Screen with yellow tint - 2nd gen

I just replaced a first gen with a 2nd gen ipod touch. The 2nd gen's screen is yellowish with washed out contrast. Is this a known issue? Will an Apple Store consider it for replacement? It's not completely unviewable, just harder to read.
thanks

we can't speak for your local Apple store. go to one and ASK.

  • IPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen

    hello,
I have iPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen. The provider STC in Saudi Arabia refuse to change it.. I've tried to complain them to apple but Icouldn't. So What should I do?

I am occasionally having the same issue.  Saw another post that suggested it might be caused by mail notifications.  This is unconfirmed.

  • Looks like my screen has yellow tint problem.

looks like my screen has yellow tint problem, images look  more yellowish. Does anyone have similar issue with their mac airs?

This isn't an actually an issue. Apple have recently changed the screens they put in all their devices. If you were to put an iPhone 4 bought on release date next to one bought a month ago you would see that the older iPhone 4 would have a "bluer" screen. This is because the old screens had unnaturally bright whites so the new screens are supposed to be closer to the real colours and give a broader range of colours.

  • Nano 4 with yellow tint screen at top

Have iPod nano 4...has a yellow tint to screen toward top..have brightness turned up which makes it a bit better.
    How do I fix this??

The warning triangle is indicating possible poor printing on that particular image.
Most smaller images(i.e. book size) need 300 DPI for sharp images void of aliasing.
The warning triangle is indicating that you have zoomed and cropped this image past the point of ~300 DPI and the final output my not be as sharp as it could be and you may see aliasing.
Scale the image back down, i.e. bring some more pixels back until the triangle disappears... or close to it...

  • Replacing iPad Air with Yellow Tint?

Hello everyone, I recently received my iPad Air last week from Best Buy and it seems I have the yellow tint issue.
Can I just go to the genius bar and have them replace it or do I have to go to Best Buy?

Actually all LCD screens are constructed from multiple layers which are bonded together, so yes, the screens are "glued" together for want of a better description. There are many layers making up the screen, including the backlight/diffuser, two polarising layers with the actual liquid crystal sandwiched between them, for a lot of displays the touchscreen itself is another layer on top of that (on the iphone and ipad mini its built into the front layer of th eLCD, on the ipad 3 and 4 its a seperate piece of glass laminated onto the top of the LCD - i dont think anyone has sliced through an ipad air yet to find out how the lcdis constructed).  with all of these layers - what do you think holds them together and stops them falling apart??? ifixit wont have mentioned this since you cant delaminate an LCD display without shattering the very thin glass layers off, they just treat the LCD display as a single unit.
And yes there was a well known issue with the iphone 4 where they were shipping the so fast the bonding agent hadnt fully cured, meaning that anywhere on the display it was slightly thicker, it gets slightly yellowish
for my own personal iphone 4, after a 6 week wait for it to finish drying, it was still yellow so they replaced it.
it is perfectly possible that in these ipads, the bonding agent holding the multuiple layers of the touchscreen together not finished curing

  • IOS4 Problems with iPod Touch 2nd Gen

    Hello!
Since installing the iOS4 in my iPod 2nd Gen I had many problems, the OS makes the iPod slower, the auto-lock function doesn't work, once I tell it to auto-lock after 1 minute, it doesn't, it just stays on all day, I have to do it several times and lock it manually so it stays like that.
I have also had problems with syncing music, since it doesn't play the songs, but is not a constant thing, some days are one songs, some another and is not always the same song.
Many Apps are also failing but that goes to the App developer.
    < Edited by Host >

That is all fine and good except Apple pushed it 2nd gen owners as a supposed upgrade. Had we been given a disclaimer stating that it was going to half break most of our apps, we naturally would have declined the upgrade.
For the record, G2 touches did not get multitasking. All we got Folders and access to ibooks, along with a few minor tweaks, here and there. There is absolutely no excuse for how terribly slow ibooks renders PDFs, considering Looksee did a much faster and better job of it on my G1 touch.
All I really cared about was folders. It would be nice if Apple could tweak IOS4 for G2 ipods to allow for folders without decimating our Ram. If they can't then give us a convenient way to get back to an OS that actually works properly.

