Script with Premiere Pro CS3.

Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to create script for Premiere Pro CS3. Is there a tutorial for that?
The script I would like to create is the following:
Adding a context menu entry to the bin that would execute a prompt command. Do you think it would be possible ?
Regards,
Steven

Unfortunately not. No.

  • Using XVID with Premiere Pro CS3?

I'm trying to export to video using XVID encoder, two pass. I start the first pass, an XVID status window appears, and then it appears to get stuck.
Has anyone here used XVID with Premiere Pro CS3? If so, any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll try the options on XVID. Currently I've been exporting to raw AVI, then using AutoGK. I normally don't do use XVID, but for a partcicular racing game, there are some telephone wires that appear less aliased with XVID mpeg4, than the encoders you get with Premiere. I've tried the mpeg2, mpeg4, and windows encoders, and don't get quite the same results. One of the final destinations is a you tube "hi-def" video. I also make windows movie files since they also can be viewed while streaming via Windows Movie player. My web host throttles throughput to 350kb per second now, so I keep most of my videos at 640x480 at around 1972kbps for the video, 128kbps for the audio. <br /><br />Example wmv video from racing game<br />http://jeffareid.net/nfsuc/nucreoznds.wmv<br /><br />Example youtube video same video (<ctrl>+click to open new window):<br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQuRfJMgsms&fmt=22<br /><br />Better example of youtube video, I don't know if it's content related or if youtube compressed better. This video was uploaded well before youtube had hi-def, but apparently they keep the original and re-encoded it for me. This is of a radio control glider at a slope site. • Startup with Premiere Pro CS3 - few questions

    Hi,
I am totally newbie to video editing (and to ADOBE CS programs).
    To introduce, here's my setup.
New camcorder (Canon VIXIA HV30, HDV format, miniDV) - still in the owner manual for very basic things...
Premiere Pro CS3 (soon CS4 as entitled to upgrade)
    Vista x64 Home Premium
    Core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz, 4GB RAM
    Firewire card
I just started to fool around with CS3 and with this camcorder, doing some tests (I use the mini DV HD tapes).
When I capture to Premiere, here are some of the annoying things happening :
    1) instead of viewing in real time what is happening, I get a multilingual screen saying that tape is being captured... (very very useful !!...)
    2) when I playback the scene, I see edges of things kind of blinking white - just the edges - some sort of what I would call 'distortion' but maybe it's not the right term... Is this just a matter of not having a high-end video card and then, I should not worry: the editing I would do would not appear on a DVD or a published video ? Or, am I doing something wrong ? (last but not least: does it have to do with the camera ? - although I do not see this when watching on the camera side viewer.)
    3) This camera can shoot 30p, 24p, hi-def (but HDV format - not AVCHD): what should be the setup to choose :
    - on the camera ?
    - when I launch Premiere and am prompted with a window to choose format?
Let's start with these basic questions...
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Rob,
1.) You *may* have problems with CS3 and 64-bit OS. CS4 is optimized to work with (though it is still a 32-bit app) 64-bit OS. Things *should* be better. CS3 works beautifully with 64-bit OS for some. Others are not so lucky.
2.) With the Capture of HDV, you will not get real-time Capture preview - nature of the beast.
3.) Can you post a tiny amount of this footage, or a still cap to show what it looks like?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Dynamic Link Question (with Premiere Pro CS3)

I'm using Dynamic Link to bring a composition from After Effects CS3 into Premiere Pro CS3.
It's just a basic DV 720 x 480 project - the composition lays over my video, so I'd like to use the dynamic link composition instead of rendering the composition as an uncompressed AVI 32-bit.
My question is - if I just render the dynamic link and use that in my final video edit - is there any quality loss - as opposed to rendering the composition from AE as a 32 Bit AVI and then importing that AVI into PP?
    Thanks
    FOO

There is no loss in quality. After all, Dynamic Link is nothing more than an invisible instance of AE that renders each frame just as AE would standalone. However, depending on the complexity of the compositions and resulting memory requirements, you may experience problems or the render may be noticeably slow.

