Opening images via Bridge to photoshop CS6

Hi,
We are teaching 3 young 8 year olds Dreamweaver CS6 and Photoshop CS6 (recent installations). We are going fine with Dreamweaver but then we needed to learn how to manipulate images. In particular make new logos for the site and create images for uplaoding from the camera.
We are new to photoshop CS6 but wouldn't expect the issues we are getting right now.
We can't open jpegs completely. We get a transparent background or just a part image. Must be something we are doing wrong I guess. It looks fine in Bridge but really isn't loading well in Photoshop.

By the way this is a site http://brianmellady.com which we are using dreamweaver for. We have made a members login page which appears to be working but as you can see unfortunately we badly need to create a logo and make some images for their site which isn't created yet. If I can keep them from games and from Minecraft then we will make progress
It needs to be ready soon so that I can get a domain for them and host it on my Dad's servers.

If you are having trouble using Photoshop you will probably get better results if you post in one of the Photoshop forums. While are are available from the page linked below, the General Discussion one at the top is the most popular, though there is the new one for beginners if you think that might be better.

Can't open RAW Nikon files (NEF) using PS3 10.0 running 10.6.8 , think there is a conflict with camera Raw plug-in. Can't open raw images in bridge or photoshop.

I think I may have a Camera Raw plug-in conflict or plug in may be in the wrong place. In both PS3 and Bridge Nikon raw files (NEF) will not open. I've noticed that in photoshop in the pull down menu-about plug-in, I have 2 Camera Raw (s) listed, getting info one is 4.0, the other 4.6.0.30. It appears that my files and .xmp are 4.0 just by searching for 'Camera Raw' either 4. or 4.6 in spotlight. nothing is listed in spotlight under camera raw 4.6, but all my images are listed in the spotlight if I search for camera raw 4.0! I can not open either in Bridge or Photoshop CS3 I just receive the error message 'could not complete this request because photoshop does not reconize this type of file'. any help would this is greatfully appreciated. Well if you have a fairly new Nikon camera PS CS3 will not have the proper version of ACR to support that camera.
You could use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the NEF files to DNGs or you can update PS to a newer version that does have support for newer cameras or you could buy Adobe Lightroom V4 which also has support for the newer Nikon cameras.

Can't open NEF in Bridge and Photoshop

Hi. I can't open my D800 Nikon NEF images in Bridge and Photoshop CS 6 of Creative Suite. However the jpgs from the D800 will open........ What to do. This is on an iMac that is 6 years old. What to do+
I have no problems opening the NEF on my newer laptop using the same software.

You'll need at least Camera Raw 7.1 to open D800 images. Go to your Help menu in Photoshop and choose Updates.
If that doesn't work, there's a way to download later Camera Raw updates manually, but Adobe has chosen to hide it for some unfathomable reason. I guess they're under the mistaken impression that the updater always works.

Option missing to open images as layers in Photoshop.

The option to edit in Photoshop CS4 from Lightroom 4 and return is just fine. However, the option to Open images as layers in Photoshop is grayed out as well as the option to open as Smart Object or Merge.

These other options work differently than the simple "Edit in..".
The method that does work for you, with CS4, is using Photoshop as a standard external editor by means of a "dumb" interaction. LR does all the work of converting the image into a bitmp and then saving it as a TIFF or PSD. It knows just enough about the other program, to tell the operating system to start the program executable and to pass it the file that has already been created. Then it keeps an eye on the file, watching for modifications saved to it by the other application.
The only compatibility needed between the two programs is: that PS (or whatever) can understand a TIFF or a PSD made by LR; and in return, that PS (or whatever) can save a modified file which LR can display.
The extended options you mention, rely on LR getting PS to get ACR to do all the work of conversion, and then in due course, for PS to take care of file creation too, and furthermore, to tell LR which file has been created where. This is partly because several conversions are involved rather than one; conversions made directly into Photoshop's memory space but not yet onto disk; which is ACR territory.
In order for this more complex interaction to happen, LR needs to be talking to a fully-compatible PS and ACR partnership - which it knows will properly read all its adjustments, and include them in the bitmap information. At present, from LR4, that means either Photoshop CS6 with ACR 7.x - or else (as a special concession), Photoshop CS5 with ACR 6.7. Unless one of those two setups is detected, these forms of interaction are greyed out. Sorry

