Screensaver Not Applying to All Workstations

Hi,
I setup our user policies to enforce a password protected screensaver
(logon.scr)under Windows Desktop Preferences setting. It seems to work
ok, but it isn't being applied to all workstations. The settings are
consistantly applied to most workstations, but there are some
workstations that just will not accept the settings. Has anyone run into
this particular problem before?
We're running Netware 6.5 sp4 and ZENworks 6.5 SP2. Workstations are XP
SP2 running the latest Agent and the "Always update destop settings on
eDirectory authentication" checkbox is selected.
Thanks,
John

Yes, I have seen this a lot when using Desktop Preferences. I prefer to
use group policies to distribute screensaver settings.
Do check under desktop prefs, the option, always update on edirectory
authentication. Make sure this is checked, it could help.

  • Formatting Critical Tasks (Text in Table) not applying across all columns

    All,
I am working on creating a schedule from multiple smaller schedules.  A few of these schedules had manual text formatting which I overwrote manually (selecting cells and changing text color).  Now when attempting to apply text styles to the critical
path the text styles will not apply to all Critical tasks or all columns visible.  I'm guessing I caused problems by manually changing the text color but I don't know how to fix it.  Please help!

All of the manual text formatting and re-formatting in cells has changed the default formatting in the Gantt Chart View.
Rather than fiddling with it, the best way is to recover the original formatting of the Gantt Chart View, and then if you want to modify it make a copy of that view, name the copy something like "AA Gantt Chart 01", and then format the text and bar
styles (not individual bits and pieces of cells and bars) of your new view. Include the "AA" or an underscore or something similar as part of the name so that your new views always go to the top of the list and you can always distinguish them
from the original ones that came out of the box.
Use the organiser to recover the original Gantt Chart View by pulling the Gantt Chart View from the global template. Now, MSP will not allow you to over-write the Gantt Chart View in your file while that view is the active view, so you will have to switch
to another view while you do it. Switch to the Tracking Gantt View, then File, Organiser. You see all of the clean stuff on the left hand side and all of the stuff in your file on the right.
In the future, leave the original views as they are. Also, leave the original tables, filters, groups, reports etc alone and if you need modified/customised versions of them make copies and change the copies. This is just good housekeeping. Also, do not
copy modified/customised views from your file into the global template ((or you will poison the well).
Hope this helps. Please mark as answer.

  • GPO not applied at all with build 9926

    Hello,
I have a Samba 4 Active Directory Domain controler. My LAN is composed of XP and 7 computers ; everything works well.
I also have tested previous builds of Windows 10, and had no particular problem with Group Policies.
With build 9926, my GPOs are not applied at all. It seems there is a big change making Group Policies not applied / not reloaded when users log in. Here are step by steps what I have noticed :
    0) At the very first log in, when I do a gpresult /V, i have a message saying something like "no rsop data for this user"
    1) I performed a gpupdate /force
    2) I performed another gpresult /V and then I got information about my GPO
    3) I logged out and logged in with same user --> my GPO is applied
    4) I modified my GPO to set new policy
    5) I loggged out and in again --> old policies are applied but new policy is not applied
    6) I performed gpresult /V --> new policy is not displayed
    7) I performed a gpupdate /force and then a gpresult /V --> new policy appears
    8) I loggged out and in again --> All policies, including the new one are applied
So it seems the GPOs are not automatically updated and applied when logging in, and I have to force them manually.
The good question is : WHY ? :)
    Thanks
    Will

    Hi Will799114,
I tested this in my environment, it seems a restart would apply group policy successfully, but a sign out and sign in would not trigger this procedure.

  • New Secondary and Higher education Cess  does not apply to all business!?

    Hi,
I know that for New Secondary and Higher education Cess we need to apply OSS Note (1032554 - Secondary and Higher Education Cess on Income Tax) as per the new legal change in India, an additional surcharge has been introduced for purposes of the Union, to be called the #Secondary and Higher Education Cess on income-tax#, calculated at the rate of one per cent.
I think this new cess is applicable across all industries. But, got feed back from client (project) that it does not apply to their business (Import and Trading) and this new cess can be rejected during passing the budget as bill.
Could you let me know reasonable justification  to implement this oss notes?

  • Metadata changes not applied to all selected images

    I am having 2 problems.
When I am in lightroom's library (3.5), I would like to change the time of capture for multiple photos, and apply keywords.
However, when I perform either of those actions, the changes are only applied to the image shown in the "more brightly highlighted" image, not all that are selected.
Is there a setting I am missing?  I just cannot seem to figure out why this is not working.
Also, I aplogize if my searching skills are weak and this has been covered already.  I did attempt to see if this question has been answered before posting.
    Thanks.

