Is there anyway to turn off the shutter noise it makes when you take a screenshot with command shift 3 or 4?

You can either mute the volume or use Grab (in Utilities folder) and turn off its volume (Grab menu > Preferences > uncheck "Enable Sound").

My shutter noise doesn't work any more!

When I take pictures in Photobooth the shutter noise no longer goes off, this also disappeared for when I take screenshots. I don't know how this happened but it's something that I just noticed recently.

(1) First, verify that your Mac's sound is not turned down or muted. If you use external speakers, check their connection and settings, too.
(2) If sound is on and works in some apps like iTunes, Safari, etc., but sound still does not work when using Screen Shots or Photo Booth, restart Mac and try again. Sometimes a simple restart is all that is needed.

(4) If some apps have sound but the problem sounds still do not work after restarting your Mac, try reinstalling the 10.6.8 Combo Update as follows:
• Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.
•Then download and apply the latest 10.6 Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
• Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software issues that might be causing your trouble.

How can I stop the camera on my 9105 making a shutter noise when taking pictures?

I've looked in all the options and stuff, but I can't find any way of shutting it up!!

Most countries have a law in place that requires the camera to make a shutter sound. That being said, there is no supported method to mute the shutter sound.

Nokia 3600: can camera shutter noise be turned off...

I haven't been able to find the option to turn the shutter off when shooting pictures. I find the sound loud and disturbing, and most of the time one wants to be able to takes pictures quietly and discretely.

The privacy laws in many countries now prevent the use of silent photography forcing phone manufacturers to always have the shutter make a sound.
Possible workarounds are to put your phone in the silent profile or to disable warning tones in your current profile.
If after doing this it still makes a sound then it cannot be disabled, which is not nokia's fault.

Camera shutter noise

Hi, I have owned an iPhone 6 and 6 plus and on both models I have noticed a strange ticking noise coming from the camera. This noise only occurs in very low light conditions. For instance while mounted as a dash cam at night if there is oncoming traffic ie headlights the noise goes away. If there is no oncoming traffic ie very dark this strange ticking noise will not stop until there is light. Also I thought this might be a vehicle noise so while I was out hiking the other night in the woods with near zero light the noise was very persistant. I then took a video in the exact same conditions with my Xperia Z2 and there is no strange noise at all. Is this to be considered normal? Thanks.

This could be due to the new autofocus feature. The camera tries to focus by checking the contrast, which would explain the noise going away when the surrounding area is brighter. Older iPhone models don't have this "Focus Pixel" feature, thus no noise.

Cmd+shift+4 screenshot files do get created on Leopard??

Hi, I have a fresh install of Leopard that has since been "software updated" to 10.5.1.
When I cmdshift4 to create a screen shot, I get the screen area selector, and I hear the little camera shutter noise, but no files are created. In Tiger I used to get screenshot files created on my desktop "Picture 1", "Picture 2", and so on. But now I get nothing.
Using spotlight to search, the file don't appear to be anywhere on my system. I've reverted to using Grab to take screenshots which isn't nearly as quick and easy as the cmd-shift-4 key combination. (By the way, I'm logged in as a user who does not have admin capabilities, if that makes a difference.)
Is this functionality broken in Leopard? Any help is greatly appreciated,

Typed 'screencapture test', heard the camera noise, and saw the following output (below). It appeared to create a file called '.test-k1Xg' in my home folder.

How to remove Camera shutter sound?

Hi all
I really need to get rid of that irritating camera Shutter noise the phone makes when it takes a picture.
I tried to use javax.microedition.amms.control.camera.CameraControl :enableShutterFeedback
however Nokia still doesn't support this functionality.
I am even willing to turn off the phones master volume but I don't think this is possible from J2ME.
Even manually there is no option in the phones settings to do this!
(I here that this functionality is being supressed due to privacy concerns)
Does anyone have any ideas?

you can use a program on your pc like xs++ which gives you access to the phones firmware, you can find the sounds file for the shutter and delete it

The law only concerns phone cameras and does not include digital cameras which are obviously cameras. If you have a digital camera pointed at you, it is pretty obvious what is about to happen. Anyway, it is now law in a few countries with many others following suit. With mobile phones being so mobile, you could easily find yourself running foul of the local laws when travelling abroad.

I personally have no problems with disabling the camera shutter noise. Just explaining to the OP why Nokia isn't giving him the option to turn it off on his phone.

Camera Shutter Fix

We should have the option to turn the camera shuttering sound on and off when taking picture. And don't try to tell me to turn my sound all the way down and it will work, because it won't. I had all my sounds completely off and it still made the shutter noise when I took the photo. So please add this into the setttings thing for the camera.

