Script error "object expected"

Hello,
I have tried everything I could find on the internet and I still get script error message "object expected" "code 0" in the script http://127.0.0.1:1133/app/_js/adobe.js
during installation. After that the installation just hangs and there is no other way as to kill the process.
Windows XP 32bit
Internet Explorer 8
Thanks,
Vladimir
Solution: workaround over download the standalone installation did it

Hi,
Nice to know that you could solve this issue.
The workaround:
Download the installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header
Close browsers and double-click the installer.

    Hi Ilello,
You said you activated "some" services via SICF.  Please make sure they are all activated as below and see SAP Note 1176990:
ICF services must be activated via transaction SICF:
    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/hreic_vp,
    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/ic_base,
    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/hreic_rt_rep_vp,
    /sap/bc/notify,

    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/sam_sess_queue,
    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/hrrcf_btf_edit.
    /sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_bm
We are in the middle of configuration of the EIC now.  Many parts to put together but we hope the final product will meet our expectations.

  • Error: object expected in WAD-javascript

    hi all,
i have written a .js file which i am using in WAD templates.
there are certain functions which , when i move to the .js file i get the error: object expected.
if i keep those functions in the template i do not get ne error.
i just can't figure out why it is happening.
    please help
    Godhuli

i guess after moving to file in the MIME repository, you have properly linked it. if you still get this error it may be that server cache is causing problem.
you can invalidate the server cache from SMICM transaction. (this you may have to do it every time you change the .js file and reload it to MIME repository)
also check this thread for clearing cache

  • Error "object expected" w/ SWF in HTML

My Captivate 4 SWF file runs fine in my Flare Help page, until I click off elsewhere (not within the movie) I get an error message about an Object expected on line 53. When I remove the SWF demo (or insert an old RoboDemo SWF) I get no error msg. Searching the Web leads me to believe I need the to load (include) the STANDARD.JS file (that Captivate 4 publishes along with the SWF) into the HTML page. However, I have not found how to do that. Can some supply the code and instructions where to put the code and where the standard.js file should reside when delivered to user?
I have tried placing this in the Header of the HTML page:
                   <script src="standard.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
But that didn't do it: same error.
    Roger

    Hi Roger
Too bad you aren't using RoboHelp!
Flare should have the RoboHelp equivalent of a concept known as "Baggage Files". You might ask in the Flare forums about how to set about adding the standard.js as what RoboHelp would know as a Baggage File. Surely Flare has an equivalent. And if not, well, there's always RoboHelp to switch back to!

  • Ehlpdhtm.js script error - Object doesn't support property or method 'Activate'

    RH 9.0.2.271
    Windows 7 64-bit
This "Object doesn't support property or method 'Activate' ehlpdhtm.js error all of a sudden started popping up when I view any of the chms I build from my file system.
I initially through it was a 64-bit problem because if I view the chm from my file system I get the script error. But if I copy it to a 32-bit PC or run it from within RH (after it's compiled for example) or a 32-bit version of our software, it runs fine. (However, one of my co-workers tried it on her 64-bit machine and didn't receive any error.) In any case, it seems to be happening on my machine only.
Anyway, it's not on every topic, but on every one that calls the ehlpdhtm.js script with this line of code, it appears to be happening:
    <script src="ehlpdhtm.js" type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript1.2"></script>
I don't think hhactivex.dll plays with this js at all, but just in case, I unregistred and re-registered that dll to no effect. I also tried explicitly adding in ehlpdhtm.js as a baggage file. Again, to no effect.
What could have changed on my system to make this start happening? And any ideas on how to fix it?

Well here's some more info I found out. If I unregister the 64-bit hhactivex.dll the script error  goes away. Of course my Glossary tab is grayed out as shown below, so that's not really an option:
Reregistering the 64-bit hhactivex.dll again shows the script errors. Plus, if I then go to my glossary it's completely empty as shown here:
If I copy this help down into a 32-bit machine everything works: the glossary has glossary terms, there's no script errors.
In short, I don't know what's going on, but the script error I'm getting is somehow related to having the 64-bit dll registered.

  • Script error "object required" when log off

I have created a new user and assigned the "Everyone" role to it. I log in to the portal using this new user. Then I press logoff. Then I press OK. Now I get the script error below:
    line:91
    char:8
    Error: Object required
    code:0
    URL: http://.....
any idea why I get this error?
note: I don't get a logoff error when I use the administrator or other user IDs.

    Hi,
you are using a customized masthead. InSP14 SAP changed some Javascript and therefor, the "object" your are colling in your logoff() function is missing. You'll have to comment out this JS call in your masthead. Check the IE error message explanation, it will show you the line where the error occurs.
I've already posted the solution in this forum, but unfortunately, I'm not able to find my previous post

do i need to override the method in each n every page... is there any alternate solution for this...

    Hello,
    >> but its showing me error saying 'Object Expected' .. how can i overcome this problem...
Another option is to condition these show/hide functions. You can use something like this:
    if ($x(‘id’)){
       hide(‘id’);
}That will prevent the functions from running if the element ID ‘id’ is not rendered on the page.

  • CE10 Enterprise error "Object Expected" when tyring to view a report.

I'm getting an error when I try to view a report connecting to Crystal Enterprise that states "object Expected".
However I can schedule the report and see the results so the ONLY problem is trying to view the report.
Now, I have searched these forums and I came across and thread with the title "CE10 - Automation server can't create object Error " and the person responding says "...Your solution might be in note #1216330".
So how do I find that note in these forums?
I really need to get this issue resolved.