Opening photo from bridge into photoshop converts to smart object

Instead of opening the psd-file normally from bridge into photoshop the file converts to smart object.
I used to work with CS3 where double-clicking in Bridge on a psd-file would open it in Photoshop. Now, when I double click in Bridge (CS6) it opens a "quick time pro" file, which I definitely don't want. When I use the right mouse to "place in Photoshop" it does so, but then automatically converts the file into a smart object, which I don't want either. What need I do to open a psd-file in Bridge as normal psd-file in Photoshop?

association. when I click on the little arrow on that line it "searches"
and shows all the files in the "program X86" on the C-drive. but I don't
know what to associate it with, or said differently, I don't know what file
in "programX86" to associate it with.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
So this is solved.

DAZ Studio 3D Bridge for Photoshop 11.14.07

I just installed the DAZ Studio 3D Bridge for Photoshop. the manual says it is under Photoshop > File > Automate > DAZ Studio 3D Bridge. it is supposed to work with PSE2 and up but the "automation tools" submenu in PSE4 (there is no ""automate") is disabled

Have you checked over on the DAZ forums? Which version of DAZ Studio? Last I heard through the DAZ forum grapevine was the plugin doesn't work properly with the last few versions of DAZ Studio. I think DAZ Studio 1.7.9 was the last version in which the plugin functioned correctly. If you have 1.7.9, you might check if you've made DAZ an exception through your firewall so DAZ and Elements can "talk".
At any rate, you'll probably get a lot more information about the issue over on the DAZ forums. This DAZ forum thread should be of help...

Where do the photos imported from my xperia to my macbook using bridge for mac software get stored?

Using bridge for mac software, I tried to import photos from my xperia to my macbook. It was shown that the import was successful. But I cant find the imported pictures in my iPhotos folder or anywhere else. Why is it so?

Unresponsive cc photoshop opening image from bridge

OK, just signed up for the cc. I have just tried to open a PSD from Bridge into Photoshop and Photoshop opens, but the image doesn't load, and, and Photoshop is all locked up. What's going on and how do I get it to work?

Canon 5d iii, Cant open my Raw images in bridge or photoshop

I have installed the most recent updates (8.3) and I still can't open my Raw files in bridge or photoshop CS5. Can someone please help me?

What have you installed that is version 8.3?
Camera Raw 8.3 is not compatible with CS5. You can go to PS-CS5 / Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw and see what version you have.
If you mean you have installed the DNG Converter 8.3, then installing it isn’t’ enough, you have to run it and convert your raw files to DNGs so they will open in an older version of the ACR plug-in.

Opening image in PS for editing

I have been using Bridge and thought I'd download a LR trial and see how it works. I like the interface, but have one problem that may be a preference setting I cannot find. I am used to double-clicking on the thumbnail to open it for editing in PS. I cannot seem to do that in LR. The only way I can open an image is to right-click and then select 'Edit in' and select 'Photoshop'.
Is there an easier way?

Unable to open image from bridge to ps

Am running Windows 7 64 bit, with CS5 64 bit.
When I try and open a tiff file in Bridge to Photoshop, no dice.
Control/O does nothing.
"Open with" wants to open in Internet Explorer 9 (default).
No trouble opening from Bridge to ACR.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Under Bridge>pref>file type assoc. are listed three items:    Internet Explorer 9.00
                                                                                                       Com surrogate 6.1
                                                                                                       Brouse
"Brouse" goes right to the "MY documents" folder, in which are listed many folders but not Photoshop.
I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Can you help me find Photoshop?

the canon 5d markIII camera raw files to dng copies which should then open in photoshop cs4.
