Script Error in Contribute 3

I am currently working in an outdated version of Contribute
(version 3) and everytime I open our website to edit, I immediately
receive an "Internet Explorer Script Error" box saying "An error
has occurred running the scripts on this page. Do you want to
continue running the scripts on this page?" It doesn't matter if I
click yes or no, the box continually pops up and I can't get rid of
it.
Help!

I have the same problem in Contribute CS3 4.1 just downloaded
demo package connected to a web site via SFTP.
IE reports a script error on line 2 char 1:
{!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0
Transitional//EN" "
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
{html xmlns="
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
{head>
... {'s used in post to disable HTML
The script runs fine outside Contribute in IE and other
browsers.
If we say OK the rest of scripting seems fine.
Is there something wrong with the HTML? Contribute?

  • Script errors in Contribute CS3

I created a site recently that uses code from Particletree
    for a Lightbox. (
    http://particletree.com/features/lightbox-gone-wild/)
When I browse those lightbox pages in Contribute, it throws
an IE warning about a JS error and asks me if I want to debug. I
have debugging turned off in IE, but Contribute must not be using
my settings. Is there way to tell IE in Contribute to not display
    those messages?

Do you get a box appear with heading "Internet Explorer
    Script Error"
"An error has occurred on this page."
    Line
    Character
    Error
    Code
    URL
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?"
    Yes/No"
I GET THE ABOVE AND CAN'T REMOVE IT WHEN TRYING TO EDIT

  • Cannot edit with contribute 5.5: script error

I too get a script error. Nothing has chanaged, the site has worked with various versions of Contribute for over 5  years. The javascript had not changed so it must have been ignoring any ambiguity until now. I checked the site in Mozilla/Firefox debugger and with extended checking on it gave warnings like "this variable might not always return a value".
So what has changed? My machine is now using IE11 - one posting implies that Contribute gets services from IE. Is this correct? Could IE11 be causing the issues please?
    Many thanks
    Owain

Is this a site-wide error or has it only happened on a page or two?
I asked because one time we DID have a few pages that contained an errant class tag that would give a similar error but whenever it's been site-wide, the other option clears it.

  • Getting "Script Error" message in Contribute 6.5

What's causing this and how do I fix?

Possibly the website uses Java script and there is an error in this script.
    You can do two things:
    1. Best, is to find the error in the script or let someone do it for you, and repair the script.
    2. Second best, is to go to the advanced setting of IE and disable the display of script-errors. To disable the Script error please watch the video linked :- How To Stop Internet Explorer Script Error Messages - YouTube

  • Very Slow and Script Errors

Contribute 6.5 is very slow to publish new content to our site www.mrii.ie, even bringing up a page for editing is slow. So far I have:
Tested the the FTP settings using passive and active connections.
Using an external FTP program, downloading from the site is very quick 2. I checked all the file permissions on the server and they are correct. In fact Contribute will publish the changes eventually, just very slowly prior to the actual upload which seems pretty quick.
I also used a plain page with a small amount of text and again the pre-processing seems slow.
I removed the temporary sites and configuration folders and still no change.
    I created a new connection.
As an aside, how do I disable script errors in the Contribute browser window?

OK, found it.  This fixed my performance issue.

  • Internet Explorer Script Error - an error has occurred in the script on this page.

I am using Adobe Contribute CS4, version 4.1 and have the following error message when trying to administer a website of a new client.
    Internet Explorer Script Error

As this is the only website I am seeing this error message, I am wondering if indeed there is a problem with the scripts on the page.  Does anyone know how to fix this scripting problem?
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  • Script Error after making changes

First, I am not a website designer. I own a website and have
been making minor (text) changes using Contribute since I didn't
need to know html. I started a couple of years ago just using the
trial and never had any problems with it, but about a month ago
    bought it...CS3.
After sitting down and making some changes, I published and
    then got:
    Script Error
    Line: 17
    Char: 1
    Error: Object required
    Code: 0
    URL;
    http://www.dirty-dog.com/contact/
I've looked at the source code, found line 17, but have no
idea what I'm supposed to do. I think this is an easy fix, right?
Can someone explain in "plain english" what I need to do?
Also, one day I somehow fixed it...just by moving stuff
around on the page. I also made some changes to other pages,
thought they were published (looked at all of them), but when I
went back yesterday, all the changes were gone?!? How is that
possible??? I'm going to try to paste the code here....

