ScreenSaver Still Stays On After Upgrading to 10.6.7

Hi,
I manage a lab of 88 computers at Santa Clara University. After upgrading from 10.5.8 to version 10.6.7 the screensaver stays on after I have disabled it in the system preferences. I've tried to delete the preference files in both the user profiles and the main drive Byhost, and Preference on main drive screensaver plist anything that says screensaver I've delted and the thing still comes on. Really frustrating!
If any of you can send step by step instructions and where things are located I'd appreciate very much.
I'm using an iMac about four years old.

TS4510 'Do not disturb' moon icon still stay on after my scheduled time.

I thought the 'Do not disturb' issue should have solved until I recently slide the 'Do Not Disturb' back to 'ON' and found that the moon icon still stay on after my scheduled time. Restarted the iphone5 (already running iOS 6.1.3) still showed the moon icon.
If the 'Do Not Disturb' is slide to OFF, with a schedule period being set (e.g. 22:00 - 07:00). The moon icon still appear from 22:00, no noise.
If the 'Do Not Disturb' is slide to ON, moon icon always show, phone still ring outside the scheduled period.
Is it what the 'Do Not Disturb' designed to work like this now?

I think the above tests should proof that the 'Do Not Disturb' is not working except showing a moon icon.

Flv export still not available after upgrade

After upgrading to Flash CS3 the option to export to flv is
still not available on my Intel Mac from Quicktime Pro or Final Cut
Pro 5.1.14. I upgraded with the understanding that the new version
would be universal binary and would offer this ability that was
there on PPC Macs. Is anyone else having this problem?

Well i solved it my self i just reinstalled the upgrade v30.0.018 and it works just fine now :-D

My ipad will not stay activated after upgrading from version 7 to version 8.

After upgrading from version 7 to version8 I cannot keep my ipad activated. I have tried online tech support and visited an Apple store with no one able to tell me what is happening. Some said it might be had ware problems. Other say it might be software problems. With vs 7 I never had the problem.. I have anolder ipad with vs 5 and do not have the problems. any feed back from anyone.

Why is my Macbook still slow even after upgrading

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this has been answered before but here goes.
So I have a Macbook 2.4GHz (13.3-inch Intel Core 2 Duo "Penryn") - Early 2008. Have been using it for the past 6 years without any issues. However during the past 1 year I've noticed that it has started to run slower and slower. Even simple task such as opening Safari might take longer than usual. I do not have much application installed as I only used that computer for surfing the net and making Words & spreadsheet documents. I have about 200GB of free hard disk space out of the 250GB standard HDD along with 2 GB of ram. After doing some research around the forum, I decided it might be a good idea to upgrade the HDD to a faster 7200rpm 750GB HDD drive as well as replacing the ram with new 2x2GB modules. I also did a fresh install of OS X Mountain Lion 10.6.8 (I did not install any other applications). But to no avail, it seems that the computer is still laggy and isn't as snappy as couple of years back. And by laggy I mean that opening pre-installed applications on the Mac such as iPhoto and Safari might still take 4-6 "icon bounces" to open.
So my question is,
1) What might still be causing the lag?
2) Are there any other components on a Macbook that might cause it to slow down?
3) Does components like the CPU degrade over time?
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Your computer isn't getting slower, it's other things demanding faster. If you are installing all the possible updates to software those will be designed for newer computers. Once you start browsing you're browsing a web designed by people who because they spend all their time designing pages they themselves have powerful machines with fast connections because it is their job. It's like if all city streets were designed by racecar drivers. A 2008 computer is already considered vintage by Apple and close to no longer being supported in any manner. Vintage and obsolete products - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1752 I have an even older computer than you and it is annoying but that's the way things are.
Frankly 4-6 icon bounces doesn't sound long to me. Don't forget that for applications such as iTunes how long it takes to open will also depend upon the size of the library.
I don't think CPUs wear down. Conceivably some slow-down could be the result of excessive bad sectors on a hard drive but you say you replaced that (and I would expect it to have shown more serious symptoms were that happening).
You can use Activity monitor to check your RAM usage. Newer applications and newer OS versions will require much more RAM than posted "minimum" If a computer doesn't have enough RAM it starts using the hard drive which is slower than chips.