Screen Capture not working after upgrade to Yosemite

I have Yosemite OS X 10.10.1 and since my upgrade from Mavericks I have not been able to perform any sort of screen capture. I have tried Command+Shift+4 and Command+Shift+3 and neither of those work. There is no camera shutter noise made and no files saved to desktop or elsewhere when I try these commands. I could use the commands just fine on Mavericks to capture the screen. Anyone have any help on this?

Do you have Dropbox installed? If so, go to the menu bar, select it, hit the gear at the bottom right, and then Preferences/Import/Screenshots - make sure the box isn't checked.
You can also make sure they are set to go to your Desktop.

My iphone 4 will not send and receive text messages at random times. My brother has the same phone, lives in the same home and doesn't have this problem. I can't receive messages without my iphone displaying a message asking for my phone number at random times. It happens intermittently. Does anyone know why this happens? I am referring to regula text messages not imessages. I have turned it off and also updated to the most recent software. thanks

My system audio is being relayed to the people I talk to on VoIPs despite my having headphones.

When I use Skype or Teamspeak, the system audio on my computer is rellayed to them. For example, if I take a screenshot they will hear the shutter noise or if I play a video in the background they will hear the audio. I have headphones on, so they aren't receiving echos from the in-built mic and speakers, and in the case of Teamspeak it only happens when I open my mic to speak. I couldn't find any solutions for Macs.

OK, what you should do is download the updates on another machine and burn them to a disc. Start at this link http://support.apple.com/downloads/#leopard for downloads and find, among other things, the 10.5.8 combo updater that works on PPC machines, plus security, QuickTime and other updates. Going from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8, there will probably be a bunch of things that you should install. Being off the internet with the machine, you can't have Software Update sort it out, so something might get missed, unfortunately.
My suggestion is this: if it looks like you might need a download, get it onto that disc.

Why is it so hard to get Verizon to offer an alternative phone?

I've been lurking this board for a long time, and my Fascinate has had nothing but problems.
1. The phone randomly decides to hit the back button on it's own multiple times, resulting in screencaptures. This has not been fixed for me no matter what apps I use or how many times I reset my phone. Have you ever been in a college library and tried to put your phone in standby only to hear the camera shutter noise? Everyone thinks you're creepy and that you're taking pictures of strangers. It's an embarassment.
2. Sometimes when I hit the phone icon it takes me to a black screen. Let me tell you: My cellPHONE will not let me make PHONE calls. This makes the device completely useless.
3. Sometimes I send texts to about 15 different people to confirm plans for the night, get no response at all. No texts from anybody. I wake up the next morning thinking I did something wrong and ruined relationships until I do a battery pull. Then when it starts back up it SENDS THEM THEN. Then I get a ton of confused friends wondering where I was and why they never heard back from me.
4. I have 4 different friends with the SAME EXACT ISSUES on this SAME EXACT MODEL of phone.
I am fully updated and I have never rooted this phone.
Why is it so hard for verizon to just send me a refurbished Droid X2 or Incredible 2? It can't cost that much more!
Please, if any verizon employee sees this I would love if you could help me out. The people I've spoken to on the phone only offered to send me another Fascinate. It's NOT what I need. I have been a Verizon customer for a long time and I'm thoroughly disappointed that you can't help me out by kicking me a refurb of a different model.

Sounds like you've gone through a great deal of trouble with your device. I would like to see if we can get your phone working the way it should.
The manufacturers warranty is a no cost option that replaces the device with the same make and model, considering the device is experiencing an electrical/mechanical defect. This is what the manufacturers cover under the standard one year warranty. When your device does not function as intended and is defective, we intern lift this up to the manufacturer to recoup our losses. This is the reason for the same model exchange policy. In the meantime, I would like to further troubleshoot your device to ensure we've resolved all the issues you're experiencing.
Have you confirmed your Fascinate is running the most recent software version? The current version would be i500.EH03, which is Gingerbread. If not, please update software. A lot of the issues you are experiencing were resolved in the latest update. If you are still experiencing issues with your device after updating the software, please let me know so I can go over other options.

OF COURSE the article doesn’t mention BB. The point is that while people become more trusting with their devices and are told to “download the app” they tend to not read what they are signing up for. Despite your lack of vision in reference of something that could be phony, malicious programs exist and mobiles are ever increasing as targets.

I wasn’t off topic. You quashed the users requests with 3rd party apps and gave your opinion on moving apps to an SD card. I was making a point that the need for 3rd party involvement would be unnecessary if the issue was addressed at the OS. As well as a reason to avoid a 3rd party if at all possible, furthermore I was explaining why downloading apps something is to be cautious of.