  • Can't insert text into web page plus script error message

I'm using CS3 and, on a fairly regular basis, when I am either pasting or inserting content (usually a newsletter of 500-1000 words), I get a message saying something like I can't insert text in this area. I definitely can insert text in the area as I have done it tons of times before. I sometimes have to cut and past a doc line by line to get it to insert. Very frustrating!
Also, just recently, I've been getting a script error message, "An error has occurred in the script of this page" followed by Line: 992, Char: 106, Error: Unterminated String Constant, followed by the question: Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? I click Yes and everything seems to work fine.
Help on either would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You might want to make sure you are trying to copy plain text. It's possible that if you are copying from a Word document or another Web site that you are bringing along extra unseen code it doesn't like.  Try copying into Notepad first and then copying from Notepad into Contribute.  Not sure if that's the problem or not, but that's what came to my head first.
I used to get an error that sounds similar (however it's not reproducing the error for me right now) to your error.  It was because some of my users had javascript menus on their page that Contribute didn't like.  However, if worked fine when you clicked yes and it was fine once it was published.   So if you are running a script that's probably why and I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you can continue working and the page displays to your users correctly once published.  It's just annoying.
    Hope that helps.  Good luck.

  • How can I identify the cause of a Script Error

We have a client who has been using Contribute for a few years and who has reported that they are constantly getting a Script Error message when using Contribute to edit pages.
This message has only started to show in the last week or so despite there not having been any revisions to the site template (that I'm aware of).
The message seems to be appearing when visiting most if not all pages on the site.
I've looked at the scripts used in the site but can't identify anything with reference to MM_swapimage in Line: 1 Char: 1
Can anyone give suggestions for solving this issue or at least to stop the error message from conatantly appearing?
Screen shot of the message attached for reference.

You can try installing IE 9. Since Contribute uses the latest version of IE installed in the machine as its embedded browser, this issue might be solved.

  • When I try to use the print/save as pdf option, I get a scripting error and Firefox usually freezes.

On my MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.13, I am trying to save documents as pdfs under the print window, I get a scripting error and Firefox usually freezes/becomes nonresponsive. This happens every time I tried to perform this task.

  • Firefox is slow to open and close. I get a "script error" that says it may be caused by a recently opened tab. What do I do to correct this problem. It is wreaking havoc when trying to open/close or move around the internet.

I am getting a "script error" when I close out the internet, specifically Firefox. My backup internet explorer does not do this. This is slowing down the process of opening/closing Firefox. When I open Mozilla, I get "restore session" even though I have closed everything down. I have "removed program" and re-downloaded Mozilla 3 times and still this problem persists. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

  • Firefox 4.0 is my default browser, and I am receiving a script error message when I try to view online images in Family Tree Maker 2011, a genealogy program. Have not had problems until Firefox 4.0. Can't seem to find a setting in Firefox to fix this.

Error is as follows: Line: 63 Char: 4344 Error: Unable to get value of the property 'offsetHeight': object is null or undefined Code: 0 URL: http://yui.yahooapis.com/combo?2.8.0/build/yuiloader-dom- event/yuiloader-dom-event.js&2.8.0/build/dragdrop/dragdrop- min.js&2.8.0/build/stylesheet/stylesheet- Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Y/N buttons."

I see. Well, I just tried to make IE my default browser, but it did not solve the problem. I receive the same script error when I view the image. (I may not have explained this thoroughly enough at first - I do get to view the image after answering the error message, but the print button embedded in the window doesn't work. Before, I never had a problem with viewing or printing.)
I imagine that at this point I will either need to communicate this to the IE people, or possibly revert to an older version of IE.
