Screenshots black instead of shadow..

Hi,
I have a 'problem' when using the default screenshot functionality inside OSX Leopard.
When I press shift + ctrl + cmd + 4 I get a nice cross hair to take screenshots.
If I then press the space bar I can create a screenshot of the selected window (ie Safari).
The problem is that when I paste the screenshot in Photoshop, the screenshot contains the selected window that is surrounded with a solid black color.
I thought the solid black color used to be a 'drop shadow' kind of effect!?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi,
Thank you for the response.
This does resolve the black bar, but I was also wondering if it is normal behavior that I see a black bar instead of the 'drop shadow' effect?
Cheers
i don't use photoshop so can't really say but it might be that this is how photoshop interprets the drop shadow.

Hi, I'm working on a document in PAges 09. Any idea on how to change the document color? I want it black instead of white.

    Nichelle,
You must add your own background object, and then make it Black.
    Insert > Shape > Rectangle
In the Wrap Inspector, set to Floating.
In the Graphic Inspector, set Stroke to None and set Fill to Black.
Grab the corners of the document and stretch the document to cover the entire page.
Back in the Wrap Inspector select "In Background".
Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.

  • Weird bug?  Transparent background is black instead of checkerboard in RGB mode

If I try to make a new RGB document with the Background Contents set to Transparent the canvas is filled with black instead of the checkboard pattern.  However over in the Layers window the little icon for the layer shows it as transparent with the checkerboard. In the Channels window it also appears transparent, and if I click on one of the channels which selects just one of them the canvas changes from black to the checkboard.  If I click on the RGB channel at the top the canvas changes to black again.
Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
If I open a new document in CMYK I get the checkerboard like I'm supposed to.
I bought a new PC a few days ago and this is a fresh install of Adobe CS4 on Windows 7.  Photoshop is updated to version 11.0.2.
I could swear this wasn't happening a couple of days ago when I first installed it, and it never happened on my old XP computer.
edit to add: all files show a black background in RGB mode instead of the checkerboard pattern, not just when creating a new document.

What are the Photoshop > Preferences > Transparency & Gamut > Transparency Settings?
    Boilerplate-text:
Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Other than that are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, font validation, etc.)?

  • No line border and text in book is printed in black instead of dark blue

Just ordered my first photo book, and found that the text in the book is printed in black instead of the dark blue I thought I had used. I was advised by Apple to remove the 'plist' (had no idea what that was but found some info on Google) by dragging it onto my desktop, then log out and log in again and open the book again and once more choose the right color for the text, and then check the book as PDF in Preview before ordering it again.
I've done that and the text is now the color I want it to be, so I could go ahead and order it again now, I guess. Meanwhile that plist is still on my desktop - what should I do about that?
Besides, before ordering the book again I'd like to solve another problem with it, for which Apple didn't give me a solution, and that is that only part of the line borders in my Line Border Theme photo book are visible. There are no lines around a single photo per page (so the photo is not 'framed' so to speak), and on pages with several photo's there are only lines between photo's but not on the outside.
    Any ideas anybody?
Ps. I should add that Apple was very decent about returning my money right away (besides the two things I just mentioned, the book was also slightly damaged), but didn't answer all my questions.
I really would like to get the book right and printed though.

the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist contains your iPhoto preferences and when you launch iPhoto and there is none a fresh new reference file is created so you can throw the old one away
To preview your book before ordering I recommend Apple's Knowledge base article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040

If I touch camera icon, the screen turns black instead of capturing image. Let me know how to troubleshoot?

    Try closing the Camera app:
    1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
    2. Hold down the Camera app for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close app
    4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen
If the above doesn't solve the problem, do a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • Updated to ios5. Address and action bars,in safari, are now black instead of blue. Normal?

Hit a banner at the bottom of safari.  Went to a site that said my phone was being affected. Reset my phone. Now safari address and action bars are black instead of blue. Possible virus or overreaction?

Yes, iOS5 changed the interface of Safari. It's official. Not sure if you've noticed but auto-correct and spellcheck are missing from the search bar as well.

  • Why is the MacBook keyboard black instead of grey?

A curious question about industrial design.
When Apple released the unibody MacBook, why has the keyboard been changed to black instead of the original silver color from the older MacBook Pro models?
I personally prefer grey keys a lot more than black keys as they blend in well with the aluminum body. Grey, like black, doesn't get dirty over long periods of use.
Some argue that the contrast lets a user recognize the black keyboard better. My counter argument is that the silver keyboard on the old MacBook Pros did not trouble users. Since the hands are already rested in position during typing, users don't need to look at a physical keyboard as often as a touchscreen keyboard.
Others argue that it's to distinguish the keyboard from the body. If that's the case, then why is the trackpad silver instead of black?

A silver keycap with a white letter does not provide sufficent contrast as legislated.  A silver keycap and a sufifciently contrasting letter color would be very difficult to illuminate.  The current ID solution provides sufficient contrast, and the ability to illuminate the letter.

I believe the inital legislation was passed by the EU, and it was part of ergo standards, including usability by the physically limited.

