Windows, to be certain the changes are applied. *Many changes and Updates take place 'Fully' only "during" Shutdown and/or "during" Startup of Windows PCs. [While Windows O.S. is "running", most of it's System Files are LOCKED.]
    >> FYI: always let your BatteryPack run down to it's Lower setting BEFORE you plug-in your AC Adapter/Charger. Charging  any rechargeable BatteryPack at  "mid-charge-levels" causes shorter BatteryPack life...

  • Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

I just bought my Yoga 2 13, when I flip it to Tablet mode, the screen turns off. Apparently it goes to sleep. When I open it it turns on again. Do I need to do any adjustments? or is this a defect?

Try updating your drivers first: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-13-notebook-l...
If that does not help, try a factory reset:
    1. Turn off your Yoga 2 13
    2. Press the tiny button next to the power button on the right
    3. Follow instructions to perform a factory reset
If none of the above attempts have helped you, it is probably a hardware issue.

  • When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login.

When I get to the login page on my macbook, I type in my password and it starts to load, but then the screen turns blue and it goes back to the login.
Iv tryed this numerious times still keeps going back to pasword. Can not get any further. Tried restart holding shift key.. still nothing. What do i do?

    Thank you for your help.
I couldnt get to the hard drive/ desktop. Soft login not even working. So i could not do any of that.
In the end i took it to Apple and its actually the hard drive on its way out. A common issue with that series of Mac. Funny seeing i dont use this mac much. However being 2.5 years old and out of warrently, Apple have recognise this issue with this series/ Model and installing a new hard drive at no cost.
Very luck and greatful. And not feeling so dumb that it was something i did or could troubleshoot myself.
Hope this helps others that it just might be your hard drive failing.

  • When I type in my password into the login screen I get the rainbow pinwheel and then the screen turns gray and goes back to account selection... How do I access my account?

Today I was doing my chemistry homework when all of a sudden my mid 2011 MacBook pro running Lion 10.7.4 started going very very VERY slowly to a point where it was unusable. I restarted my computer and went to type in my password. When I did this, the computer recognized the password and began to boot yet the pinwheel came on and the screen turned gray and went back to the account selection screen. It continues to do this everytime I enter my password and I can no longer access my account. How do I fix this.

You can take some of the steps here, #4, #5 or even trying a #18
Step by Step to fix your Mac
but I suspect your going to first have to create a data recovery drive
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.
Step by Step to fix your Mac

  • Why does my screen turn black when I play iTunes while working on iPhoto?

Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on  iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.
Thanks in advance for all the suggestions. I truly appreciate your help.

    That was easy. Thanks. Jan

Hi I am trying to connect my mba mid 2011 with an imac 27" 2011 with target display mode tdm. When I am using a thunderbolt cable nothing will work. When I use a minidisplay cable, both screens turn blue but eventually nothing happens. What is the problem

Your answer is likely in Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support If you are familiar with this document, please re-read it and I suspect you may find something you either missed or are doing incorrectly.

  • External screen turns green?

I've had this setup for a while now.. A 12 inch PB with a CRT 17 inch monitor connected to the PB through the "mini dvi to vga" adapter..
Now this is the problem: since a few days the image on my external screen is green.. It's not totally green, i can see pictures and programs but it's like the color balance isn't right.
First I tried to change this through display calibration -> didnt help
Then i tried to manually adjust the color balance through the screen display settings -> didn't help..
So I thought my crt monitor was broken. But then I connected my PB to another external screen trough my "mini dvi to vga" adapter. And I had the same green screen. Then I knew it wasn't my crt monitor that was broken but it had something to do with my output signal..
Fortunately a friend of mine has a nice 20 inch tft display. I tested the connection again with the "mini dvi to vga" adapter and got the same green screen. But then I connected my PB to his 20 inch screen through a "mini dvi to dvi" adapter and the green was gone! So it couldn't be the output singal of my PB..
So i figured my "mini dvi to vga" adapter must not work properly somehow. I don't know how it could have broken. It happened just like that. I turned off my PB, and when I turned it back on the external screen turned green. I didn't do anything weird with it..
Could this be? That the adapter is broken? Or do you guys think there might be something wrong with the output signal after all?
    Anyone encountered something similar?

So I went to an apple store today, and explained them my problem. We tried a new "mini-dvi to vga" adapter but still the external screen was green!! Also, when using my adapter that I supposed was broken on another PB the output singal was perfect! So as it turns out, it's my PB thats not working properly..
The guys at the store said it must be somthing with the motherboard.. I just don't think I can miss my PB for more than a few days!! :P
