Script Dynamic Flash Text

I am wondering if anyone knows a way to tag text for flash export using scripting. Basically I need to be able to set the Flash text attributes for TextFrames in the document using scripting. I know this is only available in CS3. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Rebecca,
I've spent about an hour poking through the DOM without finding any obvious handles for the flash text export options.
My only suggestion at this point is that you try just importing .ai artwork into Flash, and once it's on the stage, then (create and) use a jsfl script to walk your object tree and convert your text object properties.
I ::think:: this should get you close to what you are wanting.  Let me know how it goes.
cheers,

  • Dynamic Flash text in Director MX

    Hi,
    I have a presentation which needs to display user-changable
    messages. I have a flash file that reads from a .txt file. Every
    time the flash file opens, it reads the new text, updates, and
    everything is great. I'm using
    loadVariablesNum("/dynamic.txt", 0);
    to read the text from the file.
    But, when i put that flash file in Director, the text stops
    updating. I made sure the file was linked externally. I'm sure it's
    a simple code fix in director, but can't figure it out.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello,
    The AS below works getting fresh data from a server, not sure
    about locally,
    you tag a random bit of text at the end of what you're
    grabbing, and it
    makes Flash think it's a new file everytime. I'm an AS noob,
    but this might
    help.
    randVar=Math.random()*9999;
    loadVariablesNum("/dynamic.txt?" + randVar, 0);

  • Dynamic flash text in Dreamweaver...

    I made a flash file which load dynamic text for external .txt
    file into a scroll box. Now, when I add the swf file into my .aspx
    page in dreamweaver there is a problem. The scroller load alright
    but the text is not shown up.
    ( i saved the txt folder into the same folder of ny site so
    it's not the problem.)
    I work with CS3 and built my project by AS3.
    thanks,
    KDEN

  • Problem displaying dynamically loaded text in Flash CS3

    I created a Flash CS3 application that does not display
    dynamically loaded text (from internal AS3 scripts) on 3/6 of my
    client's computers. All computers run IE 6 and Flash Player 9. I
    cannot replicate the problem on any computer in my department. The
    problem seems to be related to Flash Player 9 or a browser
    setting/IT restriction. Has anyone encountered this? If so, have
    you found a solution?
    If I cannot find a solution, then I will need to almost
    completely redo the application.
    One slightly insane idea I have considered is to, if
    possible, convert dynamically loaded text to an image real-time. Is
    that possible?
    Btw, I have created a font in my library. Should I try
    manually embedding the font from the Properties menu and selecting
    all characters?
    Thanks in advance.

    yes, even though you may be using a font from the library,
    you still have to specify that each text field that uses that font
    embeds the font, and you'll need to select all characters(well not
    all, unless you require all the different scripts of the world -
    upper-case, lower-case, numerals and punctuation usual suffices).
    I bet if you checked, the computers where the font did not
    appear did not have the font on their system.
    Good luck

    Hello,
    I have a bug on my Nexus 5 Android 4.4 Air 4.0.
    when I scroll the text in the textField and I select the text (in my example near "subclass" word), the TextField get focus, if I put on the backspace key, the character deleted is the previous character the first time, and if I put again on the backspace key, the caracter deleted is the first character and not the previous character.

  • Flash Text not displaying certain fonts

    Thanks as always…
    I am trying to use Flash text for some headings, but after an
    hour of pulling my hair out I've just realised it will only display
    certain fonts, such as Helvetica etc.
    I added the font I want to use to my font list but it still
    does not display…
    I'm using MX on OSX 10.3.9.
    Any ideas? Thansk.

    Is your text in a dynamic text box, or static text box in
    flash?
    I don't think the issue concerns the "true-type" or not
    "true-type" font.
    In Flash, when text is part of a dynamic text box (which I
    assume is the case in your situation),
    then the font works just like in an html page:
    if the font is installed on the computer it will show, if
    not, it won't. The way around this, is to
    embed the font data in the authoring flash file, and link it
    to the dynamic text box, via actionScript.
    So if you cannot work on the authoring Flash file with Flash
    MX or Flash8, and if indeed we're
    talking about a dynamic text box, your only option is to use
    a web-safe font.

  • Troubles saving flash text (or buttons) in CS3

    I have been trying to build a banner in dreamweaver cs3 with
    flash text, but i can neither save nor apply the text as i keep
    getting the error message,
    "text1.swf is an invalid file name. Please enter a different
    name."
    and i continue to get the message regardless of whatever name
    (with or without the .swf extension) I use.
    help????

    It appears to be at least partly related to what I mentioned, if not entirely.  If you look in the html code you will see the following line...
    <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    Your web page utilizes this file (Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js) to display the Flash content provided you have javascript allowed for your web browser.  So you need to create the same Scripts folder on the server and place the AC_RunActiveContent.js file in that folder.
    Alternatively, you could place it in the same folder as your html file and just lose the folder reference in the line of code, the important thing is that the web page laods that js file....
    <script src="AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

  • Problems with displaying dynamic Arabic text

    We have a problem with a navigation system we are building
    which has to be able to display dynamic Arabic text. We are pulling
    in the Arabic text using XML. The problem we are having is that the
    character are not displaying joined up where they should be (for
    instance in the middle of words). Arabic characters have different
    shaping according to the position they take up within a word. What
    we are producing is apparently unreadable. Has anyone come accross
    this problem before? Is it solveable?

