Screen won't work but laptop is running

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and if there is a fix for it. I recently bought a new battery for my Toshiba L645D -4037 and after charging it completely the system wouldn't boot or at least I can't ell because the screen is black. All the other typical sounds are there like the fan and the DVD drive with a DVD in it of course. I tried connecting an external monitor and that doesn't help, no signal either. I've tried all the suggestions out there like removing the battery and pressing the power button for 30 seconds or more several times but that hasn't worked. I also tried to do the same with only the power cord connected adone that didn't work either. II left it charging ver night last night and tried to start it this morning but no luck. I took out the hard drive and connected it to my mac using a USB sata adapter and got all my personal stuff Yesterday. Is there anything else I can do? I'm starting to think the on boabad graphics card is shot!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ed

Unfortunately, it does sound like there might be a hardware failure in the laptop itself that would require servicing.

You're going to need to do an RMA with MSI. Most likely there isn't anything we can do here to help you.

  • Macbook screen won't work, but external monitor works fine...

Hey guys - are there any solutions out there for this problem that doesn't involve hundreds of dollars? A mate of mine spilled beer on a macbook - had to pay for it, I fired it up and everything works fine but the screen... Is there a way that I can check the connections or dry something off? Apple told the owner to throw it in the bin - but it works fine plugged into a monitor. The screen isn't cracked or chipped - all looks fine - I'm guessing that fluid had got into a connection somewhere. Help me Gurus!
    Cheers

Have you tried drying it without the back cover and upside down? l heard it worked for some guy

Iphone screen is black but the touch screen works and everything else, I just can't see anything on the screen . I tried resetting it but that did nothing.

You held down the home & power buttons until the Apple logo appeared? This could take as long as 30 seconds or more.

IOS7 installed OK to my iPhone 4S and worked OK for a while but I have somehow managed to completely jam my iPhone 4s. The touch screen won't work except for up and down gestures (some of the time). I can't make or answer calls, I can't even power if off. I can't access the hardward ID which Apple support seems to require for Chat.
It might have happened when I was accessing my camera bypassing the lock screen!
All I know is that the thing is now useless and it looks like I will have to wait for the battery to run down to see if powering it back up afterwards will solve the problem.

I have since discovered the "hold down home key and power button" together for a few seconds and this seems to have worked .... phew!

Did the trick!  Not sure what I did to cause the screen to go numb, but this worked perfectly!!!  I cleaned the screen and must have inadvertently selected something that locked the screen.  This perfect solution kept me from having to run to the Apple Store.  Many thanks.

  • Satellite A300 - screen won't work sometimes

Ok so first of all I want to start by telling you that I am a complete noob when it comes to computers, and also my native language is not english, but i'll try my best to make you understand my problem.
Sometimes, when I try to turn on my laptop, the screen won't work. I hear the fan running, those little lights on the keyboard light up, but the screen just remains black...this happened for like 3 days until today, I got home and it magically worked. This same thing happened like a month ago...what is going on? :s

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer exact diagnostic.
What we can do here is nothing but speculation about possible reasons.
A300 is not the newest model so there can be some problem with connection between mainboard and the display.
Next time when this happen, try to move display or press gently the notebook below the display just to see if this will help or not.
At the end I must say that only service can help you with this. With other words they can disassemble the notebook and check the display cable.

    Try:

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
