Screenshot pictures a violation of privacy?

I don't know if I can get the answer here, but it's worth a shot. There is someone taking screen shots of a private group chat that my sister and I are part of. The individual suspected of sharing the conversations to outside people has since been removed from the group, but the damage has already been done. Many of the group members are afraid that what has been said will tarnish their business and reputation online and it has already caused my little sister some serious problems and has even been removed from a position she worked real hard for, though she isn't at fault for anything and only guilty by association. Is this "evidence" they're using against her from a private group chat room on a third party (Skype) an invasion of privacy or, by the terms of Skype use, is this a permissable act?

Copyrights? From my limited Knowledge about copyrights, I can understand it when it comes to music, or movies, but InApp purchases?
Why are other online companies, like eBay, amazon, are able to do it while apple can't? Why does apple have the restriction in a country that does not have an apple, iTunes Store? Why can't Apple have an alternative to those rules.
Why can't I buy from a local store while I am visiting that country?
And why is apple violate my privacy by using location services reading my IP address while I have that turned off.

Creating a PDF from Word 2003: recommended settings for screenshot pictures without artifacts?

My Word 2003 document shows screenshots from text dialogs (some 100% and some in reduced size).
While the quality of the pictures is good in the MS Word viewer, my created PDFs show artifacts mainly at the black texts:
the single characters are eroded or dilated!
The viewing quality does not increase if I zoom in (e. g. to 200%).
I tried settings without picture compression, but there are still artifacts.
a) I add the screenshots via copy&paste using a snipping tool (= "snagit").
Can I improve the import of pictures to Word?
b) How can I select PDF creator settings which do not apply any compression (= original bitmap)?
Or is it the priciple of PDF to compress the pictures anyway?

I generally just print to the Adobe PDF printer, but then I am generally not using links and such (actually I don't tend to use MS products and thus don't even have PDF Maker in my applications. However, the bookmarks and links are the most useful to a lot of folks. The tags provide the accessibility aspects and the formating information. The latter is useful if you want to try to come backwards at some point (or allow others to do that). However, it is almost always better to keep the original so you never have to come backwards. I can see the accessability aspects to be useful, particularly for universities and government organizations. For businesses, it may vary with the type of business (unless the government puts more regulations in place!).
Typically, the tags are the factor that causes the most bloat in the resultant PDF. If you use lots of different fonts and embed them (always recommended), then that creates another form of bloat. Graphics that maintain more resolution that is needed can cause a lot of problems. I used to have one student who would embed 2400 dpi graphics in word files. I had to turn off graphics viewing in word because it would crash my system (the memory leaks in MS products are some of the worst). Simply reducing the resolution to 300 dpi (or 600 dpi) helps a lot. Keep in mind that the resolution of the eye is on the order of 100 dpi. You have to start using a magnifying glass or zooming to see the higher resolution (useful in some cases, but not usually). The intermediate step in creating a PDF is to print to a PS (you do not see this step normally), the step that often causes the problem with memory (you are limited to the size of free memory allocated to the TEMP folder -- not the free memory on your hard drive). Hope that explains some of the limitations.

Need Help quick: how to retrieve screenshot pictur...

I have a Samsung laptop qx410 and the power system went out. I have taken it to best buy and the repair charges are extremly high. MY problem is that i have screenshots of my friend who passed away on it and i was wondering how i can access those pictures. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Pictures/images/screenshots are generally located in the following default folders:
C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\AppData\Roaming\Skype\YourSkypeName\Pictures
C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\AppData\Roaming\Skype\My Skype Received Files
It would be wise just to backup/retrieve the following folder (with subfolders):
C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\AppData\Roaming\Skype
If you are unable to access that folder you might have to reset Windows permissions on that folder to regain access.
While you have the HDD out of the computer you might as well try to resolve the main issue by performing a basic check disk (chkdsk). If it's able to resolve the errors on the drive you might be able to slip it back into your computer and boot it up.

Hacker violating my privacy even though I have security and have changed passwords several times. Who ever it is, they want me to know because they have the nerve to take control over this computer even when I am logged in. The cursor just starts moving.

Someone is stealing my private information and logging onto my computer at the same time that I am logged into it. The cursor moves by itself and they log me out of whatever page I am working on. I have security and have reported it to my internet provider.
I have spent so much money trying to keep them out of my system to no avail. I also attend school on line and this is a huge problem for me. This thief changes my internet picture right in front of me.
I have tried to report this to the police, but they are no help at all and this is not right. They need to at least try and see who it is.
What do you suggest, I really want to know who is doing this.

