Screen won't switch to Landscape sometimes

Its not a horribly bad issue but I am noticing that certain sites I go to on the phone won't allow me to type in a landscape type of mode for some reason. It makes me type in a one handed type of way and I prefer texting or emailing with both hands. To piggy back on my other post. Is there an easy way of moving the cursor when typing emails or sending a text. If I need to correct something it seems like it is hard to get the cursor to go to that location unless I delete some words to get it to back where I want.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

By restart do you mean a reset ? If there isn't a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Is there is a lock symbol then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Apps won't switch to landscape mode

Many of my apps won't switch to landscape mode (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Yelp). I know that landscape works on my phone because Photos, Messages, Calculator, etc. will switch to landscape mode. Also, I don't have the portrait lock on. The apps used to switch to landscape - what's up? Could it be because of the new update?

Then the next steps in user troubleshooting are restore from backup, and if necessary restore as new. I would also ask, have you checked to make sure that the Orientation Lock is not on? Check in the status bar to see if you see a small padlock with a circular arrow around it next to the battery status. If so, you turn this off from the Control Center. Swipe upwards from off the bottom of the screen, then Orientation Lock is on the top row all the way to the right. White is on, black is off. I have also read that there is a screen zoom setting, either in Display & Brightness or Wallpaper. I don't have an iPhone 6, so I cannot compare. Supposedly in the zoom setting, it can prevent some things from happening, and I believe landscape orientation was one of them.

What is it you're trying to do? If you're looking for orientation lock in iOS 7, swipe up from the bottom of your phone to access control center. Orientation lock is the top right icon.

IPhone 5s won't switch to landscape mode

I have the iPhone 5s (32GB) and the software currently being used is up to date (IOS 7.1.1).
My problem is that my phone won't switch to landscape mode. When I take pictures, it won't turn over, and all other apps, even when I play games like Temple Run, it won't allow the character to move side to side.
I have checked to see if my phone's orientation lock is on, which it is not. I have done a hard reset which did not fix it. I also did a restore where I restored it completely and set it up as a new phone, and restored it and set it up with a backup. Nothing has helped it!!
I don't know what to do, and would much rather figure it out than go to the Apple Store and get it looked at. If you have any knowledge or anything that can potentially help resolve this issue, i'd be very much appreciated!!

How to enter DFU mode:
Plug your device into your computer
Turn off the device by holding the Sleep/Wake or Power button and swiping it off
Hold the power button for 3 seconds
Begin holding the Home button without releasing the Sleep/Power button for 10 seconds
Release the power button and continue holding the home button until you get a popup from iTunes that your device is recognized as being in recovery mode.

Numbers app won't switch to landscape view - ipod touch

The numbers app does not seem to be able to switch to landscape view on the ipod touch.
Is there someway to get it to run in horizontal mode?

It seems like it ought to be, I'm very dissapointed that this app won't do this.

I had the same problem but it wasn't because the orientation was locked .
Mine was some kind of glitch that was resolved by holding down the home key and the button on top until the white Apple appeared on the screen .

Ipod 3rd Gen Touch screen won't rotate to landscape

My Ipod Touch 3rd Gen froze in middle of the screen rotating to landscape mode one day. After having to restart it the screen won't rotate all the time now, just whenever it chooses to. I checked and the screen lock is off. I've restored it and it worked once then went right back to the problem, same as if I reset or turn it off. I'm starting to think something got corrupted after it froze and then I reset it.

I think the highest I've dropped it from is maybe 3 feet but it still worked fine. When it froze I had it in landscape then flipped it to normal,put it on a JVC dock the went to flip it into landscape again to play a video at which point it just froze. Then I restarted it and it's been deciding when it wants to rotate. As if right now I have he newest OS and it's curretly working. It may be fixed or it may be a trap. I'll keep an eye on it for today then see of it still ends up don the smas thing.

MSI GT780 Screen won't switch on even though the laptop turns on. HELP PLEASE!!!

my msi gt 780 screen won't turn on. it has always worked until now. what must i do to get it to switch on? the leds on the keyboard work. the fan works. so not cpu related i think. what could be the problem?

Let's get this resolved KRetz! Once you press your menu button twice quickly you will see your recently used applications at the bottom of the screen. Drag the screen to the right and look for the the Portrait Orientation Symbol and ensure the lock icon is not preset. You can remove the lock icon by tapping the Orientation Symbol. Home screen won't rotate to landscape

I thought that my home screen would rotate into landscape mode when I first got the phone, but it will no longer do so. This happens on the home screen and in the app drawer. When my phone is in the desktop cradle it rotates just fine. When I am in an app such as messaging or the browser it rotates also with no problem.
Auto rotation is checked in settings - display.
Anyone know why this might be happening or how to fix it? I sometimes prefer to hold my phone in landscape mode depending on how I am using it.

This appears to be an artifact of the OS. I tried to duplicate the situation, and was easily able to. Also, the dialer screen does not rotate.
I use a desk dock for the phone, and when docked the Apps screen, the dialer screen and the home screens all rotate (the phone is docked in an orientation with its left side down). So I think this is part of the design of the OS.
Perhaps not to your liking, but I don't think this is considered a malfunction.

I've had iphone 5 for about 2 weeks and recently when I turn my phone to landscape when texting it doesn't switch to landscape

Again make sure rotation lock is disabled as TJBUSMC1973 kindly suggested. Then what you want to do is:
- leave the multitasking bar up
- hold your finger on the messages app till it starts to wiggle
- tap the red button with the - in it on the messages app
then do a reset:
- hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time
- the iphone will turn off(keep holding) then release both buttons as soon as you see the apple logo appear
Now try opening the messages app and view it landscape.

Is there a trick to get the screen to rotate into landscape mode and back to portrait when in iMessage on the iPhone 6? This isn't the only app having the issue.