  • Screen has yellow tint

Whenever I turn my imac on it has a yellow tint. I've done the color calibration. Sometimes it'll turn back to normal, but when I shutdown/sleep and turn it back on it'll turn yellow again. Then other times when I do the color calibration, it won't even change, the screen will still have a yellow tint. I have no idea how this happened. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
First, make sure your iMac is or is not on the Apple Repair Extension program: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/ this addresses some video and power issues...
The only way I can make my screen slightly yellow or amber is through calibrating the display while in expert mode:
System Preferences > Displays > Color... from here pick any Display Profile to Calibrate, CHECK the box for Expert Mode, continue without changing anything till you reach 'Target White Point', you should check the box 'Use Native White Point', continue and SAVE AS a new profile name... this should get you back to nuetral white... if this fixes the problem you can always go back and calibrate this profile and tweak any settings you wish

  • Question for audiophiles using Airplay with Apple TV 2nd Gen

I'm using AirPlay on my iphone to play music to the Apple TV 2nd gen. (running optical out of AppleTV into high quality Rotel receiver)  I'm hearing what I believe is best called "pumping" in the audio: the volume is modulating in waves, and the music sounds distant.  I can't figure out what would cause this.  I've got excellent signal strength so I don't think it's a bandwidth problem where the devices might be over-compressing and thus introducing artifacts.
I've done A/B comparisons with the same song, hardwired to my receiver, and I've heard it on all the tracks I'm streaming, so I know it's not in the recording.
Has anyone experienced this phenomenon?  Thanks.

Sorry, I can only offer sympathies and the fact that I also had this issue with wired connections, using XBMC on my Mac Mini to play out to an Audiolab M-DAC. Unfortunately I made lots of changes trying to set up my Media Center, so I don't know what made it go away!
Just saying that it's not neccessarily an Airplay issue.

  • Google Earth only shows black screen with yellow lines on Lion 10.7

Hi, I am having trouble with running the Google Earth plug in my browser. Everytime I switch to "earth" mode, all I see is a black screen and yellow lines. I was able to rectify the issue in Google Earth itself by turning off Atmosphere but I can't do that in my browser and I use a website that utilizes Google Earth within a browser, so I'd really like to figure this out. I'm running Lion 10.7 on a X1600 128 MB dedicated graphics card. Maybe the graphics card is not good enough? Although I would have thought it could handle Google Earth.... Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi thanks for all the concern and replies. I've tried all that.
I had just got it back from the shop last Friday. It was there for around two weeks. It was a faulty GPU (when you see garbled display that's consisten when booting it the GPU). I have a strong feeling it's related to the Lion install 10.7 or 10.7.1 and may be similar to reports of Mac laptops overheating. It's good the GPU is removable, it might have taken 3 week or a month if it had been the whole board.
It's a blessing in disguise though as with all or most cases because I also got to have the LCD replaced for excessive backlight bleeding (in my opinion), the dead pixel from the previous LCD isn't there anymore (though under the glass there're some smudges but nothing crucial). The backlight bleeding is still the same though in my opinion but at least it's new.
It's a great thing I bought Applecare. I didn't buy it for the iPhone because that's more durable (my iPhone 3G's 3 years old now and it's still solid. Although there are scratches and a crack at the back at the bottom, got sqeezed under the table I think when I sat). I think Applecare is a good recommend for things that get hot like desktop and laptop Macs(are the iOS considered Macs btw?) which are twice or thrice the price of iOS devices.

