Screen Zooms in unexpectantly

Ever since I installed snow leopard, while I'm moving around the screen, usually on the web, the screen will suddenly zoom in really close, making it hard to work with.  I don't know which movement prompted the zoom in, so I try to reverse the movement and nothing works.  So I have to close the screen and start over again.  I'd like to know how to prevent this from happening and how to remedy it without having to start over again. Thanks

Turn off Zoom from the Universal Access and Keyboard & Mouse panes of System Preferences.

  • How can I turn off the new "full screen zoom"?

Man, horror of horrors: Apple seems to have suddenly (with 10.8.2?) activated a terrible "full screen zoom" feature which makes a window zoom to maximum size if I happen to move the window along the top of the screen. Several times per hour I accidentally make my windows full screen, even tiny graphics I happen to be working with in Photoshop, and it's one of the worst UI changes Apple has rolled out since they tried to force all function keys to only work as volume, brightness etc.
So, does anyone know a way to get the "force window to jump to full screen" option to go away?

I'm not aware of the behavior you're describing. I've never seen it, and just tested it for myself. I cannot get windows to zoom to full screen just from moving them to or along the top of the screen. Is this only happening in Photoshop? If so, it may be a Photoshop issue. If not, have you installed any kind of third-party software that might be doing that? Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the problem persists then. If it doesn't, but comes back when you reboot normally, the problem is caused by some third-party software you have installed.

  • Screen zoom on an external monitor over Airplay is broken

I just updated to Mavericks and noticed that I have lost functionality. I mirror my MacBook Pro to an external Sharp monitor using Airplay. While I am mirroring and zoom in on my screen, my screen will zoom but not the external monitor. In 10.8 this worked perfectly. Does anybody have ideas for how to enable this or a workaround?

Here is what I just made work for me - and it isn't perfectly what I want, but at least my students will be able to see what I am coding.
In the Accessability Panel's Zoom settings I changed from Full Screen to Picture-In-Picture style zooming.
This works, but I would rather have a full screen zoom.
A side note: The cursor size, and grey scale work, but the color inversion and high contrast settings do not work on the mirrored display.
    It seems strange.

  • IPOD Touch Screen zoomed in and won't respond

My screen zoomed in and is so large that I can't get the slides to respond to open or shut down. I have done the restore and reinstalled some music but that didn't solve the problem.  It only responds to voice command, it won't shut down because I can't slide the button across and when I can get into the system, the screen only shows me a small part of the topic and it won't move so I can't access anything.  Any ideas?

    - Double tap the screen with three fingers and go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off Zoom and Voice over too if you want.
    - Alternately, you can connect to your syncing computer and go to the Summary pane.  Click on Configure Universal Acess and turn off Zoom and Voice Over (if you wish).

  • Nokia lumia 520 screen zooms in too much

I purchased Lumia 520 about a week ago but after two three days the problem started. The lock screen zooms in so much that it is impossible to attend any incoming call also it is impossible to see the incoming number's digits because they are so much zoomed in that they just don't fit on to the screen. Everytime this problem occurs,I simply restart the phone and it gets fixed up but I can't do this everytime ad this is very inconvenient to. Please help me to get rid of this piece of junk.

There is a very simple solution to this problem and explains why my phone screen is always enlarging. Instead of restarting the phone, which I hated doing all the time, simply double tap the phone using 2 fingers in the middle of the screen. I guarantee this will work and will return your screen back to it's normal size. I hope this helps!

  • Need help with screen zoom please

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse. But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works. This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications (like Illustrator) difficult unless I zoom in to make selection points larger and more manageable. Note: using Illustrator's magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small when I magnify and image, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select. Can anyone help me?
F.Y.I. I also updated my trackball drivers as well, but my trackball preference settings did not change.

Thanks for your input. I hear what you are saying. I have found a couple of applications that worked better with my old Tiger system than with Leopard. When I contacted the developers of these mis-behaving apps, I learned that while Intel machines seem to have no problem with their app's Leopard updates, they do report problems with those of us who still use our old big honking tower PPC's. Maybe that is what I am experiencing here.

updated iphone 5 to iOS 6.1.3, now I am having trouble with keyboard not responding correctly and screen zooming in by itself...
    Buttons pressing themself...
Also, my main screen is permanently zoomed in...
    suggestions?