  • Big Issues with Premiere Pro CS3 and Boris Graffiti 5

Is anyone else having major problems running Premiere CS3 with Graffiti 5 or the Graffiti update 5.1? I've downloaded every know driver, update, etc.. and I still lock up when trying to build a composition. After working on this for over 6 hours today, I finally uninstalled Graffiti 5. My system is brand new, been editing 14 years, but this is unbelievable. Even my tech is having problems running these two programs together. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you asked if they are CS3 compatible?

  • HD camera compatible with Premiere Pro CS3?

What is the cheapest high definition camera compatible with PPCS3? Or, best deal for the money without spending a fortune? If not a particular brand/model, what output formats can I look for and be sure of native compatibility? I also would prefer a camera that records to an internal hard drive and/or flash card.
Thank you very, very much in advance!

    Attention Ayn Randian,
Getting camera advice from the user forum may prove a contentious issue.  I don't doubt you'll get the opinions of a couple of different users who have very differing views.  I'd suggest you call Adobe Tech Help or look for it in the 'Knowledgebase" where you can find a list of cameras Adobe 'supports' with CS3.  Go with what Adobe states it supports, not the regards of users on this forum.  Take for example the other post listed here.  HDV is definitely a good choice when looking into camera options.  However not just 'Any hdv camera will do', and any user that infers otherwise is not assisting you.  Going out and buying even a good hdv camera may leave you with a unit that isn't supported by Adobe and hence useless.  As previously indicated Adobe supply's a list of compatible cameras, use it.  Otherwise I suggest you do not purchase a camera unless you know for sure whether it will work with Adobe CS3.

  • Help with Premiere Pro CS3

I am having problems with getting the audio track to go into the audio layer that I would like for it to go in.  I am trying to get the audio track to go into layer 1; however, it keeps dropping  into audio layer 3. Please tell me what I can do to get audio and video to place properly in the layers that I want them to go into.

Probably the easiest way to assure that your Audio goes where you want it (so long as it is an appropriate Audio Track, per the answer above), is to Lock your existing Audio Track (mobile device's Audio Track), and then drag your SB Audio Clip below the Master Track. A new, appropriate Audio Track will be created for you. Note: Locking is not required, but does protect that Audio Track from a "dragging accident."
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS when done, you can go to Sequence and Delete Unused, checking Audio Tracks to "tidy" things up a bit. You can also Rename each Audio Track (and Video Track) to suit your needs. You are not locked into Audio 1, etc.

  • Audio in Premiere Pro CS3 appears on one PC, not the other

    Hi everyone,
I'm the Network Administrator for a high school and we have a digital media lab here using Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection.  All systems here are running Windows XP Professional and are on a Windows domain.  All users are standard users, with no administrative rights for obvious security reasons.  When I originally did the deployment of the lab by running sysprep on a reference computer and using ghost to deploy the rest of the computers, I noticed a problem with Premiere Pro CS3 after the deployment.  In that lab, none of the computers would capture video via firewire and the built in capture function in Adobe Premiere CS3.  I believe I have a post about this on these forums that was never resolved.  To get around this, I'd capture the footage for students in my office and then transfer it over to their network drives so they could import it into Premiere Pro CS3 and edit the footage.
Recently, the school purchased some HD cameras that record to a built in hard drive or an SDHC card.  The idea here was that the .MTS files could be copied from the camera to the computer running Premiere Pro CS3, the media files in .MTS format [at 1280x720] could be converted using KoyoteSoft's Free HD Converter using the settings MPEG2 [a preset], MPG2 as the format, 1280x720 // 16/9, 29.97 FPS, 9000 video bitrate, and 224 audio bitrate, and then the new media files could be imported into Premiere Pro CS3 and edited using the HDV 720p30 preset within Premiere Pro CS3.
This works great...on my office computer.
The problem is that if any student tries to import their footage on a computer in the digital media lab, the converted media files, the exact same ones that just imported into my Premiere Pro CS3 installation on a computer in my office with identical hardware as the computers in the digital media lab, fail to import the audio.  I can see the video with no problems in the lab, but no audio layer appears.  If I right click the video file and choose Open With> VLC or another media player, the media plays fine with audio.  All audio/video codecs that are installed on my machine are also installed on the digital media machines.  If I right click Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 from within a student account on those computers and choose Run As and use the local administrator account, Premiere Pro CS3 does the exact same thing, it still can't see the audio.  Adobe CS3 is fully up to date on both my office computer and all digital media computers.
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, spring break is coming up here this coming week and I'll be here all week.  Hoping to get this resolved during that time so students can edit their own movies.  Again, video imports, audio doesn't.  No audio layer appears.
    Thanks!

