Screenflow distorting desktop audio

Hi everyone, so basically having a really frustrating problem with the Screenflow application. I started a topic in the developers own forum but not having any real success so far, so im hoping that I could possibly find someone who could help me.
Heres a summary of the issues and information :
I am running on an early 2009 imac running OS - 10.8.2
I am trying to record minecraft using screenflow however trying to use my Blue Yeti microphone with the software seems to be causing a problem.
When I record without using a mic, or with the built in mic or from my usb headset the sound recorded from the computer comes back clear and fine. But when you try to use my condenser microphone in my case a Blue yeti. The audio recorded from the computer comes back garbled and distorted. The main reason I purchased the software was specifically for this purpose and at £70 not cheap. So I really would appreciate some sort of advice and solution to this issue I tried it seems strange that the microphone would be causing this problem?
this is an example of how its sounding : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03HJ1dTZem8&feature=youtu.be
Lastly I know on the recording the volume of the mic etc isnt very loud i was just rushing these out on the day. Its just to illustrate whats happening.
Really hope anyone has experienced this or has some suggestions thanks guys

USB mics must have  the settings changed in Audio Setup as follows:
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup >
select the mic being used in the input device selection
enter 1 in the value box or drag the slider to change in both the audio input and output sections
the setup window will look a bit different in your Mac OS than mine
Also keep the mic gain adjuster down, at least half way, to prevent noise

  • Adobe desktop audio question. Please help.

I have been having issues all day recording audio into a project with a usb mic. After watching tutorials, I noticed an issue. In every video when the person go's to audio hardware preferences they have "Premier pro WDM sound" selected in the Adobe desktop audio menu. For whatever reason I don't have the WDM sound option in my window. (Please see pictures below) Is there a way to get that option? Please help. The first piccture is from a video. The second picture is my computer. I am using a macbook. Thanks

'Premiere Pro WDM' will only appear on Windows as it is referring to 'Windows Driver Model'. This will not show up on you're Mac. It might prove easier using other software for recording (Audition for example) as it's a bit easier to process the audio afterwards, it has a larger waveform preview and it's a bit easier to chop bits out etc.

  • Blackmagic removed desktop audio functionality from Declink cards on Windows.... now what?

So, Blackmagic removed desktop audio functionality from Declink cards on Windows.... now what? After Effects is not programmed to talk to Decklink cards directly on the audio part, there is no ASIO, or mercury playback for the audio part, Blackmagic says it was never intended to be used as an audio card, yet up to last version of version 9 provided an audio driver for it, as a result, now any application not written to talk to the Decklink card directly, can't use the card for audio playback. I'm wondering if they think that the people that uses After Effects don't need audio at all....   rewiring all the rooms in  the post productions facilities that had all the audio of all the system going out via the decklink cards it is not an option.
I'm wondering if Adobe is aware of this and if it have plans to support direct connection to the Decklink cards on the audio side of After Effects. This is a huge problem for all the people that uses AE and Decklink on windows and wants a profesiona quality audio monitoring.  Audition, Premiere, all of those can work now, but not AE. I remember some time ago AE used to support ASIO, but I do not see that option anymore.

Adobe talks with Blackmagic regularly and we were recently made aware of this change. It is, clearly, not something under our control but we can provide feedback to them about your responses to the change.
You are correct, After Effects does not play back audio through Mercury Transmit like Premiere Pro does. This was something we considered for After Effects CC 2014 (CC), but at the time we were developing this release there was no urgent need to do so, and this would require significant work to re-wire how After Effects plays back audio. We will continue to talk with Blackmagic and evaluate what the best plan is going forward.

  • I was wondering if you could have one desktop audio playing through your speakers and the other one playing through your apple tv at the same time?

i was wondering if you could have one desktop audio playing through your speakers and the other one playing through your apple tv at the same time?

