  • App made in Flash run SLOW on Android device

Hi everyone! I´ve made a test of an intro for an app in Flash CC 2014. Air for Android. It´s about 100 frames. Only the intro. This intro is about some banners that have a little blury effects and motion. When I preview it on my Notebook, runs perfect. But when I publish it for device and test it on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 runs VERY SLOW. What can I do?! Does anybody have an advice for me? I´m new at this. I´ll apreciate your tips. Maybe I´m doing things in flash that can´t run properly in android devices. I also must say that I´m working with symbols (about 15) that are brought from Photoshop in .PNG. But low resolution. I´m not working with Flash generated images or Vectors from Illustrator. Well, think thats it. Thanks!

    Hi,
Could you please share your content for us to understand the issue?
    Thanks!

  • [HELP] All versions of Flash running slow!

I'm using Vista 64 on a more then adequate laptop, I initially used Flash CS4 and it was great for the past week but a few days ago it started geting really slow, whenever I copy, change frame, select something, basicaly any change action I have to wait about 5 seconds or more for a reaction. I'm using it for simple animation, no symbols, just 3 layers. I have a deadline coming up for my final production and if I can't fix this fast I'm screwed. I've tried every solution I can find, including trying Flash CS3 and Flash 8, nothing seems to fix the slow speed. PLEASE any help would be super appreciated.

The dimensions of the FLA file won't make a difference, it just matters what kind of content in it (it may make a difference if the bigger size means you tend to put more things in it, that's all )
By resources I'm just meaning what's going on in the Task Manager (alt-ctrl-del and choose Task Manager or right-click the lower right corner of your screen and choose Task Manager). Flash may be using a lot of memory because there are a lot of vectors in the document. You can watch it go up and down when you make selections and so on. The rest of your computer may be fine, but each time you select something in Flash, Flash has to process all of the vectors/information in your selection then figure out how to manipulate (and so on). For instance, you can import a bitmap with the dimensions of your document and "trace bitmap" - in some cases you can kill the processor creating that many vectors (it's simply a ton of data to process).
Are there particular instances that are slower than others in this document?  You have tried this in earlier versions and it's equally slow in those as well?
You may want to save an alternate version of this FLA and try optimizing the graphics and see if you find there's a big improvement with that.

  • Mountain lion making everything run slow

    Hi guys
since downloading and installing Mountain lion on my Macbook Pro feb 2011 i have been having a long lag when running safari and basically any other apple apps i try to use that need to connect to the internet.
on safari it takes so long to load anything that it times out or comes up with a message saying safari cant load the page. although my internet with sky is slow (between 500-800kbps) however it is not slow enough to do this. it is particularly difficult to load data rich sites like bbc or facebook.
    1. can i reverse the install and go back to lion
    2. if not is there anything i can do to stop this happening.
    3. HELP!!! its driving me insane!
    thanks
    Aimee

I have the same problem with a MBAir with 2GB of RAM. The system was very fast before mountain Lion. Now I have the same problems I had before with Snow Leopard. The Keyboard is slow (I write faster than the keyboard is able to respond), the browsers are slow to respond. I have a solution that helps a little bit whish a little app called "Free Memory" and yes, zap the pram helps also. There is another app called Onyx that can fix things. You may have disk permissions issues after the install. I reccomend this before you roll back your installation. I really regret that I upgraded...hopefully Apple will fix things soon in the meantime I just have to live with it and be carefull with memory eating programs like google chrome, safari and Proclaim. I should have known better and waited a couple of months befor upgrading on a 2009 MBAir...

  • Script on page causing flash player to run slow

I am trying to use webmaker( magix) and as I get to the load
page I get this message... script on this page is making flash
player run slow and may cause computer to be unresponsive do you
want to abort after 4 days of trying could anyone tell me what the
    problem could be please

I don't understand why I would use onEnterFrame(). The entire
program only needs one frame to exist on, but maybe I don't
understand how Flash needs to manage these things. I am a C++/Cocoa
programmer rewriting a program that my boss made years ago in
Visual BASIC. What made it work for him was to call DoEvents every
600 itterations, which pauses the execution so that the system can
catch up with it's own stuff. Are you saying that onEnterFrame will
do this too? How will this work if the calculation only starts when
a button is pressed. Does the entire calculation routine need to
take place on a different frame?
    Could you explain these things?

