Screws missing on bottom of case

Does anyone know an easy way to get the screws on the bottom of my macbook? OR...has anyone else been missing screws on the bottom?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since none of the MacBooks are more than one year old yet, they should all still be covered by the original one year warranty. I would bring your MacBook in to an Apple retail store or a nearby Apple Authorized Service Provider and they should be able to put the screws back in for you.

If you are still under warranty, contact Apple to get it serviced. You can also visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it looked at.

  • New Macbook screw missing

    Hello,
I feel kind of stupid asking this because its one screw however I ordered my macbook off the refurb store two weeks ago. I have just noticed there is a screw missing from the top right if your looking at the macbook bottom up, I would like to have a screw to put into the macbook to make sure the bottom is secure. I'm not sure the best way to go about getting one, help ?
    Thanks

+*I would say, that since it is refurbished, that is what you could expect.*+
Refurbs from Apple should not be missing any parts or exhibit any manufacturing issues. Refurbs also come with a full warranty. By all means, contact Apple and see if they'll send you the screw... but they don't tend to offer up parts. Even for something as small as that, they would have you send it in for the repair. The only thing I would potentially be concerned about is "why" the screw was missing. If it was just an oversight, that would be one thing, but if the threads in the hole were stripped, that would be a little more significant. Either way, your machine is fully covered... it's just that the later option would require that parts of the casing be replaced.

  • Sakthivishnu Regarding Screw missing in my laptop

Hello, I am using HP Envy 15t-j100, Just  day back I noticed that a screw from my bottom right corner when my lap is open and when i am facing it. Problem is when i open and close lap there is a small gap is been former between bottom black body and silver case. As I am in India when i reached service center they informed me that this problem in the lap can be solved only i take my lap to USA. Anyone can you please help me to resolve this problem. If the parts are available and if i can get it in US can i ask my relatives to buy n send it to India? That is the best solution may i know?

Just replacing the screw is not going to do the trick. It fell out because the hinge is failing and the screw stripped and the threads could not hold it in any more. If you try to put a new screw in it will just fall out. The screen hinge assembly and the screw need to be replaced. While you are in there you might as well replace both hinges.

  • Lenovo Yoga Screw Missing!!! PLEASE HELP

I just realised that one of the screw on the bottom of my laptop has gone missing!. Can someone please tell me the type of screw at the bottom of my laptop is and are there any spare available... Thanks.

    Hello and welcome,
You don't say which screw - or which Yoga.
Go to SUPPORT (above), enter "Yoga" in Quick Path, select Yoga 11 or 13, then Guides and Manuals, and finally Hardware Maintenance Manual.  There are drawings and screw specifications in the HMM.  Then maybe a trip to the local hardware store...

    Hi,
Here's the Bottom Case Replacement Link
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/
It doesn't answer your specific questions about cost... but it does advise to contact an Apple Store or an AASP...
Anyway have a look at it... if you haven't already..
    Cheers and Good Luck...

  • I'm looking for screws for the bottom of my macbook pro unibody.

I need screws for the bottom of my macbook pro unibody. They started falling out after I upgraded my RAM, apparently they had some type of threadlock on them. Apple was of little help and directed me to a an apple store or service center which is not convienent. So far, I've been only able to find the 'old' pack of 5 screws, not the pack of 10 that my mac requires. I did find one seller on ebay advertising them but would like to avoid that path if possible. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

No this is not a common problem.  Have you had the bottom off before?
The factory set screws you see a bit if blue lock tight which makes it more difficult the first time out.
They can replace the screws over the counter at any authorized repair service or Genius bar:

I dropped my mac pro. The disc drive plays but will not record. medium drive error. How hard is it to replace the drive my self. i see screws on the bottom. Could I just order a new internal drive and replace it? Or is it too complicated for the average person? Would be cheaper to buy an external drive than to replace internal one? Any advice is appreciated

How certain are you the superdrive ONLY is at fault?
That depends on your skill level, if you grew up tearing things apart and putting them together, its absurd how easy it is.
For some however its too daunting.   On a general skill level for the "average" person its about a 3 out of 10 in difficulty.
    Can you order same? yes.

  • I can't remove my iphone 4s screws at the bottom, regular 5 star screwdriver wont work. Are they stripped?

    the question says it all....

There is no such thing as a "regular 5 star screwdriver". A regular star screwdriver is most often considered a Torx screwdriver, this has a 6 point star. A Torx will not fit iPhone screws. The bottom screws on iPhone 4S are proprietory Apple Pentalobe Screws, sometimes called pentalobular or pentacle. They are easily removed, never stiff like they are with the iPhone 3G or 3GS, these come out with little force. But you have to use a Pentalobe Screwdriver. Not recommended, but straight edge tools that correctly fit across the screw head depression will work.

  • Missing screw on the bottom of my Macbook?

My Macbook accidentally slipped and it dropped to the ground. I didn't notice until now that a screw had fallen out from the bottom. What happens if I don't replace the screw?
I know it'd probably be best to replace and bring it to Apple but the nearest Apple store isn't so near.

Nothing, besides your mac having one less screw.

I lost one and called my local Apple store, and they told me they don't sell the screws.

  • Where can I get replacement screws for the bottom of my MacBook Pro?

I have a late 2011 13 inch MacBook Pro. I recently upgraded it from the stock 500 gigabyte 5400 RPM hard drive to a 750 gigabyte 7200 RPM Seagate Momentus XT Solid State Hybrd drive. When I was putting the screws back in the bottom case  I lost one of the small screws. Now the bottom case of my MacBook is little loose due to the missing screw. Where can I get a replacement screw?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
I think you want something like this:
    CASE
        WHEN  a.f_req_st_dt < TRUNC (SYSDATE) - 60  THEN  '>60'
        WHEN  a.f_req_st_dt < TRUNC (SYSDATE) - 30  THEN  '30.1-60'
        WHEN  a.f_req_st_dt < TRUNC (SYSDATE) - 15  THEN  '15.1-30'
WHEN  a.f_req_st_dt < TRUNC (SYSDATE)       THEN  '15 or less'
ENDNested CASE expressions aren't needed very much. Each WHEN clause is evaluated only if all the ealier ones have failed. For example, when testing to see if a row is in the 301.-60 range above (that is, the 2nd WHEN clause), there's no need to see if the difference is greater than or equal to 60; it wouldn't be evaluating that clause if the 1st WHEN condition was TRUE.
This assumes that a.f_req_st_dt is a TIMESTAMP or DATE; either datatype can be compared with DATEs, such as SYSDATE-60, so there's no need to conevert them to strings, and then convert them back into DATEs.
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
Simplify the problem as much as possible. Show only the parts that you don't already know how to do.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0).

  • Black screen and bulge-crack in bottom of case

My white MacBook will turn on and appear to run (by watching the power/sleep light on the front), but there is no activity onscreen. It stays black. There is no image at all, so it is not a matter of the backlight being off.
The only odd thing is that it has a small bulging, cracked area on the bottom of the CASE, between the right-hand side hinge and the near edge, and slightly toward the front of the machine. It looks as if something is trying to push its way out of the case. The bulge is only a mm or so, but its enough to have cracked the case in a star pattern.
The machine has never been dropped or mistreated in any way. Kid gloves handling.
Anyone else see anything like this?
    Thanks

sounds like somethng has failed and in the process expanded/distorted enough to affect the case, probably got hot too
to avoid further damage, don't power it up, also remove the battery
is it still within warranty? if not look online for a repair service - apple's out of warranty service is usually expensive, you should be able to get a better price elsewhere
but if the damage is significant then it might be uneconomic to repair