Problem here is you admit you cannot afford the service.
And you want to blame Verizon for losing a job because you have no cell phone.
If your job depends on that phone I would pay it on time every time if you need a job to pay your bill.
No other service is going to treat you any different. And if you cannot afford Verizon's monthly invoice how are you going to afford new devices, activation fees, possible security deposits on any other cellular carrier? You can't.
Also if you made an arraignment to pay and then decide you cannot do so, why should Verizon extend you service or credit, or why is it you want to use the service and data and not pay for it as agreed.
Get a prepay phone. Its evident the cost is too high for you to afford on post pay.
    Good Luck

  • Extended desktop audio

I am using Apply TV to extend my iMac desktop. Is it possible to do this WITHOUT sending my computer audio over to Apple TV?

You should be able to change the volume back to your computer by going to system preferences, sound, output and selecting your computer speakers.  I'm actually have the opposite problem.  My video goes to my TV but the volume stays on my laptop and I don't want that for watching movies.  It works fine when using ipad or iphone but not with my macbook air...

  • Connecting to HDTV distorts desktop picture

I was finally able to connect my Macbook Pro to my Sony Bravia HDTV by using a VGA/SVGA cable. But as soon as the cable was connected my desktop images became distorted and swelled in size, cutting most open windows halfway out of view. I'm using a DVI adaptor on my computer and then a Male-to-male VGA/SVGA cable to connect to the TV. Rebooting did not fix the issue. Does anybody know if there's some sort of setting I need to do on the computer (or TV) to eliminate this distortion?

Go to System Preferences, go to Displays. If the monitor isn't already detected, hit the Detect Displays button. Sounds like it's just a matter of finding your preferred resolution, so play with it until the picture looks right... or have you already tried this? I haven't connected my laptop to my big screen since 2003 (macmini connected now, my new laptop doesn't have a cable I can connect through, so I can't run a trial to see what happens with 2 displays now) but if I remember it correctly, it's just a matter of mirroring (make sure you mirror displays if you want to see the same thing on each screen, not just extend your desktop) and settings being tweaked until it works. But that was a few OS ago. If you can't get it to work, post up some screenshots of your Displays prefpane and I'll try to walk you through it.

  • Occasional Distortion of Audio

I have a Pavilion dv7 laptop and whenever I play music the sound occasionally distorts for a couple of seconds. At first I thought there was something wrong with certain songs I played but it happens randomly for all the music I play and never in the same place twice. It happens about 2-3 times every 5 songs or so. I know it's not the speaker because it happens whether I have speakers plugged in or not. I suspect it's something to do with the sound card? Please help!

Control Panel -> Devices Manager -> Audio, Video and Games Controllers
and find there IDT audio card. Click on it with right button of your mouse and choose properties. Then go to ' Details ' tab and paste here Hardware Ids . This way we will know what it is.

  • Ridiculous Audio distortion returning audio from Audition

Working in Premier Pro CC (not 2014), sometimes it happens once a day that I'd send audio to Audition, edit it and save it, and then when I return for playback in Premiere, it explodes in my ears with the most ungodly distortion, at FULL volume.
I cannot explain what a foul mood that puts me in (thankfully not sitting with a client), because of how severely painful it is when you're working with headphones and suddenly it blows up with the sound of Zeus' thunder clapping fart bombs, right in your ears. Adobe CC doesn't come with hearing insurance, does it?
All grumbles aside, this problem requires me to quit Premiere and open the same file, after which everything works normal, including the send-around via Audition. It works for a day, like it worked yesterday, and then today for some reason did it again.
I know I'll be advised to upgrade to CC 2014, and I have, but I've had too many times that it started too slowly or crashed, which is why I'm using the older CC version. I'll figure out the 2014 issues on another time, but I've been told numerous times that the older Premiere CC was updated to resolve this distortion issue, and yet I'm still experiencing it.
Any solutions to this problem anyone know of?

It probably won't make any difference as FCE only references the audio file that's on your hard drive. When you import a song you only tell FCE (create a file path) where to find it.
Regarding changing applications mid stream, not a wise idea, even though it will probably work OK going to FCP. Be best to complete the current project then make the jump.