Double tap the screen with THREE fingers, that should get it back to normal again.
Then go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > OFF.
Not too sure about the keyboard and random button presses though.  Back it up and restore from iTunes, see if that fixes it.

  • Full screen zooming in OS X Lion

Running recent model (non-Thunderbolt) i7 iMac and after the Lion install I can't do a full screen zoom. Tried every combination in Universal access and mouse settings, but I can't duplicate what I loved so much about the previous OS X versions (and have sold a heck of a lot of Macs to friends and co-workers based on simply thowing this zoom feature). I have a Magic Mouse and the Mouse dialog states something about holding a modifier key with the "scroll wheel"
I hope this is fixed or someone has a workthrough. When I fire

Hm. I'm using a Macbook Pro, and I can zoom using multi-touch just fine, though I might be interpreting your question incorrectly. Say for instance on the Safari window I'm typing in, I can zoom in on text and whatnot without the menu bar and all that zooming. Are you referring to zooming everything as a whole? After I send this I'll take a look, because I think I did that at some point when I was using the GM seed.
^The person above me figured it out, thanks for reminding me as well!

  • Login with password and screen zooms to maximum size

This just started happening.  Startup my Quad Core 2.66, with 10.6.8 (all SW updates), login, and screen zooms to maximum zoom with giant cursor in the middle. The only easy way get it back down to normal res is to do command+esc to get to Front Row, and then hit esc.
What the heck is going on?

Really appreciate this. What on Earth was Apple thinking when they enabled this as default and why did this suddenly reoccur? (Vaguely remember this happening a year or so ago).

Why is my screen zooming in all the time? and what can I do to prevent it?

Press the key combination option-command-8 to disable Zoom. If you're using an Apple wireless mouse, open theMouse pane in System Preferences and uncheck the box marked Smart zoom.

  • What am I inadvertently doing to make my iPhone 4S screen zoom in?

I'm doing something inadvertently, and constantly, that makes my iPhone 4S screen zoom in or enlarge...so I can only see part of what should be on the screen, whether I'm on the home screen or within an app.  I can't seem to "un-zoom" it so I have to reboot the phone...I'm doing this every day.  What am I doing to cause this?

    go to settings>general>accessibility

  • Full screen zoom?

I have an iMac with Lion.  I was holding shift (or control) and my whole screen zoomed in.  Now I can't even see the apple menu because it's off screen, nor can I see my icons at the bottom of the screen.  How do I zoom back out?  Double tapping doesn't seem to work for full zoom.

    Hi appleactor
Hope you're enjoying your first Mac! I found the same issue when I first switched a couple of years ago. The X vs. XP site provides the reasoning behind Apple's choice (http://www.xvsxp.com/interface/maxvszoom.php), and I now actually prefer working without full screen windows - makes much more sense once you get used to it

  • Screen zoomed can't undo with hard reset or full restore!

I was playing with a particle App and the screen zoomed. It zoomed back but then zoomed again and froze - I tried resets, hard resets, and finally full restore (iOS 4.1) and it still starts up looking normal then suddenly without touching the phone, the screen zooms and you cannot pan.
Is this a hardware failure of some kind? Has anyone experienced this before?

    TAP 2 times with 3 fingers !!!
    Hope it helps
These useless 'quick buttons' are VERY annoying (2 unitended taps with 3 fingers or 3 unintended clicks with the home button etc.)
Maybe we have people around us that know these tricks, and play games with us, but ....I already restored my phone twice for a perceived VIRUS.
1st time all remained in photo negative (press home button 3 x which I did not know). Lost all my data and the iPhone remaind in negative until someone gave me the 'code' to resolve this. (Really looks like something is wroing: who would want 'negative' as a homebutton feature...?
Then this 'unresolvable' zoom occured today which made me sick and restore. Until I read this forum.
Apple used to be the ultimate 'user friendly' 'foolproof' company, and we all might be fools, but who the **** would want to have a MEGA zoom feature that disallows any operation of your phone and remains even after a restart?!
    APPLE:
PLEASE TAKE THESE 'SHORTCUT ACTIVATION' FEATURES OUT of the primary interface
and make many unintended users happy!!
And if they need to be there, put them in the 'settings' menu, because just look at the Forums and draw your own conclusions !!