You need to be in Grid view to apply metadata to all selected images, otherwise LR will only apply it to the image shown in the main area. Alternatively, you can swith on AutoSync in Library.

  • GPO not applying to all users in the same security groups

If Elaine logs in on Angie's PC does it work?

Using Windows Server 2008 R1. I have a single domain with two DCs (both Server 2008 R1). Both DCs seem to be communicating without issues, as changes on one DC are replicating normally to the other for all services.I have a group policy set up to set drive mapping for my users. However when I run the GP modeling wizard only a few of the users receive the proper mappings. In this specific instance I have two users, Elaine and Angie. 1. Both are members of the Domain Users security group and another security group I created called Staff2. Neither user is a member of any other security groups.3. My group policy Security Filtering setting is set to apply the policy ONLY to the Staff security group4. When running the GP Results Wizard, Elaine's computer successfully processes the policy, but Angie's does not, and returns "Access Denied...

  • Screensaver not applying with 60+ minute timeout

I am having a strange issue with a screensaver GPO. The GPO is configured to apply the screensaver after 60 minutes and is a loop back policy to override the default 15 minute screen saver lock out. The problem is the screen saver doesn't come on when the
timeout is over 60 minutes. If I change it to anything less it works as expected, the current setting is for 55 minutes and is working. I have unplugged both keyboard and mouse to make sure nothing can reset the countdown. The PC is Windows 7 Pro an is part
of a 2012 R2 domain. I have checked the registry keys, tried it on different computers all the same result.

    Hi,
    >> The problem is the screen saver doesn't come on when the timeout is over 60 minutes. If I change it to anything less it works as expected, the current setting is for 55 minutes

For group policy screensaver settings are configured under User Configuration, here, I want to confirm if this phenomenon happens to all user accounts that apply the group
    policy screensaver settings.
Besides, we can try to clean boot the computer to check if this phenomenon occurs.

  • Problems with impromptu slideshow in lightroom 5, functions such as flagging, rating not applying to all selected images?

I'm using windows lightroom 5 and have just started to learn the programme.  I am using adobe photoshop lightroom 5 classroom in a book which is an official training workbook from Adobe so you'd think the instructions would work for the lessons but they don't. Is anyone else having problems getting ratings, flagging, colour labels to apply to selected images. Also the esc button doesn't take me back to the main working screen. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Can you zip up a few of your GoPro images, upload them to dropbox.com and post a share link, here, so others can experiment with them, or do you mean this issue is global to all camera models?

  • Footnote separator not applied to all chapters in a book

Using IDCS4, I have a multiple chapter book that has (hundreds of) footnotes. The editor has decided to change the distance between the footnote number and the text of the footnote. I've gone into the Footnote Options (in each chapter) and changed the separator to an en-dash, but it is being applied unevenly. Some chapters change the character that is in that slot (either a tab or space), but other chapters keep the original character. Is there something that would prevent the separator from being changed?
Also, in a Book, I know I can synchronize styles, but is there a way to have document options synchronized? For example, the footnote options, hyphenation options, etc. I want them all the same and I dislike having to manually change them in each chapter document.
    Thanks, Karyn

If you manually deleted the separator and replaced it with a different
    character it won't get changed.

Hyphenation settings are controlled by the settings in the paragraph
style so those will get changed when you synchronize the paragraphs.
Unfortunately, there is no way to synchronize th footnote options.

  • Windows 2008 R2 group policy not applied to windows 8 Workstations, but applied to XP and Win 7

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controllers and have a Policy to put a specify wallpaper, eventuality i have to change the Wallpaper, this setting applied sucesfully in Windows xp and Windows 7 workstations, but not applied in Windows 8 workstations even
    if i run gpupdate /forcé,
    Best Regards,
    Thank you

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in the forum.
Before going further, would you please let me know how did you configure the Group Policy setting to deploy the wallpaper? Have you configured some settings to limit the scope the GPO applying?
If all Windows 8 machines failed to receive the GPO settings? In order to narrow down the cause of the issue, I suggest we could try to collect the following information for troubleshooting.
    GPMC.log
    ==================
    a. On domain controller, click Start ->Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
    b. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select the proper
    user in the wizard)
    c. Right click
the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
Once we get the report, please check if the settings have been applied to the target correctly.
In addition, would you please let me know whether you have imported the latest Windows 8 Administrative Templates to the Windows Server 2008 DC? If not, please try to download and import it.
Then try to configure the wallpaper GPO settings again to see if it could help.
For details, please refer to the following articles.