  • Distorted AIF audio, WAV fine

I've always used AIF sound files in FCP and FCE with no trouble, but on the current project (in FCE 2.0.3), AIF files are blaring, overmodulated and distorted; they sound fine when opened in QT. I haven't changed any settings in FCE (that I know of). However, WAV files (which I've never used in FCE before) sound fine in FCE.
Is there some setting I'm not aware of that I need to attend to?

+I have various quicktime files on the pc that played fine but are now unable to be viewed. I have downloaded again, they play fine... but now a few days later... audio, but no video at all... not "scrambled", just video "noise", really.+
"Green" gets me thinking about issues with DirectX on the PC.
Have you tried the "Disable Direct3D acceleration in QuickTime" section from the following document? (iTunes uses QuickTime for video playback, so the same basic troubleshooting procedures apply.)

  • Visually Distorted Desktop

Everything on the desktop is magnified to about 125%. More exactly, windows in the the middle of the desktop bow inward and when dragged to the edge of the desktop, bow outward, as if the desktop has an invisible mesh to distort the visuals. I can't see all the items in the desktop menu or and software menus. I may have hit some weird key combo, but am not sure. Restart did not revert to correct proportions. Magnifying and reducing desktop makes no difference.
I've searched through preferences and can't find any setting pertaining to this issue.
    Any tips?

Thank you for your effort. I've tried different resolutions that seem to have no immediate effect when selected. The effect I am experiencing seems like a combination of the Preferences>Display>Geometry "bulging" and "pinching" icons for the Pincushion option (outer screen and center of screen, respectively), as if images are on a distorted mesh.
Their is the usual straight black border on all four sides of the viewable desktop area. It is within this area that the distortion occurs.
I do not know what the "invisible space behind the bezel" means.
    10-4
    Thanks again.

  • Distortion in audio when exporting HDV to tape

I'm having trouble sending a native HDV project back to tape. The picture looks fine on the export, but the audio is severely distorted. It's not overmodulation. I have a -10 limiter on the audio master track, and the VUs on my deck don't show anything like any clipping. But the sound it's making is similar to clipping. Any ideas? Thanks,
    Stu

    Howard,
Thanks for the reply. It's hard to describe the sound...it actually reminds me of the sound a 16mm projector makes when it loses its loop, sort of a strobing distortion. As for constancy, no it's definitely not constant in the sense that, say, ground loop hum is constant. It's "attached" to the sounds as the play back, so that when the timeline is very quiet it's hardly audible, but when you get any sound at all, it comes up. I know that might sound like clipping, but I don't see how it could possibly be for a few reasons:
    1. There's a -9 limiter on the audio master track.
    2. It sounds perfectly fine both in timeline playback and when exported to Encore.
    3. The VUs in the original source clips, the timeline, and the deck on output all show clean levels with no clipping.
I'm wondering if it's related to my deck, but I haven't had a chance to check that yet. I'll try outputting to the camera when I get back in to work on Monday, but if you have any other ideas as to what the cause might be, I'd be happy to hear them. Thanks.

  • Distorted Bluetooth Audio

The streaming audio from my 9650 is distorted when playing any audio files stored on the device.  The phone audio is perfect.  I tried syncing to a Motorola HS305 headset, my brother-in-laws Yukon and my PC.  Same results.  If I turn the volume down on the phone or on the synced device, the audio gets lower but the distortion doesn't change.  My BB is a week old and the corporate store claims the OS is the latest greatest (for whatever that's worth).  Anybody heard of a solution?

I am having a similar problem when using my Motrola S305 bluetooth headphones to listen to music files.  The audio is garbled/distorted and I can't seem to adjust by lowering volume (either on the BB or the headphones).  Phone call audio through the headphones is perfect, and the music audio is pretty good through the BB's speaker.  It's odd, but I didn't have this problem on the Tour 9630 (using the same Motorola headphones).
Has anybody had similar problems with the Motrola S305 headphones?  I did not see it on RIM's list of "compatible" headphones.  Maybe these issues can be addressed with an OS update?
