Screensaver Password stopped working

I recently upgraded to Leopard (two weeks ago). Today, my MBP stopped asking for a password after the screensaver comes on. I've turned it off and on several times, but no luck.
Any ideas?

You might try moving the "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" file from your user library to the desktop, then open system preferences and enable the screensaver password. See if that helps. The user library is the one in your home directory, and the preference file will be in the residing "Preferences" folder.

  • My apple password stopped working this morning and I had to reset it.  Why did this happen?

When I got up this morning my apple password no longer worked and I had to reset it.  Why did this happen?  Do I need to be worried about my account being compromised?

Only other users here. Apple is not here. Apple does not answer questions here. We have no idea about why the password stopped working.

My apple password stopped working at iTunes Store -what do I do

    Hi baxter@7058,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I would suggest signing out of your iTunes Store account from the Settings app on your iPhone.  Then go to the  My Apple ID website to see if you can log in with your Apple ID and password.  You may need to reset it.

  • App password stopped working after IOS7 update

iPhone:  3rd party app purchased via iTunes App Store.  "My Disk" worked great, until I did the IOS7 update, then the password stopped working.
Creator, "Weihe Mo" will not answer emails or FaceBook IM's.  I'm at my wit's end.  Is there any way to break through a password for an App?

So the password for the app is no longer letting you into the App? You were right to contact the app developer for support, because it is a non-Apple applicaiton. Apple has nothing to do with the app or being able to make it work. Keep hounding the developer for support, that is your only avenue of approach for this.

  • Why did my Apple TV password stop working suddenly and why does changing my iTunes account password online not fix the problem?

My iTunes account password suddenly stopped working. Strangely, it still works when I sign into iTunes but does not work when I try to purchase a movie through Apple TV. I followed the instructions to change my password and that still didn't fix the problem. Anybody encounter this? What's frustrating is that Apple wants to charge me a fee for tech support. You mean I have to pay them to help me give them more money to buy temporary content through my Apple TV? Anywho, please assist if you can.

Have you tried restarting, the Apple TV, your router and your mac or PC.

  • Why does my password stop working on the yahoo site

My mail button pulls up my Yahoo mail account; however, the password will work for 1-2 days and then stops.  It will then resume functioning several days later.  I can still access my Yahoo mail account via the web, using that same password without problem.  It appears there may be an issue with my Mac Air. Thoughts?

    Hello, experimentum.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This could be an issue with 2-Step verification being enabled through Gmail.  Here are a couple articles that may help with this issue.  If the issue persists, I would recommend reaching out to Gmail.com to verify if this feature is enabled.

  • My admin password stopped working. Can't restart in recovery and tried terminal but need more specific guidance there. Am operating macbook from external drive

My macbook pro admin password has stopped working.  Can't start it in recovery mode and am having no success with terminal command although I could do with more in depth instruction on that.  Have been operating it from an external drive (Yosemite) for 3 months after a stuck reinstall of mavericks and it was working fine till last week.  I am currently downloading another copy of Yosemite with a view to trying to install it on my internal hard drive which has been erased.  Help

    Hey JustSomeGuy,
Thanks for the response. It is the external drive that has the data I need to keep. Reboot did not do it...
What I did get done just now is going into Safe Mode and delete the problematic files there and Empty Trash. That worked - so one step closer hopefully. I did not do the .DS Store files (will do that after done writing this).
How do I do a copy with cp rather than the finder?
Repair permissions is grayed out in DiskUtil - I did do a Disk Repair in Safe Mode and that turned up without error. However, now back in normal mode - Disk Repair gives an error again saying that the drive cannot be unmounted.
Thanks for the help so far.
    Cheers

  • EA6500 router password stop working when on Internet

My issue is pretty simple but really hard to understand on a logic standpoint.
I have a new EA6500 (v1), I hooked it up to the network and set it up using the default router password which is "admin". I set up the PPPOE connection for my internet and then, as soon as it is connected to the internet, I'm not able to connect to 192.168.1.1 anymore because it says my router password is invalid. If I just unplug the WAN cable and refresh it, the router password now works.
I tried changing it and it keeps working only if the router is not connected to internet. When it is connected to internet, I click the "local access mode" but get the same "invalid router password" error. If I connect using my Smart Wi-Fi account, I get a "error_gets_network" error that disappears after ~1sec and then it goes back to connection page, or sometimes it will just ask for the router password which won't work anyway.
I have the latest firmware but I still manually reinstalled it without any success. I tried a few hard resets too but the problem is still here and it is really annoying since I can't go to the router settings without unplugging the WAN cable from the router. And I can't link my smart Wifi account either obviously since the router password isn't recognized anymore if I'm on internet.
    Any ideas??
I tried with latest version of Google Chrome (cleared cache and everything, and since it's working when the router is not plugged to internet, I don't think it's a browser problem). The interface doesn't work at all with latest IE version (even in compatibility mode, the interface keeps telling me to download the latest version of IE, that's really ironic).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
    Enable phishing and malware protection