  • Huge differences in screen colour / yellow tint

    Hi,
after using a 16GB Touchpad I recently received a 32GB version. From the beginning on I noticed a huge difference in the screen colour of the two pads. While I would consider the 16GB version neutral, the 32GB version has a much more yellow / orange tint. I noticed this even without putting the two pads side to side. Doing so results even in a much more obvious difference.
Are there explanations for this? Or even better: solutions? Any chance to adjust the colour temperature so that I could try to achieve a better colour balance on the 32GB pad?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Thank you very much for your reply. Interesting to hear, as it is discussed in some forums (e.g. precentral.net) whether HP used screens from different manufacturers.
As I explained the difference between my two devices is pretty obvious. I guess I will figure out how complicated a replacement might get due to the firesale implications.
    Best regards!

  • White screen with yellow stripes on start up?

On start up my screen is white with vertical yellow stripes and stays like that. I've tried re-booting but no good.

    You are very welcome.
I hate having to replace computers, get attached to them, but having the geniuses check this one out will save a lot of frustration.  A couple of these past discussions went on and on and on until the person gave in and did what you have done.  If it is hardware there just isn't anything on-line help can do about it.  Good luck tomorrow and if you have a chance, post the results...we are all fellow users on here and like to hear the resolution to problems.

  • Blotchy display with yellow tint.

My 27" 2009 iMac i7 display has become extremely blotchy and has a yellowish-gray "horizon line" running across the bottom of the screen. I'm aware of the display issues with the first run of these machines, but was hoping mine squeaked by without these flaws. Apparently not. Any fixes out there or is it straight to the Genius Bar for me?

My iMac, which seems to be equally spec'd to your's just developed this same issue last week.  I took it in on Saturday and I'm supposed to be picking it up this evening. Hopefully you were able to get yours taken care of, and hopefully mine looks just like new again when I pick it up tonight.  I'd heard lots of comments about this defect occuring when I was shopping for mine, but thought I'd escaped it, then out of no where it just popped up more than a year later.

  • Can I use my iPad (1st gen) with apple tv (2nd gen) for things such as air play and mirroring?

Can I use my iPad 1st generation on a apple tv 2 generation for things such as AirPlay and mirroring
I'm thinking about getting a new apple tv but it's pointless if iPad doesn't mirror or AirPlay, cheers guys.
I understand the 2nd generation works.

No. There are some apps that allow you to control the laptop remotely from an iPad, however, but that doesn't sound like what you need.

  • ITunes for Mac freezing when homesharing with Apple TV 2nd Gen

So first off I am using the latest version of iTunes, and my Apple TV2 is updated as well with the latest firmware.
I started noticing this problem earlier today, my itunes library will show up on my Apple TV for awhile, then while looking through the shows under 'Computers' in my library, suddenly it will stop loading the shows pictures and will not load the shows once I try and play them. Naturally I go to my iMac to see whats going on and my iTunes has completely frozen, Its never frozen before with regular use, I have tried it multiple times, it will play well for some time, then it will kill over. My itunes library is on a Seagate Goflex Desk 1 TB hard drive, if thats a problem.
When my iTunes DOES freeze, I force quit, then when I go to launch iTunes again I get a "This library has been locked, this disk is locked or you don't have permission' type error and I must reboot my Mac to get it to launch again. Very annoying, what should I Do?

You can do just that. Highlight any song and hold the select button > Start Genius.
This will let you start Genius, but it behaves differently now. It used to be than when I started Genius from a song, the selected song was part of the playlist and I wouldn't have to do anything special to play it.
Now, when I start Genius it gives me a list of songs based on the one I picked, but it doesn't include the one I started from. I also have to manually start playing one of those songs, or select "Shuffle" to actually start playing the playlist.
I'm so used to just starting Genius and walking away. The way it's implemented with the ATV2 is quite annoying to me.

  • Retrieving Previous Versions of Apps Compatible With iPod Touch 2nd Gen

    Hi
I have an ipod touch second generation ipod.  I did a factory reset on it to see if that would resolve some power consumption issues.
The current version of Find my iPhone is not compatible with this generation ipod.  I've scoured my Time Machine and Backup arcives, but they do not go back far enough to get me to a 2011 version of this app.
Is there any way to obtain prior versions of applications?
    AS

No, except from your own backups, which don't contain them.