See if this helps... To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Error in Premiere Pro CS3.

Whenever I had a problem and i posted it here, i always got helped by you guys, so first of all, i want to thank those who helped me out there, and wanted you to know that i really appreciate that help.
Here is probably my last issue with Premiere Pro CS3.
    The problem:
From time to time, i get an error. A message saying: " sorry a serious error has occurred that requires adobe premiere pro to shut down"
It saves the current project, and when i start premiere over, it loads it from there. It usually happens when:
I ' activate ' an effect, example: I change the opacity to 0 ( typing it with the keyboard as a percentage ) and press enter. Right when i press enter, it pops up. ( it happens with any kind of effect, just from time to time, when i ' activate ' it)
When i minimize an audio file by dragging it to the left or the right, it happens when i release the right mouse button. These are just examples. The issue is that when i make a change, this error repeats.
I'd love to hear what the issue may be.
    Appreciate any kind of help.

Can you give us the specs. of one of the typical Projects, and their Assets, where you see this happening?
Next, can you give us the specs. of your computer, in as much detail, as is possible?
Can you also list the programs/processes, that load at boot up? A screen-cap, or report from Process Explorer will tell us a lot.
Also, before beginning an editing session, you might want to look into this ARTICLE. If you have Win7, be sure to look down-thread for the link to Black Viper's Web site for tuning that OS.
This ARTICLE might be useful for telling you what is happening with your system and your programs, when you get the error and crash.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 on Mac versus Final Cut Pro

Any of you working on a mac with Premiere Pro CS3? If so, why did you choose Premiere over Final Cut Pro?
I'm currently using a Matrox RTX100 on a custom made PC that has all the correct pieces of hardware to make it work. It's running PPro 1.5 and I'm looking to upgrade to a new computer and wanted to know if PPro CS3 runs better or like butter on a Mac versus a PC. I will be using a Raid 0 1TB drive from G-Raid. For Mac the other option is Final Cut Studio 2.
I've been a Premiere user since 1999-2000 and have had my share of grief with it but have grown to like it very much especially with the integration with AE.
I want to know what your thoughts are if you were in the same position.
    Thanks,
    Frank

I'm using PP CS3 on the Mac, having recently switched from a Windows machine. Since I already owned the Windows version of CS3 Adobe allowed me to "crossgrade" to Mac for the cost of shipping. I took a look at FCP but saw no compelling reason to make the switch in editing programs. If you do a lot of editing in HD it might be a different story as PP doesn't include an intermediate codec (FCP does), has issues with HDV video/audio sync and lacks native support for XDCAM. Hopefully these particular weaknesses in PP will be addressed soon.
PP CS3 on the Mac has worked very well for me so far. The integration with AE is excellent. One other thing to note is that PP is available as a stand only app. This is no longer true of FCP, where you are forced to buy the entire Studio 2.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 on Sony Vaio - performance question

I am running an older VAIO PCV-RX770 P4 2.2 Ghz, 1Gb RAM, ATI RADEON 9550 256 Mb graphics card with Premiere Pro CS3 newly installed. I have attached a new Seagate FreeAgent 500 Gb external drive that I have all my Source Files on. My question is this: Is there any tweaks that I can perform to this machine to make it run as as fast as possible. All drivers are up to date and all drives constantly de-fragged. When I do Start, Run, MSCONFIG, my startup tab is pretty clear, only a few things running - AGRMMSG, khooker, point32, RUNDLL32, ccApp, cfmon, ColorVision Startup. I wonder about the SERVICES tab - can anyone tell me what apps(without me listing them all here) that I can safely "disable"(if at all) here? I see the "hide all Microsoft Services" box and when checked, the list becomes smaller. When I checked the Microsoft box and then "disabled" all the rest, Premiere wouldn't start. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanx, Eric.

