Screenshots lagging Mac when opened
I have recently brought the new 5k iMac which runs quick and I am pretty happy with it. However, when I have a screenshot opened there is lag. For example, if I have multiple screenshots opened with Preview and hit 'F3' to expand everything it lags and is not smooth. This is the same with using quick view (space bar) and cycling view various files.
I've looked and the size of some of the screenshots are 2MB~ which is pretty crazy for what it is. Is there an option for screenshots to be taken at a lower resolution. If so, should this solve the issue. Why can't Yosemite handle quick viewing these kind of files smoothly?
Its a typical creak from the hinge cover which is plastic (black bar at hinge)
Its a cosmetic hinge that covers monitor cables and wifi antenna.
It could be out of place or have a bend it in. Easy replacement by Apple, however if it creaks it means usually the fit is too tight (doesnt affect anything at all)
The friction hinges dont creak, its the plastic black hinge cover.
Contact Apple for in shop replacement of the hinge cover / or repositioning it.

Why does Safari quit (on my Mac) when opening PDF?
I'm on a Mac OSX 10.5.8 on Safari. Each time I first want to open a PDF, my Safari crashes. The note says, "Problem caused by Acrobat plug-in". After relaunching Safari I can open PDF files. Help?
Hey thanks for responding so quickly! I've downloaded AppDelete
Forgive my ignorance - what is Reader X app and how can I find it?

Subject: Adobe Reader Why does Safari quit (on my Mac) when opening PDF?
One of the things I have loved about Macs since switching in 2003 is:
They tell you what went wrong when something does.
The Acrobat plugin is corrupted.
Solution:
Download a trial of AppDelete. Install it and open it.
Drag the Reader X app to the window.
Delete everything it finds associated with Reader X and empty the trash. Re-download Reader X and re-install it.
It will install new support and preference files and plugins. and things should go more smoothly. -
Has anyone solved the problem with " lagging " response when opening nay app ?
since " upgrading " ( if you can call it that ! ) to IOS7 on iPhone 4, everyone is complaining about the delay when opening any App. At the Genius bar at Apple store they referred to this as " lagging ". After a quick diagnostic of my phone, they suggested a full Restore. Big waste of my time and data. No change whatsoever. I had to go through the full process of syncronizing music and photos and resetting everything.
I also talked about the new Calendar and especially the Reminders. The new Reminders App is quite simply horrible and no longer attractive and consequently a useless Icon. Even the calendar is labor intensive. I tried to register a future doctor's appointment and the receptionist finally said " Why dont I just call you a day befpre ? ". How Apple managed to make something so simple so complicated is beyond me. The rotary calendar anc clock is a joke.
It bears repeating, Apple makes too many unnecessary design changes, I dont want to have to invest all this time going to work shops to figure out what they have done with basic apps, especially if its to find out what I already figured out.
I would however like to know what Apple intends to do about the lagging. I have another 18 months on the iPhone 4.No. It was designed to work that way.

File size variations in Cs5, Bridge, & Mac when opening D800e raw files
I am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size. D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thank you for responding. I understand what you are saying. After more attempts at resizing nef files into tifs, and then restarting my computer, everything seems to be ok. However, when I make a four shot stitched pan with the D800e, I encounter the same problem even after downsizing to a more manageble file size. Each photo in the pan is originally 103MB. After resizing the 4 shots to 30MB each, I end up with a pan that is about 75MB in CS5 after cropping. When I highlight this pan & "get info" on my Mac desktop, the image size is 300-400 MB. I can ignore this for personal use, but if I have to send it to a client via the internet its a problem. I have made stitched pans with my D3s with no problem at all, so I guessing I have to switch cameras when I want to stitch shots together. If anyone has any more comments feel free!

ADE 4 Crashes on Mac When Opening a Borrowed Library Book
I borrowed "Game of Thrones" from my public library, in eBook format of course, and it crashes ADE 4.x on my Mac 10.10.2. I downgraded ADE to 2.01 and the book open fine. How do I send a bug report to Adobe on this? I can repeat the bug every time.

Unresponsive Mac when opening certain files
Hi, this is my first time using these forums as I've never had a problem with my macbook pro until yesterday. I'm not tech savy but fortunantely I haven't had too many problems with my MBP. However, beggining yesterday I've had a very unresponsive computer. The problem only occcurs when I open certain types of apps.
Google chrome (which i am using now) is perfectly fine, photobooth, even imovie is working fine and not making the computer unresponsive. However, when I try to open safari/software update/firefox/skype the computer always (100% of the time) will have a long stream of unresponsive time, followed by a small time frame where the computer catches up to any commands I pushed (force quit option), which is than followed by another stream of unresponsive time. I've had the activity monitor out while I tried opening safari or software update and it will show an 8% usage. Nothing remarkably high. however the programs will be highlighted in red with the words unresponsive and it will occasionaly make the other programs (like google chrome or finder) unresponsive.
I know that Imovie is a very heavy taxload program for the MBP but if i can use that smoothly, I think it's safe to say my MBP is not too "slow".
The only thing in common I see between the programs that provoke an unresponsive computers is that they use the internet (safari/software update/skype/itunes will log onto the store). Whats peculiar is that google chrome is working great.
Does google chrome connect to the net in a different way? does anyone know what tests i should do to figure whats wrong with my mbp?
heres my mbp details