    Hi:
    Is there any possible chance that Adobe would do something to asist us Fl8 users with international character support.
    Everyone has some work-around, except Abode, and they are all usually related to XML.
    My setup is PHP (CMS supporting many languages) -> MySQL -> PHP -> Flash8 (Dynamic Text Fields) and the olpart that does not work is when I inject an extended character into the string - Flash stops displaying anything from that character on.
    If Adobe has or did have some component / solution or anything other than the usual System.useCodePage = true (which never seems to actually work), please let me know.
    Best Regards,

  • Problem with embedding Flash Text/HTML Code

    Hey all, im new to DW and just created a html page with a
    black background and a picture. I also added a flash text called
    "Enter Forum" by using "Insert>Media>Flash Text"
    When i copy and paste the code that is generated in the
    "Code" section/tab on to my server in the index/html and go to view
    my site it is not there. I uploaded the .swf file to my server
    also, i have played around with the coding a bit to see if i was
    doing anythng wrong but nothing works. Below is the code DW renders
    to me. I simply copy and paste this code that DW renders and paste
    it in to my server's index.html (Main Page) file. I checked the emd

    Can you post the url to show us the page on your server? If
    you copied
    everything, it could be you have too many doc types, headers
    and body tags
    in your index.html page.

  • How to make Dynamically Shortened Text With "Show More"

    Hi there! i want to know how to make dynamically shortened text with show more or read more in my website using HTML 5 pages  or ASP.NET ?
    example like these paragraphs
    Det är ett välkänt faktum att läsare distraheras av läsbar text på en sida när man skall studera layouten. Poängen med Lorem Ipsum är att det ger ett normalt ordflöde, till skillnad från "Text här, Text här", och ger intryck av att vara läsbar text. Många publiseringprogram och webbutvecklare använder Lorem Ipsum som test-text, och en sökning efter "Lorem Ipsum" avslöjar många webbsidor under uteckling. Olika versioner har dykt upp under åren, ibland av olyckshändelse, ibland med flit (mer eller mindre humoristiska).
    I motsättning till vad många tror, är inte Lorem Ipsum slumvisa ord. Det har sina rötter i ett stycke klassiskt litteratur på latin från 45 år före år 0, och är alltså över 2000 år gammalt. Richard McClintock, en professor i latin på Hampden-Sydney College i Virginia, översatte ett av de mer ovanliga orden, consectetur, från ett stycke Lorem Ipsum och fann dess ursprung genom att studera användningen av dessa ord i klassisk litteratur. Lorem Ipsum kommer från styckena 1.10.32 och 1.10.33 av "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (Ytterligheterna av ont och gott) av Cicero, skriven 45 före år 0. Boken är en avhandling i teorier om etik, och var väldigt populär under renäsanssen. Den inledande meningen i Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem Ipsum dolor sit amet...", kommer från stycke 1.10.32.
    Den ursprungliga Lorem Ipsum-texten från 1500-talet är återgiven nedan för de intresserade. Styckena 1.10.32 och 1.10.33 från "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" av Cicero hittar du också i deras originala form, åtföljda av de engelska översättningarna av H. Rackham från 1914.

    Give the first paragraph an ID, such as "first", and wrap the paragraphs you want to hide in a <div> with another ID, such as "more". Then add the following block of JavaScript just before the closing </body> tag of the page:
    <script>
    var first = document.getElementById('first'),
         more = document.getElementById('more'),
         trigger = document.createElement('span');
    trigger.id = 'trigger';
    trigger.innerHTML = 'Show less';
    first.appendChild(trigger);
    function toggleDiv() {
      var state = more.className,
           text = trigger.innerHTML;
      more.className = (state == 'open') ? 'closed' : 'open';
      trigger.innerHTML = (text == 'Show more') ? 'Show less' : 'Show more';
    toggleDiv();
    if (trigger.addEventListener) {
        trigger.addEventListener('click', toggleDiv, false);
    } else if (trigger.attachEvent) {
      trigger.attachEvent('onclick', toggleDiv);
    } else {
      trigger.onclick = toggleDiv;
    </script>
    This gets references to the "first" paragraph and the "more" <div>. It also creates a <span> with the ID "trigger" that's appended to the "first" paragraph. The rest of the script defines a function called toggleDiv(), which toggles the "more" <div> open and closed, and changes the text in the "trigger" <span>.
    You also need to create the following style rules for the various elements:
    <style>
    #trigger {
        text-decoration: underline;
        color: blue;
        cursor: pointer;
    #more {
        transition: ease-out .7s;
        overflow: hidden;
    #more p:first-child {
        margin-top: 0;
    #more.closed {
        height: 0;
        -webkit-transform: translateY(-600px);
        transform: translateY(-600px);
    #more.open {
        -webkit-transform: translateY(0);
        transform: translateY(0);
        max-height: 600px;
    #more + p {
        margin-top: 0;
    </style>
    This solution hides the text and creates the "trigger" <span> only if JavaScript is enabled in the browser. It should work in all browsers, including Internet Explorer 8 and earlier.

  • Flash text and flash buttons in DW CS4

    Hi,
    I have installed DW CS4 on my pc with Vista Home Premium 64
    Bit...I have edit my website homepage and I have discovered that I
    can't edit all flash text and buttons that I have created with DW
    CS3! I have see that the adobe has removed from CS4 version this
    option! So, now how I can resolve this problem??
    I have try to install also the CS3 version but I don't
    understand because I can't no more activated it from internet or
    phone option!
    I'm very angry for this, now I have to recreate from the
    begin all flash text and buttons of my website with other software?
    perhaps to buy also the Flash CS4 version for the solution? is this
    the new idea of adobe with their new CS4 version?

    It was a poor choice on Adobe's part to ever include such an
    option, and on
    your part for using it. Think about it -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    Especially
    consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
    internet where Flash
    is not allowed by the IT staff.
    2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
    not be
    spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
    a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    You will have
    to remake those buttons.
    It's almost always a very bad idea for these reasons.
    The solution is to make graphics to replace the Flash
    elements, or just use
    CSS styled text.
