Screensaver starts while while watching Quicktime Movies

We've got kind of aproblem with my friend's eMac 1.25:
The screensaver starts while while watching Quicktime movies.
Does anyone know why this happens (without putting the mouse in the "screensaver-corner"!)?

I didn't try it with iMovie, but this must be the same problem. And it is only a problem with the eMac, not with my iMac (G4 or G5 doesn't matter).
Changing the perfs for the screensaver to 2 hours or never isn't really the solution, because I'd like the screensaver to do his job, when the Mac is not in use (but don't like him when the Mac is in use)...

    1) Open the folder Macintosh HD/Users/your_user/Library/Preferences
    2) In this folder, search the file com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    3) Open it with Textedit
    4) Search for this string (without the quotes) "<key>application/x-shockwave-flash</key>"
    5) On this section, change the "<true/>" string to "<false/>" (without the quotes)
    6) Save and quit Textedit
    7) Relaunch Safari and ENJOY!!!!

  • While I watch shows/movies on Apple TV, I get the message: iTunes not available. Please try again later.

I have Apple TV v.2.0. Recently-when I'm watching TV shows or movies from iTunes-the video suddenly stops and the following message appears on screen: iTunes not available. Please try again later. What can I do to fix this? I've been using Apple TV for more than 5yrs, and I've never had this issue until recently.

    Hi timsamt,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Apple TV. From what I gather from your description (intermittent issue, occurs with iTunes content, no specific pattern), it sounds like it may be some sort of intermittent network connectivity issue. If that is the case, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful:

  • Importing Quicktime movies into IMovie

I have some Quicktime movies that are 868.4 MB in size and when I import them into Imovie they take approximatley 2 hours to import.
Is there a way of speeding up the process.
I have QT Pro and have tried editing the movie prior to import but the resulting file although smaller in size plays back as a green screen.
Can anyone suggest a solution. QT Pro doesnt seem to have a SPLIT feature in it like IMovie.

Why don't you just start the import at night, and let it run while you sleep? That will probably be the easiest solution.
To edit in Quicktime, copy-and-paste works the best. Open your clip, and then start a second blank Quicktime movie. Select the portion you want to use by marking the in and out points (I and O keyboard shortcuts), cut, then select your other window, and paste. Then export the pasted clip as DV stream for easy import into iMovie. Repeat for each clip. Or select the sections you don't want, and cut them from your original movie.

  • Quicktime Movies on iPod?

is there a way to watch quicktime movies on the iPod (movies ive taken from my digital camera from ski trips, etc) and if so, how? I have the newest gen iPod nano.
    Many thanks

is there a way to watch quicktime movies on the iPod (movies ive taken from my digital camera from ski trips, etc) and if so, how?
Yes. The question of how, however, depends on the compression format used by your digital camera and what software you have available. Most compression formats, if that can be played by the QT player and are "conversion" compatible, can be converted by iTunes. Simply import the file to iTunes, highlight the imported file, and use the "Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone" Advanced menu option to create an iPod compatible file. There are some exceptions however. If you have a Sony digital camera using MPEG VX (MPEG-1), for instance, you audio will be lost using this work flow. Instead try using either iSquint or MPEG Streamclip. Both are free conversion applications that can be downloaded from the Internet. QT Pro also has an iPod export option and iMovie and GarageBand can also access an iPod export option if you have iLife installed. Again, these QT applications, like iTunes, cannot export "muxed" formats and retain audio.

Pandora starts playing randomly while I am on the net or while watching a movie. How do I fix this problem? Thanks.

Double click the home button and swipe the mini Pandora up to make sure it's closed. If it still keeps playing randomly delete and reinstall the Pandora app.

  • Watching iTunes Movie on Apple TV while streaming sound to multiple AirPlay speakers

    Hi Everyone,
I bought a pair of Airplay speakers and Apple TV 3rd generation to watch my Movies in the iTunes library. Importantly, I want to listen to the movies sound on multiple Airplay speakers while watching. So far I couldn't activate the speakers, once I started the movie.
Has anyone an idea, how to do that?

Thanks a lot for your answer.
I'm doing signal processing and work with videos professionally. The audio signal is technically always separated (and extractable) from the video frames. I don't see why  the audio shouldn't be possible to be distributed to different airplay clients?
Do you mean that this option is just not supported by apple? In this case, do you know if it is at least possible to stream to multiple apple TV's at the same time?

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS6 hangs while encoding Quicktime movies

Every day I am enoding 2-3 videos 15-40 min long with AME CS6 and every second day it freezes or slows down to almost zero. The source material is mostly Quicktime ProRes 422 LT 1080 25p or Quicktime XDCAM EX 1080 25p. Target files are H264 videos in different sizes. The workstation is a MacPro 5.1 Xeon 8core, 12GB Ram and Nvidia Quadro 4000 with OSX 10.8.2. Only restart of the computer helps but just for a while then it slows down or freezes again. I am also using Davinci Resolve 9 lite which is sometimes not able to adress the QTencoder when AME is open ... ?
    Any Ideas for a solution?
    Thank you!

I think it is a problem of Adobe QT32 Server. Adobe Media Encoder is encoding all Quicktime Movies through this Adobe QT32 Server, which is somehow the link between Adobe and Quicktime. But since Adobe QT32 Server is a 32bit application and Adobe Media Encoder a 64bit application it somehow blocks the Media Encoder. And if you have other applications running which somehow try to use Quicktime codec when Media Encoder is using the Adobe QT32 Server than everything slows down or collapses. These are my observations so far. I avoid any other video application as long as AME is open. For example: I close Davinci Resolve when I want to launch AME and close AME when I want to launch Davinci Resolve. This helps so far.

  • IMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), possible?

iMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), is it possible with Lion?

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way.   As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external.  This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.

  • HT5731 can I begin watching a movie on itunes while it is still downloading?

Can I begin watching a movie I just rented while it is still downloading?

I believe that you should be able to, but if you don't have a fast Internet connection, the movie may pause while it is still being downloaded.

  • How do i raise the volume on my mac watching a movie while on FaceTime?

When im on facetime with my brother sometimes we watch movies together because he's far away so we like to keep in touch with watching movies. Now when we facetime and watch a movie, my mac just turns every other sound volume lower and facetime higher. Is there a way where i can make it so that they are at the same level or where i can at least control each and one of them?

Did you try to press the volume up button on the side while on a call?
Did you make sure that nothing covers the speaker on top of the screen, for example if you're using a case around your phone?

  • Alert box while watching videos/movies, etc

This has been happening for a while and it doesn't cause any problems, but I'm concerned by the fact that I don't know what it says. When I'm watching videos or movies on my MacBook there's a message box that pops up and then goes away. It goes away so fast that I literally can't even make out one word that's in it. It doesn't matter how I'm watching the movies... Netflix, Hulu, playing a DVD, etc. Has anyone seen this before and know what it's saying?

I have no idea what is the small pop up window have alert for you and this goes quickly, why dont you prepare example use ur ipad video record it face to ur mac screen hope this shown on ur ipad,u needs timing to pick this up and u can read it,u pause the recording once u saw it on ur ipad...this  is ur only  chance to read it.