  • Why passwords stop working

I have a Mac Mini server running 10.8.5 and it has been exhibiting very strange behaviour. I was no longer able to access the server with the administrative and root password. I performed a password reset with the reset tool and regained control of the server. I did not find anything else out of order so I put it to bad documentation of passwords (ie someone changed the passwords and didn't update the file). I got another report that the password for a user account that was created a week ago no longer worked but once the password was reset everything is running ok.
I don't see any unknown apps running in activity monitor.
    Other possible issue (not sure)
In the alerts window and there is a new certificate that says that it will expire in 8 days. It is a self signed certificate using the same name as the certificate from a known SSL. If I try to delete the self signed certificate it complains that it is in use by Jabber (which I didn't install but appears to belong to a package from Apple). Messaging is not active only Filesharing and website.
What could be causing the passwords to no longer work?
What is Jabber used by Apple?

  • Hi, I'm running my macbook from an external hard drive (Os yosemite) due to bad reinstall of mavericks. It was fine for a while then admin Password stopped working and i tried all ways to retrieve it. I want to install os back onto internal drive.

Due to a bad install of Mavericks, my macbook was just on a loop.  I correctly formatted a new external drive and installed Yosemite there and was able to retrieve my files onto the external drive. So for a while I was able to run my mac from the os on the external drive and it was fine. I built up enough courage to clear the internal hard drive. or so i thought.  It will no longer recognize my admin password and I can't gain access through my Apple store and iCloud password so I have effectively been locked out. i have tried all suggested ways to deal with that.  I can't seem to install the os from my external drive on to the macbook internal drive.  My dvd/cd player hasn't worked for a long time so I can't install a snow leopard disc and upgrade from there.  I really need help here.  thanks

Tried this just now, but it didn't work. I copied it to my internal drive, but if I then selected that file and told it to open in iTunes, it played the one on my external drive.
However, it was possible to play the copied movie in QuickTime Player. I wonder, though, would that approach work with a rented movie? The movie I was using was one I bought from iTunes.

  • App express passwords stopped working

Are the passwords to log into application express different from those in the host database? If not, why can't I log into app express with sys and system passwords? I can't even log in with the HR demo passwords.
I have a local 9i test database on which I installed application express. The combination had been working well enough to create new users, import spreadsheets, etc. That was about 2 months ago and because of time commitments I have not been able to use it since. Till now.
When I tried to log in earlier this week, with my well documented passwords (yes, I did write them down), none of them would work. I could not even log in with sys or system or other dba passwords that I use. However, I can log into my 9i database with sqlplus as well as sqldeveloper and enterprise manager console as the test users I was using for app express.
So, any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this????
Are the passwords for app express stored in special tables separate from where they are stored in the 9i database? (Somehow, I doubt it). If so how do I reset them??
Or is my only choice to drop the flows_xxxxx tables and reinstall them?
I would really like to track down what happened before I start relying heavily on App express.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Glenn

    Hi Scott
As I said at the beginning of this thread, I was once able to enter both as admin and as user. Because of other commitments, a considerable amount of time passed where I wasn't able to spend time with App Express.
When I started this thread, I was not able to log in with the passwords I had written down (including upper/lower case) for either admin or workspace.
Somehow, over the last two days, something changed and I was able to connect as admin. I immediately changed all the passwords - simplified them - such as admin/admin and also created two more users with admin privs.
Today, I can no longer connect on the admin page - BUT I can can connect with my user identity to the user / pass / workarea secton. Go figure.
Our local systems are so heavily locked down, I can't help but feel that something in the security settings is interfering.
However, no more time will be wasted on this system. Our servers just got upgraded to 10g so I am now waiting for my computer to be reimaged so I can get rid of the multiple local databases and install a personal 10 for development work.
    Thanks for your help.

  • WPA password stopped working for WIFi

This is a weird one. I'm staying at someone's home and using their WFi network with my MBP, iPhone and iPad. Everything has been fine until today. The iphone and iPad continue to work fine, but the MBP no longer connects. Airport now asks for the WPA password but will not accept it - I just get "connection timeout". I'm runnng Snow Leopard. I've seen others in the forum with similar problems, but no solutions. What could be the problem? Nothing has been changed in any settings!
    thanks

You're typing in the wrong password or typing it in incorrectly. Ask the someone to verify the password in their router's admin setup. BTW WPA passwords are very weak. Tell them to use WPA2

  • Autocomplete/Autofill passwords stopped working after Firefox 30 update

after updating, sites that have autocomplete set to "off" no longer fill in passwords even though the autocomplete prefs in about:config are still set to "true". everything was working fine before updating to Firefox 30.
does this have something to do with it?
    * https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Security/Securing_your_site/Turning_off_form_autocompletion
i'm unable to view "bug 956906" if i click on the link. [update: if i copy/paste the link into a new tab it loads fine - strange.]
    thanks

Well, spoke too soon, in my case, it was a conflicting extension called "Super Start" that caused the issue...after a lot of tryal and error disabling and enabling extensions and testing on dozens of sites, I get to the conclusion that in my case, that was te issue.
Uninstalling "Super Start" solved the issue for me.
This is the extension URL https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/super-start/