LR 1.1 Crashes on Mac when opening
Not off to a good start with LR.
it was working fine last night - not crashing. Loaded about 4 folders into the LR folder.
Came down this AM & I turned on LR & got the error message about a corrupted catalogname.Ircat file. Clicked on the TEc notes, follwoed (I think), restarted LR, and it began to import a folder. But half way through, I got that same corrupt file message again.
Seems pretty unusable now. I am caught in a loop of fixing, and then it just corrupts immediately again.
ANOTHER problem I had - while it was working.
When I would work on a photo in LR, then Edit in PS2 & save, when I went back to LR I could not see the picture I had edited in CS2. Instead, in the library, there was a blank thumbnail. If I moved my cursor over it I could then see it, but could not do anything with it. As soon as cursor moved away, the thumbnail became blank (grey) again. Not off to a good start with LR.

How do you stop random screenshots from appearing when you open an app
These screenshots really bug me, especially when it comes to safari. I use safari daily and sometimes I stumble upon rather frightning images. Because.the screenshot that appears when you open an app is always a random snapshot of when you used the app in the past (I sometimes see screenshots that are over a year old), my biggest fear is that a scary picture I looked at in the past may appear when I open safari in the future. Jumpscare.
aside from that, this could also be a security violation, as a picture of your login information foryour bank may aappear at any time. This is especially dangerous if your iPhone is in the hands of another person. When you open an app or when you close an app using the App Switcher (double-tap the Home button)?
If you are talking about the App Switcher, there's no way to disable the displayed screenshot. If you don't want to see the "scary image", browse to another website. I have Google set as one of my favorites...when I shut down Safari, I just hit the Google favorite so the next time I open Safari, it opens to Google. I've never heard of nor experienced random screenshots popping up when opening Safari. -
When i login to my mac, it opens iTunes, Skype and AIM. I've tried deleting these from the login items, but they are not on the list. Can anyone help?

If you do not lock that folder immediately after deleting all the contents, it will simply populate again (Resume - a "feature" in Lion). You do that by doing a Get Info (highlight folder and press Command + I keys), unlock the lock at the bottom, enter your admin password, then check the box to lock the folder. lock the lock and you're done.
Yes, that is correct. The alternative is to quit all applications prior to logging out. Lion will then have a chance to remove the saved states.

And, for the OP:
It has also been a regular feature of Mac OS to automatically open any window that was open at shutdown. To avoit that behavior, simply close any Finder windows and properly quit applications by closing their window and using Command + Q (or File >Quit).
This was true only for the Finder. Prior to Lion, no other apps would launch unless they were included in the Login Items for the account. And the OS would not restore windows for other apps.
A very small number of apps (TextWrangler is an example) implemented this capability prior to Lion. They could restore previously opened windows. But that is an application feature, and can be controlled by the application's preferences. Lion implements it at the system level, and users have virtually no control on a per application basis. -
PDF form text fields' options change when opened in READER on a MAC.
I created a PDF form using Adobe X PRO. All fields are UNCHECKED for Property/Options/ "scroll long text". I save and distribute the form as a "reader extended pdf/enable additional features" so it can be saved and returned using READER.
When a Mac user opens the extended form in Adobe READER, ALL the text fields change to scroll. When he returns the completed form to me, every text field, even signature and date fields, are changed to scroll text.
What is happening in the transition from PC to MAC?Preview is the default PDF viewer on the Mac. It should never be used with PDF forms. Just let them know that they should use Adobe Reader. Provide a link or URL where it can be downloaded and let them know that it's free.
There are things you can do so that it doesn't work in Preview, but it involves some scripting. If interested in this approach, post again. -

How to open document from mac when using windows without transferring the file?
How can i open a document from mac when i am using windows without transferring it?
depend on the document program more then anything else really
when ever I open a doc with word it make a history for undo and redo action file in the same dir
with bootcamp you only have read not write access to the osx partition so it would fail to be able to create that file
but if you can get word or whatever program you use to open the file not to place a temp file in the same dir
or use a program which did not make any type of temp file or used a program where the temp file would be located elsewhere where you decide it would work file -
I'm sure this is a setting fix, but can't find it…. All of my windows for mac programs open when I turn on my computer, such that I have to close each one individually to get to my desk top. How do I adjust so none of them open unless I choose to?
Remove the check in the box "Reopen windows when logging back in":

I've just had some troubles updating several packages from AUR with yaourt. The issues where concentrating on seemingly "wrong hashes". Today I looked a little deeper and found out, that for some reason (maybe canceled upgrade or similar) yaourt was