  • HT2711 I used the "repair disk utility" to see why my computer is running slow but it gives me an error message saying, "disk utility can't repair this disk, and restore your backed up files.  My computer was running slow and taking some time to load page

I haven't used my computer in a month, so when I turned it on, I saw it was running slow. The circle that is used to load the page kept coming up and it took sometime for things to load up. I tried to go Into safe mode, and it worked, but I know your limited on what you can do in that world. I also tried to repair the disk but it kept giving me an error message. How can I resolve this problem?

Time Machine is a back up you have to set up to back up before there is a problem like a hard drive failure.
It is possible to recover files from a failed drive, but it is an expensive proposition.
There is a faint hope that an app like Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro might repair the drive. You could try making an appointment at an Apple store and ask a technician there to take a look... the diagnosis will not cost you.

  • MacBook Pro running slow after USB flash drive

I mount a Kingston USB flash drive to my 30 days old MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.4
My Mac didn't recognize, so I inserted another one and it did recognize it.
And I notice my mac was running slow, some task that I did the day before (illustrator cs6) were really fast.
But after that USB flash drive it went slow, I thought it was and error and reebot it, also cleaning out the Cache and other stuff with CleanMyMac.
But it continues to run slow.
Please if someone knows what I can do I will appreciate it.

  • Flash runs unbearably slow on my Powerbook, help!

    Heya,
So I'm running a 12" Powerbook with a 1.33 Ghz G4, 1.25 GB RAM, and an NVidia GeForce FX Go5200 64MB RAM... Flash runs unbearably slow on my machine and it just happened all of the sudden. Although this issue came up the first time about two years ago I just bore the burden of it. But being a web developer it's just ridiculous. Now this only happens with videos, and no it's not related to the buffer, I've read that there an issue with Flash rendering techniques that caused it to slow down dramatically at like Flash 8 or something. I desperately need help resolving this and I'm wondering if anyone can help?? Thanks!

    Hello,
How much available disk space is there?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Your Mac needs free disk space in order to render video. Could that be the issue?
Wouldn't hurt to check the boot disk for errors:
If not, shut down PBook. Now, press the power button, hold down the C key, and insert the restore disk all at the same time. Keep holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo. An Installer window will open but DO NOT proceed with any installations, instead from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. In the DU window, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab and click: Verify If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar select Utilities/Startup Disk and select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.

    Hi Jon,
Dreamweaver the following errors show up in the JavaScript.Log. I deleted the .dat file but no difference. I am not so confident in how to delete the preference file. I have been following the instructions (see link)
    https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/restore-preferences-dreamweaver-cs6-cc.html
    Windows:
    ~Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 (folder)
    \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 (registry entry)
When Dreamweaver launches, it creates new preferences files and folder.
How do I get rid of these errors?

Try renaming the configuration folder that holds the .dat file first, before attempting to restore preferences.
Many times that will take care of it without having to do all the work required after a pref-reset.

  • Getting Flash Player Security Error when running extension.

I had created a nifty utility which uses a Flash interface.  It worked fine in CS3, but after upgrading to CS4, I keep getting the Flash Player Security Error popup when I run it.
    =======================================
    Adobe Flash Player Security
Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.
The following local application on your computer or network:
    C:\Program%20Files\Adobe\%20Photoshop%20CS4\Presets\...\ChopBot.swf
is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
    <unknown>
To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings.
You must restart the application after changing your settings.
    [OK] [Settings...]
In CS3, opening the Global Security Settings panel and adding the script's path to the trusted locations would fix this problem, and the utility would work going forward.
In CS4, however, adding the script's path to the trusted locations seems to have no effect.
I am using the ExternalInterface class in the Flash UI to communicate to and from the JavaScript.
Has anyone else run into this issue and found a solution?

    Welcome to our community, Rachel
Where are you running your movie from? If you are planning on
running them from a server, there should be no need to worry about
your end user seeing those messages. However, if you are planning
on each user copying them to their own hard drive or if you are
running from a CD-ROM, you may need to perform some trickery to
    make them work without issue.
The message is occurring because there are links in some of
the files that point to internet resources and the Flash player is
seeing that as a potential security risk. So it is blocking the
action until you pat it on the head and assure it the world will
not, in fact, end if it shows you the content.
If you wish to banish the screen on your PC, take a look at
    the tutorial linked below.

I'll hold off on the other bit until I'm certain what we are
    dealing with.

  • Calc scripts are running slow(all of a sudden)

All of a sudden, for the past few days, we are noticing that all our calc scripts have been running very slow.
The same scripts used to run much faster earlier.
Has anybody seen this kind of scenario?
We did a RAM upgrade on the eas server, and have restarted all services.
Other than that, nothing has changed in our system.
    Thanks.

