Screen won't change to horizontal view

all of a sudden my phone screen doesn't change anymore when I turn my phone horizontal, e.g., in mail or safari or to view photos. Any suggestions??

Not yourself. If it's still under warranty/AppleCare, make an appt. with an Apple Store Genius Bar or whoever renders warranty service in your country. If not covered, the out of warranty replacement cost in the US is $199. 3rd party iPhone repair centers may be less expensive - Google to find them.

  • Couldn't change to horizontal view on iPhone.

I uploaded a course to our own learning APP. Works totally fine on Android device. But could't change to horizontal view on iPhone.
Can Someone give me a link to a sample course? So I can test with the phone's native browser. Need to know if it's the APP's problem.

You have Portrait Orientation Lock on.  See p. 32...http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf

  • HT1414 When updating my iphone with new software it came up on screen with the cable and itunes sign (which is what I should get when restoration has been completed) yet it is still saying restore. I have tried 3 times and the screen won't change. HELP!

If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number?

  • Texting the screen won't rotate to horizontal

Just upgraded to ios 6 on my 4S.  Now while texting the screen stays in vertical mode only. Is there a way to change this in settings?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • How do I remove the lock(with the circle around it) from the top of my iPhone? The screen won't display sideways.

How do I remove the lock (with the circle around it) on my Iphone? The screen won't change to the side view. I have no idea what button I accidently
    pushed.... Please advise!  Thanks, Amy

Double click the home button, swipe the dock at the bottom of the screen to the right, tap the circle/lock so it becomes just a circular arrow.

  • Edited PDF changes to Horizontal when Printing to PDF

    We use Adobe Pro Online.
When my supervisor edits a PDF and then Prints to Adobe PDF (rather than saving) it is changing it to a Horizontal view. She claims she hasn't changed any settings, and that her print settings are not set to landscape. She also says that when she rotates the image back the way it should be and again tries to Print to Adobe PDF it again changes it to horizontal view. She said this just started a couple of days ago. Can anyone think of a reason why it might be doing this? When she saves or saves as it does not change to horizontal view.
My supervisor was taught to always Print to PDF instead of Saving. She claims it makes it indelible. I don't agree, I think she needs to use the protection settings, and save or save as. She is set in her ways, and wants to be able to continue doing it her way, but the horizontal view makes it unuseable.

You can't do that. It's a setting of the printer used by the user on their computer, not of your file. The only way you can set this option is if the user prints the file via a button that you've added to it (in Acrobat), that uses a script that sets that option for them.

  • Ipad home screen won't automatically adjust to horizontal orientation

what is the solution when ipad home screen won't automatically adjust to horizontal orientation?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • My iPad2 won't stay in the horizontal view position

My iPad2 won't stay in the horizontal view position. I have it unlocked so I believe it should switch between views as I move it.  Before I make a trip to the Apple store I want to make sure it's not user error!

Unlocked allows the screen to rotate as you rotate the device. Locked is supposed to keep the screen fixed in one orientation. However the function of the switch on the side can be swapped between orientation lock and mute, so it might not be perfoming the job you expect it to. Check Settings > General > Side Switch.

Sounds to me more like you have the Display Performance set on Typical rather than High Quality Display. Unless there is a problem with a missing or out-of-date link, the display in ID has nothing to do with output quality -- all of the image data is used for output.

  • TS4002 I want to view my emails with the reading pane at the bottom of the screen - I cannot change it from a vertical column view. Used to be 'classic view' in mobile me. Anyone know how to do it?

I want to read my emails in horizontal view - reading pane at the bottom of the monitor - on iCloud. I cannot change the view from vertical and columns? Anyone know how I can do this? It was called 'classic view' in Mobileme.

    Thanks, got that.
    That's OK on 'mail'.
My problem is on webmail -  when I open my email on    iCloud I have the columns and cannot find where to change the view.
    Any further ideas?

  • The screen orientation won't change even though it shows orientation as unlocked

the screen orientation won't change even though it shows orientation as unlocked on the bottom of the screen and when I release the side button.  Any ideas?

If rotation lock is not set (i.e. there is no lock symbol next to the battery indicator at the top of the screen, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085), then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • IPhone screen won't flip horizontally for videos

After I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 my screen won't flip horizontally for video clips. It does flip for YouTube but not for music videos.
    Please fix!!

This is ridiculous.  Half the time it will go horizontally to a song that isn't even playing.  The other half of the time it's a tiled screen with album covers.  They have the most stupid things that don't work right!

  • My nano's screen is frozen and won't change no matter what I do.

My nano's screen is lit up and is as though I have just pressed the pause button. But it won't change. None of the buttons work. The hold switch doesn't change anything. Even if I plug it into my computer, the computer recognizes the USB being plugged in but iTunes doesn't pop up, nor does the screen change. It has been like this, for 3 hours now. What should I do? I bought the nano on September 25th, 2005.

  • My iPhone 4s is stuck in AirPlay screen.  It won't shut off, software is current, it rings but the screen doesn't change so I can't take any calls. What do I do?

My iPhone 4s is stuck in AirPlay screen.  It won't shut off, software is current, it rings but the screen doesn't change so I can't take any calls. What do I do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If you have problems restoring (if that is necessary) the iPhone
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPhone fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