This could be done in many ways so it's quite hard to pin point what's going on and how it's done.
The first thing I would do is to reset the the router you have, creating a new password for loging on in case they have gained access this way, then create a new password for the wireless network if you are using it.
Then reinstall your computer, if they/you have installed some software and gotten a Trojan, the only way to get rid of it to 100% is to reinstall. There is no meaning in trying to find it and uninstalling it since it's gotten this far allready.
Depending on what router you have, you might be able to get the logs and see from where they are connecting and trying to pinpoint their location.
There are probably other ways to find out more, but if this happened to me, the first thing I would do is to get rid of the problem, ignoring who they are.

Change the password on your iCloud account and on any other email accounts.
If you had Find My Mac setup on the Mac Air you could log in to your iCloud account at iCloud.com, go to the Find My Mac section and either wipe the Air clean or lock it.
That's pretty drastic and might bring consequenses.

@zwirjatko: Your post is not clear if funds are still being fraudulently taken from your payment method, or via your Skype account? Either way, contact Skype Customer Service as well as the issuer of your payment method. Note that when you report Skype purchases as fraudulent, as soon as Skype is alerted by your payment method issuer of the unauthorized charges, Skype will likely suspend your account as a security precaution.

Getting Rid of Pictures in Table of Contents

I presently have an Indesign Book File with around 50 or so chapters. Each of these chapters has a heading style that I've created and told the TOC to generate from. These chapters also have screenshots (pictures) that keep showing up in the Table of Contents when I generate it. When I try to create a Table of Contents I get something like this, and I obviously don't want these pictures in the TOC. Does anyone know why this is happening?

That's one approach, not necessarily the best, though, as it may do bad things to the layout.
You can also select and delete them manually from the TOC, or create non-printing text containing just the part you want, with a different, unique paragraph style and put them on the pages wher the real headings appear, then build the TOC from those, instead.

How to enlarge pictures and change reading view

I've bought an ebook which should contain large Excel screenshots and text. According to the description it should be in 2 columns, one for text and one for screenshots. I can see the text and enlarge it, but the screenshot pictures are very small and I can't see what they're supposed to be. This is just on a regular sized laptop. I searched for the reading view icons that are supposed to be there, hoping I could fix it by changing it to a 2 page view or another alternative view. For some reason I don't see the reading view icons either. Could anyone tell me how to enlarge these screenshot images, and how to change my reading view and find my icons?

Violation of Apple/ Android Terms?

I am planning to develop a cross platform Adobe AIR application for mobiles, which will be distributed through Andorid and Apple stores as a free app. The users will download this app and to see the available content, they are charged a fee. Once the user pays the required fee, the content will be download on to his device. This content is hosted on other server for downloading. We would be having a separate payment gateway for bill process rather than going through the Apple/ Android. Now, the question is whether Apple/ Android charges some fee whenever a user downloads this paid content. Is this any violation against their terms? Kindly, suggest as the answers would form the basis for building this application?

I have noticed that Skype goes "online" whenever I turn on my computer. A camera screen pops up to take a online profile picture. Is my privacy being compromised in any way? Can anyone, including employees at Skype, see or hear through the camera screen?

no. That window asking for you to take a picture for your profile picture is just a regular function of Skype.

Verizon's invasion of privacy.

why is it that Verizon can force and install of an app that can have access to personal information, messages, email and have the ability to change my sd card????? This is probably illegal. City ID is a forced invasion of my privacy. You have no right or ethical reason to require this information. All apps I download give me the option of not doing so if I don't like what they have access to. But not your City ID. You are tresspassing, and violating my privacy. I think I'll spend some time looking into how to stop this. At the very least I can round up some really bad press for Verizon.