  • For some reason my screen looks as though it is in reverse appearance. How do I correct this? Lettering is white on black instead of black on white.

Has anyone had problems with the appearance of your screen (white on black instead of black on white)?

go to settings - general - accessibility - white on black on or off. set to off.

  • My minimize button is black instead of colored

I have a 15" Macbook Pro Retina and for some reason my close/minimize/maximize buttons are black instead of red/yellow/green.. I tried to look through the setup but could not find anything to change these.. Where is this setup?
    Thanks
    Gary

So what you trying to say? You don't like black buttons?
    Lol jk.
Try System Preferences > General > Appearance > Change to Blue, if its set on Graphite.
That's the only thing I know that changes the color of those icons.  Hope it helps!

  • Character Count in Message app too pale, I can't see it. Can I make it bigger & black instead of grey

Character Count in Message app too small and pale, I can't see it.
(My eyes, like the rest of me, are over 50)
I have used Settings - Accessibility  to increase font size which is wonderful so now I can read what I'm typing,  but still cant see the character count.
Can I make the charater count use a bigger font?
Can I have it black instead of grey?
ANd can I change the whilte-on-green for sent messages into well constrasted colours (like the old iPhone 3G?) so I can read them too?

Thank you Malcolm, that was a good idea ... it seems to have improved the text in the messages I;ve received and a slight improvement in the white-on-green of the snet messages.
Sadly did not affect the character count.
I fear it begins to look as if the character count has been overlooked by the designers at Apple and is left "outside" the range of things affected by the accessibility options. What do you think?

  • Document prints black with grey shadow

I have a HP Photosmart C4480 All-In-One, running Vista 62-bit, Windows 9.  After copying and pasting an article, the document printed with black and a shadow gray, like 2D.  I printed a test sheet and it came out beautiful.  I am current on all updates.  Thank you.

    Hi there adriana13,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? Where are we copying from and to? Does this happen with only one source or multiple sources and what kind of files are we using?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

  • When printing from Illustrator it prints Black instead of Blue

We have had this issue for a while now and cannot grasp it.  We have CS6 and Illustrator decides to print whatever it feels like.  Printing to a regular PCL driver prints black ink where blue is supposed to go.  We also tried changing the print driver to Post Script with the same black ink printing instead of blue.  Also in the print options right before releasing the job we changed the use Illustrator colors to use Post script colors and it still does the same thing.  We sent the job to a different printer and it prints out alright.  Why doesn't it work on our HP Laserjet 3800dn?  All other documents not created in Adobe products will print out blue just fine.  I want to know what is broken in Adobe Illustrator.

Ask in teh AI forum and provide more details like system specs, exact print settings, color management and so on.

  • Text Prints as Black Instead of Assigned Swatch

Hi, I have been having problems with text printing to a HP laser 5500dn printing as black in
stead of the assigned swatch color.
    I am using CS3 on a Mac.
It will print fine exported to PDF or printed on an inkjet.
    I have reset preferences.
In the print dialogue box I have the following settings.
I DO NOT have "Text as Black" selected.
Color Management is: US Web Coated SWOP v2
Color Handling is Let InDesign determine Colors
Printer Profile is Document CMYK US Web Coated SWOP v2
Output color is Composite CMYK (Unable to change in this configuration)
Lastly, after printing and then closing the document,ID asks to save changes, When I cancel and review what edits were done, the last edit comes up as
    "Undo Change Ink"
I don't know what that means.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your help.
I haven't deleted the swatch or converted to another color.
Not sure what you mean by aliasing the swatch.
I did as suggested and looked in the printer setup in the print dialog and did not see anything to print text as black.
So I ended up changing the text to several different colors and now it prints those colors fine.
I think the color is so dark as to appear to be black when printing even though it is very apparent on the monitor that it is much different than black.
I know that monitor colors and printer colors won't match, but this had me very baffled.
Especially as the PDF printed much differently.
So I guess I am going to print from the PDF to make sure the colors are as I want them to be.
I work predominantly on a PC with CS3 that does not have Indesign; the Mac has CS3 with InDesign. The Mac routinely prints all documents much darker than the PC and what is displayed on the screen.
    Thanks, again.

  • When printing from Illustrator the document prints Black instead of Blue

Computer is Windows 7 x64 running adobe CS6.  The printer is a HP laserjet 3800dn the driver for the printer is PCL5 but it does the same thing printing with the Postscript driver.  We have a navy blue color that prints out black for some reason. In the print options right before releasing the job we changed the use Illustrator colors to use Post script colors and it still does the same thing....Prints black where blue is supposed to go on the document.  Doesn't matter if it is a .jpeg or plain text.  Sending the job to a different printer works which is a Xerox workcentre.

Well, I thought perhaps I skipped over where you said yellow printed but blue didn't...all I see is blue prints as black. And from your screen shot, it was that grayscale checkbox I was thinking of might have been set.
Do you have another of these HP printers available? If so, does it print correctly?
Have you made sure there isn't a corrupt driver and or updated drivers on your system? Can another computer print to this printer correctly?
Seems that if the Xerox prints it fine, then it isn't Illy.
