Script to make the text bold or italic
I saw someone suggested the following code to meet the need:
var app = new Illustrator.Application();
var doc = app.ActiveDocument;
var bold = doc.CharacterStyles["Bold"];
var italic = doc.CharacterStyles["Italics"];
var frame = doc.TextFrames[0];
bold.ApplyTo(frame);
italic.ApplyTo(frame);
But it does work in my case since "doc.CharacterStyles["Bold"];" and "doc.CharacterStyles["Italics"]" declare an error message of "No such element". Is there another way that I can try to make the text bold or italic?

How to make the text bold in tablix
Hi All,
In a SSRS report I have one table
one of the field value is like "MLA 2008 : Bandeppa Khashemp JDS " ,"MLA 2013 : Ashok Kheny KMP".
My requirement is to display the value like "MLA 2008 : BANDEPPA
KASHEMPUR JDS" ," MLA 2013 : ASHOK KHENY KMP
Can anyone help me on this
Thanks in Advance...
Krishna.NIf you can modify the field value, you can set it to "<b>MLA 2006 :</b> BANDEPPA ..." and then set the placeholder/textbox Markup Type to HTML.
If you always have a fixed number of characters that will be bold, you can have a placeholder with the expression for example:
=Left( Fields!MyValue.Value, 10 )
and make that placeholder bold. Then have another placeholder to display the rest of the text.
As a 3rd option, you can perhaps make a VB.net function in the report code, that takes the value and adds the <b> html tags to it based on some logic, but you need to determine yourself how and where to place the tags.

How do I make multiple text bold, for example scene headings or character names?
How do I make multiple text bold, for example scene headings or character names?
You can do that by editing the template of the document.
Open the document, go to Edit->Template. A dialog will launch which will have element types on the left and it's properties on the right.
Select Scene Heading(or Character name) on the left. On the right, go to 'Text' tab and click on Bold checkbox.
Press OK.
Hope this helps.

on the mousepad of the macbook, if you take your thumb and index finger and swipe them either together,or apart,it make the text smaller or bigger... this used to work on firefox,but doesn't seem to work anymore,and i was wondering if there is a setting that i can change to get this working again....
Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu. -
How can i make the text go vertically in numbers
How can I make the text vertical in numbers? I have merged the cells and cannot find an option for making it go vertical as opposed to horizontal.
I already gave two tools to fit this kind of needs.
tip #1 :
--{code}
--[SCRIPT write_vertically]
--=====
--=====
Save the script as a Script: write_vertically.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
<startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numbers:
Maybe you would have to create the folder Numbers and even the folder Applications by yourself.
In a cell, type a word to write vertically then select it.
CAUTION, don’t select the cell but the word which must be highlighted.
Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Numbers, then choose “write_vertically”
The script insert in the cell the word after inserting a return between every characters.
For my own use, I link a shortcut to the script thank to FastScripts.

The Finder’s Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the “Show Script Menu in menu bar” checkbox.
Under 10.6.x,
go to the General panel of AppleScript Editor’s Preferences dialog box
and check the “Show Script menu in menu bar” option.

Is there any way to make the text in ios 7 easier on the eye?
My Mom and CoWorker (they are both 50+) both did the upgrade to ios 7 and new coloring and font has been extremely hard on their eyes. Is there anything that can be done to help alleviate it? Their biggest complaint is that it's "TOO white". And just changing the background isn't going to help because there is the same problem in the new Calendar.
I am trying to make the calendar readable also. I am soooo disappointed because making the text bold or bigger and changing the contrast does not affect the calendar. I will not change my mac until this problem is solved!

I cannot figure out how to make the text larger in a received email. The finger method doesn't work and I can find no tool bar as I can for composing emails. I can find nothing in settings. Please help and thank you in advance.
Hi there,
Download a piece of software called TinkerTool - that might just solve your problem. I have used it myself to change the system fonts on my iMac. It is software and not an app.
Good wishes,

How can I make the text crisper and less blurry on my MacBook Pro?
I just purchased my first MacBook Pro, and I absolutely love it, save for one potential deal breaker: The text displays blurry. Instead of stark, black on white text, there is a slight halo of grey (or whatever color the font is in) around every character. It makes the text look nice, but much harder to read. The characters are deliberately out of focus. Apparently this is normal, according to this article: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2015823073_ptmrsh06.htm l
Is there a way to fix (or work around) this? As a writer, I cannot type for eight hours a day on a computer that "softens" the text. I have tried adjusting my screen resolution (it's at the highest possible) and turning off "font-smoothing" (it's off). Nothing works. I called Apple support and they couldn't help me either. I can't believe there's not an easy fix for this.Humor me.
Let's revisit the things you did, because they -should- have fixed the problems.
!) to set screen resolution, you MUST use:
System Preferences > Displays ...
Use of the MenuBar item simply shows the last three chosen, not all available.
And what is the screen resolution you are using now? 13" 15" or 17" display? Do you have the default glossy screen or the enhanced matte display?
2) font smoothing.
System Preferences > Appearance.
I see no OFF. I see a checkbox to default to LCD smoothing, and I see "turn off font smoothing for characters smaller than nn point", where nn is 4 to 12.
How do you have these set? -

How to make the text in sub-division
Hi,
I am usign text module in my adobe forms.
Text in text module contains sub-divisions as a), b) and c). Each sub-division are in a separate line.
While in pdf, all the sub-division combines and comes a single paragraph.
What would be the problem for this issue? Any Idea?
May I know how to make the text in sub-division as in text module?
Thanks,
Thiyagu
Edited by: Thiyagu on Oct 26, 2009 7:08 PMHello, experiment with Object - Field tab. Do you have your text field with "allow multiple lines" checked? I guess so. And what about the field format? Plain text or Rich text? Please try:)) Regards, Otto

This is probably a dumb question, but I can't find an answer. How do I make the text on my calendar larger so I can actually read it when I print it out? I am using a MacBook.
Press "Command P" and when the Print dialogue box comes up, towards the bottom there is an option allowing you to choose the text size, i.e: small, med, large.
Hope this helps,