E17 edje still not working after upgrade

Well, e-cvs seems to be ok on my laptop now. Still an issue in the battery module, excess space between the battery icon and status text, but that's minor. edje-cvs still doesn't seem to work for me. I get an "ERROR: Invalid root filename" when I try to edje_decc filename.edj, but that's been like that since after edje-cvs-20080218 so I didn't file a bug report as nothings really changed. Anyone else having this problem?
Edit: BTW, I just downloaded pressh's Kandy.edj and tried to edje_decc it and got the same "ERROR:Invalid root filename" but it works on other downloaded .edj files with 20080218 ??????

Now I'm really confused--well not too badly.
I upgraded back to edje-cvs-20080327 and now I can edje_decc Kandy.edj. The original problem only happens now with a custom theme I was working on but I can edje that with edje-cvs-20080218 and not 0327 so it must be something specific to that file. It also happened to a chrome.edj that I customized from get-e.org but when I did a fresh download, no more problems. Another customized theme I did will edje_decc no problem either with 0327. Kinda weird but probably specific only to me so not to worry.
As far as the battery module thing here are two screenshots showing Kandy and chrome themes with the text spaced way to the right of the battery icon. This is on my desktop so no status shows but you can see the spacing issue. I tried your previous suggestion in another post and and changing the spacing line in battery.edc didn't help at all. But when I use e-cvs-20080218 there is no space between the text and battery.

Btw, pressh, if you want to check that custom theme that won't decompress it's posted on e17-stuff.org as Star Theme. EDIT: I just had an idea that worked. I decompressed my custom theme with 0218 and then compressed with 0327 and now it behaves properly.
I guess I'll repost my theme on e17-stuff.org so that it is usable by the new edje-cvs.

APP wont stay open after upgrade to 120GB HDD, Help

I just upgraded my main HDD to a 120GB seagate drive, everything seems to be working fine until I open my flash and photoshop and other programs. flash will not stay open, as soon as it opens it quits right away. I re-installed the program and re-start the computer but it still does the same thing. Other program like photoshop and InDesign says it can not sync with the color pallet because the file is missing. I used color sync utility and repaired all profiles. but photoshop and indesign still says they can not sync color due to missing files.
Does anyone have exprience with this problem? All my other apple apps seems to be functioning normally.

PS: when I upgraded to the 120GB HDD, I installed osx tiger on the new drive and used migration assistant to transfer all the data from the old 30GB HDD.

Satellite P70-A-L1M WiFi indicator stays ON after upgrade to Win 8.1

Hello.
After updating to Windows 8.1 wireless indicator always stays on (red light), no matter if WiFi is actually on or off. When I press f12 key, WiFi goes to Airplane Mode, I have an apropriate message in Windows, everything is ok.
But the LED is on anyway.
In Windows 8 it worked as it should be.
All drivers are up to date.
Is there is any way to resolve it?

Disabled BT separetly. After that disabled WiFi - the result is the same. Tried to disable wifi using f12 button - nothing...May be there should be some kind of BIOS support for this feauture. But there is still no BIOS update for my laptop since its release.

The back and forward button stay disabled after upgrading to Firefox 4

I upgraded to Firefox 4 and the back and forward buttons are never enabled. I see them, but they are not working.
History works, recently closed pages work, bookmarks work.
I disabled all addons, uninstalled FF4, deleted \Program Files\Firefox, re-installed, kept extensions disabled, removed all backups from bookmarkbackups, deleted places.sqlite and still nothing.
What else can I do?

Screensaver does not start after upgrading to 10.7

Since upgrading to 10.7 my screensaver does not start either by hot corner or automatically. I can get it to test from the preference pane, any suggestions?