There are a couple of Adobe Technical Support Documents (links are in the WIki) that cover optimizing Windows for PPro. They will probably help you.
    Cheers

  • Premiere Pro CS3 visualize Truetype fonts as squares

    Hello,
I have one problem with Premiere Pro CS3. It can detect all truetype fonts installed in Windows, but it shows them as squares, and i can't use them as they should be visualize.
The Truetype fonts are installed correctly in Windows, and other applications visualize them with the correct appearance.
The curious situation is that Photoshop CS3 can also visualize correctly those truetype fonts.
What is the problem? How i can Premiere configuration to visualize correctly truetype fonts?
    Thanks a lot.

There are quite a few TTFonts, that will not display in Titler, but certainly most will, or should.
The Isabelle and Isabella TTFonts (from several foundries) will not display, and that must be a problem with the way those font files are written. I have run across a few others, but not that many.
I agree, that if Arial and Times Roman do not display, something is very wrong with your setup. I would do a Repair Install, and test. I would also get the very latest video driver and install it. Once updated, check on Hardware Acceleration. If min, set to max - test. If set to max, try min - test. If you see improvement, then test by incrementing one notch at a time. Also check your OpenGL settings.
One note: Titler (both in PrPro and PrE) is about the most sensitive program, regarding fonts. Other Adobe programs, will work just fine, but one corrupt font will crash Titler. I am not talking about using that corrupt font, but just having it installed on the system. I use a utility, Font Doctor (Extensis), to correct any damaged font. The free FontFrenzy has that capability too, but as I use Extensis Suitcase to manage my fonts, I already have Font Doctor installed. Either can be very useful for either repairing a bad font, or pointing it out to you for Deleteion, and then replacement with a good version. Now, even with these, there will likely be some fonts that are not corrupt, but are just poorly written and will still not display.
This ARTICLE will give you some tips on corrupt fonts.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CS3 and Panasonic P2 (Win XP)

    Hi everyone,
since last week I had no problem editing various footage with Premiere Pro CS3.
My problems has begun when I received a Panasonic P2 footage for editing.
Of course is not possible to import it into CS3!
Reading here and there, I found a news about the 3.1 update with Panasonic suport.
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS55AC98C1-D132-486c-AB6 D-A937E5EC64A4.html
Yes. It is on the Adobe website.
    But....
"OK, the 3.1 (P2 support) update is now available, for both Win and Mac, on the download site"....?!?!?
I didnt' find it. Of Course there is only CS5!
    Who cares CS3 anymore?
    ME!!!
    ah,ah,ah
If anyone has ideas or advices...please, please...let me know!
P.S....possible no one is considering an Editing PC Machine NOT connected to Internet? Is it so strange?

Found this in about 5 seconds with Google.

  • Ideal Computer and Capture hardware for Premiere Pro CS3

I'm working with Premiere Pro CS3 and want to build a new computer based on the AMD platform. I'm currently looking at the AMD Phenom 9850, AMD's newest Quad-Core processor. I'm looking at pairing it with 4GB of DDR2 1066 Memory, a 1GB PCI-E x16 Video card with 4 DVI and 1 HDMI outputs, 2TB SATA 3.0GBs 7200 RPM Hard drives in a striped/mirrored RAID array, all running on one of Gigabyte's newest AM2+ mobos. I'll be running XP Pro SP3. I think I've got the computer locked down, unless anyone's got some insight for me into the specs on it. Also, does Premiere Pro CS3 take advantage of Vista's 64-bit yet? I hate Vista with a passion, but if I'll get significant performance increase from it, then I'll make the migration.
My big question is this: what's Adobe's recommended capture hardware? Budget isn't necessarily a consideration and I'd love something that's got HD-SDI BNC I/O in addition to the standard composite, YCrBr, and DV I/O. I'd also like something that has good pro-audio I/O integrated. Ideally something that would include multiple analog I/O via 1/4" or XLR as well as digital I/O via ADAT lightpipe and AES/EBU. BNC wordclock I/O would be nice too.
Any recommendations? I'm fairly new to the video world, though I've been in the pro audio business for ten years.
    Thanks in advance!

    >2TB SATA 3.0GBs 7200 RPM Hard drives in a striped/mirrored RAID array
For video, RAID 3 is your best option, found primarily on Areca cards.
For the kind of ins & outs you're looking for, I think the Matrox Axio will be your only option. That's ain't cheap, though.