Violation of iTunes Store terms of use

You will be violating the iTunes Store terms of use if you try to purchase from your home store, the iTunes Store you registered with, from another country. Apple will not discuss this with you nor will help you any any way to resolve the issue. Apple does not have an alternative way for customers that like to buy while traveling.
Since I travel a lot I find the need to buy from iTunes, or do an InApp purchase, but I can't do that, apple is now violating my privacy by tracking my IP address to find out my location even if I have location turned off on my device.
I have tryed to find another way to buy while in a different country without violating the terms but I was not able to find one that is easy. You can't even use a gift card because the gift card can only be used in the country you are in, while my id is registered in a different country I am not allowed to use them.
The only way to be able to buy while traveling is creat an account from that country, which means you have to have an address and a credit card tied to that address, can't be done if you are just visiting for a little while. If you are able to do that you will have to have different ID, different address, different credit card for each country you visit.
Apple is selling a device that now can only be used in one country. Their answer to that was you can still use your e mail, Internet, and other applications, not all of them.
Apple does not have an answer to what to do if you are in a counrptry that does not have an App Store, iTunes Store. Why it would be a violation of terms if the country you are in does not have it's own store.
I want to use my device the way I want to use it anywhere I am physically at, why the restrictions. I can still buy from any other online store without being physically in that country, it's up to that online store, or apple to pay the taxes and fees for that country, if that is the problem.
So let's all complain to apple and ask them to change this term, or at least give us an alternative we can use.

How do you track a stalker through an old stolen iPhone not registered through iCloud or Find My iPhone?

My first iPhone was purchased by my partner, father of my child. He left us, Jan 2012. He stole it May 2012. I retrieved it. He has stalked me through that phone somehow ever since, knowledgable of all emails and texts. We couldn't prove it. He has stalked me physically and cyber-stalked ever since. I kept iPhone through court order, June 2012. Had to file civil restraining order over personal sabatoge Jan 2013. Denied by courts.
The glass cover broke June 2013. I replaced it and loaned broken glass iPhone to babysitter to take and send pics of my toddler during work hours; swearing her to privacy with baby father. She defected, giving phone to baby father.
We had trial over common law divorce and parental allocation September 2013. He admitted to mining my iPhone for texts and emails to submit as evidence to be used against me, but claims in two different statements made during the hearings he A) Had no interest in my affairs and 'threw it away' & B) "It's in California being sold as 'refurbished.'". I made further complaints of stalking and harassment. Denied, despit evidence.
He has somehow maintained knowledge of my affairs, texts and emails. In February 2014 he hacked my Facebook and made posted as me, making 'threats to himself.' Freaked, I called 911. Can do nothing, Facebook won't respond to my emails.

Impenetrable spam

I am recieving spam emails from some entity. The only regular text is in a picture/paste form so can not be blocked by Mail rules for text content, and the sender address is always different. And it does not! even respond to a preference rule that allows only people in my address book to be recieved, it won't go to the trash. I tried getting a brand new email address and gave the new address to a strict few personal friends, but now I'm receiving the same spam on the new email only two weeks later! Am I a victim of spyware? Somehow they read my new email off my computer??? The Mac Mail program is not able to block it. Is there another setting on my computer re privacy issues I can go to. (I've never worked with internet settings in System Preferences) Do I need to buy some sort of spyware software?

First, to avoid confusion with replies that would pertain to the version of Mail this forum is meant for (Mail 2.x, included with Tiger), can you confirm which OS & Mail app versions you are running?
Regardless, it is unlikely that you are a victim of spyware or that someone is reading your email 'off your computer.' Almost everyone receives spam of this type. Often, your email address isn't 'stolen' but generated by a robot that tries thousands of possible ones at a time, day after day. The only way this can violate your privacy is if you respond to the message sender in any way, including bouncing the message, clicking on any link it might contain, or allowing it to load images or other files from servers the sender controls. (Mail 2.x has an option to prevent this; I'm not sure if it is available in Mail 1.x.)
I do not know what you mean by "the Mac Mail program is not able to block it" or "it won't go to the trash." Mail can only filter messages, not block them from being sent from your email accounts' servers. Mail should allow you to move them to the trash once received. Please include a more detailed description of what you are doing, how your rules are set up, etc. if you want help.

Don't Want to Store Location Data from Screen Shots

I found that every Screenshot (pressing Home and Sleep buttons together) I took has the current location recorded on the screenshot picture saved in Camera Roll.
How can I tell my iPhone stop recording the location to the screenshots, while allowing photos taken from iOS Camera app continues recording location data?
I tried:
On iOS 7.1.2 Settings>Privacy>Location Services, I can choose if I want to include / exclude my location from each app by turning them On or Off. But I can't find a way to change the screenshot function.
