Screenlock gpo created for 30 mins but random users locking after 2 or 3 mins

I have created a GPO to cause the machines to timeout simply using
User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization
Enable screen saver
Force specific screen saver (tried adding one & also leaving as blank)
Password protect the screen saver
Screen saver timeout to 1800 seconds
But some users complain the screen lock is coming on as short as 30 secs
Any ideas ?????

Hi,
this might also be related to power options.
On the affected computers, chekc using gpresult if the gpo does apply as intended. If so check the power options.

You have to slide to unlock to bring up the keyboard if a passcode is set. If you can't slide then try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

If it's not locked, and it doesn't require a passcode to use it, then you don't have a passcode. Also, if you don't have a backup then I suggest you use iTunes on your computer to make a backup before you have to restore it because you don't know your passcode.

I was looking through some resources and think I have found something that will help resolve this issue.
It is our iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant and can be found here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/.
I recommend starting at step 1 and working your way down from there.
Restart iPhone
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.
When you come to step 3, and the article has you close the App, I recommend closing all Apps.

Messages are flagged for follow-up, but the user didn't flag them.

I have two users who are complaining that messages they didn't flag are showing up as flagged in their To-Do bars. The odd thing is that the flagged messages are only present if they are not in Cached mode, or if they check OWA. Both users are
also able to access a XenDesktop non-persistent virtual desktop, which presents Outlook in non-Cached mode. When they access Outlook via XenDesktop, the erroneously flagged messages are present. If they use Outlook in Cached mode, the messages
don't appear on their To-Do bar. Our organization doesn't permit PST files, so neither users has a PST. One user mentioned that it he noticed it after he re-ordered some tasks in the To-Do bar by drag-and-drop.

Hello,
The flag is only an attribute for an email. If online mode and OWA show that the emails are flagged, it means the flag attribute is set to true on the Exchange mailbox.
For this kind of issues, I will check:
1. If the mailbox is shared with other users and the emails are flagged by them. (Any delegates)
2. If there are any third-party add-ins on Outlook that may flagged the emails.

User account folder present, but no user account after TM restore

I did a reinstall of my OS last night, wiped the drive and reinstalled.
Then i used migration assistant to restore from time machine backup.
I was not allowed to use my old username and data because I had setup using the same when the OS first started. So I changed the name to add my "Jr." and changed the Short Name to "Radmac" where before it was "Rad".
Woke up this morning to start working and "radmac" is in the user folder, but the account is not in System Prefs, thus not accessible.
I could drag everything to the other account, but is there some way to access this user data just by setting up the account again?

Based on my research, user profile is only generated/loaded during Interactive logon process. Interactive logon is intended for users who are interactively using the machine, who can run applications/programs on the machine and
see the full desktop. Logon type for Interactive logon is 2 (locally), and logon type for RemoteInteractive logon is 10 (Terminal Services).
Logon type 3 indicates a Network Logon, which only provides network access to the destination computer, for example, accessing a shared word document.
Therefore, there aren’t user profiles for those users who have Netwok Logon events logged on the machine.

Reservation is created for item category N

Hi friends,
While attaching the material to activity in Cj20n, Reservation is created for that material but the thing is that it ia a non stock material and also I done default item category as N (non stock item) in T.ID OPS8 and attached it to network profile, according to the configration system should generate the Purchase requisition but it is not like that system is created RESERVATION.
Is there any other setting? pls revert

I think you have to check the img and ensure that the network profile > procurement field is empty
img>ps>structures>network>settings for network>maintain network profiles>network tab> procurement field.
if this field is empty then you will get desired results that when use "N" item category, it only triggers Pur. Requisition

User lock persists for killed process

Hi,
We have an app that acquires a user lock (using dbms_lock, release_on_commit FALSE).
We needed to kill a session but it remained in v$session (KILLED), even after killing the OS process. Fine, I know it will clear up eventually.
But the user lock (UL) persists. Does anyone know how it can be force-released?
Calling dbms_lock.release (using handle in v$lock) fails, even as user SYS, the error being that the user does not own the lock. But the owning session is killed so who can release it?
Eventually the session (and lock) disappers from v$session/v$lock but can the lock be removed before then, to avoid a DB bounce in an urgent case?

If the process was truely KILLED and not MARKED FOR KILL then I do not know what could of happened. I cannot remember Oracle ever failing to release a user lock when the acquiring session was terminated. We use a fair number of UL; however, few of our processes have concurrent sessions that attempt to use the same UL. Mostly we just ensure that batch processes do not get submitted twice and that some on demand processes run single threaded or do not run if another customer has submitted the task.

Yes, he purchased Mountain Lion on his Apple ID. It is licensed to him. What he should have done was erase the HDD and install the system that the Mac shipped with. Erase and re-install either from Recovery Partition or the disks the Mac originally shipped with. Then, purchase ML with your own Apple ID and install.

I want to create for the first time ever an iPhoto library on my Mac Mini from all of my seperate external hard drives over the years. Instead of filling my Mac Mini hard drive space with all of the pics can I import it to a seperate Apple hard drive.

I want to creat for the first time on my Mac Mini an iPhoto library. I have many seperate hard drives with pics I want to import but are concerned I will fill the hard drive with pics alone. Can I install the pics on one larg (1TB) external apple hard drive and use iPhoto functions still with the pics being installed on a seperate drive from the iPhoto OS?

This is our resident iPhoto guru, Terence Devlin's, advice:
You can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Once that is done you can import directly into the iPhoto library on the external HD.

Log Miner is finding DDL for "new" tables, but also DML for "older" tables.

oracle 10.2.0.5.0 Standard Edition
(at some point in the past it was "downgraded" from enterprise edition).
It's making me crazy, i create a table then insert/update rows. Log miner only shows me the create.
However, if i do insert/update on an "older" table, i see the DML. The tables are in the same tablespace, both logging, and the database is forcing logging.
I'm out of ideas, and input would be appreciated.

apparently this is an issue with the database configuration and not log miner. I ran the same test against the prodcution database and got both the DDL and DML. I used exactly the same test script including the logminer "setup" , obviously changing the name of the log files and the name of a directory.

I created a 13 min Slide Show in iPhoto but have a question on adding music. I would like to add music clips that are set to change at the beginning of certian slides so that there is a varity of music during the show rather than a continuous theme clip. I know you can add multiple clips but can you pin them to change at a particular point in the program? Right now the music clips just run to their time limit and the next one starts. Isn't there a way to edit them the way it can be done in iMovie? Its frustrating to be able to create a nice slide show and not be able to manage the music background. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't have that fine grained control of the soundtrack in iPhoto. It's designed for a quick job, not a complex one.

I believe the issue is with the Apple ID that was used to purchase the App. If you download an App that was purchased under a different Appple ID then all updates will also be linked to the original purchaser's Apple ID. Your Apple ID is the the same ID as your iTunes, iCloud, etc. Some folks use different ID for the different Apple sites. No need for that One ID for all Apple Sites, and if someone else buys an App using their ID and they(you) download that App onto your device and that App requires an update it will ask for the purchasers Apple ID. This happens a lot when folks sell their iPad or give it to someone else and leave some purchased(free) Apps on the iOS device. You cannot change the original ID the App was purchased under. A suggestion would be if someone else has an App that you like but do not want to pay for use their ID or in the future have them gift the App to you.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.