Okay.... Sorry for calling the technology airplay vice AirPrint. I have done all the standard power reset and wireless tips (i.e.delete the wireless network, re-add the wireless network, even monitored the RF frequency spectrum to make sure nobody is stomping on my wireless signal, solid 32Mbits over a Cisco 1811w). I have over 28 years in networking experience. So, I assume you all the basic stuff has been covered. Before our Apple devices got upgraded to IOS7 (2 IPads and 2 iPhones), we had no problems printing to our Brother HL-5450DN series printer (updated to the latest firmware). I strongly believe it has something to do with the AirPrint discovery process as shared in my last post. My next step is to enable port mirroring and monitor the packet exchange using wireshark or tcpdump. This will probably have to wait until the weekend.

CPS 8 (M33) still showing M28 after Upgrade

Hi,
We deployed the new CPS 8.0 (M33) SCA on a Development 7.01 system system with existing M28 version. When I check the component list of the Java System Info, I see Scheduler version as M33( all the REDWOOD components upgraded to CPS 8 )
But when we open CPS, it is still showing the active build as: M28.19-36439.
Please let me know if there is a way to update the version to M33

We are also planning to CPS 33 from CPS 28. What are the prerequisite / pre processing you did before upgrading.
Also please let me know if there are any post processing steps.
I have gone through CPS docs, bt i didnot found any upgrade documentation.
Did you also follow installation guide ( steps in installation guide) for upgrading to M33.

Desktop Won't Stay Arranged (after upgrade to Tiger)

I just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.10, and all is perfect except for the desktop arrangement. The old 10.3 desktop was 4 columns of 36x36 icons arranged as "keep arranged by type". The new 10.4 desktop (also "keep arranged by type") is 3 columns of icons, with multiple icons stacked on the upper right corner icon. The icon stack happens because there are too few columns to hold all the icons.
The only way to get 4 columns again is to select "snap to grid" and drag & drop from the stack of icons to make another column. Nothing is arranged by type. If I select "keep arranged by type" then it reverts back to 3 columns with stacked icons in the upper right corner. This is totally different behavior than what I had with 10.3, and I can't seem to get back to 4 columns of icons arranged by type.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure how you went about the installation, but something obviously did not go right. Here's what I suggest:
1. Repair Disk Permissions
While booted from your internal HDD
Go to (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left column and First Aid in main column.
Click Repair Disk Permissions at bottom left.
2. Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
3. If neither of the above make a difference download and install Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo update (PPC). Then Repair Disk Permissions as in 1. above.
Please do post back with an update or further questions or comments.

Imovie 9.0.9 still on Mac after upgrade

I have updated my Mac to Mavericks and installed all the updates.
I have iMovie but I also have an iMovie 9.0.9 folder with the old program in it (this is 1.32 Gb) Can I delete this application and folder?

All the previous imovie event and project folders are there as well - iMovie 10 imports all your existing events and projects into a new library specifically for iMovie 10, rather than converting them in-situ. This new library is akin to the iTunes library - you can see the contents with "Show Package Contents" - rather than it being plain old folders.
I guess because iMove 10 is a big UI change from the previous version, Apple are being polite and allowing users to revert back to the old version without having to reinstall and re-extract files - if they don't like or have issues with the new iMovie 10.
That said, if like me you have a large amount of iMovie content, creating a brand new copy of all this media in this way means I now have two copies (2 x 250GB!) on disk - all now hitting my Time Machine devices!
Anticipating this, Apple also provide a tip on removing the iMovie 9 folders at your leisure - here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5917

I suggest turning off locations services, wifi, turn on "Auto brightness", and under Diagnostics & Usage, tick "don't send". By doing this I have increase my battery life from less than one day, to almost two days now. It doesn't seem to be a huge secret that the more apps using locations services, or sending data every 15 minutes tends to use up the battery really fast. I don't care if someone posts on facebook, or twitter, I don't want anyone tracking my phone, I don't use iCloud. But I do text alot, I check email about every 4 hours or more, and I do rack up some time on the internet.

Contact list not showing up after upgrade to iOS5

Just upgraded to iOS5 now my contact list is blank but the contacts still show up on incoming calls and text messages. I have the iPhone4 and yes I have reset the phone. Any clue how to get them to list again in the contact area? Thanks for any help!

My contacts were still in place after upgrading to 5, but I could not get into them. Clicking on a name would just freeze the Address Book. Some other thread here suggested the "soft reset", holding down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and power cycling the phone. That solved the problem for me.