  • How to create a custom control of a button where the look will be applied to all others but not the Boolean text?

    Hi all
I would like to create a customized button as a master so that if I change the look of the master all other buttons will change too.
I have done this with a custom control as a "strict type def" otherwise the look will not change BUT If I do this as a strict type def I cannot change the Boolean text anymore which should be different on every button.
How can I create a master control of a button where the look will be applied to all others but not the Boolean text?

    Steve Chandler wrote:
I don't think you can do that. I just looked and as I suspected the Boolean text property is read only for strict typedefs so you cannot use property nodes to change the text.
As a workaround just make it a typedef. When you want to change the look open the typedef and make it strict, make your changes, then make it non strict again. You will have to update the Boolean text again for all instances. Kind of a pain. Maybe this is something for the idea exchange.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Replication - not applying snapshot and not updating all repliacted columns

We are using transactional replicating on SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) using a remote distributor. We are replicating from BaanLN, which is an ERP application to up to 5 subscribers, all using push publications.
Tables can range from a couple million rows to 12 million rows and 100's of GBs in size.
And it's due to the size of the tables that it was designed with a one publisher to one table architecture.
Until recently it has been working very smooth (last four years)) but we have come across two issues I have never encountered.
While this has happen a half dozen times before, it last occurred a couple weeks ago when I was adding three new publications, again a one table per publication architecture.
We use standard SS repl proc calls to create the publications, which have been successful for years.
On this occasion replication created the three publications, assigned the subscribers and even generated the new snapshot for all three new publications.
However,  while it appeared that replication had created all the publications correctly from end to end, it actually only applied one of the three snapshot and created the new table on both of the new subscribers (two on each of the
publications).  It only applied the snapshot to one of the two subscribers for the second publications, and did not apply to any on the third.
I let it run for three hours to see if it was a back log issue.
Replication was showing commands coming across when looking at the sync verification at the publisher and
it would even successfully pass a tracer token through each of the three new publications, despite there not being tables on either subscriber on one of the publishers and missing on one of the subscribers on another.
I ended up attempting to reinitialize roughly a dozen times, spanning a day, and one of the two remaining publications was correctly reinitialized and the snapshot applied, but the second of the two (failed) again had the same mysterious result, and
again looked like it was successful based on all the monitoring.
So I kept reinitializing the last and after multiple attempts spanning a day, it too finally was built correctly.
Now the story only get a little stranger.  We just found out yesterday that on Friday the 17th
at 7:45, the approximate time started the aforementioned deployment of the three new publications,
we also had three transaction from a stable and vetted publication send over all changes except for a single status column.
This publication has 12 million rows and is very active, with thousands of changes daily.
, The three rows did not replicate a status change from a 5 to a 6.
We verified that the status was in fact 6 on the publisher, and
5 on both subscribers, yet no messages or errors.  All the other rows successfully updated.
We fixed it by updating the publication from 6 back to 5 then back to 6 again on those specific rows and it worked.
The CPU is low and overall latency is minimal on the distributor.
From all accounts the replication is stable and smooth, but very busy.
The issues above have only recently started.  I am not sure where to look for a problem, and to that end, a solution.

I suspect the problem with the new publication/subscriptions not initializing may have been a result of timeouts but it is hard to say for sure.  The fact that it eventually succeeded after multiple attempts leads me to believe this.  If this happens
again, enable verbose agent logging for the Distribution Agent to see if you are getting query timeouts.  Add the parameters
-OutputVerboseLevel 2 -Output C:\TEMP\DistributionAgent.log to the Distribution Agent Run Agent job step, rerun the agent, and collect the log.
If you are getting query timeouts, try increasing the Distribution Agent -QueryTimeOut parameter.  The default is 1800 seconds.  Try bumping this up to 3600 seconds.
Regarding the three transactions not replicating, inspect MSrepl_errors in the distribution database for the time these transactions occurred and see if any errors occurred.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 - ALL HF's Failing to install as "Does Not Apply to this computer"

    Hi,
A general question about hot fix installs.
I have multiple servers that are all Windows 2012 R2. They do not have internet connections, so I have to install the Hotfixes manually. I download the HF's from the ISO download page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/913086) every month. I collect them and install in a bulk install during a release cycle ( a couple times a year). I just realized that NO HF's have installed since JUNE 2014. Every HF that shows up in WindowsServer2012R2 directory fail to install with a message of "The update is not applicable to your computer". Which is fine if that was true, but.... I get this message for every HF from the ISO's since June 2014. NOT one HF thinks it is applicable to my computer. Could that be the case? No HF's apply to my Server 2012 systems since June of 2014?