    Hi Debbie,
The note means the SAP note (Knowledge based article)
You can access the SAP note by going to the Service Market Place (SMP) by using the below link
    http://www.service.sap.com
Click on the SAP note search and put in the above number to search the note.
In case you are not able to get it below is the content of the same note.
1216330 - Err Msg: "...Automation Server can't create object." when launching ePortfolio
    Symptom
In Crystal Enterprise (CE) 8.5 or 9 when ePortfolio is clicked on the Crystal Enterprise Launchpad, the following error occurs:
"There was an error retrieving data from the server: Automation Server can't create object."
Why does this error occur and how can it be resolved?
    Resolution
This error occurs if a Hot Fix is installed under a user account that does not have sufficient rights to correctly install it. If this occurs, Enterpriseframework.dll is not registered with the operating system and Sessionmanager.dll is not loaded correctly.
To resolve this error message, do one of the following things:
" Log on to the CE server using the local administrator account and run the Hot Fix executable again.
    - OR -
    " Reregister Enterpriseframework.dll
    To do this:
    1. Log on to the CE server with the local administrator account.
    2. Open Microsoft Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise 9\win32_x86. Leave Windows Explorer open while performing the rest of this procedure.
    3. Click 'Start', and then click 'Run'. The 'Run' dialog box appears.
    4. In the 'Open' field, type "REGSVR32". Do not click 'OK' yet.
    5. Drag Enterpriseframework.dll from the Windows Explorer window into the 'Open' field of the 'Run' dialog box behind REGSVR32.
You will see the following after you drag the DLL into the 'Open' field:
    REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise9\win32_x86\
    Enterpriseframework.dll"
    6. Click 'OK'.
    The following confirmation appears:
    "DLLRegisterServer in C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise 9\win32_x86\Enterpriseframework.dll succeeded."
Now you can successfully launch ePortfolio from the Crystal Enterprise Launchpad.

  • Microsoft Jscript runtime error: Object expected

I have a Visual Studio 2005 web application that uses a Crystal Viewer to display reports developed in XI. When I run the application on my development PC, I get no error, even with the debug turned on in IE7.  When I run the application on my PC, using the web server address  and click on the drop down to select the parameter, I get an error that says; u201CMicrosoft Jscript runtime error: Object expectedu201D.  Both my development PC and the code published on the web server use the fully qualified report path down to the webserver name.  No problem on my development PC running in Visual Studio, but a problem accessing the server.  The onClick portion is the highlighted area is where the debug  stops.  This is code that is created from crystal.  Originally, I was getting an error; 'Load Report Failed', but once I used the full path name of the report down the the webserver name, that error disappeared. I have XI installed on the web server and I can open and run the reports there.  What am I missing on the web server?  Thanks.

That would be the CR Service Pack located here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006255422008E/crxir2_sp4_inc.exe
You will then have to ensure that the same runtime is on the server. Use the msm or msi files from here:
    http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/crxir2sp4_net_merge_modules.zip
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009657852008E/crxir2sp4_net_si.zip
I'd recommend the msi as it does not require you to build a deployment project. Ensure that you uninstall the current CR runtime on the server. Also, once that is done, check to make sure that the c:\program files\business objects directory is removed. Then install the CR runtime using the above msi file.

Not able to figure out why this occurs.. am I doing it the right way ?

Do you think is this the right way to include .js file...

  • "Object expected" JavaScript error in IE7/IE8 using AC_RunActiveContent v1.7

So this is a low-priority but annoying problem I seem to be having on a site with the AC_RunActiveContent embedding script that Flash CS3 automatically generates (v1.7, according to the comments). In IE7 and IE8, I keep getting these alerts when the page first come up:
    Line: 39
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    Code: 0
    URL: etc.
What's weird is that Line 39 of the file seems to be in the midst of a try-catch thing, so I don't see why that error should even be showing up. Mind you, the site is working fine - the Flash shows up fine - like I said, not high-priority. I'd just like to try and get rid of that error if I can. Anyone else have any idea what's going on here, and how I might be able to fix it?

Bump. Also, additional details: Yes, I did upload the script to the server. Yes, it's being found and read properly by the browsers, including IE7 and IE8; I've confirmed this using the Developer's Toolbar. So it's not the same problem that everyone who's asked about this before has had; yes, I did dig up those posts via Google before I came here, and yes, I have made sure. So any other thoughts?

  • Script Error when I try to Preview a report

Dear Experts, I have this issue when I try do a open a report by clicking Preview in CMC,  I get a parameter screen where I have to plug the values. When I try to click on the calendar icon to pick up the dates I get this error message:
    Internet Explorer Script Error
    Line: 251
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    URL: .... prompting1.html
I imported the same report in the test server and I can select the calendar dates on the parameter screen just fine.
    I'm on BOXI R2, Windows Server 2003.
I followed the instruction of un-checking the and checking the "Disable Script Debugging" in Internet Options Advanced tab. That did not help.  I also made sure that the preferences in CMC has "ActiveX" under Crystal Report Viewer.
Kindly help me fix this issue.

I too feel it is something with IE itself. I can open the calendar on the parameter screen after I migrated the report in the test environment with IE7.0. My dev system has IE6.0 and I was unable open the calendar. So I thought maybe it is the version. But when I open the dev CMC on my workstation (with IE7.0), I still was unable to open the calendar in the parameter screen. So that rules out IE version.
URL is also listed under Trusted sites. Moreover, if I type the dates manually, then report works fine too. But if I click on the calendar icon to select the dates, then I get this error.
    Any help is appreciated.