It can be quite common for calcs to slow down over time, but there are some things to do to mitigate this.
    1. Are you using Intelligent Calc? All things being equal (a very broad statement in essbase, since things are never equal) if there is more activity by users, it could affect how many blocks are marked dirty. This is probably not your issue, because a properly written calc wouldn't slow down much for this reason. I had to mention it though because I have seen an installation where their calc was 'Calc All' and they used intelligent calc to create the scope of the calc. (bad, very bad)
    2. Do you perform DB restructures? (either explicity by Restructuring or by exporting level 0, clearing and import level 0 then agg) If this is not done on a regular basis (regular depends on the usage of the cube) then you could be experiencing fragmentation, which increases the size of the database, increasing run times.
    3. Have you just added another fiscal year to the database? More data means bigger database.
RAM upgrade on the EAS server shouldn't affect calc times (unless essbase services are also running on the EAS server, then there might be something to it).
Most of these (and other) issues can be mitigated by applying proper scope to your calcs (Fix statements).
What environment are you running in? Windows or Unix?
    New application?
What kind of time increases are we talking about here?

    Hi,
Maybe you should take a look at your Firefox add-ons and get rid of the ones you don't really need. Also, you have two torrent items mentioned in your report. Downloading torrents runs the risk of bringing in malware.
Another thing to do as maintenance is to start into Recovery -- holding down Command and R keys together while booting up -- and using Disk Utility (bottom of the box that appears) to Verify your disk and Repair disk permissions.
    Regards.

They replaced my Logic Board and it is still happening less than a week from the date that it was fixed. why is this happening, and how can i stop it?

Call the Apple store asap. Let them know what is going on, and make an appointment with the genius.  Make sure it gets taken care of before your 1 year warranty runs out in 2 months (unless you have AppleCare).  If this issue was happening and was "fixed", obviously it wasn't and Apple needs to take care of this.

  • Loading script "script path-name" failed (0xC0000006) error when running scripts from DFS

We have this issue where any number of random scripts that execute at startup will produce the following error when run from DFS:
The status code for this error equates to STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR - The instruction at 0x%p referenced memory at 0x%p. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0x%x.
This does not always happen each time and the script can be random. If we move the script(s) to a non DFS, we do not see this. I believe the issue is being caused by a minute disconnect to the DFS for whatever script is attempting to execute at that
moment. This happens across a few (consistent) offices on different computers.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you run scripts in a shared folder which is added to a DFS Namespace, then the error prompt. However, you can run the scripts when you directly access the shared folder.
What scripts did you run? Is there any error message in the Event Log? If so, please provide us the detailed error message for our further research.
    Best Regards,

  • CS3 script runs slow with CS4 and CS5

I have written a table transformation script for InDesign CS3, which formats an imported Excel table.
With InDesign CS3 the script runs well. Now I tried the same script with InDesign CS4 and CS5 and it runs very slow. It's about 10 times slower than with CS3.
I tried to turn off redrawing, but this didn't help. It even got slower again!
Does someone has made similar experiences? Could you solve the performance issue?
Do scripts in CS4/CS5 generally run slower than in CS3?
Does CS4 differ so much to CS3 that the script runs 10 times slower?
What can I do to improve the execution performance?
Thanks for any tips / advices etc.

I now have made some tests with profile / timing. Here are the results.
you find the code snipped below. It iterates first over all rows and then over all cells inside of the row. In the cell iteration, the function hasGapInLineBelow(...) does more iterations.
The example is with a table of 42 rows and 9 cells.
    I have compared CS3 and CS5
    there are 3 test cases:
for 1/1 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 1 (statements for first row and first cell done)
for 1/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 1 and second for loop is in iteration 9 (statements for first row and all 9 cells of the row done)
for 2/9 means: first for-loop is in iteration 2 and second for loop is in iteration 2 (statements for second row and all 9 cells of the row done)
it's strange that normal variable assignments take lot of time (like the statement startPos = indexLeftNeightbourOfCurrentCell;) -> I don't understand why this can be so time consuming!?!
it's also strange why in "for 1/9" and "for 2/9" variable assignments take much longer than in "for 1/1"...
could I use another data type than array for the variable isMergedRow? Which one?
do you know any performance optimizations?
in which time unit ExtendScript Toolkit shows the measured periods?
how are the times calculated in loops? Are these the times sumed up over all iterations or is it just the time for a single statement?
